Erdmann Art Conservation, LLC: what do users think?
Dorothea Heitsch: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueExcellent work, lots of expertise, thorough estimates, and easy communication.
Kay Goldstein: Positive:Professionalism,QualityI was very pleased to be referred to Mark Erdmann who repaired two very different pieces for me: a New Mexico hand carved folk art piece and a Tibetan temple incense burner. Both were done with care and professional expertise. I would definitely call on him again for other repairs and restoration.
S Auch: Positive:ProfessionalismMark was an excellent choice to repair a trophy from the collection of the Jack Nicklaus Museum. Mark worked with us every step of the way to make sure it was fixed to our satisfaction. When it was finished we couldn't tell where the repair was made. Would work with Mark again.
Lee Nisbet: Mark Erdmann conserved three objects in the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University’s collection. He is a professional who understands the complexities of art conservation. We are very pleased with his expertise and would readily hire him again.
Stacy Rexrode: Mark is professional and knowledgeable. He has performed a variety of restoration processes for the City of Raleigh Municipal Art Collection and we could not be more pleased with the results and the follow up from Mark.
Stacey Kirby: Mark is extremely knowledgable and reliable. He is highly regarded in art conservation and we are lucky to have him as a resource in this area. I will definitely continue to hire Mark in the future.
Timothy Riggs: I came to Mark with a brass art nouveau lamp that had been seriously damaged decades earlier. Parts had been bent, parts broken, and the surface was badly tarnished because of its age. Through my work at an art museum I was able to meet several conservators working with objects in various materials, but they were reluctant to work on it and warned me about the possibility of further damage if the brass weren’t handled properly. When I showed Mark the lamp and gave him the history of its damage, it was clear within minutes that he completely understood the problems and had a clear idea of what to do about them. In addition to repairing the damage I reported, he rewired the lamp with a cord suited to the period when it had been made; he also found evidence that the surface had originally been lacquered and after cleaning he protected it with a comparable lacquer. During the process he consulted me about alternative treatments. He raised my expectations about what could be done, and the final result fully met those higher expectations. It was a pleasure to work with him.
Martha Daniels: We searched for three years to find a conservator of Mark Erdmann’s excellence to repair our broken 18th Century glass “pokal” (a glass chalice with stem and covered top). It was broken into seven pieces. Please look at the photographs on Mr. Erdmann’s website in his Portfolio section. The photos show the damaged chalice in pieces and his completed work. Mr. Erdmann’s remarkable restoration used a technique with HXTAL epoxy. He discovered that one glass piece had been lost and he successfully created a new piece with epoxy in a wax mold. We so admired his exquisite work that we invited nearby museums and collectors to celebrate its return and hear Mr. Erdmann tell us the story of each step in his restoration process. We invited Mark and his wife to be our guests at our home and had the wonderful opportunity to have him to go through the house and examine other objects in need of restoration – wood frames, silver, brass, mirrors, and furniture. Now with certain confidence in his skill plus such a pleasant working process from start to finish, we see a path forward to more restoration projects.Martha M. DanielsCamden, South Carolina
Ira Goldstein: We purchased a pair of ancient Chinese Lokapala sculptures, they are more than 1,000 years old and unfortunately when un-crating them we had some small parts break off on one of the sculptures. I was led to Mark after doing an extensive search for the right restorer. Mark was very professional and did an amazing job, we have two of these sculptures and I can not tell which one had the restoration work. We are very happy with Marks work and would recommend him highly.
Kelly Woolbright: We've used Erdmann Art Conservation twice now and will definitely use its services again! Mark is very professional and did a wonderful job conserving an art object for us. He's great at explaining his work and techniques and is a valuable resource for information.
Nell Selengbe: Erdmann Art Conservation was fantastic! I was able to get an appointment right away. Mark was professional and very amenable. I would definitely recommend Erdmann Art Conservation to anyone looking for object conservation.

Mark Erdmann Metal Restoration: what do users think?
James Spraker: Mr. Erdmann undertook the conservation of a rare regional griddle. His work was flawless, and it was completed in a timely manner. Because of my location, I had to have the griddle shipped. The packaging was as professional as the conservation. I recommend Mr. Erdmann without reservation.
Jess: I highly recommend Mark Erdmann Metal Restoration. During a cross-country move, our treasured cowboy statuette, a family gift, was broken. Due to the size and weight and location of the break (see Mark's description of the repair), it was difficult to find someone to reliably restore the statuette and I was thrilled to find Mark. He was incredibly responsive, kind, and efficient. With a short turn around time, he repaired the cowboy in time for me to unveil the repaired statue as a Christmas gift to the family. His formal training as a conservator is evident in his impressive knowledge base and skilled restoration. The beautifully restored cowboy is again proudly on display in our home.
Judith Sands: Mark did an amazing job restoring two silver family heirlooms. He was meticulous in detailing the work involved and the end products of the restoration far exceeded expectations. He was very professional and responsive and the work was amazing!
Sandra Ricci: I inherited some family art objects which included a pair of antique electrified Italian oil lamps. The lamps needed to be cleaned, and one lamp taken apart to repair a cracked and broken base, re-soddered, and both re-stained. Fortunately, Erdmann's Metal Restoration was able to fix all these plus apply a re-coat of lacquer and update cords, switches and plugs. The result: gorgeous lamps. Thank you Mark!
Jonathan Wahl: We were very pleased with Mr. Erdmann's work on an antique oil-burning silver Hanukkah menorah, made by a 19th century Polish silversmith. The menorah was unusable when we inherited it, and needed major repairs. Mr. Erdmann took great care with it, and the menorah is now both beautiful and usable.

Mumford Restoration: what do users think?
Craig Davini: I thought the movers destroyed a chair beyond repair. Not so, Mumford made it new again. The best work ever. Thanks.
Henry Harris: We had our dining room table refinished and it looks beautiful! Great customer service as well.
Karen Johnson: I inherited a time-worn, dark and dreary landscape painting in a battered frame. Mumford removed the decades of grime and I was stunned to see the gorgeous work of art that had been hidden underneath. The 19th century frame was repaired so perfectly, it looked like it was brand new. Mumford's restoration experts are top quality and I would not hesitate to trust them with any restoration project.
Diane Olsen: Mumford Restoration did an amazing job on refinishing a piece of furniture as well as reupholstering a number of chairs for me. They are professional, reliable and have great talent. I couldn’t be happier with them and would highly recommend them!
Katherine Holoman: Many years ago when I purchased my 50s-vintage theatre sofa and art deco chairs — all in very rough condition — I was buying a dream; Mumford Restoration now has made that dream a reality. The team took those well-worn treasures and worked sheer unadulterated magic! Scuffed damaged wood became beautifully-polished chair spindles with just the right amount of sheen. Tired old cushions morphed into stunning velveteen seats with perfect piping. My vintage finds have lovingly been returned to their former glory thanks to Mumford’s artistry, historical integrity and imagination! I am ecstatic!
Victoria Gillis: Mumford has restored five of our family pieces of furniture and two antique lamps. The first piece I entrusted to them was a bed from a great-great-great aunt. Mid-1800s. In over a dozen pieces. Seriously. It had been stored in my sister’s basement for 40 years. They took the dozen or so pieces, had to make one missing side piece, and returned the bed to me looking better than I had ever seen it. They do remarkable work.
Lynne Sullivan: Mumford restorations was a wonderful experience. They exceeded my expectations in restoring a family dining table that was passed down to me. I'm looking forward to having them restore additional family heirlooms in the near future! I highly recommend Mumford Restoration.
Patti Simmerson: I received an antique dessert table from my first husband’s parents. When I needed to downsize, it was re-homed with a family member, but was damaged during transport. The table was returned to me when I once again had room for it. Mumford refurbished and refinished it and has it looking like new. They picked it up, serviced it, and returned it - it couldn’t have been easier. I would highly recommend their services!
L B: Great job quickly repairing our couch. (one of the slats broke in a 2-year old couch due to children jumping) Mumford repaired it quickly and strengthened the entire frame for a reasonable price. Great company! Excellent craftmenship.
Paul Greenwood: They did incredible work. An important oil painting had been literally torn into four pieces. They were able to sew the canvas back together, add Gesso over the seams, and repaint the seams to match perfectly. Most impressive.
Bryan Powers: My wife and I have used them to restore an antique chair and sofa. The work they do is beyond top notch! Never trust anyone else with your heirlooms. Mumford is the best!
Diane Michaud: We researched many places to restore my grandfather's safe. We couldn't find anyone to take on the project with the results we wanted., then we met Bernard. He is so knowledgeable, took the time to learn about us and the history of our piece and came up with a solution to distribute the weight of the 400 lb safe on a hardwood floor without damaging the floor. We are extremely happy with the results.
William Ransone: We were recently cleaning out an old house in eastern NC where my mother had lived for 70 years and discovered an oil painting we first thought was just a print. Turns out it was a family heirloom painted by an ancestor around 1875. It was dirty, dark, and had paint flaking off in numerous areas. The stain on the frame had also deteriorated and was coming off on your hands. So we took it to Mumford in Raleigh. They did an incredible job cleaning the canvas, matching the missing paint, restoring the frame, and putting it all back together while completely preserving the original antique look. The before-and-after photos are amazing! Their services are not cheap, but they are true master craftsmen in restoration and they know what they're doing!
Christel L: Mumford Restoration was awesome. They restored my mother's deteriorating antique frame beautifully. You can't even tell any work was done. They also took great care of the picture that was inside and returned it to the frame. I will choose Mumford Restoration again for any other restoration work.
Melinda Milone: I cannot express how happy your craftsmen made me! To take pieces of furniture from the 1930s and restore them to new is breathtaking! I've attached before and after pics.
Robin Scontsas: Mumford did an amazing job refinishing my dining room table. It looks more beautiful than when I purchased it new 30 years ago. They picked it up right away and delivered it ahead of the promised date. I highly recommend them for restoration and refinishing.
M McIntyre: I had an antique silver plated sugar and creamer on a tray that was badly tarnished. In fact, the silver plating on the sugar and creamer was completely eroded. Mumford Restoration did a fantastic job bringing the set back to life. The pieces were resilvered and the sugar and creamer had a brushed silver finished. Every aspect of dealing with Mumford was professional and customer oriented. Any questions were answered swiftly whether it was about shipping or the work to be done. Mumford Restoration is a quality business.
Cappy Hagman: Beautiful Work. Lovely people!
Michael F.: All I can say is WOW! I am really impressed with the outcome of our couch. Mumford rescued our red Lazy-Boy couch that was no longer being made in this same color. Mumford rebuilt the couch with all new faux leather (which might add has the same feel and touch as real leather, without the hangups of real leather. Our old couch was made of the bonded leather that had deteriorated after about 5 years. Shame on Lazy Boy for putting out a product like that. I will let you know that the restoration is not cheap, you could go out and buy a new Lazy boy couch, or whatever, but after the sitting in my new old couch with the new faux letter, and updated cushions, I am very happy with my investment. Thankful for your business!!!
Jen Sikes: Amazing! Mumford reupholstered a chaise beloved by our family and got it done on time, on budget, and with caring, personal service and friendly flexibility. Spectacular fabric choices and helpful guidance. I could not be happier!
Dave: These guys are great. Great work. Reasonable prices. Long-standing members of the community.
