Cardinal Charter Academy: what do users think?
RW Precht: I think Principal Goff has done some great work since taking over last year. She seems to be building a solid foundation that had been lacking with the transitions of multiple principals in prior years. She has communicated well, defined expectations and addressed staffing issues. As a parent new to the area who was concerned about starting school, especially during a global pandemic, I have had a great experience here overall. There are always the typical frustrations associated with any school-and if my biggest issue is carpool logistics (which could probably use an improvement) then I can handle it.I hope that things continue the way they have in the past year and a half because I think the changes implemented under Principal Goff will help the school and the children. The school has listened to and addressed any concerns I've had. I think poor/mixed reviews from prior years probably don't reflect how the school is now and how the culture is shifting in a good way.
Mathew Sulentic: My daughter loves it here and we like the focus on curriculum and the uniforms. Kids these days know more about shoe brands than math.
Monica Martinez: School gets out at three but don’t expect to pick up your kids until 4 (even if you are in the carpool line at 2) because they have no idea how to run a carpool this year.
Abby Precht: My daughter just finished kindergarten. She had the best teacher and learns way more than I thought she would at the end of the year. The school has had some bumps, but I feel like the communication has been open and transparent. Great experience overall!
Guitar Hero: Ever since Dr. Draper, the previous principle, left this school has taken a bad turn all due to lack of organization and involvement. The bullying has even increased to a degree where my son now wants to go back to his normal assigned school.
Ben Dover: This school is easily one of the worst schools i have attended the teachers arent qualified and dont even care about whats happening Thx God i left to go to reedy creek easily a better school i dont reccommend sending student here
David Lilyquist: My Son Goes Here and is Doing Okay
Dinaya Smith: I didn’t I like some of the things, well 1st off some of the teachers pushed a student, And the teacher didn’t get a warning. I was very mad about that, The teachers don’t give the students 2nd chances, So far the Checkin is really bad that the food would be still cold. Please bring your own LUCH. But other than that I have no problem with this school.
Lavenice Carter: My son has been attending Cardinal since Kindergarten, and is now in 3rd grade. The school transitioned seamlessly throughout the pandemic from in person to remote, and then to a hybrid of both. They allowed for the parents to dictate this transition according to what we were comfortable with. When other Wake county school kids were running around my neighborhood not sure when they would go back to.school, this schools students were meeting in person with the parents that wanted the option, and did so without one covid incident throughout that time period, due to the excellent precautions they put in place.
Stephanie Lee: lots of teachers without teaching certifications, high teacher turn over rate, and every thing is so chaotic to the point that no on knows what is going on. Also, why does this place have a new principal every few years? What happened to the one that was at this school for the past four weeks? This isn’t a place for kids to learn… they first need a principal before any learning happens.
Blacknopink35 robinhood: Was clean very well maintained
T W: The school has limited offerings for advanced learners. Therefore advanced students become stagnant in their learning.Next, the science classes have no real equipment and materials for the students to truly explore and experiment with scientific concepts. The school has a very small, make-shift library. It seems that literacy would be a major component to most any curriculum and learning environment for children. It's disappointing that this is lacking at a school. The middle school student do not have something as basic as lockers. Because of this, incidents of theft have occurred, as well as students tampering with other's belongings, planting contraband in their peers' unattended to book bags that are left in homeroom as they travel from class to class without their book bags.Technology is lacking at this school. This is surprising since the school is located in the Research Triangle, a world renowned mecca for IT/STEM research. It seems that technology and STEM/STEAM materials and curriculum would be a priority, but it is not.Elementary teachers are not provided with uniform curriculum building guidance, nor the proper tools to instruct in the best manner possible. Teachers mainly "wing it" and do their best in creating content and curriculum that is basic and easy to come up with. This is awful. Many parents have complained regarding the subpar content that their children have been exposed to. Certainly not challenging or impressive, and that's a sad shame. The staff is not diverse racially/ethnically, which is also disappointing. The middle school side is a free-for-all with many instructors being young/inexperienced, uncertified, and more concerned with checking their cell phones than being attentive to their students. It is apparent on the faces of some middle school teachers and through their body language that they are disengaged and would rather not be there providing instruction or even working with youth. The staff (including administrators, instructors, and even Board Members and Corporate Office contacts) are poor in their communication skills- as in, some are not quick to respond to parental correspondence, others are unkind, short, and lack empathy in their communication, and still others ignore/ avoid contact altogether. There are several staffers who are racially intolerant to minority students and make it clear that they do not intend on running their classrooms in a fair and equitable manner. There are far more impressive charter schools in the area, and I seriously advise that you consider your child attending one of those before attending Cardinal.
Taleen&Yaleen: I love CCA. So far everything is doing great except for carpool ugh. Today the police came to get the cars off the road. Will i think they should fix the carpool y opening carpool doors at 2:30 so all cars can go in, there are 4 lanes in the carpool which they can use at that time instead of having us out on the streets, and cars fight. The main street doesn’t fit all cars. When the whole carpool is full they can have a volunteer at the light to stop cars from coming in until its 2:45. That way we all can be happy. All schools never keep their cars on the street like CCA. You can have a stop sign on the top beginning of carpool so cars wont pass it before staff and kids are ready to come out. Very easy and simple people. Please do that and fix our carpool problem. Its very frustrating. Thank you
Jeffrey Constant: It was ok but my math teacher wasn't the best
Karrie Walker: I love Cardinal. It is perfect fit for my kids. In the beginning my son struggled with reading. They helped him in everything possible to get where he should be. My son went from below grade level to above grade level. He went from hating to read to not wanting to stop reading. Thank the teachers and extra resources. He goes to school happy and says he loves his school. Very pleased. My second starts in the fall. Looking forward having him this great school.
Allison Anderson: We are finishing up our 5th year at Cardinal and have had a great experience with our two Cardinals. The teachers that we have encountered over the years are top notch and work really hard to incorporate hands on experiences to make learning fun. This year our 4th grader was able to dissect a frog and our 2nd grader had a "vending machine" to help learn about money as just a couple of examples. Other things we love include the extra hour of instruction for enrichment or extra help depending on the needs. (It also helps eliminate homework in lower grades and minimize before/after school time), two recess times for lower grades, the fact that we're not beholden to the WCPSS weather policy, specials including foreign language each week, full-time school nurse and very dedicated administrators. We also personally love the uniforms, it eliminates so much drama and reduces the scramble in our morning routine.I was leery of the K-8 environment initially since my oldest entered in Kindergarten, but having the older kids setting good examples has been really good for mine. He has watched the "big kids" on safety patrol and had them as "book buddies" and "assistants" in his class over the years and set goals for himself to be able to do that when he was older. This year he's been able to achieve that goal and is taking his responsibilities very seriously (as much as a 9yo boy can). As we approach middle school I am grateful for the smaller, tight night community that we're a part of. Middle school is so so hard and having a strong, quality peer group is very important to me.The current administration is phenomenal. They've made great strides to put us on the right track after a couple of really hard blows. They take parent input very seriously and have always been willing to listen to any concerns I've had.
COGDELL zarek: I Will Be A New Student Here Can't Wait!😄
CoolAB Artis: Can ANY PARENTS and STUDENTS give me a BRUTALLY HONEST review of this school. My family will be relocating to this area in August and the reviews are confusing because some saying its fine but not great and others are saying its bad, but not that bad....
Dmoney 23: Horrible school. Don't think you want to go there. Teachers are racism
MaZarek Cogdell: I Will Be A New Student There Can't Wait!
Miriam Carey: I went there for 4 years and all i can say is wow. The only 2 good teachers i had were in 4 and 5 grade. i was not challenged at all and i am so glad i left. parents beware!

Triangle Math and Science Academy (TMSA Triangle): what do users think?
CTY Z: (Edit: I have been in TMSA for 7 years so far and I am currently now in middle school. I am no longer in Elementary and these specifications are from 5th grade.) I am very, very lucky in getting in this school in the first place. During Covid, it is difficult to really get the schedule but depending on which teacher, I think my current teachers (not named) are really helpful and sometimes we read books and in the afternoon on some days we get to do some projects. The staff and teachers are really nice and very friendly. They also have a thing called "Specials" where it is something outside of the usual class where we do things like PE, art, music, technology, and STEM. (Note that Specials are only for Elementary and I don't really understand the Middle School or High School things) I would also like to mention that this school has Kindergarten and has Elementary, Middle School, and High school all together! They also have something called MAP tests we do during Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons. There is also a thing I would mention is that when you go to 4th/5th grade is that you get to pick something called Tiger Tails. (More information is possibly on their website) The only thing I can really criticize about is the carpool management but I know it isn't easy for staffs and teachers to organize it. It is something new for everyone but other than that, it is a very good school. I would personally, as a student, recommend this school and I'm not trying to sugar coat anything. It's a very good school and if you are finding a school for your child, please consider this school. Check their website listed on Google Maps or just search "Triangle Math and Science Academy Gregson Dr".
Tom G: Super nice Charter school.
Josh Tomczak: Some siblings of mine have been there, and overall it's been a good school to them. The education there is on point, but the bullying there is something they should take more care of.
Ankith Tatineni: Don’t send your kids here, lack of good teachers plus terrible support system just messes up your child’s chances at a good future.
Blanca Petrillo: TMSA is a great school, teachers work hard with kids even after school hours to haven kids get better grades. My experience has been one of the best.
MICHAEL CLARKSTAR: *The information herein is factual, and from being on location to experience said matters first hand. **Please note that all images have been censored for safety purposes, and this review is to be taken with the upmost-seriousness.For nearly a half month now I’ve traveled within the vicinity of the Triangle Math and Science Academy located at 312 Gregson Dr. Cary, NC 27511. However, during a normal diving route, which passes this institution-things took an absolute alternate sharp turn into “traffic-chaos.”My understanding is that Triangle Math and Science Academy relaunched it’s post C-19 open, and the amounts of traffic was absolutely unbelievable. Caught in an iron (vehicles) whirlwind crossfire of said turmoil was one’s self, with an endeavor to simply reach my destination, adjacent to the schools location in the area. What’s so shocking is that I witnessed no law enforcement or security personnel on location. No faculty serving as crosswalk guards or safety supervisors, and absolutely no order to the repetitive bombardment of traffic in all directions. If school staff were on location, which I’m sure they were; the appropriate numbers needed are not sufficient-nor are staff trained to handle this magnitude of heavy activity/traffic.The situation worsened, as road-raging individuals broke every traffic law written an invented a couple of new ones-for that matter. One older male subject passed nine (9) cars, then swiftly turned into the left fender of my SUV to avoid being hit himself. One word… Hazardous.I go on to say… Please look at the attached photographs. I would be absolutely in distress if I knew my children were being dismissed into said conditions. Seriously everyone… This is entirely unacceptable. While I understand Triangle Math and Science Academy is a prestigious, and well respected institution… These conditions herein require immediate attention, and rectification swiftly. These present conditions pose serious safety issues to the students; parents, pedestrians, and motorists working in the local area. Many individuals are simply driving through to reach other businesses, and locations. As proof, anyone can view this massive traffic congestion without even venturing to the school’s location, as highway 64 is like that of a blockade, and forcing unprecedented holdups of normal traffic flow.In conclusion, it’s my intention that this review be taken with paramount concerns, and that someone with authority via the school board administration, law enforcement or government official(s) will come forward-an recognize-this is a problem. I might add… Appropriate transportation should definitely be offered to any parent(s) compensating said school with tuition fees. I speak truthfully, and honestly in saying-I wouldn’t dare-send my offspring-into the chaos-that I experienced, and my heart goes out to every parent and commuting motorists-that has to endure said conditions weekly. I challenge anyone that can add constructive remarks bases of their experience to please-chime-in, and parents that can voice change directly to Triangle Math and Science Academy located at 312 Gregson Dr. of Cary, NC 27511 to please… Please! Make a difference-by expressing this factual information herein, and the conditions which are presently ongoing in your next Parent Teacher Administration Conference.Article byMichael Clarkstar
Syed Ali: It is decent.
Noni Gana: Very good and diverse school (37% Asian, 36% White, 15% Black, and 5% Hispanic). Great teachers, great academic. We are very happy with the school.
Thu Washington: We love Triangle Math and Science Academy! The adminstration, teachers and staff are very dedicated to their students. They care about student success and I just love how they know all the students' names. Teachers are awesome! I love seeing my kids thrive and being appreciated for who they are at TMSA. I also like the diversity of the student population and the school curriculum. TMSA is constantly looking for ways to improve the school because like many other schools there are room for improvement; and I can appreciate that. As a mom, I feel good that my kids are in a loving and supportive learning environment.
Leena Patel: It’s an amazing experience being a part of this lovely family! Yes, All the teachers , the deans , the staff members and the Principal are very supportive. In this pandemic, they have worked really hard with kids to provide materials and guidance! The drive through activities like the reading parade and the winter parade are the biggest encouragement for kids during this stay at home situation.TMSA is the best environment for kids to grow.
Umashankar G: Our kids are in first and 6th grade at TMSA. I have seen significant improvement in their growth in education. This is a fantastic educational institution.
Ashley Baquero: Very happy with our experience at the school. My child started during the pandemic. Communication and remote learning have been very good. Staff is top notch and academics very good. Appreciate activities the school has hosted, such as a winter drive-thru party, which helped students feel connected despite the pandemic. Very organized services and programs for struggling students, or kiddos with extra academic needs. Also very impressed with the speech services my student receives.
MERYEM BALLAOUALI: The school is great but during COVID the online school isn’t the best. Because the kids grade level went down. Most of the schools have already opened but TMSA or the board still refuse to open the school.
Inayathullah Hussaini: Great school!!! The teachers are amazing even with COVID and virtual learning my kids didn't feel any difference. Teachers were all the way with them to support.
tasnime skalli: mr danio and mr scranton are the best!!!
Phani Garimella: I like this school. Even during covid times the school maintained its schedule and the students spirit was kept up. My kids are happy going here. Both my kids go here.
Abderrazak Kitsy: Good place to have your kids in for school. Four stars because the school administration needs some work. Which is normal due to being a small and relatively new school. I hope they will do better and continue benefiting our community. Thank you
Supattra Wilson: I love Tmsa. During the pandemic the teachers are very attentive to all the students. I received the notifications fr the school messenger daily to inform me about my Kid school work , home work , his grades etc etc. we love Tmsa
Naweah Attia: My child has attended Triangle Math and Science Academy in Cary, since Kindergarten and honestly my family and I could not have been more pleased in the level of academic excellence the teachers foster in the students. In addition, They truly do nurture their personal growth.
Tyler rode: This school is okay, they arent the best with communication. Teacher wise though, they are decent. The "work" for most teachers is just giving out a packet and they say "do this" and will ask if you have any questions. It is mediocre.
H Redd: Great school for elementary/early middle school, 8th grade/high school, not so much, can't put down 2.5 stars so I'll give y'all 3

Sterling Montessori Academy and Charter School: what do users think?
Opp Slayer: MS REBBECA IS WEIRD
N8 Gaming: very poggers they let me make my ramen cups in the Keurig in middle school
Bemnet samson: Ong I learned nothing
Tyler Wu: C-12 good
Harrison Ramsdell: I can tell most of these were not written by students. In my experience sterling was fun in a social aspect but lacks options for curriculum and you don’t get to choose classes and doesn’t offer extra higher courses like other middle schools. I found that when I got to high school I had only basic information to get me through the year and it was hard to learn. Some middle school teachers were good like Mr. Tim the science teacher and Ms. Jen the other science teacher and Justin the history teacher. They were all good at there job and for me Mr. Tim helped me the most and gave me a love for science however other teachers were not good at helping and lacked qualification (most teachers were not legitimately qualified to teach). I wish I went to a different middle school so that I could have been more academically advanced but with the same people I went to school with. Talk to other students that have graduated before you send your kid here. That’s my advice.
Maaz Kazmi: As soon as I had left sterling for a public school it was really hard to adjust because we didnt learn anything here.
MaZarek Cogdell: Hi my family (cousins) will be moving and going to this school as new students and I have seen some comments where they were good but bad also so if anyone can give me a good comment let me know thank you!!
chloe: i am in 4th grade and i am in d14 and one of the teachers is really nice but the lead teacher is really me he is really mean to me and makes me cry alot he gave us 10 projects on the first week of school
chloe holland: Sterling was a great school until about 3 years ago. It has great qualities like teachers that acomadate, 1 on 1 lessons, challenging kids to learn more, and everyone does not have to be as smart as each other. MOST teachers are good but some are NOT. The thing about sterling is the middle school they can't settle our schedules and we don't really have freedom were 12-14 years old's were not kids anymore and they don't get that. Next year they are starting a (pod system) meaning that it's basically upper ellemalentary their are no more periods you just stay in one class. 5 of our teachers are leaving starting at the end of this week till the end of the year and that's the tea.
Santha Kumar: Sterling Montessori AcademyWe had an unusually difficult experience sending our 3 year old to the Academy. They co-locate 3, 4 and 5 year olds in the same class , but the teacher was not spending time with the 3 year olds. We were not sure whether that was due to lack of training or resources. But end of the day most of the 3 year olds had miserable first school experience and had to drop out after sometime.Would not recommend the Academy. Did not get to deal with Charter part of the school.
Omar Perez Pulido: I highly doubt it is what it used to be, but going here starting in pre-k through 8th grade, was a big part of what defined me as a person today. All the good staff that I grew up with are mostly gone, but hopefully they'll be new ones. I loved this school.
Suhasini N: This school has been perfect since 2017. I mean students are rocking in this school.
Alex Lepisto: This school is the best! The teachers a nice and the learning style is very good. Other kids I know go to normal Wake County public schools and complain about hating all the teachers and how bad the middle school, upper elementary, and lower elementary experience is/was and they find it weird that I have liked all my middle school, upper elementary, and lower elementary years. I believe that the only reason I like school is because the teachers take time to help you if you don't understand something, the teachers are very very nice, the learning still is great, and the last thing is it is more personalized so you can push yourself to learn as much as you want. The preschool, pre-k, and the kindergarten are great as well.
Miah Robertson: Sterling is the best thing that has ever happened to me. It has been such a huge part of my life, as i attended the school for 12 years. The teachers are great and also make you feel comfortable. It feels like a family and actually made me like going to school. You make forever friends and I will always be grateful for the experiences I had here.
Annika Christensen: This is an excellent school. I have gone to Sterling Montessori since I was 5, and the whole time I have loved it. Kindergarten I had time to learn without doing worksheets and such. I learned how to do basic things and how to enjoy work. Later that year I got a work plan and started doing actual math and stuff, but because of my earlier experiences I enjoyed doing it. First grade I did not have a good time. I got put in a very bad classroom, but that teacher is no longer here and now all of the teachers are great. Second through third grade I was in a different class because I switched. I learned so so much English, and I now, in seventh grade, am doing high school level English with straight As. In fourth-sixth grade I was very behind in math. Because I had excelled so much in English, I had gotten behind in math. My teacher worked personally with me and got me back up to grade level and above. Now, in seventh grade, my only problems at school are social situations, which aren't even that bad! I would recommend this school with all of my being. The communication is perfect, and from my friends in high school, they are doing so well and were so prepared. They feel as though high school is easier than the sterling middle school, and they love it. I would say, it is like winning the lottery to get your kid into sterling because of how the education is.
Saira Sadhwani: This school is amazing! I went here for 8 years and I feel very prepared for my higher education. The teachers care about how you're learning and growing academically, and as a person. I love the relationships you have with the teachers and how you can ask them anything. They are very supportive and understanding. I love the Montessori method and the Middle School really prepares you for high school! I love the fact that it is small and you can be friends with literally everybody! If you are having trouble in high school you always will have your Sterling family to go to. Definitely recommend :)
E Dawg: I went here for the past 8 years. Graduated this current year of 2018 and enjoyed the entire experience I had for the whole 8 years. Teachers were amazing and accepted me even after the mistakes you make. I am also pretty sure that they are one of the only middle schools that still give recess to middle school. Overall great experience, would recommend trying to get in with the lottery.
Shanaya S: Sterling's my second home
Hugh Janus: Made us blow us racks on the feald trip and took my lunch (and my phone). This school is for nerds
Howsen Quan: Great school, despite the small number of students, almost everyone can get to know each other. I was practically raised in this school and the experience has been better than most others' childhood. The lower elementary experience is fun and the place where you learn the basic and create friendships. Through upper elementary, things get more complex and you can start to do advance subjects. The middle school is where everyone from every class meets, the choice to do High school level mathematics is available.
Sterling Johnson: I like this school because it has an "Excellent" Name

Peak Charter Academy: what do users think?
Edit God: Honestly I attend this school, I am a epic gamer and most would say I’m a top g, but in my personal opinion this school is not a good one, they can’t afford a gym, or food and the teachers are aggressive and take this to seriously, like honestly it ain’t that deep.
Cesar Defillo: My son just started at Peak Charter Academy last week and so far I am very impressed and completely happy with everything! From the amazing tour we received at the school that was so informative and the whole ease of the registration process, to all the spectacular communication via emails and texts. Everyone that we encountered working at this school is so nice, knowledgable and helpful. I feel this school is really organized and just overall a great school and there are continuous emails and/or texts from teachers, the principal and the school staff with updated information...which is wonderful to have! On top of everything my son already loves this school since day 1, he likes all his teachers, he is excited to go to school, really engaged in all his classes, made friends easily and is overall just a great experience. It is a breath of fresh air compared to my son's previous schools. I feel so lucky to have him in this school. I can't wait to see how else this school will impress me for the remainder of the school year! Thank you Peak Charter Academy for being awesome!
Brilynn Cologgi: My two children have been at Peak since 2018. We are very happy with the overall experience the school is able to provide. I believe the principal is extremely involved and has great communication. The deans have also offered a level of professionalism and have been a great resource for information. The scholars are held to a high standard and I appreciate the dedication to being well rounded individuals. I would recommend this school and encourage parents to be involved in the PTO.
Sahith K: Great school just a few small gripes
savagexw: The teachers are very rude and if you are going to middle school, it is not the same as other middle schools. They treat you like kids and won’t let you use your phone at all during school and they have strict rules that should not apply to middle school students and do NOT prepare use for high school, at all.
Cody Hand: The administrators of this school have no regard for the physical and mental safety of the "scholars" and, when confronted with poor behavior, they deflect the blame off of the offending students onto the victim and parents. They fail to follow their own handbook on disciplinary actions, they have a stated grievance procedure that culminates with an appeal to the Board, but that appeal is never seen nor addressed. This is a poorly run school that tolerates bullying and is setting itself up for disaster. They neither care about the overall wellbeing of the children nor the needs of parents to know about incidents severe enough for the involvement of law enforcement.I would recommend, and have written a formal request to the state, that their charter be revoked.
Vihaan Kothari: My child has been at the school for 4 years and while he has made many good friends. As he entered middle school we both started seeing a decline in how things were run. For example, the students have close to no freedom of what a middle schooler should have. My son keeps complaining about how the teachers are constantly telling us to be in an "orderly fashion" as in facing forward, being silent and on the blue line like as if we were in kindergarten. The teachers and staff also seem to not care about doing anything about this. My son and two of his friends came up with an idea of starting a student council, where they brought up the idea to the dean, where it was said that he would ask Principal Pond to get approval and see what their ideas are. Its been over 6 weeks since and there has been no response as if no one ever cared about listening to students share their ideas. It seems like the school does not care about kids trying to share their opinions on how to improve the school.
Jenny Vogel: Excellent school. We have been here since they opened the doors in 2017. My daughters are both thriving and love coming to school. The school provides a safe environment that is also warm and inviting. Principal Steve Pond does a superior job of leading. To the negative reviews who discuss teacher turnover- I would point out that all industries are seeing turnover as a result of the pandemic (education, healthcare, hospitality, etc) This is not a Peak Charter specific problem. If your child is a hard worker they will excel at this school. The tiered structure program provides more opportunity for student growth than the AG programs at Wake County schools. I highly recommend this school to any parent who is looking for an excellent education for their child.
Rivka Chaimovich: Overall, I enjoyed this school. I went here from 5th-8th grade and I had a great experience with most of the teachers and students. The only only thing I really didn't like was the special ed department, which was highly under staffed. They did not follow my IEP like they should have and my concerns and struggles were often dismissed. Other than the special ed department, I think PCA is a good school.
Charles S: Please pay attention to the many negative reviews from parents and teachers and save yourself the heartache we experienced in having to unexpectedly and urgently withdraw our child from Peak Charter Academy. Don't be swayed, like we were, by the shiny new school or the awards that the school has received. It is all for show and they really push parents to vote for them multiple times so that they win these awards. At the beginning of the year, we quickly realized that our child's teacher was dangerously incompetent and made inappropriate statements to the children. She was so incompetent that she couldn't write a sentence without multiple spelling and grammatical errors. She also made basic math mistakes that her second-graders had to correct for her. We believed that there was a very real risk of our child learning nothing for the entire year. We thought that the reasonable thing to do would be to arrange a meeting with Principal Pond to discuss our concerns. We very politely requested a meeting with him. To say that we were met with a brick wall is an understatement! Not only did Principal Pond refuse to meet with us, but he aggressively replied that if we weren't happy, we could leave the school. No discussion. Shockingly, there was no desire on his part to even learn what the problem was, let alone investigate it. Basically, in every interaction with the administration at this school, parents and teachers are repeatedly given the message that “it’s our way or the highway.” They refuse to listen to or acknowledge feedback, let alone act on it, no matter how much the children might suffer as a result. Children are not the priority here. It is a draconian place where all that matters is robotically agreeing with the administration and that your child tests at grade level so the principal hits his targets and receives his bonuses. If your child tests above grade level, it’s tough, since there is no individualized or differentiated learning AT ALL (another lie spouted on tours). Sadly, if your child tests below grade level, you will be encouraged to leave Peak so that their precious overall test scores don't drop. If you care about your child's wellbeing and want them to be in a nurturing environment where they will love learning , please carefully read the multiple negative GreatSchools and Google reviews and DO NOT send them to Peak Charter. You owe it to your child and to yourself for your voice to be heard and for them to be the priority and that will never, ever happen at this school.
Rebecca L: If you are considering sending your child here please know the following before you do. Our child went to Peak for two years and this is the reality of the experience:Steve Pond, the school principal, only cares for his accolades and will aggressively back up his staff, regardless of what the issues are or how much damage is being caused to the students. We experienced amateur and destructive teaching every day during virtual school and our concerns were washed away with defensive ignorance. Neither the principal nor his deans will take any parent concerns into account and only protocols matter. Mr. Pond also polices the parents' private facebook group and, if anything negative is written about the school, he has it removed and emails a reprimand to the parents. I personally know three different families with whom this occurred.Students are factory workers and only test scores matter. If your child underperforms, they will be encouraged to leave - we saw this often, which was very sad. The work becomes overwhelming and no other option remains. If students are advanced, there is no true challenge or gifted program. Peak says there is no need for an AIG program because they supposedly offer differentiated groups. This is blatantly false. There is no differentiated work and there are no differentiated groups. All of the work given to the children of the same grade is exactly the same, as has been confirmed to me by several staff members. Our child is advanced and is now being thoroughly challenged in a WCPSS school where they let you accelerate through SSA and join AIG classes. She is finally blossoming and sees that school can be both challenging and fun. None of this AIG challenge or acceleration is possible at Peak. Be Warned that what they tell you on the tours and on the open days is completely false and made up to 'sell the school'. They are fundamentally against the idea of addressing or acknowledging the needs of advanced learners. The core work at Peak is drab, reproduced and dull. Repetitive activities lead to uninspired kids who quickly learn that this is what kids are supposed to do: work, sleep and repeat. There is no joy here, no love of learning, and the huge annual teacher exodus demonstrates how the lack of joy extends almost all the way up the chain. The principal finds joy in his fake awards (parents are pushed heavily to vote multiple times for him) and his deans' role is to maintain the almost dystopian Peak system functioning with its goal of keeping students proficient and strictly no more. When we approached the principal with valid concerns, we were immediately rejected without his even wanting to hear what the concerns were. He refused to meet with us (again, not knowing what our concerns were) and his response to our meeting request was that, if we didn't like it, we could leave. Witnessing virtual teaching was enlightening. Seeing so many students bored and hearing so many of their ideas blanked by the teacher in favor of them following the daily Peak mantra was very sad. We ultimately saw bright kids give up on creative and extended-thinking altogether and stop talking. We left and are very happy at our WCPSS school, yet are sad to think of the young minds still in the machine, losing their individuality and will to learn and think freely. We are extremely glad we got out.
Qiuxiang Ji: Our family is so lucky to be accepted by Peak Charter Academy . All teachers and staffs try their best to give helps to us.We are so much appreciated. Thanks again for Peak Charter great team!
-V: Please read the GreatSchools reviews. They are more accurate without the unnecessary sugarcoating by other parents. Would 100/10 NOT recommend your child(ren)to attend this school
Mindy Varkevisser: We have been very happy with our 6 th graders experience here. There are no clicks, which is huge for middle school. They can be themselves and the students are kind to each other. The teachers have been good and the principal is very communicative and friendly. We are grateful we switched, and now we don’t have the threat of being reassigned every year with WCPSS.
Hamid Nazir: Horrible experience we have encountered at the school. Principal has certainly some issues. In few words overly hyper and aggressive behavior.Extremely demanding and uncooperative staff and majority of teachers.it will definitely lower the confidence of your child. This school is in business cause of high demand of waiting list of the students not knowing that they are getting into boot camp. Please do your research before pulling your child into this school.
Nate Moore: I was a 2020 grad of peak and loved it. The teachers were always supportive and there was never any bullies in any of the years I was there. The staff, deans and principle were all kind. The only thing I have to say is that some of the rules were kinda ridiculous for middle school like walking on a blue line. But overall a great school and a wonderful community. I highly recommend checking it out!
MIT B: This school has so many unnecessary and harsh rules that do not give the same experience as a public school
olivia sasser: I love this school! To the front office Ms Shauna is awesome, Principal Pond is great, Dean Gorman, and Miss Walker. My son is so happy to go to school and we are fortunate to have found a school that will have such good impact on my son!
Noha Abdelgawad: I'm impressed with this school; it's committed to excellence in education, it always respects to the diversity, it keep emphasizing the morals and values. The staff is always helpful, friendly and accessible.Just missing High School.
Danielle A: We have been at Peak Charter from the very beginning. My son started the 1st year it opened and is now in the 2nd grade and he is doing very well. We are very happy at Peak! Principal Pond is awesome and always can be seen lending a helping hand in any capacity! We love the attentive staff as well. I feel that I have been able to partner with my sons teachers and the staff in general to aid in bringing out the best qualities in my son and also challenging him to do his very best! The school trips are fun as well as the extra activities they have for the children throughout the year continue to PEAK (lol) their interest again and again! :) When I ask my son if he likes his school etc. He always says he loves it and when on vacation he can't wait to get back to see his teachers and friends. His opinion really matters to me as he spends most of his day there. In summary! We love Peak! :)
Benjamin Rosen: This is Benjamin rosen, a former student at this school in its first years, this is a terrible, greedy and upright dehumanizing school that any parent should despise with a fiery passion. In my experience, I was suspended a total of 14 times for minuscule and trumped up reasons while the community of bullies thrived without consequence and the children and adults that made my life miserable were never stopped while I was repeatedly reprimanded and harassed by the staff. I would rather die than go back.

Amy: My good friend's child attends at The Magellan Charter School and absolutely love it there. High quality education with caring teachers.
Neepa and Danny Patel: Wrote a review previously that seems to have disappeared. We were told our number was chosen in the lottery in 2017. I personally went on the day of the drawing and was told we were selected. I called the next day to confirm and was again told we were on the “official list” of those selected. Then, to my surprise- we were told there was a mistake. They took zero responsibility in correcting their mistake. Perhaps it has to do with them seeing me and realizing we are not white? This school lacks integrity, honesty, diversity, and lack of leadership. I have spoken to a few parents there that have many unflattering things to say regarding teachers and how certain students and Parents are treated. If you aren’t white- just don’t apply
Isaiah Frimpong: Magellan should have PE
