In 2013 Samantha McClellan found herself at a professional crossroads. After many years of working with women and children in educational, counseling and advocacy settings she was searching for a way to combine all of her experiences and passion into one purpose and profession. So, she became a doula.

For Samantha, being a doula is about offering each individual family the personalized support and information that they need to come away from their birth experience feeling confident and emboldened, regardless of the form the birth takes. During the early years of her doula career, Samantha had the opportunity to be mentored by a number of other seasoned doulas, nurses, and midwives and soon found herself uniquely positioned to build connections between the doula community and the medical community.

When Samantha formed the Carolina Doula Collective she had one goal: to create a team of doulas that elevates the standard of professional birth support. Through actively building connections with area hospitals and medical providers and by giving new doulas structured mentorship and support we are striving to create the strongest birth support community possible in order to best support every growing family in our area.
