Cat Angels Pet Adoptions Inc: what do users think?
Laura Smith: I am hoping they can take some in doon
Faye Dowling: God rescue place for cats
Vinny G: Great people.
Laura B: We had a great experience with Cat Angels. We already have a 2 year old female cat, and were looking for a male kitten (because we had read that that would probably be best). Elizabeth (our adoption specialist) took the time to listen to us regarding our resident cat's personality and what we were looking for. She had an idea of which cat might be a good fit, and introduced us. I was hesitant because the cat she showed us was not exactly what we had envisioned-- the cat was young, but not a kitten-- and it was a girl. But, as it turns out-- Elizabeth was spot on! Our new cat and our first cat get along great. We are very pleased we trusted Elizabeth!
Kaii ღ .: Pickle Legs on Youtube said that this shelter makes it hard for cats to get adopted , because they interview people and berate and belittle them . She left the place in tears . Would not recommend adopting from this place .
sharita McNiel: I need to ask a serious question
Shana Toohey: Always great! CAPA really takes care of their cats until a forever home is found.
Baby Alana mia: My name is Erika lira ,Me gustaría ser voluntario. Amo a los animales, me gustaría contribuir con mi ayuda para darles amor y atención. No hablo mucho inglés pero soy más capaz de aprender.
Anamaria Holingher: I love this place! I was looking for a place to go volunteer and this has been great! The cats are so sweet and friendly and the staff are also very nice! I love how quite it is !
Valerie Hagwood: Ms. D took in my babies and she did not have to. I will be visiting this Saturday. She is a doll..
Helga Bluestone: Looked for cats to adopt. Cat Angels accepts kittens, pregnant cats and adopts out all of them. Generally, for the younger kittens, they're available as a set of two. I agree with their philosophy. It's crowded with cats in smaller divided rooms they grow up in. They could use more space and volunteers. It's a no kill shelter where every cat is guaranteed a home. They place a lot of not just kittens but catsThe hygiene is good. There's a disinfectant bath for shoes and Purrell for hands to keep their animals healthy. Our new kitty needed about two months to get used to his new home. He's become very affectionate towards us.Great place for felines
Akhand Bharat: Good place
Katie (Kitkat): Highly recommend adopting from here ! Cat Angels is amazing !
Jeannie Newman: The people who work in volunteer their live up to their name!
Susan Wenzinger: Cats are well cared for and very social. Lots to choose from.
Sharon Mills: My husband and I adopted two kitten sister's Florence and Helene. The people that work here are wonderful to all the cat's in their care. We couldn't be any happier with our two little love bug girl's. Thank you Cat Angels Pet Adoptions for caring so much!
Michael S: I went to Cat Angels to adopt a couple of kittens as companions for my partner, my cat and myself, and I could tell they take excellent care of their cats. They keep about 8 to 12 cats in each of about 5 rooms, with thought given to sociability with other cats, bonded pairs, dietary or other needs. All the cats were quite relaxed. Before you went in to a room you had to step in a shallow pan of disinfectant, and rub your hands with some kind of disinfectant as well. The several staff folks either knew a given cat's personality and friends, or drew in another staff member who did. They were all clearly cat people, some (most?) of whom were working for free, but all of whom were clearly competent and engaged. As far as I could tell they also have a vet come over to check things out once a week. Which is all to say, the cats appear to be well taken care of emotionally and physically.Their approach to the adoption process is well thought out as well. Their principal objectives here are to create a great match between people and cats, and also to protect the cats for the rest of their lives against some of the stuff that can happen to adopted kitties. So they check with your prior vets to make sure your animals get good care. They also have you sign an agreement that you won't declaw your cat, you'll take it to the vet, and that it will be an indoor-only cat.If you violate these terms, they can take the cat back. I Don't Feel They Are Being Capricious. (I would have all capped that, but I hate shouting). Declawing a cat is a TERRIBLE thing to do. The indoor vs indoor-outdoor issue, some might disagree on, and Cat Angels instead of arguing with you is genuinely happy to help you find other shelters (they have a map). Not in the agreement, but worthy of note, they have told us that if things just don't work out, they will always accept the cat back.TL;DR These folks are all about making sure the people-cat fit is high quality and enduring.
Linda Garner: Service and meal were awesome!
Perfect Cloak Shadow Gaming: I've been volunteering here for almost a year. I will be adopting at least one very soon. They are a no-kill shelter and the feeding/cleaning protocols are very strict to keep a clean place. Very friendly humans that work there as well.
Bobby P.: My business is next door and I know the owner well. This is a great place and I love anyone who’s an animal lover. The folks that work here are all super friendly!
H C: The wonderful people that operate this rescue have genuinely beautiful, loving hearts for these precious cats and kittens.

Best Friend Pet Adoption: what do users think?
jonathan hernandez: Such an amazing place they do such an amazing job taking care of the animals
Michelle L: I adopted my cat from here during National adoption weekend and might go back again for another cat in the near future. The adoption process was very smooth and easy. You can tell that the folks at Best Friends really care about the animals.
Chris Gennone: These people just want to get rid of the animals. On the listing of the cat I adopted, they said she was 5 years old. On THEIR paperwork, they said she was 5 years old. When I adopted her, they sent me her previous medical report which said she was 10 years old. I'm aware that these shelters and agencies can't tell 100% how old these rescue animals are, but 5 and 10 years old is a BIG difference, and the fact that they knew that she was older than what they were advertising is misleading and cruel. I've had my cat for two years now and she has developed heart issues and I'm spending thousands of dollars to keep her alive. No thanks to Best Friends Animal Society. Beware.
Lexi Carlitz: A month ago I adopted a beautiful short hair from this shelter named Frankie (I renamed him) and could not be happier. I highly recommend coming here if you are looking to adopt an animal, especially cats. I was impressed by how many options they had and how attentive the staff was. I also appreciated that even though they let groups into the rooms one at a time, when I expressed interest in my particular cat they assured me that I had first dibs since I had seen him first. I was able to adopt him the same day since I brought a carrier with me. Around a week or so after I took him home, they even sent a pet friendly cake to celebrate his adoption!
BornKing MyLiege: Clean af and very nice staff
Danielle: Great place to adopt
Marina Manashirova: LAST WEEK I ADOPTED A VERY CUTE 2 MONTHS OLD MALE KITTEN BY THE NAME OF STYX. HE IS A VERY LOVABLE KITTEN WHO IS STILL EXPLORING MY BIG 1 BEDROOM APARTMENT. HE GOES EVERYWHERE AND HE RUNS VERY FAST BECAUSE HE IS VERY ACTIVE. I HAVE A LOT OF DIFFERENT TOYS FOR HIM, AND I LOVE HIM AND HE LOVES ME. THANK YOU, BEST FRIENDS FOR GIVING HIM TO ME.
Yz Wang: God bless this place. Adopted a kittenwithin the same day, the staff were all nice, they gave us a lot of kitty food to start with!
Elyse Minaya: I adopted my cat a little over a year ago. We were told Mittens was a 5 mth old kitten, and their paperwork reflected that. However, recently I noticed that the paperwork had records of her being in the Atlantic County Animal Shelter in NJ and she was filed at 5 yrs old. It makes sense she’s an older cat because she has not grown or gained weight, she has stayed at her petite 7lbs in the 1+ year she has been with us. We don’t love her any less for this but it can be dangerous to mark a 5 yr difference on an animal since once they reach their senior yrs, their nutrition has to change, as well as health concerns. Also, she had severe gingivitis which developed into stomatitis and we had to proceed with a full mouth dental extraction which was not cheap, and this is something we were also not informed of at the time of adoption.Besides the complete misinformation on our lovely Mittens, the workers of the center and very respectful and love the work they do, which can be felt from the moment you step in. Despite Mittens not being the kitten we were looking for at the time, we would have chosen her regardless, as she chose us in the first place.I kindly ask of Best Friends to be extremely careful and double check when it comes to an animal’s profile.***********Update 5/10: although BFLC has reached out through this review, I have emailed them twice since then and have not received any type of response.
Griffin Elliot: SAVE THEM ALL ✌️
Carlin Wright: I bounced around a bunch of shelters looking for a new sidekick and Best Friends was the most inviting, helpful and attentive. Answered all my questions, and made adoption super easy. We left together the same day :)
Jay P Production: The best shelter ever! Got my first cat there and came back for another one!
Johnna Reilly: The best adoption place. Everyone is friendly and the adoption process is so easy. I found here the perfect cat and we love her very much! I recommend this place for everyone who would want to adopt a pet.
Alexandra Krukowski: I had a great experience fostering and adopting from BF. Their staff is so dedicated and kind. I was deciding to adopt a senior cat and they were so helpful and made themselves very available for all my questions. They also kindly coordinated a call with the vet so I could discuss the health conditions of the cat I really wanted to adopt. I highly recommend fostering / adopting from this center. Their staff truly cares and takes excellent care of their animals!
Cristina Rosu: We got two wonderful kitties from this shelter! The staff helped us identify which cats would be a good fit for us based on our lifestyle and ability to take care of them, they gave us detailed care instructions (very helpful for us as first-time pet owners), and starter supplies so that we could take the kitties home the same day. They even mailed us an instant microwave cake to share with our kitties to welcome them home (see pictures).
Ke Wu: Highly recommend, they treat our furry friends really well. I met my sweet boy Axel two days ago, love him. Easy and smooth process for adoption, definitely five stars♥️
James and Deirdre Davis: Clean, friendly staff. Would recommend everyone looking to adopt.
Emily Wang: It is a safe haven for animals rescued. To me, it doesn’t feel like a animal shelter but a home for little animals who are looking for their permanent home and someone can love them back. The staff are very friendly. It is a well organized and managed place that makes animal adoption process friendly and easier.
Serin Lee: Best Friends Lifesaving Center has been on my mind this week as I reflect on adopting Leeds one year ago today. I had been navigating needlessly convoluted adoption applications and fees online for a month before I visited Best Friends. Leeds was the first cat I met here, and after a simple interview and paperwork process, I was able to bring Leeds home. It felt like a miracle!Despite being told that he was “very shy," I saw Leeds quickly reveal himself to be a very friendly, curious, mischievous, and affectionate boy. He brings a lot of joy to everyone around him, and I am grateful to Best Friends for what I hope will be many more happy years ahead. I unreservedly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a place to adopt.
Emilly Rivera R: 3 days ago we adopted our new kitty in this amazing place. Thanks for all your help and our baby
Ken Dai: When we were there, a bunch of new cats arrived, we were lucky to spot one we really liked and ended up adopting this super cute and active 2-year-old shorthair! All the employees and volunteers are friendly. Olivia was very patient, and helped us from choosing a cat to doing the paperwork. She provided all the valuable information we needed for a first time cat owner, and she attentively followed up with us a week later. We had a wonderful experience here!

Second Chance Pet Adoptions: what do users think?
Bill Tomko: While we didn't get our two cats from here, we have donated toys, beds, food, and cat stuff. The place is clean (and smells clean) and the critters all look healthy and happy. Find your fur buddy there.
Geneva Agnos: I was not happy with my experience, I went to an event, found a dog I thought was a perfect fit for my family, asked every question I could think of to make sure he would be a good fit. I explained I worked from home, and spent most of my time at home with my dogs. I put in the application, passed the vet recommendations, passed having a willing person to take the dog should I die, passed having two referrals, only to be turned down by the foster parent who decided a single Mom would clearly neglect this dog. Now, these overly crowded shelters and rescues will have one more adult dog that will potentially struggle to be adopted. We have a loving home, my animals are a huge part of my life. They are very well cared for, spoiled with love and play. But some random person who has never even met me, never bothered to even have a call with me, or come do a home visit, gets to decide. If that's not judgement against single Mom's, I don't know what is! They'd rather give this dog to a married couple that will throw it outside all day and neglect it. I think this is an incredibly unprofessional way to handle things. If that foster spoke to me, voiced her concerns, perhaps I could have eased those concerns, or perhaps I could see why she fealt we weren't the right fit, and not be left feeling judged and treated poorly due to not fitting her mold. I hope he finds a good home, and I hope that foster realizes that she not only prevented him from getting a good home, but also truly hurt me as a human being, made me feel like garbage, and made me dislike the old fashioned mindset of this area even more!Edit: response to your reply. Yes, the rescue approved me, the foster parent was the one with the issue of a single Mom. I confirmed ahead of putting in my application that he was good with cats, multiple dogs, and kids. I was told he loved the two rambunctious boys in his foster, was great with playing with dogs, and had no issues with cats. In my further conversations with the rescue, it was determined by the foster mom that as a single caregiver, and an assumed busy house (it's not, most of my animals are elderly and both kids are school age), I would neglect Sutter. My issue is that as a rescue that clearly does a ton of work ensuring people will care for and love the animals, you sure put a lot of trust in the word of a foster who didn't even offer a meet up or house visit.
Kenneth Smith: Just visit website to get insight on adoption
Carol Rose: I want to adopt a kitten & plan to come Sat.
Matt Neff: Accompanied my adult daughter to meet her potential new pup. So very impressed with many things - the write up was incredibly detailed and after 24 hrs, can attest 100% accurate. Pups come 'Ready', as in neutered, shots, wormed and chipped. The adoption fee is less than the initial VET bill on out last pound pup.And yes! She adopted! :-)
Kathy Rodgers: Our neighbor is fostering a young large dog from this organization. They have failed in taking care of this precious puppy! Sure, they’re providing food but this puppy has a terrible issue with a front leg. When he plays he’s in severe pain, but he’s a puppy and needs the exercise and socializing. This organization won’t provide pain meds or offer any other DMEs to help support his leg. It’s getting worse and worse daily. So how can an organization that says they’re taking care of these dogs, then ignore a very serious and painfully situation?!? So very sad for this puppy and the foster Mom who's doing everything she can to take the best care of her foster puppy. Very, very disappointing!
Maury McCoy: Fantastic place to find a furry friend, We foster through second chance and they have been great.
Rebecca Welles Aamodt: Best place around for wonder cats and kitten adoptions
Chris Gyles (Gyles): These guys put on or sponsored the free ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s last week. Great crew they had their end and adorable Australian shepherd mix eight month old puppy.
Erika Christiana: I truly appreciate Second Chance for being the place where I felt complete acceptance and understanding when I was searching for my ESA, Duckie (formerly known as Mr. Pepe). The thing I love about their dog program is that the foster parents do get to pick the best fit for the dog, since they know the dog best.Duckie's foster mom reached out to us over our application and we scheduled a meeting time for Duckie to meet our elder beagle, Luna. It was a great fit, so we got the chance to foster-to-adopt Duckie to make sure he was right for our house, Luna, and myself as an ESA.Duckie was heartworm positive when he landed at Second Chance, but they were able to give him treatment right before we started the foster period. We made sure that he took any remaining meds, adjusted him to food, and spent time getting to know our little buddy. The weeks flew by and we realized that it was time for evaluation - we honestly forgot because it felt like we had always had Duckie. We got to see his foster mom one last time, and she gave us a homemade blanket and toy for Duckie to remember his time - which he loves to this day. We agreed to the adoption and I signed the paperwork - and they were nice enough to agree that if Duckie tested heartworm positive six months from date of his last treatment, they would pay for another round. This made me feel better as a first time adopter of a heartworm positive pet - plus, they gave me all the information I needed to be informed.Fast forward seven months later, Duckie has opened up to us fully - he's devoted, silly, loves to tap dance when it's food time, and developed an affinity for some special snacks thanks to his elder sister, Luna. We've worked with him on becoming more food positive and developing trust with us. He even has a couple of neighborhood friends! He's the best ESA for my anxiety and c-PTSD. Every time I'm near him, I feel his happiness and joy. When I'm sad, he curls up next to me and places his head on my lap. He's a one-of-a-kind dog - and my fiancé and I are proud to be his dog parents. Thanks again to Second Chance for helping me find my ESA - he does his job simply by being himself. I am grateful for the understanding from this rescue above all else.
Leia: My mom and I were going to adopt my dog Lockett. When we arrived they refused to let us go home with her even though we went to adopt her. Over a couple months we were indecisive about getting Lockett. The employees/volunteers were extremely rude and didn’t give us a chance to talk and say our case. Apparently my mom took to long so they wouldn't let us adopt her. I sent an email to schedule a meeting and possibly find out if we would be able to get Lockett. Why wouldn’t just let us adopt her while we were there instead of taking her away from us and finding a whole new foster home. Me and Lockett had a really tight bond and i’ve cried many nights missing her. Me and my mom have emailed them countless times longing to see Lockett but didn’t give us any information. We still don’t have Lockett and I still miss her very much.
Chrissy Myers: Placed an application for a dog and was told we would hear something within a couple of days. It was more like a week before we were told we were approved and then waited another week to be told we were then not approved. No communication in between and we lost opportunities to be able to adopt other dogs because we were waiting on this one.I understand all of that but we were told we would hear by Tues, not Thursday. From there, there was NO communication at all. I understand you not wanting to place the dog with me and I am fine with that. It's the lack of response and communication that upsets me. Looking at my application, it was obviously clear that I was not a good fit according to your terms. It should not have taken an additional week and only after my prompting to get a response to tell me I was not a good fit. I would not have lost other opportunities due to the organization's negligence.
Liisa Berger: Best pet adoption place in the area!
Shannon Micete: They will come into your community and steal your animals and act like they didn’t do anything wrong. Forget about trying to get them to give them back. Worse than PETA
lizzy novelli: Amazing facility with great employees. Adopted our sweet kitten from here and they were amazing about everything!
Sara Martinez: Highly recommend if your looking to foster or adopt a new pet. The staff are all great! I was a foster for a puppy, they took care of all of the puppy's needs!!
Christina Williams: I did a transport from a shelter to here. The staff were very pleasant and the transition went smoothly.
Mary Bartlett: Thank you Jessica for allowing me to adopt Max ( orange crush) he has been a blessing, my pride and joy Cheyenne (cat) passed away a year ago, never thought I'd get over her till now. She's gone but never forgotten, Max is a breath of fresh air.
juniper wang: Friendly people and even friendlier cats! You can tell they’re super well taken care of and open to trusting because of it. Awesome place to adopt a pet!
Lily Cloud: I came here looking for a dog for little to no experience owning one before. They were able to find me a dog that fit my lifestyle perfectly. That was almost 5 years ago, and I still have my best friend Poe! ♥️ These people really care about the animals they rescue and will do anything for them.
Heather Price: 10 years ago, I met both of my kitties here. The staff were super friendly, encouraging and had a plethora of resources to provide for a first time cat owner. We will be back when it's time to add another furry ball of fury!

Meow House Cat Rescue: what do users think?
Anna Bottcher: Horrible and disrespectful communication with fosters.
Lindsey Ross: Meow House is amazing! They did a great job in helping me find the sweetest cat that fits perfectly with my lifestyle. I could not recommend it more highly. The cats live in loving foster homes before adoption and are very well-cared for.
Lucy Maldonado: Meow House is an excellent representation of all things great with our community. This sanctuary not only helps the animals that are at risk, they roll up their sleeves to address the needs of the pet owners as well.
Bethany Guymon: I am very unhappy with my experience here. There is no way to contact Meow House, except by email, and then they were slow to respond (and sometimes not at all), and to top it all off they were incredibly rude. Not to mention they have a God complex in their power and authority over anyone that asks to adopt.
Casey Zboralski: They love the cats, work hard to match a new owner with the personalities of each cat to end up with a forever home!
Jairo Robyn: Amazing place
Kevin Clevenger: Didn't really get any help from them, but they are doing good work.
Rosana Thomas: The adoption fee covers spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccines and much more. The volunteers and fosters are supportive and available for questions long after adoption. They truly care about the cats and want to make sure it's a good match all around. It's 100% volunteer run so no one is gets a salary. I highly recommend Meow House Cat Rescue.
Mark Burchard: We discovered Meow House through PetSmart. We went to an adoption open house for foster animal' at the Apex PetSmart in June 2016. I immediately fell in love with a tiny grey furball and insisted that we adopt her. My girlfriend was a tiny bit doubtful at first, but by the time we were halfway home, she had fallen in love. The only snag we encountered was that she was actually a he 😸! Other than that, Minky was up to date on his shots when we adopted him, and Meow House referred us to an affordable vet when it's was time to get him fixed and get his follow-up exam and shots. We LOVE this cat! He doesn't have any particular neuroses or show any signs of PTSD from his time in foster care. He's a happy cat. Smart too, he makes up his own little games in the middle of the night! BTW, we like that Meow House had a no-declaw policy. De-clawing is mutilation! Even though he's rambunctious boy, we haven't had to much trouble, as long as we keep enough scratch pads around. Sometimes when he climbs up Daddy he might draw a drop of blood or two, but I don't mind, it's worth it, he's my little buddy!
Kash Rogbeer '20: I would highly recommend Meow House to anyone seeking to adopt!! They are definitely not your traditional rescue shelter but these people are fighting tooth and nail to rescue cats from the kill shelter and that alone is a great reason to adopt from them. I got my sweet 8 year old Bella from them and I couldn’t be more grateful that they saved her!!
Kendall Cuthbertson: The volunteers do a fabulous job.
Alanna Broyde: I filled out the extensive application online for one of their kittens, and never heard back from them. Definitely disappointed, but it's their loss. I've been searching for a while and the fact that they won't even get back to people who clearly wasted their valuable time on their website is a total judge of character for the place as a whole. It's like they don't want their kittens to find good homes:/
Kate Higdon (Katiecat): TLDR: They sold me a sick cat and blatantly lied to my face about her condition. Do not adopt from them!I used to work at a store that associated with Meow House. During that time, I bonded with and eventually adopted one of their cats. About a month after I got her home, I learned that they’d lied to my face about her having serious medical issues and that she had an incurable and very contagious illness (Feline HIV) that they’d chosen to ignore. As a result, she’s now blind in one eye and has recurrent respiratory issues. As I’m also aware that their ‘foster home’ is simply them keeping thirty some cats in their house together and unseparated, it’s very, very likely that if one has this illness, it’s spread to all the others, as it spreads through fluids, such as sharing food/water dishes and litter boxes. Since they’ve decided the vet is either unnecessary or too expensive and they chose to directly lie (they told me her at-that-point cloudy but functional eye was all scar tissue from a botched surgery and her sneezing fits were a stress symptom) I beg you, take your business elsewhere. Their cats are not healthy and not being properly cared for. If you’ve already gotten a cat from them, I implore you to visit the vet and have them do a blood test. If you have more than one cat in your home, it could be very dangerous to keep them together. The illness is treatable if caught early but can cause a host of health issues if not addressed. All in all, they’re horrible people and I wish I’d called the SPCA on them for mistreatment if animals.
Allison C: Meow House is run by local volunteers and deeply cares for the cats in their rescue. There is no physical location, just foster homes. They do what’s best for the cat so don’t expect to just get whatever you want.
Corrine Carr: I rescued my cat from here. Love their system. All cats live in foster homes and are well cared for. So happy to be able to support them :-)

Paws for Life NC: what do users think?
Chelsea Womack: Adopted my sweet Peach from Paws for Life NC in April and I owe them all the credit for giving me my best friend! They are thorough with their adoption process, but they truly have the best interest of the animals at the center of everything they do. The foster who had my Peach before we adopted (shoutout Roda!) did a phenomenal job with her and you could tell she was loved and well taken care of, she even came to us having mastered basic puppy training (potty, sitting, etc.).This is a rescue full of volunteers so every person in the organization is passionate about helping animals. Would recommend them 100x over to anyone looking to adopt a new life companion either in doggy or kitty form!
Dallas Henley: We love our little fur baby. Super happy we could support Paws for Life NC.
Susan Roberts: Words cannot fully express my admiration and gratitude for Paws for Life NC. As a former shelter employee who had the privilege of working alongside them, I witnessed firsthand their extraordinary dedication and unwavering commitment to the well-being of animals in our communities. There were numerous occasions when I reached out to them in moments of desperation, even during odd hours, and without fail, they rose to the occasion, going above and beyond to assist animals in need.Paws for Life NC truly moves mountains to make a difference whenever possible. Their compassion, tireless efforts, and incredible work leave me in awe. They deserve more than a mere five stars for their remarkable contributions to animal welfare.Thank you, Paws for Life NC, for being an exceptional organization. You have my utmost respect and gratitude for the invaluable impact you make in the lives of animals and our community.
Diana Chavez: I'm only doing this to bring awareness. The people are very thorough with the applications, and in my opinion a little unrealistic, but to each their own. This was my first time adopting a cat and the experience really discouraged me a bit. I filled out an application and a couple days later I get a phone call about my response of using a harness even though I am planning to have an indoor cat. Cindy had a conversation with me about how cats live wonderful lives inside and that they prefer to be inside and I explained that if in the event the cat ever gets out I want them to be comfortable and familiar with their surroundings which is why I would train them on a harness to be outside with me. Harness or leashes are non-negotiable. So if you have any interest in trying a harness with a cat, just know they will reject your application and will not take the time to call your references. They believe the experience a cat should have with the outside world should go no further than cracking a window (true words from Cindy). Please do better. Your animals are missing out on some wonderful homes, I'm sure.
Libby Kemp: We found Our little guy on the paws for life website. We've known lots of people who have had wonderful experiences with them in the past. So we felt comfortable starting the process. I have to say, from the start it was nothing but positive! everyone was so friendly and helpful. they all gave us great advice and walked us through every step of the adoption processes. you can tell every person involved in this amazing program cares deeply about the animals and matching them with the best fit for the pet and the family. We are madly in love with our puppy and so grateful to everyone at Paws for Life for all they've done for us and for countless others pets and their loving families!
Thomas Mills: This organization does not try hard to help you with adoption of pets.very unfriendly and not helpful at all. Very misleading on adoption policies.its easier to get a 10,000 dollar loan than to get a kitten from this place.
Santa Claus: It’s easier to adopt a child. I was denied because there’s not a steady history of vet visits. I thought animals only need a vet for yearly check up and sickness. It’s easier to go to a breeder!! Easier but more $$
Rashid Parker: My wife and I adopted a Honey bun back in January, the foster was very helpful and made the already quick and easy process even better.
Hal Hardison: Absolutely horrible. I was interested in a dog that would be around dogs all the time. We have dogs that come to our home. We have a vacation place at the beach. Dogs every where in our group. We would be sending the dog to playcare on a regular basis. They would not let us even have a chance at a dog because "they" decided the dog needed a home with another dog. Their application process is way over the top. This organization has lost itself. Its about the people and not the pets. They are passing up great homes for these pets because they have injected what is best for them and not the dog. SAD!!!!! Good luck to all the dogs caught in this.
Graham Johnson: Leaving four stars just bc that is what their current rating is and I don’t feel like my experience with them is thorough enough to make a judgement call on star level overall as an agency however….I think it is important for people interested in this rescue to be aware that they will not consider pre-adoption evaluations for potential service animals. I’m sure this doesn’t impact a large number of people, but for the people it does, now you know.Edit: After reading other reviews I am revising my star rating. I feel safe saying this company is ableist. If you have any sort of disability and want to adopt one of their animals, either go somewhere else, or don’t mention you have a disability. I inquired about a dog that I was interested in training as an autism service dog for myself and they made multiple unfair assumptions about me and refused to talk to me about any of the dogs or their temperaments
Anistyn Grant: One of the most bizarre experiences I’ve ever had.A few days ago, I applied for a kitten and cited, in the “why” section of the questionnaire, my general love for animals and considerable experience with them (current ASPCA volunteer, raised on a farm, numerous family pets, etc.). I also stated in my form that my healthcare provider suggested adopting a pet for the emotional support aspect. This reason was, of course, secondary to my first two listed incentives, as I have been looking to adopt long before I received this encouragement. It was simply the final push. The next day, I received an email from Cindy stating that PawsForLife does not consider adoptees with “therapeutic/medical assistance expectations of animals” because they want their animals to be “loved and cared for, unconditionally.” Not only is this mindset incredibly insulting (those suffering from mental and physical disabilities are MORE than capable of loving their pets to the fullest – and do), it’s just ignorant. All pets, to some extent, provide therapeutic assistance to their caretakers. That’s the beauty of owning a pet. That’s why we do it. For the joy and peace of watching them live under our care. It’s scientifically proven to be therapeutic. She also stated that kittens’ personalities are not developed yet, so there is no way to know if the animal will truly be a comforting presence. Ironically, they listed the kitten in question as being “a true snuggler” on their website. None of the reasons for my application’s rejection made any sense, and it was such a saddening experience.Though I appreciate the thoroughness PawsForLife seems to be aiming for with their adoption screening, I hope to see the organization’s outlook on potential disabled adoptees rectified soon. Not for me, because I will be adopting elsewhere, but for the thousands of people they’re barring from giving displaced animals a loving and wonderful forever home. Please do better.
Lauren Radakovich: We recently adopted 2 kittens from Paws for Life NC, and it was a great experience. The application process is quite thorough, which some people may not like. But to me, it shows how dedicated they are to the animals and ensuring they find good and loving (and appropriate!) homes for these animals. I interacted with 3 individuals and they were all very kind, professional, and pleasant to interact with. There is an indoor-only and no declaw policy for cats, but these are for safety and humane reasons, respectively. They ensure those who are adopting the cats have thought it out and are willing to take on the 15+ year dedication it is to have a cat be part of the family. I love how the cats are raised with a foster family rather than be in a noisy shelter where they can be scared and stressed. I highly recommend for anyone serious about adopting an indoor cat.
We Love Jesus: Great 👍
Shelby Carter: A horrific organization. If you want to adopt a cat from them to help their cause you better make sure your pet never sees the light of day!!! They are of an “indoor pet only” philosophy meaning you cannot take your pet outdoors unless on a leash. They lost a good home and now their pets grow older and less likely to be adopted. What was really painful was the lack of communication. Cindy in Wake Forest never responded to my 2 emails telling her I would not take the pet outdoors. I had to reach out to a board member who finally responded 4 days later. Because my original application checked the box that I would allow the pet outdoors kicked me out of the process. The emails I sent to Cindy stating I would not take the pet outdoors unless harnessed went unanswered. Rude!
Jesus Espino: I never get a call back from this bussines, and I couldn't find a real adress
Truong Nguyen: When you finally find it in your heart to help rescue and adopt an animal, NC Paw For Life says your home is not the right fit. WOW! They must think all Asians sees pets as food, huh? Why else would you deny someone after going through an over the top adoptions process and reject an application with no reasons given? Ridiculous! First time in my life I have been denied for any type of application! Shame on you! You should not continue to be a caring Non-Profit as you claim! Now, every time I see those sad commercials , it reminds me of this awful experience with Paws For Life NC.
Chanel Martin: Mirroring what the reviewer Jordan said. A waste of time. Go to the shelter and save yourself the headache. I guess I’m supposed to listen to their opinions over the one of my vet for a dog I’ve owned six years.
Nikkie Folts: Great rescue
Nilda Flaverney: We have recently adopted 2 dogs from Paws for Life NC. The application, screening and visit processes was quick and easy in our opinion. I can't say enough about the foster families - they are a blessing! It's clear they love these animals and want to be sure they are going to forever homes that are the right fit for the pet and the family. Please consider adopting from Paws for Life NC. The requirements and communication may seem "extra" for some people, but please realize it can't be easy to take these animals in, love and protect them then have to let them move on to their forever homes. They are just trying to ensure they are making the correct decisions.
David D.: Love them.
Jordan H: I was excited about possibly adopting a new cat, but this organization definitely discouraged me a bit. Firstly, I was asked a series of questions via their website application, and I answered all of them thoughtfully and appropriately. When they called to ask me further questions, the lady on the phone was rude and condescending! she suggested that I lived in a “vacant lot” even though i expressed we lived in a brand new home in a brand new neighborhood that is still being built. They asked us for 2 references, but never actually called the references. Why ask if you’re not going to even call them? In less than 24 hours, They emailed us saying we weren’t a good fit for the cat with no explanation whatsoever. So this whole thing honestly feels like a waste of time and an invasion of privacy just for them to turn us down without a second thought. Way to make adopting a pet way more difficult than it needs to be. If you want to adopt a pet without the drama and the hassle, just go to an actual animal shelter.
