Ric Schank: Over the year we've lived in our new CLT house, we obtained 4 quotes to address drainage issues, described by the previous owner as a "little seepage with heavy rains" in the basement storage area, which turned out to be a "lot of seepage with moderate rains". Most of them suggested solutions that seemed to be wasted money, everything from blasting through the basement floor to create new drains, to replacing vapor barriers and sealing up the basement and crawl space, etc. Nick at Drain Designs Charlotte suggested instead a set of new drains to take downspout and runoff water away from the house to a back culvert. Made sense. Job completed a couple of weeks ago. After, we had a few light rains so the ground had some moisture a then a 2" steady rain - instead of water seeping in from all sides of the basement, there was a small trickle at one side. Then next day, around the corner with the trickel, I banked dirt against the house to slope away from the house towards the new drains Nick's team had installed. Next day we had a solid 1" of rain - a few drops entered at that corner. It's not perfect, but for an 85-year-old house, we're pretty darn pleased. We recommend Nick and Drain Designs.

When Jeff evaluated our drainage issues, he diagnosed the problems and created a well planned drainage solution.A few weeks later, the Drain Designs installation team completed all the work in just one day. They installed water catchment basins/grates and ran underground pipes from those basins and our gutters to an egress point away from our house.I highly recommend Drain Designs! They did everything they promised. Their professionalism and quality is top notch. Now, we have a dry yard and a more secure foundation.

The guys worked till 10 pm to beat the expected rain that night.The original home builder had made a few serious errors in drainage that only became evident after the digging commenced. Rob made corrections on the fly that took care of these issues.I would recommend this team to anyone with drainage issues
John Ladd: We couldn't be more pleased with Drain Designs as a company and especially pleased with the results of the excellent work by Rob and his crew. Our home has a concrete drive and sidewalks that slope to the front of the house. After even a minimal rain (remember those??), the garden area out front and under the steps of the front porch would be drenched and soggy for days. The side yard, where the driveway ends, was so soggy you couldn't walk on it after a rain without having your shoes sucked off your feet. The soil in the garden adjoining the rear of the house drained so poorly that the garden wasn't usable during the spring and fall. Rob and crew dug up and pulled the old, corrugated black pipe coming from the gutter downspouts and replaced them with smooth PVC pipe. Now, debris won’t get trapped in the pipe over time. Not only did they attach all the gutter downspouts to the new pipe, they added French drains at the front and rear of the house that are tied into the new system. Foundation drains for the HVAC and water heater were also tied into the system and two drainage boxes were added in the front yard and where the driveway ends.Now, any rain that falls or condensation from appliances is directed away from our house into the woods. The work was completed right before two days of heavy rain. When we looked in the woods after the first rain, we could see pools of water in the woods that would have previously been saturating the ground around our foundation. The very best part . . . whenever it rained more than just a shower, the humidity in our master bedroom (facing the driveway and sidewalks) would shoot up to between 60-65% causing us to run a room sized dehumidifier, sometimes for hours each day, to reduce the humidity level. The first rain after the new drainage system was installed, I checked the humidity in our bedroom. It was 39%! I was thrilled! We've had several more days of rain and the humidity level has not risen above 41%. The front and back gardens are nicely drained and you can keep your shoes on walking on the side yard.I was also impressed with how neat and clean they left our property after the job was done. It’s a little thing but it shows the kind of care they take and their professionalism.It's rare to find a company that keeps its word, does excellent work, has respectful and friendly staff, and excellent customer service. These folks care about the work they do and service they provide and it shows. I highly recommend Drain Designs.

Justin Williamson: Over a few years, what started as "Hmm, I thought that would be dry by now" turned into "I guess our yard will just be soup for the next week". We got quotes from a few drainage companies to help try to solve our issues, but the biggest difference between Drain Designs (Durham) and their competitors was the bidding process:They charged for the quote. Because of that, they did the most thorough job by far, inspecting what was going on with our yard, existing piping, etc. They uncovered things that other companies missed, and spent more time than any of the rest discussing with us what they thought should be addressed, and why. Ultimately, that quote charge got rolled into the job, so it ended up being free.Once the work started, there were a few additional hiccups that were uncovered, primarily around the usability of existing piping (which we had discussed as a possibility beforehand), that caused the plans to change early on, but Robert was very transparent with us, and though the cost went up a bit, we felt like the adjustments were reasonable.Near the end of the multi-day job, a tropical storm rolled through, and the crew were out here until nightfall trying to get as much done as possible ahead of the storm; we really appreciated the extra effort they put in. And Robert even came out on a Sunday to finish the job by himself.Overall, we were incredibly impressed by their thoroughness, transparency, and the quality of their work -- our backyard is actually usable again the day after a heavy rainfall, and we couldn't be happier.

Ghada Ahmed: I have been using Cary Plumbing for over 20 years. They do good work but seriously overpriced. I just had a service call about a leak. They charged $311.03 for diagnosing a leak that they will end up opening a wall for to explore where the leak is and replaced a toilet fill valve that is $46 for three valves from Amazon which would make it only $15 for the one that they used. They charged me $42 for materials. Had they told me this I would have fixed it myself. What a ripoff of a longtime customer. When I said something about this the person who answered the phone was a bit rude.Service:Toilet repair

Since it was the weekend, and not a real emergency, called first thing Monday morning.Talked to someone who took all my information and said the scheduling people would have to call me back within 30 minutes. The person wasn't sure they could get out today. Not expecting same day, just need to get it fixed.Within 15 minutes scheduling called back. They confirmed the type of water heater and said they would be out within a half hour. Tech called about 15 minutes later that they were on the way.Water heater replaced, they were cleaned up and gone before noon.Couldn't ask for more than that.Great communication. Great response time. Very professional looking install. They recommended and installed a couple of upgrades (new house shutoff that's a ball valve and a pan under the new water heater, both things I was going to ask for anyway).We will definitely be calling them the next time.My only complaint is that their off hours message should include their hours. Chris Wilson: I've been using Cary Plumbing for several years now and they have always done a great job, both in quality, and also in communication. This most recent encounter was especially good:A Friday evening our hot water heater died, and after cleaning up the water I called the after hours line. I got a callback very quickly and was talked through my options by someone who genuinely seemed to want to help me, instead of just get my business. All options were clearly laid out, and I was helped all the way. Though they don't do water heater installs on the weekend, they managed to get me an appointment on Monday.The crew was friendly and really did an excellent job. Where the previous heater had a mix of copper and PEX pipes bent at weird angles and the expansion tank suspended awkwardly, this crew did a very professional job. Ripping out and installing all new piping (including some in the crawl space) to make sure its installed cleanly, and even calling another crew to drop off a special part to mount the expansion tank really seemed like going the extra mile.I was talked through all that they did and they even kindly humored my questions about various parts and what they did, as well as maintenance.Very impressed and will definitely use them again.

Scott Bain: What should have been a straight-forward repair that took 1 hr to do (based or same repair performed before) ended up taking 8 1/2 billable hours. I had OEM replacement parts ready to simply be installed, but one part ended up being determined defective as soon as first installed (leaking). Long story short: multiple hours spent trying to fix defective part rather than just ceasing the work, having me order another one, and reinstalling it (which worked).Service:Shower repair

J C: I don't understand the other reviews saying they had fair pricing. They came out to the house twice and charged me an hour travel @ $90 each time. Their address is 1.2 miles from my house and is a 3 minute drive away. Even if they charged from job to job I really have a hard time believing it takes an hour from any two points in Cary. So that was $180 just for them to drive to the house plus the time it took them to diagnose the problem. I even did the excavating to access the line outside the home. Then they diagnosed the problem and said they had to dig up the pad in the house to fix it. After several days Terry gave me an estimate that was ridiculously high. I called a few other companies and they all came out with no travel time charge and properly diagnosed the problem. Their estimates were 1/3 or less than the price Terry gave me saving me thousands. I got it fixed in one day where Turner was going to tear into our living room and disrupt the inside of the house unnecessarily on a job that would have taken days. I would highly recommend calling Cary Plumbing or anybody else but these guys.
Andy Philpotts: I have used Turner plumbing several times, most recently they did a great job reconnecting our kitchen sink, waste disposal and faucets, very reasonable rates, gave me an estimate ahead of time and came in under that.
