William Chen: ---Food: Overall 2 out of 5---- Baos: This was a decent bao, a 4 out of 5.- Lobster Buns: Basically a lobster roll but using buns, so it wasn't anything spectacular, 3 out of 5.- Cauliflower: Overly salted, felt like they were trying to kill me with sodium, 1 out of 5- Tuna: It was close to $18 for 4 extremely small & thin slices of regular tuna - wasn't even fatty tuna. You can order better quality nigiri a la carte at a nicer Japanese restaurant for the same price. 1 out of 5.- Yellow Chicken Curry: Everything was good till we ate the arugula, they overly salted the arugula as well. 2 out of 5---Service: 1 out of 5---So we booked through open table, and I mentioned it was for my wife's birthday, and requested a small birthday dessert with a candle at the end.We got to the restaurant, the front host asked what the occasion was for - I said for my wife's birthday. After we sat down, one of the waitresses pouring us water asked what the occasion was for again, and I repeated it was for my wife's birthday. Then our primary waiter came, and asked what the occasion was for... again. And I said it was for my wife's birthday (I kept a very happy attitude still). At the end after we were done, no desserts came, just the dessert menu. I asked the waiter if there's any complimentary small birthday desserts we can have for my wife's birthday, and this was his response word-for-word:"Yes we have small truffles that we can give her, but that usually comes on the side when you order a dessert."Now I've been to a LOT of nice restaurants with prices similar to Kō An's, and I'm always a pretty generous tipper so this isn't me trying to be stingy. Every birthday meal I've taken my wife too, the restaurant has always provided her with a complimentary small birthday dessert. This was legitimately the first time a restaurant refuse a birthday dessert by saying "I'm not giving it to you unless you order another dessert on the side". We felt this was extremely unprofessional.
Diane Brown: Food ok. Small dishes to share are mostly really small. Steak was well portioned but chewy. Spicy chicken dish was good but not as spicy as you would expected. Service was excellent.Parking: Shops and other retail around so parking is not a problemWheelchair accessibility: Everything is ground level and tables can accommodate a wheelchair
Carrie Miller: It's a beautiful restaurant with great service. It's a good place to take a large group because there's a lot of space. The food is good but I would say for the prices it doesn't stand out against other Asian eateries in the area. (comparing with Juju in Durham, MOFU or Brewery Bhavana in Raleigh).Poke tasted kind of fishy, and didn't come with any rice. The baos are more like dumplings (though they still tasted very good). Cauliflower appetizer was good, but like a less spicy gobi Manchurian.
Sophia Alexandria: I enjoyed this place. It has a very nice environment. This could be a very nice romantic spot. I ordered The Vietnamese Fried Shrimp. I really loved these. It came with a dipping sauce which complemented it very well. It was a nice, sweet and tangy flavor with a bit of spice. Just the right amount. I will definitely order those again. I ordered the Korean Bibimbap. The steak was cooked and flavored nicely. The egg was perfect. The kimchi was some of the best kimchi I've ever had. It had a really spicy sauce on it. It was a pinch spicier than I would have liked but overall it was very good. For cocktails, I ordered the Ricketty Ginny. I like that one and it was nice with the shrimp. I ordered the seasonal cocktail called the Bitter Becky and it was nice. It was bitter but finished with a sweetness. I loved how it was bitter and then sweet. It wasn't bad for a bitter drink. I am not a sweet drinker but I would say not bad. Becca was our server. She gave good service. I will be back for sure, especially for tge Vietnamese Fried Shrimp. You should check it out!Parking: Open parking. First come- first served.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
Jana Marx: Overall a disappointing experience. I ordered the miso udon and it was so spicy, I could only eat a couple of bites. The sparkling rosé was very nice and we enjoyed both the liquid chocolate and s’mores desserts. We sat on the patio which was nice, but there is a surprising amount of road noise. The service was just ok. I think we would have had a better experience if we had ordered small plates.
K Samana: If we had gotten a variety of small plates to share we may have had a better experience. I had planned on getting Bibimbop (Koren BBQ) until they said it didn’t come in a hot stone bowl (which is a key component so the rice gets crispy) so I went with the ribeye- which I wouldn’t normally get unless I was at a steakhouse, but it looked great in the pictures. And it was good. It’s mildly seasoned, but the butter on top and the spicy sauce on the side adds a nice flavor. The fingerling potatoes were good, but they were on a bed of puréed sweet potatoes (that tastes like baby food) and didn’t have much flavor and certainly didn’t add to the dish (potatoes on potatoes?!?) the salad was just taking up room and the dried radish (?) added nothing to the dish. My dining companions udon noodles were too spicy to eat (and she likes spice)- and there was no warning on the menu. The dessert bites were delish - a little burst or flavor that reminded of a Michelin course. Both deserts (liquid chocolate and s’mores) were good. If you are looking for something fruity and a little lighter, I’d go with the liquid chocolate. But the chocolate squares in the s’mores was divine.

S Tam: This place is too much.....in a great way! It's deceiving from the outside, the restaurant is very large inside with several indoor and outdoor areas. The separation of these areas makes dinner feel intimate while allowing the restaurant to seat many guests. This is farm to table with a seasonal menu. The drinks were fabulous!!!! We tried every one of the speciality drinks, Rickety Ginny was our favorite, the dragon fruit makes it a bright purple color. Super fun. We enjoyed several small plates including himachi crudo, cauliflower, lobster buns, bao, poke and tuna truffle roll. Every one of the small plates was unique, carefully prepared with small details in seasoning and garnish and tasted FABULOUS! The chef has perfected southeast Asian with a fusion of unique flavors that play on your palate. For dinner we had the Thai red curry which is an explosion of fresh seafood and the Korean BBQ which is perfectly marinated hanger steak in a bowl with lots of fun ingredients to mix in. For dessert, we had PX dessert wine which perfectly paired with freshly baked cookies and the best carrot cake I've ever eaten. I'm not sure what the chef did with the sweet brine for the beets that garnished the cake, but those were next level unique and tasty. We will definitely be returning soon!
Leighton Ashley: Vegetarian options: Exceptional presentation and fantastic dishes. The best carrot ever! We had a wonderful dinner parry.

Tangerine Cafe: what do users think?
Kori Hennessey: Delicious food! I’m sad to see they’re closing for good!
Sterling Franklin: 11/19 Update - Very sadly, Tangerine Cafe is closing its doors.Food was amazing, and thanks to the Tangerine Cafe staff for 16 great years! If you all ever decide to go delivery-only/no-building-lease-but-make-tasty-food, you still have a lot of customers who love your food! [Original Review Follows: Tangerine Cafe is my favorite Lunch restaurant -- tons of options and everything I've had ranges from good to excellent. The Lunch setup is Soup + Entree and extremely affordable, and I'd recommend that. It's really tough to beat. My favorites are the Thai Coconut soup, Coconut Rice Pudding, and the Indian-Style Curry Chicken. Closed Sundays and Mondays currently (check their site for updated hours just in case, though).]
Steve B: They announced permanent closing effective November 19, 2022After 16 years, Tangerine Cafe will be closing its doors for the last time on Saturday, November 19, 2022. It's been a great run and we're grateful to all of the wonderful staff that have worked with us through the years, as well as you, our loyal customers. We appreciate your business and all of your support through the years. Your continued support helped us survive through the challenge times of the pandemic and, again, we are grateful.Faced with the decision to sign a long-term lease to continue in this space, we decided...it's time to take a break. Tangerine has always been a small, family-run business, and keeping our doors open in recent years has been a challenge. Again, we have nothing but gratitude for the staff and customers that have keep us going, but again...time for a break.THANK YOU AGAIN and we hope you'll come by for a final meal (or two, or three) before we go.
Prajitha Hariharan: Love this place for the food and customer experience. Sadly it's no dine in but food is yummilicious . We love the Mei goreng and pad Thai in particular. We like it spicy and they just hit the right nodes on the spice levels. It's our go to place for any Thai food from years and they haven't disappointed us even once.
James Howard: Excellent food. And they serve Laksa, a rarity!
John Eakes: I got the Lunch Nasi Goreng (Chicken) with Indian lentil soup and the Crispy Calamari. Some of the best food I have had in a while! Really good stuff!
P J: Best Asian food in town. We order Singapore rice noodles almost all the time.Big drawback: Hard to order by phone for pick up during weekends, always busy I guess! Small place to dine in!Dine in: Yes Takeout: Yes …More
michelle: No dine in currently.Went here for dinner and was told that food would take 1 hour to cook unless I ordered something ready made like soup or some appetizers. Walked out without ordering.I understand that they are understaffed from the sign on the door, but it's hard to support a restaurant that isn't equipped to make food within a reasonable time. If you plan on ordering from here keep in mind you would need to order ahead of time!
Johnny: First time trying this place and let me say it’s absolutely great. Give this place a try if you haven’t already. Best quality Thai for the price in the area. 🔥🔥
NSA: A M A Z I N GSome of the best chicken satay I've ever had!!Every dish here was really good. great music, nice vibes, great portions and will definitely come back.best Thai I have had in North CarolinaEDIT : THEY HAVE RECENTLY BEEN UNABLE TO SEAT PEOPLE AS THEY HAVE BEEN UNDER STAFFED. PLEASE CALL AND ORDER PICK UPS IF YOU CAN .PLACE IS WORTH SAVING, THE FOOD HERE IS GREAT
David Abbott: Excellent dishes from a variety of Asian cultures. Very convenient take out. Pleasant dining area and wait staff as covid permits.
Lilla Von Duhon: The food here is so delicious. I could eat here everyday.
Juan Morales Patino: This is not Traditional Thai food. Hear me out...I recently moved from Seattle,WA. A city well known for having strong Asian cuisine. [Thai, Vietnamese, Taiwanese, Cantonese, Chinese, etc...]. Having lived there for 5+ years I grew accustomed to eating these foods regularly and so having moved here I came with very different expectations.Sadly, the reasoning for the high reviews is simply because the majority of people who eat here have never experienced traditional Thai cuisine. Here is what I ate:Tom Kha [coconut soup]: This dish wasn't half bad, but the truth is that this simply isn't Tom Kha. It's lacking flavor in lemongrass, ginger, and consistency. Also, the soup is stingy on vegetables and protein. Most of the Tom Khas are generous on Carrots, onions, ginger, and chicken/tofu/protein of choice.Chicken Panang Curry [chicken macadamia curry in their menu]: The curry was weird for starters. It was watery, lacked depth, and for a level 3 spicy it was really dull. The chicken was basically Katsu.Pineapple Fried Rice: Their recipe is not bad. Very close to what I'm used to, however, over the phone I was told that spicy level 4 was "asian" spicy and it turns out it's not. This is mainly "American" spicy since the majority of people can't handle Asian spice levels. disappointing to be honest, but if you want spicy.. this is not your dish.Chicken Satay: Out of all the dishes this one was the most accurate. The chicken was well seasoned and grilled properly. The peanut sauce was on the thicker side but it was yummy. 4/5 stars on this one.Dumplings: I ordered the fried dumplings and they weren't half bad. The filling was disproportionate however. needs a little more. Not too shabby however.Overall Score: 2/5I'd you're looking for a place that is more on the Asian American side, then this is fine. If however you're looking for real Thai food, this is not the place.
Jackie Hedges: Everything I've tried here has been great. As a vegan, I very much appreciate all of the tasty, eclectic, vegan versions of dishes. We've tried a lot of the Chinese, Thai, Indian, etc.. take-out places in the area, and this is our favorite. Plus, the staff are lovely and helpful. You really can't go wrong here. The tofu tikka masala, honey walnut tofu, vegan chili chicken, and pakoras are some of my favorites.
Scotty DNC: Got the pad Thai. Ordered medium spicy there was no spice and no flavor. When they put the egg in the put the egg in with the shell. Bits of egg Shell throughout. Worst pad Thai I have ever had.
John Morris: We gave this place a try for lunch while shopping at the plaza. $5 for 2 spring rolls the size of your thumb? So expensive! The thai entree my wife ordered was missing all the essential flavors and ingrediants requisite of the dish. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't that great either. Kinda forgettable.
Maya Mortenson: Delicious food, and the lunch prices are a great deal (dinner prices are reasonable too). I haven't had anything I don't like. I appreciate the menu indicating GF/Vegan too. :) Highly recommended. Do note that during covid, they are only doing takeout lunch on Tuesdays.
M Lowery: I came in to place my order in person. The hostess came over to key info into the register, but did not greet or ask if there was anything she could help me with.I grabbed a menu while she stood there, but she still didn't acknowledge me, though I was the only person in line. She walked away and came back a few mins later. By that time, another lady came. The hostess finally acknowledged me to only ask if I could step to the side so that she could help the other person, because they had a 'take out' order. Rude. I had been standing there the entire time. Needless to say, I left.I don't own a restaurant, but I'm pretty sure that's not how u treat a customer.
Jasmine Wiggins: Supremely disappointed. I ordered take out right before 6pm on a Friday night and was told 1.5 hours before my food would be ready. That was fine with me and not an unusual wait time. I arrived to pay and pick up my order 25 minutes AFTER my order was supposed to be ready. My order wasn’t ready. I was told it would be another 30 minutes and was asked if I wanted to wait. It turns out my order wasn’t even started so I left. Waiting over 2.5 hours for take out didn’t make sense to me.I drove 25 minutes out of my way to patronize this restaurant to celebrate an anniversary with some take-out. I don’t think I’ll be back since my time and gas were wasted.
Sean Ryan: It can be a pretty long wait but the food's great!
Jake Wolfram: The appetizers, entrees, and desserts were amazing, and I could not be more happy with my meal. Will definitely be going back!

We were there for the 1st time and no one told us when we were checking out that there was complimentary soup and fountain drinks that we could pay for. Kay: I love Bibibop! I need to eat gluten free as a celiac and I’m so grateful that it is 100% gluten free! I’ve perfected my bowl, I usually order: purple rice, broccoli, potatoes, red cabbage, and regular chicken. There’s a pretty good variety though, so you can make many combinations or get one of the template meals. The atmosphere is very nice and they have secluded private booths and a nice patio outside. They also have free miso soup that is pretty good, and although their fountain drinks are a little overpriced they have some pretty nice specialty drinks such as different juices and teas, and soda of course. They also have some really delicious cookies that are the perfect consistency! I definitely would recommend checking this place out, especially if you’re trying to eat healthy or if you are gluten free!
Quinton Meagher: They have really nice employees and great food! The portions are quite good for the price. I have to eat a gluten-free diet and it’s amazing that everything here is gluten-free. I’d highly recommend the sweet potato noodles too — I’ve never had anything like them!Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free!

The sauces tie everything together really well. Always tastes fresh and healthy. Good value for money.Vegetarian options: Good veggie topping options, potatoes and tofu go really well with the noodles and sauces.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free and vegan options available.

Jenil Jariwala: We find this place recently in search for trying a new place for Asian cuisine. We are vegetarians, so initially I was skeptical about how the taste will be, but to my surprise, it was of top quality. Honestly one of the best vegetarian fried rice I have had. They do have limited vegetarian options but what they have is tasty! They are a small place, but the staff is so friendly, welcoming and always accommodating. Food is cooked here per order. Nothing is premade that I think stands out and the reason their food tastes so fresh! They have a patio place next to the restaurant which is really nice. Prices of their dishes are very well balanced. Overall, would love to go back and recommend it very happily!Vegetarian options: Pad Thai, vegetarian friend rice and a few others.

Al C: I recently dined at this wonderful family-owned Lao restaurant, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the experience! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and a cozy atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The menu featured a delightful array of authentic Lao dishes, each bursting with vibrant flavors and carefully crafted with love and passion. I personally enjoyed the S5. Sour Chicken Soup as it reminded me of my mom’s cooking. The owners and their staff went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was exceptional, providing attentive service and helpful recommendations. It was evident that the ingredients were fresh and the recipes were passed down through generations, as every bite was a true taste of Lao cuisine. The portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable, making it a fantastic value for a memorable family meal. There is also plenty of outside seating to the left of the building complex. I highly recommend this Lao restaurant to anyone looking to indulge in delicious food, rich culture, and the warmth of a family-run establishment.
Nicolas Witkowski: Stopped in today for some good thai food and was blown away. The Pho was amazing. pork egg rolls also amazing. Chicken pad thai was also great. I will be back again next time I am in the area. Gem of a place after eating bbq and fried food for a few days. Cinse Thammavongsa: If you want to eat authentic Lao food, this is a place to go! My friends and I come here all the time if we miss eating our parents food! Lao papaya salad is just like how my mom makes it!! The papaya salad on the menu is lao style just doesn’t have the meats included. Everything on the menu looks so good and true to Lao food! Lao & Proud!Everything is just so good we will for sure come back again!!My boyfriends little brother had the chicken satay with sticky rice & peanut sauce & he LOVED it!!Vegetarian options: They have vegan/vegetarian sauce alternatives for those who don’t eat fish sauce. It’s so good!

Kiran Chamarthi: Had been to this place couple of months back always Thai fried rice have been my go to dish here. The flavors changed a bit recently but it’s on a positive side so can’t complain. Tried the red curry it tasted more sweet than usual. If you one looking for some spicy food I would suggest ask for spice level of 4 else go for 2 or 3 if you are at lower spice levels. Small mediocre place to dine not so fancy. But usually quick in service.
