Cyndi Raper: Here it is, the weekend before the 4th of July and you would think that a restaurant that is voted number one in North Carolina for its barbecue would have planned better when they were ordering meat. I'm always interested in only the brisket at barbecue joints and they have run out at Big Mike's. Additionally, their menu lists the Big Mike's platter as having cornbread on it and cornbread is also listed as a side item , but they don't sell it anymore, but who would bother to remove it from the menu so you don't confuse your customers. I certainly can't rate their food since I don't get to eat it today. Very disappointed new customer who can't believe you didn't plan better for the 4th of July food rush!

Claire: We decided to give this place a try as the reviews looked like it had to be a must try for bbq. We ordered pickup and we were sadly very disappointed. Here’s the rundown on what we ordered:Brisket- super dry and not tender, couldn’t even rip it apart, almost seemed like bad quality meat perhaps?Chopped bbq- seemed fine, dry but was tender so it was okay, nothing super special.Ribs- dry, again like the brisket, and we couldn’t even get the meat off the bone, our dog even gave up, and that is very telling on how tough the meat was. Couldn’t even chew it.Mac and cheese- boring. Needed salt.Potato salad - huge disappointment, it’s literally just potatoes in the Mac and cheese sauce, flavorless, mushy, we each had a bite and we were done with it.Beans- okay, super sweet, but just okay. Didn’t seem homemade.Brussels- worst texture, seemed canned, flavor was okay, but.. the mushy part we couldn’t get over.Sweet potatoes- only good part, waffle fries, so easy to like.Sauces- they were okay. Nothing super amazing.Wish we could try the cornbread that was supposed to come with our meals but it was sadly left out. So we don’t have a review for that.All in all, disappointed. I’m just shocked bc the reviews looked so good.

Clifford Robbins: Our house (built in the 1960s) came with an installed grill. Two weeks ago the gas valve broke off - eep! - and we had to replace the grill. We called two grill places. One never called us back and Original Grills answered right away, troubleshot the problem on the phone, and scheduled an appointment with us. They showed up promptly, dealt with our complicated old grill, and talked us through our options. They installed our new grill when they said they would and it works perfectly! Two weeks after our grill broke we have the new one installed and working. It was so nice to work with a contractor who was pleasant, knowledgeable, prompt, and helpful. One of my best contractor experiences as a homeowner.

This was my first experience with a mainline natural gas grill and I had no idea what I needed to do to get it to work safely. Joel explained how the grill works, how I maintain it, what parts I might need, and what parts I can do without. They were professional in every sense of the word. There were zero sales pitches, which I really appreciated. They gave me exactly what I asked for, and now I'm grilling baby. I would call them for any future repairs or if I decide to get a new grill.
