Tanya Maria: Former patient. No need for the cute response from the practice about contacting you to fix it. I won’t. My surgery was successful I had the sleeve 5 years ago and haven’t regained more than 10-15 lbs. I’m down 120. I work out 5 days a week and eat clean, so that part is fine. The practice however is one of the worst I’ve ever come in contact with for patient care. They have zero respect for your time. You will wait for hours to be seen and they will not care. I have been to the 1, 3 and 5 year post op appointments and can confirm everything reviewer’s are saying here about the wait time is the gospel.

They were very professional, always responded to my messages and truly did a fantastic job.I had no complications or pain after surgery other than gas.Thank you team for helping me make the best decision in my life.

Chelsea Campbell: Dr Pilati is the absolute best. He got rid of my pseudotumor, got rid of my back aches, vision loss, etc. with the duodenal switch. I've lost 178 lbs. with following my diet (…for the most part, lol) and I no longer see food as an obsession. I would recommend anyone looking at Wake Med Bariatrics to go ask for David Pilati and Jess! Their team is the best. They get you in when you have issues, respond on mychart quickly, and do not rush you during your appointments. They take their time, and talk about all surgery options and help you narrow it down to what you'd like, and try to help you reach your goals. David is pretty straight forward. He can tell you statistics on weight regain for each surgery, and all the possible complications for each surgery. He does not push you to get a specific surgery. I've surpassed what he'd thought I would lose (150 lbs.) and 3 years out I'm sitting at 143lbs. That is where my body is comfortable. Again, Thank you Dr. P, and Jess for changing and restoring my life. I'm forever grateful!

Pazzie: The physician I had was fine (Dr. Bruce). The staff on the other had is a MESS!!! From the person that answers the phone, to the person that verifies your appointment and on down the line. Some of the RUDEST and UNPROFESSIONAL people I have encountered. I actually HATE calling the office because I know there is going to be "attiude" from the beginning. Crystal, is the only person I've ever spoken with that doesn't seem to be a complete and total piece of work!!

Brian Green: Paul Enochs almost killed my wife. If he is doing your surgery, run like you are being chased by a bear. Once your surgery is done and the check clears, he will give you the run around. I guarantee he has plenty of lawsuits and might have another one on the horizon.

Heidi Besancon: I will preface that I have had no experience with the doctors. I called the office to setup an initial consultation to convert from sleeve to bypass. I was told before they schedule appointments they need my medical records. I was directed to print out the generic WakeMed ROI and fill it out and fax it to their office with all of my past surgeon's information. I did that. When I called to confirm that WakeMed Bariatric had recieved my ROI I was rudely informed by Charyl that "they don't request records. I need to get a record release from my old surgeon, fill out the release, then have my surgeon fax them the records". I was honestly floored, I've worked in the medical field for 2 decades and never once have I had a doctor's office refuse to request my records and that I need to request them and then have them sent to them. I stated my confusion about it to Charyl in which she said "we just don't do that here". This was after I called their office on Friday, was directed where to find WakeMed's form and to make sure to fax it to the their office. In all honesty it would've taken Charyl 2 minutes to fax the release to my surgeon's office, but she refused to. So, I definitely will not be pursuing any sort of care through WakeMed Bariatric.

The level of communication is excellent and I can not stress this enough, not once during the process did I EVER feel rushed or like I was not heard. To me that is everything!!!!

WakeMed Bariatric Surgery has been great to me and they have a complete GEM of a doctor named Dr. David Pilati and his awesome nurse Jessica is just as special. I remember being so embarrassed when I entered the office for the first time; just knowing they would shame and ridicule me for getting to the point I had but NOT ONCE! They made me feel supported and so valued! From the receptionist to Dr. Pilati, each staff member makes sure you know you have them as a resource and that they support your journey! I started my journey, December 2018, and after completing all the steps to get approved for surgery I had a successful Duodenal Switch procedure on April 24, 2019! I have lost over 135lbs! Not to mention the almost 20 lbs. prior to surgery that was lost during my process of getting approved. The nutrition team is top notch as well! Overall, if your even considering surgery you cannot go wrong with giving them a call. I’m sure all the surgeons are amazing but I can say without doubt, I recommend Dr. Pilati 10 times over!!!! From his awesome bedside manner, caring personality, straight forward conversation , yet personable style of doctoring, he’s just SUPERB!

Will it come right back (plus more) and you won't have the skills needed to prevent that? Yes. Having used this method of weight loss for years and always gaining it all back (plus developing an eating disorder in the process) and wondering what is wrong with me-- I urge you to seek out a dietician and embrace a "lifestyle change" instead of taking this course. Samantha Brown: So I had a consultation today... the doctor was in a rush stating "I have somewhere I have to be" (after they called and moved my appointment up) which I feel was not the best first impression. Also it was not properly explained that you have to make a second appointment and you cannot move forward with a plan for treatment the same day. A treatment plan was never made and no prices were given or discussed.I was so excited and motivated to start this journey but after today I left feeling unmotivated and discouraged.
