Ryan Kleinschmidt: I would not recommend this auction company. They mislabeled an item as an antique and were cold and unapologetic in their response. They did offer a return with a very narrow window, but it is not possible for me. It's a shame because I sell many items and if I misrepresent something it is up to me to fix the issue, not put it on the buyer.

Carol Willis: If you ever want to sell, DO NOT USE this company. They make excuses (for not showing up on time, etc.) and then will go through your items and talk about how much you will make. We had a whole barn of good things (his words saying how our stuff was so good) and then listed them. We ended up with less than $1900. of items that were well worth over their value. I would never recommend anyone to use them. Full of excuses (including they could not "find" sales from credit card information on auction) to other things. Things went for pennies and after the auction....they had many excuses. And then a "too bad" attitude. Hated the whole experience, tacky people, and poor sales.

Michael and Sandy Maxwell: I have been to a dozen of his auctions now. John's auctions are fun to go to and extremely fast paced. I have been to other auctioneers that start off items at $100 and go all the way down to $5 on every single item. They took FOREVER to get through. When you go to John's auctions, items are auctioned off quickly. You blink, they're gone! They are SUCH fun! John and Gloria are wonderful, thoughtful, kind people. The people that work for them like Tara, Beth and Tammy are friendly and kind. I would highly recommend John Pischke.

Pac C: I have been around the auction business in other areas for a long time. Knowing the auctioneers you buy from are honest and above board is extremely important. I can say I would and have recommended Hoy to many and will continue to do so. They are honest, professional, and incredibly welcoming to work with both in selling for you and buying from them. You don't have to be a local to be treated like a friend.

My husband had been recently diagnosed with cancer and we needed help liquidating some items we had in storage. My husband sent him pictures of older furniture and items that we had in storage. He basically told my husband that he couldn't help him and that he was only looking for name brand things. My husband with so put off by his attitude, and didn't even bother to tell the people at Hoy that I had in storage sterling silver pieces, over 40 pieces of roseville pottery, as well as a roseville pottery dinnerware set, around 8 Lalique pieces, well over 40 Hummels, a few Baccarat pieces, Lladro, Ainsley china and some other "old junk". Butt hey, my junk wasn't good enough. They do not care about people at all, only how they can make a fast dollar. By the way, everything I had in storage was bought from hi bids.
Priscilla McLamb: The Hoy Auction Company usually buys from a number of people and has a large room full of all styles of furniture, lamps, what-not, oriental rugs, just about anything you want, they will have. They have a Website where you can view before going plus you will have time to look at the items in person. You register at the door and there is a percentage you pay if you purchase anything. Seats are provided for your comfort. We thoroughly enjoyed each time we went. The Staff was very nice.

Steve Skolsky: Working with a narrow time frame, arranging an estate sale over Memorial Day weekend, steady rain downpour both days, sale items on 4 floors of house- sounds like a prescription for an estate liquidation disaster, right? Wrong! Barb and her team at Magnolia delivered big time and exceeded our expectations. Barb worked closely with us to assess all of our belongings on site and her team carefully researched current market pricing for similar items and for us to provide additional details on original pricing, provenance etc. They even identified an artist in Australia that made a pottery platter that we bought when we lived in Melbourne 25 years ago! We were bit anxious given the holiday weekend and inclement weather and had our fingers crossed on the big day when suddenly we started receiving text messages and photos from friends and neighbors who reported hundreds of people queuing up long before the doors opened! The attendance was steady throughout the day and continued the next day as well.In the end, our 7,000 sf house was nearly empty and they sold everything from collectible antiques to clothing, tools, appliances and misc. electronics. We then arranged for anything that remained to be quickly disposed of and donated to charity the next day. The outcome was fantastic and beyond the upper limit of anticipated gross proceeds. Needless to say, the comprehensive tag sale approach was a preferable option compared to on site auction or remote auction house. I highly recommend Magnolia if you are considering a move or liquidation- they deliver!

Dora Zaharias: I wasn’t too impressed with the initial phone call. The customer service representative was difficult and borderline pretentious. Everything was a problem, and the phrase “I’m just not sure I’m a good fit for you” was tossed around multiple times. Guess my family’s businesses always took the “if there’s a will, there’s a way approach.” Though, I’m still trying to figure out why we wouldn’t be a good fit?1.) We have a good mixture of big ticket items, collectibles, antiques, and generic pieces. 2.) We offered to supply all the labor and bring storage unit items back into our home. 3.) In 2021, we had a successful sale in Nashville, TN so we are familiar with the general process, etc. Needless to say, we didn’t get around to making an appointment for an actual consultation. Needless to say, I’m glad we didn’t.(Attached are pictures of the dining room table that were requested numerous times. Oddly, no other pieces were discussed. We just kept circling back to the table instead of talking about what the sale could look like as a whole.)

I’d previously had a bad experience with a local estate sale franchise company so was a bit worried before I met Barbara. She immediately put me at ease. They put such care into the many many hours they spent preparing for the weekend event. She provided me direct feedback on items she did not think would sell (and she was consistently right!). We had a walk through before the sale to review prices as well as discuss how to handle certain items if they didn’t sell the first day.
