Amanda S: Southern express is an irresponsible company who sends their busses out without full inspection and leaves their bus drivers high and dry on 11 hour trip to Alabama. I would never recommend this company. This company was OK with sending a bus out on an 11 hour trip that had a tire that was completely bald and the wire thread visible. We got 4 hours into our trip and the bus drivers were pulling over again to stop at a semi depot to see if the drivers could get the tire changed. The lead driver was OK with the other driver driving on a tire that was bald and in dire need of changing. The bus drivers tried to call the are 24 hour service and their bus depot back in Apex and could not get ahold of either one. It took the parents that were on the bus to get ahold of a tire repair shop that had a 24 hours roadside service. This company was/is neglectful to the safety of consumers that use their busses. There were at least 90 people between 2 buses with most of them be children. This company has been billed many times for the tire being changed in a emergency but does not care to paid. This company failed to make sure that people were safe while using their company. Think that driving on a tire in this condition is endangering the many lives that were on the bus. Southern express could careless about safety and more about the amount that they make in profit.

D Rose: Attended school field trip. 1)Driver came to full stop in right lane on 64 west to wait for second bus. 2)Driver decided to skip major highway path home with no logical reason as Waze and Google maps showed now delays.3)On smalller two lane highway, another truck and storage trailer pulled out in our lane. Bus driver moved to other lane but proceeded to honk several times at offending driver. Didn’t seem wise to me as road rage can happen in these situations and we had bus full of elementary school kids.
Wayne Weeks: Just returned from a trip to Nashville Tn. We used Southern Express for our coach service. We had a wonderful trip thanks to Southern Express and there wonderful driver "Ronnie Basden". On most of our trips Ronnie has been our driver, we have had others over the time, all have been friendly and pleasant to work with. During any trip, things can happen, remember a coach is a mechanical vehicle and the important thing is the bus company doing everything they can to solve the problem and getting us back on the rode again. A commented bus company with experienced drivers and a knowledgeable office staff can make this happen. That is why I recommend Southern Express for your next trip. We do not know all you staff but would like to send out a thanks to the people we do know (Vance, Jackie, Craig and Ronnie) Looking forward to traveling with you again!

Tammy Powell: Used Southern Express for our senior class trip. Vance was an excellent driver who made sure we all were safe and happy. When the hotel wasn't near places to eat (we were told this by hotel staff) he took it upon himself to drive us to a section where the kids had plenty of choices to eat. He went beyond expectations. Will use again and already have him on the board for future school trips.

Alyson P: Just thought people may want to know that the driver of the bus with the plate LA 20439 almost caused an accident where my husband and I were driving on 85 at approximately 10:35 pm. He cut us off without enough room for us to brake and we neatly got in an accident avoiding hitting him. He obviously isn't concerned for the passengers on his bus, or with other cars on the road.
scott tharrington: while I don't have experience with southern express. all of you who are unhappy should call AT&T charter service. they have the best bus fleet bar none. the drivers are great and do a super job.
Alex Ranieri: This company is awful. After bus #1 broke down, leaving our group stranded at a Fudruckers for over 5 hours, we were presented with bus #2, no air conditioning. Then bus #3 arrived and it broke down on the side of 95 with an overheated engine that filled the cabin with smoke. The trip should have taken 8 hours and 15 hours later we are still stuck. Oh and we can't get the bus turned on long enough to open the baggage storage. Side note, our bus driver has been fantastic through all of this!
Lynn Kyle: There are so many issues with this bus company I felt I had to review to save others from the experience. I book several trips a year and used this company for the first time after a recommendation from a fellow travel agent. Minor problems: I was assured WiFi was on the bus. I had to refund 1 client because I sold her the trip based on WiFi availability. She was supposed to log in to take an exam online for college at a certain time. She was unable to do so. WiFi worked for 2-3 minutes, then cut off. This was due to a last minute change on one of my 2 buses. They overbooked their buses, so they used another inferior company for one of my buses. It was an old bus, no WiFi, but had a limited airwave hooked up and had not been properly "aired out". It was obvious smoking had been allowed on the bus.On the 2nd Bus, 2 TV screens did not work. One had a black picture and the other an extremely bright solid white screen. Based on my contract, there was no guarantee either of those items working, however, it was frustrating and falsely promoted on their website and phone conversations.. I was assured when I signed the contract several months earlier, their buses were newer and "top notch". Not at all.Main Concerns: My emails and contract were very specific to departure plans yet neither driver had a clue when we were actually leaving. They came to the departure site 12 hours early. When I called the company, I was told the drivers left out that morning before the office manager came in. They should have been told their itinerary and plan way before then. One thought we were leaving that morning, 9AM for New York. Our departure time was 9PM. The other driver the told us he wasn't called to drive until Thurs. morning at the LAST MINUTE. He lives in Elm City, therefore the hotel room I paid for to guarantee his 9 hours off was never used. When he arrived Thursday night, he told me he'd never driven that kind of bus. He said he was very unfamiliar with the controls and said in front of my passengers he didn't know how to work some of them. That gave them an uneasy feeling, then when he hit the toll booth, they felt even more uneasy. My question is why did we not have one of their drivers assigned before the day we left? Mr. Danny said he'd never driven in NY and Mr. Bobby said it had been many, many years since he'd been. Again, when I signed a contract months earlier, I was assured their drivers went to NY often. I had to navigate how to get to the hotel to a very nervous driver. GPS was not up to date.On the return, one driver said he was taking the bus back the next day and the other said he was going to drive straight back to Greensboro, yet I had to pay $125 each for a 2nd driver to come "take over" so the original drivers would not go over their hours. The relay drivers I paid for were never used. On the day of departure, I had paid for 2 hotel rooms as the company required so they could "rest " before leaving. Since 1 driver lived less than 8 miles away and was only called that morning, neither room was used.The toilet stopped flushing after 5 people used and 1 hour after our first stop. I asked the driver to contact the company about having it repaired while they were "off duty" for 2 and a half days, since we did not use the buses during our stay in NY. I was told on Sunday, it wasn't his problem. Parts had to be ordered and the company had to take care of that, not him. He only got paid to drive.My guests are used to things going very smoothly and were surprised at all the issues this time after reading on the website the description of the buses and that is not what we received. I contacted the company about these issues with a long email. The office manager promised on several occasions I would hear from the owner. It has been several months and not even a reply from the company or offer to refund the overcharges. I would not recommend using this company due to quality and customer service problems as well as false advertising and over charging for items required but not needed or used.
JE Judkins: As we celebrated our 90th consecutive family reunion with a trip to Charleston, SC, I want to congratulate this bus company and driver David Cable. The bus was clean & well equipt with the latest hi-tech gadgets & bathroom. Our driver was professional, kind & considerate of our needs. I would definite recommend this company to anyone.

My family reunion trip to Gaithersburg, MD began with departure from Durham, NC and a riding tour of many of the monuments in Washington, DC. We were able to disembark at the MLK Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial and visit the Vietnam and other war memorials before joining family in Gaithersburg. Our driver, Mr. Keith Davis, was very courteous and always on time for each leg of the weekend trip. The bus was very clean and comfortable and we had absolutely no problems with the video equipment nor the air conditioner on this very hot weekend. My family truly enjoyed this experience and unanimously agree that we should request Mr. Davis and Southern Express for future trips.

Felicia Glenn: Trip was booked for Northside Elementary’s 4th grade beach trip …. The bus DID NOT SHOW!! Luckily Holiday Tours was contacted and saved the day for the kids……. There is absolutely no excuse for the lack of professionalism that happened today. Needless to say, Academy’s services will no longer be used.
Eric Webb: Even though there were contracts and an invoice, they ghosted an elementary school for a beach field trip. 100 kids up at 4 AM with no bus. Field trip canceled. Do not rely on them.

Maria Elena: This company was used for my son's field trip. The bus had no air on in 34 degree weather(we froze for the entire 3 hours), the wifi was HORRID, and the in bus movie kept freezing and skipping.
Letisha Cobb: Who in 2019 uses noisy compression brakes on a tour bus. That's redneck all the way. Very noisy inside. Not recommended. Rode the bus at PNC Arena and had to listen to those brakes all the way. Not familiar with compression brakes...google it before booking...
Jessica Parris: Academy bus partners with the Carolina hurricanes and takes fans downtown after games (A great way to try to prevent drinking and driving and do something cool for fans to avoid traffic at PNC). One night I left my purse (along with my keys, wallet, whole life)... the bus company actually reached out to me personally and Claire Smith who works for Academy Bus was incredibly professional, easy to work with and most of all HUMAN. She cared that someone was missing a lot of the things that make daily life difficult when you don’t have them and very promptly contacted me not even 1 hour after the bus company openex on Monday morning to arrange when I could get it back. Thank you to Claire and Academy for being a company that cares about the people they serve. I appreciate y’all!!!

Morgan Weir: Rating 5 stars because I work at this location and the cleaning crew works hard to make sure the buses go out looking perfect, the mechanics work hard to make sure the buses go out running perfect, and the bus drivers work hard to make sure everything is perfect!
dcOdr: While the buses were clean and well kept, the driver was rude. Upon commenting on the driver, another driver asked why he would even need to talk to us. I thought that good customer service was a good enough reason but according to their standards, it was not.
