We adopted a puppy two weeks ago and because she was already starting to crate train at the breeder, training has been so much easier than it could have been. Our puppy, Daisy Doodle, is absolutely the best. She’s such a sweetheart and is incredibly intelligent. If you’re looking for an ethical breeder that produces the best dogs ever, look no further!!
Makkedah Diggs: I cannot say enough about the service and care I've received from Miss Tina @Lake Blue. Her babies are stellar and I love my girl Indira. She is our best friend (myself and my daughter). I would encourage anyone looking to run not walk to Lake Blue. The reality is, although the puppies may seem pricey, I've never met anyone who put this much care and work into their pups and breeding program, and it shows. Perfect strangers constantly comment on how beautiful and well mannered my baby is even though we are only just starting training. Communication has been awesome and I've felt supported as a new puppy owner. Best breeder ever!

Beth Wiley Breeden: We are completely in love with our Lake Blue puppy. At 10 weeks old, Merlin sleeps through the night in his crate, is well on his way to being potty trained, and best of all has a great disposition. He is smart, chill, eager to please, and fun to train. Ms. Tina, Mr. Jimmy, and Lake Blue helped us find just the right puppy for our family. They gave Merlin a great start, and it really shows in his temperament. It's also comforting to know that great advice is a text away, and I'm so glad that we chose a puppy from Lake Blue. We are committed to improving the health of our breed, so we breed only dogs with an OFA rating of GOOD or EXCELLENT (or the equivalent). We also test our females for DM so our pups will not be at risk for that devastating disease. We train following the book The Art of Raising a Puppy, by the Monks of New Skete. Reading this book will help you understand what we are doing and what kind of start this puppy has received during its first 7 weeks. We HIGHLY urge you to read their newest book Let Dogs Be Dogs also.

Bethany Vallangeon: I searched around for many months for a reputable GSD breeder that aimed to produce well-balanced, family-oriented dogs. Ransomshire shepherds/Ellen is an excellent breeder (for temperament) who truly cares about matching you/your family with the best dog. She puts so much effort into choosing appropriate homes for her pups as well as preparing you and your family for the new addition. She is a wealth of good advice and suggestions to help you raise your puppy. She let me visit many, many times and actually spends a lot of time with the pups in her own home and with her family. Pups get a great start with crate training and have excellent temperaments. She performs temperament testing at 7 weeks old. We have had several reunions with the littermates which have been an absolute blast.UPDATE (6/20/2022): My boy, who is now barely 2.5 years old, has rampant food and environmental allergies as well as hind end lameness/limping caused by lumbosacral stenosis (structural spine defect) and degenerative disc disease (IVDD). Concerned the focus on breeding is temperament to the detriment of health. Contacted Ellen with all this information, with lackluster response and lack of understanding that the working line/very active dog I specifically got for dog sports, may not be able to continue "working" at all. Not to mention the vet bills that have already been racked up with diagnostics and treatment. There was no offer to help with bills.
Carol F: I researched the heck out of Ellen and Ransomshire through the AKC, GoodDog.com, the GSDCA, through social media and word of mouth before I decided to even start talking puppies. She welcomed me out to meet her current litter and meet her dogs though I wasn't ready for a new family member just yet. I had suddenly lost my previous GSD to cancer and cried as I left. It did help me start to heal, though.I liked everything I saw about how the puppies were being raised, the conditions they were living in, their early stimulation and socialization, and how well adjusted they all were.Six months later, I was ready for a puppy. I was able to visit the litter weekly and watch them grow, play with them and watch them develop personalities. While I didn't pick one out during that time, I had faith that the right puppy would come in to my life at the right time.My Chaser (Storm Chaser) is a sweet, smart, fun boy. He loves to cuddle and romp and play. He's friendly and loves kids!I have had a great experience with Ellen. She communicates as quickly as she can and I know I have support for life. She gives 100% to each and every puppy that passes through Ransomshire. I would definitely get a puppy again from her in the future.
Jennifer: We could not have been more thrilled with our experience at Ransomshire Shepherds! From day 1, Ellen was incredibly welcoming and transparent. After expressing our interest in a GSD, she let us meet a litter of new pups & their moms GiGi & Angel (all beautiful & healthy). She showed us around her puppy area and all the ways that she ensures they are set up for a great life! The area was clean, cozy, and there was a turf area where the puppies eventually graduated to so they could learn to play & explore safely. She then gave us a tour of her gorgeous property, let us feed some baby goats & even gave us a dozen fresh eggs on the house! Jamie Womack: We visited a lot of breeders before deciding on a Ransomshire Shepherd. El does an amazing job handling the puppies and preparing them mentally for their families. The amount of effort she puts into every puppy shows. Her dogs are confident and well adjusted after experiencing lots of different things in their first weeks of life. She clips toenails every week to get them accustomed to the routine.
Steve Reavis: As a first time dog owner I was very apprehensive about the process of investing in a long term pet relationship. I was introduced to Ellen through a neighbor that had one of her pups. During the decision making process as to whether or not to get a pup Ellen welcomed me into her home and kennel and encouraged me to visit any time. Because of the research I did it became very obvious to me that Ellen was focused only on finding great homes for her pups and not on anything else. She requires an application and also requires potential owners to do some serious reading and preparation before approving an application. Ellen continues to be involved with my pup and has welcomed our litter mates to her home several times since I brought my pup home and has always been patient with me when I have had questions. Ellen is excellent at what she does and has been a blessing to me and my pup.
Veronica Gallagher: Randsomshire Shepherds is an excellent place to get a GSD pup. The breeder was great! She was always available for a chat or to answer questions even before we picked up Jesse. She has followed up with us and kept in touch. She is genuinely interested in the well being of her pups. The process was thorough. She clearly is concerned about where her puppies will be. We drove over 6 hours to pick him up and we would do it again. Jesse is well bred , healthy, and a great addition to our family. Joseph Morse: We're now on our second pup from Ransomshire. The first is approaching 10 years and the puppy 6 months old. They have some of the nicest personalities of any GSD's we've ever met. She puts a lot of effort into the whole process of correctly breeding, raising and finding homes for the puppies. They come home with as much early training and socialization as could be expected from anybody in 7-8 weeks time, along with plenty of advice about how to raise and care for your puppy. Obviously you still have to put your work in from that point forward, but she remains readily available for advice and guidance.
Paulina Kudla: My parents got a German Shepherd from Ellen when I was 12 years old. His name was Sarge and I have the fondest memories of the best dog we ever had. He lived until he was 14 years old and his hips never gave out. Fast forward to two years ago when my boyfriend and I decided to get a dog. I remembered how amazing Sarge was and decided to go to Ellen. She was very thorough in the adoption process and made absolute sure we were a right fit for one of her pups. She also made sure the pup we selected was a right fit for us based on our lifestyle. She went through great lengths in the first several weeks of the puppies life to expose it to as much as possible, and even began training, obedience, and manners. We received Ash from her and he is truly such an incredible dog. I bring him to work with me everyday, in a retail showroom, and everyone comments how well behaved he is and how calm he is for a puppy. He is so intelligent and has been a breeze to train. We look forward to spending many more years with him and recommend Ellen to every one looking for a one of a kind furry partner.

jillian Leigh: I am a first time pet owner. I did lots of research to find a breed that would fit my lifestyle. Once I began searching for a reputable Maltipoo breeder I realized that there are a a lot of scammers out there so I asked friends for a personal recommendations. A friend suggested Scales Lovable Pups and I gave Cortez a call. He spent about 45 minutes on the phone providing valuable information about his business and puppies. I never felt rushed or like a burden. Cortez was professional and always available for my many questions (I did say I was a first time pet owner right lol). He kept me updated with photos and video of my growing pup. From the initial call until pick up day I had a very pleasant experience. Cortez even mentioned that he would be a call away for future questions or concerns. That showed me that he really has a love for what he does. I would recommend Scales Lovable Pups to anyone looking for an addition to their family.
Hilda Alderman: I would highly recommend Scales to anyone who is looking for a breeder who loves and cares for their puppies and my experience with the owner, Cortez Scales has been the best opportunity I've ever had to get to know our fur baby Mollie's breeder first hand. We were very impressed when we arrived to pick Mollie up. We were provided with everything we needed from a bag full of starter goodies and all the information we needed to ensure she had everything she needed. Up to date on everything and wormed. She was already puppy pad trained and very smart and loving! After our visit with Scales we left in tears (happy ones!) And lastly with all the research I did I found Scales to be the most and best in their prices.

After finding him on Facebook & interacting for a few months, he definitely kept me informed of when he'd have the breed I was looking for. He is very accommodating & the puppies are very well trained & upkept. After going through a loss within my family I decided to finally purchase a Maltipoo for my younger son. Although he was terrified of dogs, Mr. Scales helped him get over his fear & assisted w/choosing a dog based on my son's temperament and personality. Overall we have gained an excellent new family member & the Scales family have life-long friends in us. Thank you!

After following him for awhile, I was sure that he was the right breeder for me. I drove from VA to pick up my new puppy, and I could not be more pleased. My puppy is healthy, happy and already very social. Cortez Scales was very compassionate and professional. All in all, a wonderful experience and well worth the drive!

I talked to Cortez and he was thorough, patient and he understood my concerns. He is professional and his word is definitely his bond. I was very impressed and so excited when I picked my Coconut up.
