I asked another person about this place that was waiting in front of me, and they just shook their head as to tell me this tailor isn't good. I headed straight back out the door.
Sihui Ni: I am afraid I have to leave the first bad review of this tailor. I brought a For Love and Lemons tank there to shorten the straps, which should be an easy job. However, she did them unevenly, one is significantly longer than the other. I called them and they promised they can alter it to the same length to the longer side. But when I asked my BF to bring it back, they kept saying to my BF "are you sure your wife does not have uneven shoulders? You know, many women have that problem, and they actually want it this way." How ridicules! They finally did it again to the same length to SHORT side! I am very unhappy about the result! It is a $200+ tank!Service:Alterations

I can't really speak to how my expectations were surpassed by this place of business. I recently took a jacket to a tailor close to me and had some patches sewn on - cost me more, the completion was later than promised, etc. I'm very, very pleased with turnaround on this particular "project" by A-1 Alterations given the complexity of working with a lined jacket this time. Outstanding! We had discussed during drop-off that I would likely lose function of a couple of pockets, and I was cool with that, but that didn't happen - all pockets are functional! I even left a couple other things when I left.
Had a dress altered here for my sister's wedding and it came out beautifully! The dress was done in a timelyanner and wasn't too expensive to get done! I had length taken off the bottom, the shoulders taken in and the bust pinned up. I would recommend!

Meron Wilson: I had an appointment regarding my wedding dress alteration. It had to have been the worst experience I have ever had!!! I was unable to get individual breakdown prices for the services I was seeking rather a total price. It was as if she didn’t want to tell me the cost of each alteration needed rather than a total she calculated away somewhere. Once I decided the price was as much as the dress and declined her services she told me I needed to pay 50 dollars but nowhere did I see that in the website or was mentioned during our call. When I was going to pay she was quick to mention it had to be cash or check. My husband had to run to get cash at an ATM with our 1 yr old in the back crying. I had provided the 60 dollars inquiring about a 10 dollar change. How ironic is it that she didn’t have the 10 dollar worth of change that was needed. I will not wish this place on anybody. Stay clear!!

Nicole Acken: Ruth did a great job altering my bridesmaid dress for me while I was pregnant! I had bought the dress early on in my pregnancy, without knowing how big I would get so I ordered up a couple sizes. The dress was too big in the top and not big enough for my stomach when I went in for a fitting at 4.5 months pregnant (and too long). Ruth was able to raise the waistline and alter the dress to fit me beautifully! I didn't even end up needing the extra fabric I had bought just in case. I went in for a second fitting about 2 weeks before the wedding (wedding was when I was 6 months pregnant), and the dress fit so well it didn't need any more alterations! Still fit very comfortably for the wedding! Ruth was great to work with and the whole process was smooth.

Gabriella Perez: I had the pleasure of allowing Ruth to alter my wedding gown. I purchased my dress at Lana Addison Bridal, it is a Pronovias gown, lots of lace so a fairly complex garment. She did a wonderful job. She had to take it in, up, shorten and take in the long sleeves, build a bustle, and build in bra cups. Lana Addison wanted to charge at flat fee of $800 to alter my gown which I told them was ridiculous. Ruth was able to complete all my alterations for around $600, this included three visits with her. The turn around was very fast. She did admit her prices have gone up some after COVID which is understandable in my opinion, she is a small business trying to survive. In the end I saved around $200 going to her and I did shop around first and her pricing was very reasonable compared to other reputable shops, a couple other shops were supposedly cheaper but their reviews scared me off. Ruth was very professional and helped me in and out of my gown, had a fan going so it was never too hot. Overall I am very glad I took my gown to her and recommend her to any other bride looking for alterations.Only Cons: She does not accept card, must pay in cash which ended in me having to leave the shop on one of my visits to go to my bank. Also on my last alterations visit we were picking out a date/time to come pick up my dress and she acted somewhat like she didn’t want to take the time for me to try on my dress one last time. I had to insist I be able to and when I came on the day to pick it up she had it at the front of the shop instead of hanging in the changing room. This annoyed me a tad but she was pleasant and helpful when I ended up saying again I wanted to try it on. The gown fit perfect and was pressed. So a minor communication flaw between us and not a deal breaker so don’t let it scare you off.In the end I highly recommend Ruth!Service:Alterations

She added a 3 point bustle, sewed my sparkly belt into the dress so it wouldn't move around on my wedding day, added a belt on the inside of the dress to hold it up better since it was strapless and took it in on the sides for me. I am very happy with the work that she did and would definitely recommend her.
Maegan Watson: Please be aware of prices quoted to you and shop around for your alterations. I called and made an appointment to have my wedding dress altered. When I got there, I put my gown on with no help offered. After about 5 minutes she comes back, and finally helps me button up the back of my dress. Meanwhile, it is hot, so I am now sweating in my dress. She tugs at the waist and briefly looks at the bottom to see what needs to be hemmed. She tells me it will be $450. I was shocked at that price. Her suggestion was just to not hem the bottom. Eventually, she came down to $250 with no bustle added or $300 with a bustle. I told her I needed to think about it as it was still more that I had planned to pay for alterations. As I was leaving, she said that she usually charges a $35 consultation fee, but since she forgot to tell me on the phone when we previously spoke, she was not going to charge me. That did not sit right with me, so I took my business elsewhere. I called multiple places and no one charges a consultation fee and most places you do not even need an appointment for the consultation. I truly feel she was price gouging me since businesses have been closed due to COVID-19.
Thuvi Tran: My partner and I were two brides on a budget. The dress I bought was a nondescript asos bargain buy. It was the style I wanted from other boutique dresses and the price I wanted. When Ruth finished my dress for me, it really made the dress mine. The fit was astounding. I felt beautiful in a way I've only heard people talk about. She shortened so many layers and did not lose the detail or lace at the bottom and throughout. The dress was tight along the hips and Ruth let it out in a way that still hugged and showed off my figure. For my partner, she inserted padding and made a built in bra for her. A beautiful bust line with no straps/bra bulge to worry about!We had to reschedule our wedding because of the covid -19 outbreak, and Ruth was nothing but completely accommodating. Her premises were clean and professional, both parties wore masks, hand sanitizer often and she had the windows open for us. Even with everything going on, Ruth was easy to communicate with and her work really does shine. I can not recommend her enough.

He not only gave fantastic advice on the best way to have them fit me, but even reworked a few of the pieces to fit my frame perfectly. They came out exactly how I envisioned them and exactly how he pinned them!The prices were extremely fair (I averaged around $50-60 a piece, some being way more difficult than others! And we're talking almost a complete reworking of half of the clothing!). Every piece looks like a couture designer item now and it was absolutely worth it!He's dedicated to customer service, and his expertise in designing and making his own clothes makes him by the far the best tailor I've ever met. It took so long was on my phone texting my boss bc I was going to be late getting back to work and she said you need to get off your phone multiple times saying it was rude. During the fitting multiple people called and she told them to go somewhere else calling them rude and said she would call the cops on them. While she was on the phone I notches there was a dead ROACH in one of the garment bags with a dress. She also told me that if the hem was wrong when I picked it up that it would be my fault not hers?? I left after an hour for a SMALL adjustment on ONE dress. I went to pick up my dress and she charged more than I’ve ever been charged at alterations and I asked for a receipt for expense purposes and she wrote the total on a blank sheet of notebook paper.Service:Alterations

I was given 5 dollars off my bill but would have preferred a half decent job.

Her accent was very difficult to understand. Botton line, is she is way overpriced.

At first I didn't even think the dress had been altered. It looked exactly the same. I was trying to figure out where the change was made. I put the dress on and it fit perfectly, then I noticed the little flowers on both sides that were from the part of the dress they used to expand it. I love it even more now. I honestly didn't think the dress could be altered to fit me, because it really didn't fit when I brought it in. I'm so thankful to Krystyna's for making me feel beautiful on my wedding day!

Natalie Roberts: Krystyna is amazing. I had to have extensive work done for a bridesmaids dress. It was about 6 sizes too big and it was about 4 inches too long. She told me in advance about how much it would cost, and because it was 3 layers of dress, it would cost me a small fortune. She was correct, haha, but she was totally worth it. I was worried because the wedding I was in was just over a month away, but she had my dress ready for me in 3 days! She does excellent quality work, and while it is slightly more expensive than another tailor, she is a wonderful woman to work! I will definitely return to her if I have more clothing to get altered!
Emma Fulop: I took in a bridesmaids dress for alterations. Krystyna spent 5 minutes with me and didn’t really listen to what I needed to be done with the dress. When I got it back (albeit quickly), it still didn’t fit properly but she ensured me that a quick adjustment would fix the problem. It didn’t. When I got the dress back home, I saw that the her tailors didn’t even bother to match their thread to the color of my dress and that the alterations that were done were extremely simple (which was not reflected in the price). I ended up having to make changes to the dress myself so that it fit better, because I was definitely not taking it back to Krystyna’s.

Jessica Interdonato: I took my wedding dress here to have the bust sized down a great deal after being told what I needed couldn't be fixed at David's Bridal (where I had bought my dress). The way it fit me at the time made me self conscious - which was definitely not how I was hoping to feel on my wedding day - but I was told repeatedly, "It's just the dress." I was discouraged when I took my dress to Krystyna's, but she assured me that what I needed COULD be done, and everything would be made to fit perfectly to my shape. She pulled and tugged in areas that I didn't even realize needed to be altered, and when my dress was finished, I felt amazing when I tried it on! I never imagined I could feel so confident in my dress, given my first experience with alterations. Krystyna and her team are AMAZING, and I'm so thankful I found her shop in Cary! I'll be honest, she is fairly pricey, but the cost is 100% worth it, and you will not be disappointed with what you bring to her - especially bridal gowns.

I called Jenny and she said she could have it done by Friday. My daughter went in for fittings, and I picked up the dress Friday. It fit perfectly! I really appreciated her willingness to do the tailoring with 5 days notice, and she did a fantastic job.
elizabeth cintron: Can resize T-shirts for a cheap price! I needed 4XL changed to XS which is a drastic difference in size. I won’t state the exact price as many factors can influence a price quote but I will say it was significantly less than the quotes I received from other tailors in town (and there are some who are unable to resize clothing altogether). Done quickly as well (1-2 weeks by the time I picked up).

I have zero experience repairing any kind of garment, but I figured anything I did even at my worst would likely look better.The pictures I uploaded with this review show her repair with the tulle bunched up and sewn together, and my attempt at the repair.I’m sure she’s an amazing seamstress, but if you need specialty fabric repaired, this is definitely not the place to go.3* rating because she was kind, quick, and wore a mask. Ernie Williams: Mrs Mee sold the place to new owners, and I'm highly disappointed. I went there thinking Mrs Mee owned the place and it's now Lapels. I went to get a patch put on a custom-made top and had it measured to the tee. When I picked it up, the patch was at least 9 inches low from the original spot, so they had to take the patch off and make the corrections causing an imprint of the patch on the old location. I will not be doing any business there.
