ProMedica Hospice Serving Raleigh-Durham: what do users think?
Michelle Greer: As the owner of a complementary business we share many clients with Promedica (Heartland). They have always been responsive when we refer our clients to them, and have great interdisciplinary communication with our team once our clients come on board with them. We love working with Promedica and look forward to continuing a great working relationship.
Pamela Jolly: Don’t ever work here they don’t pay you on time give you the run around very unprofessional staff have you driving all around barely pay any gas you driving to different places five days out of the week and get paid the following week after
Morgan O'Daniel: If i could give this place a 0, i most certainly would! Poor communication and lazy cnas! I am a caregiver and have been over 20yrs. I'm also a licensed medical assistant and certified nursing assistant and I am disgusted with their line of care to my client and her husband. When I called to make a complaint they had the nerve to turn it around on me, not professional nor caring.
Donna Ward: I hesitated to contact ProMedica because of the reviews; however, I’m so happy that I didn’t let those reviews deter me. My experience was absolutely wonderful. Everyone my family and I came in contact with was professional, caring, courteous, and empathized with our situation. My mom’s illness progressed quickly and we wouldn’t have made it without the entire team. The 24-hour availability was great and the response time from the nurses was extremely quick. I am so grateful to everyone who assisted my mom and my family. I HIGHLY recommend ProMedica!!
Elaine Rose: Heartland Hospice had one job: to keep my husband pain free and calm. One job. They failed miserably. From the moment the nurse left on the first day, it was one error after another. They called his pain and comfort meds into the wrong pharmacy after promising they would be delivered by their own pharmacy. Then they wanted me to leave him to go pick them up, not at my pharmacy, but one half an hour away. I called a certain nurse 4 times and not once did she return my call. Not once. When I did reach her, she was cold and gave not the slightest indication that she cared. With the exception of the social workers, Jennifer and Monica, the people there have all the empathy of a rock. I finally called the care line at corporate headquarters in Ohio and received a call from the Executive director. She got all over things and had his comfort meds and supplies delivered. He died the next day. I am at peace with his passing, but I will never forget the complete and total failure of this organization to fulfill its mission.Update 11-15-21: the reply below was automated. They don't care. They addressed their reply to my deceased husband. Just confirmation that the lack of care and empathy is also alive and well at the top.
Mike Bauser: I wish I could give this organization 0 stars. Horrible experience dealing with them while my dad was so sick. Very unprofessional, nurses don’t show up, stand outside in your carport smoking. I could go on and on. When my dad passed it took over 2 hours for a nurse to come and pronounce him dead! Unexceptionable! The only thing positive I have to say about this company are the 2 nurses aides that we had. They were wonderful, compassionate ladies. Do yourself a favor and do not use this hospice organization.
Denise Underwood: A very dear friend received hospice care from Heartland. He passed away yesterday, 3/22/21 comfortably and peacefully in his home in Clayton, NC. His grieving widow shared her appreciation with me. As a hospice RN, I wanted to thank all if you who helped with his care.
Right at Home Of Durham Chapel Hill: Heartland Hospice has always been a compassionate partner for clients we serve. We know that when we refer a family to them they are committed to delivering outstanding care and service. We recommend Heartland Hospice for families in the Triangle.
Amber Beckler: Heartland Hospice was amazing to my mother. Her nurse ,Annie,, was absolutely wonderful , patient and caring. The entire team helped us so much.
Home Instead: Very good company. We refer folks to Heartland all the time and have a lot of respect for this company. Home Instead Senior Care loves the people at Heartland. Caring and professional organization!
Eric Seals: Great company with wonderful staff.
Michael D.Blake: I had my father and mother on hospice with Heartland. EVERYONE was beyond patient with my parents and with our family. In a world of choices I am always the biggest supporter of Heartland. The company has but one goal in my opinion,, that is to help our loved ones pass with dignity and peace. I can not say enough about this company, they are definitely angels here on earth.
Amanda Miller: It took me a year to write this, but it's only fair that potential future employees know the type of environment they are walking into. It seems that every department is disorganized, especially HR and leadership. Leaders (PCCs) will literally raise their voice at you if you don't comply with their demands. You will have no back up from administration either. It's a negative and hostile environment, which includes degrading the employee. Patients and their families deserve the best, and working in a hostile environment can surely cause staff burnout and high turnover rate. If you are considering working in hospice or thinking about utilizing the service, please consider a different hospice. I highly suggest Transitions LifeCare. They are a true non-profit with community values that provide compassionate care.Edit to add: I did reach out to the Care Line to voice an ethical concern. Before that, I went through the chain of command to address the issue. I was ignored; therefore, my decision to go to the Care Line. Thirty minutes after my call to the Care Line, I got a call from the head administrator, Tina, who yelled at me for going to the Care Line. After calling the Care Line, the environment became even more hostile and I became a moving target.Additionally, the postive reviews on here are from the marketing team who do a great job at promising unattainable services that direct care staff have to address. The nurses, CNAs, social workers, and chaplains are the backbone of Heartland, but are forced to work in a hostile environment. Hence, the high burnout rate and staff turnover.I continue to recommend Transitions LifeCare for not only employment, but services for your loved one. A quick Medicare survey results comparison will show you that Transitions has far superior care than Heartland. These are public records.
Samantha Kelch: My aunt, a dedicated and fantastic registered nurse of 30 years, was let go because she asked for time off to be with her brother who was hospitalized and given days to live. This establishment has NO morals, compassion or respect for their employees or patients. I highly advise anyone considering working with this company to reconsider. I wouldn't want my loved one in the care of people who treat their employees this way. More like "Heartless Hospice", not Heartland Hospice. BEWARE.
T Allen: My grandmother has dementia and was under heartland hospice care for 11 months. She was discharged via voicemail because she had a seizure and we called the paramedics to take her to the hospital. Instead of the voice message saying I hope your grandmother is doing well, I just got we are discharging her effective today. The same day she was admitted I contacted her nurse and CNA to let them know. Thank goodness we took her to the hospital to get the care she needed. Her body temperature and pressure was extremely low and she had a bad UTI that turned into sepsis. She didn’t eat or drink anything for almost 3 days and needed fluids through an IV. She was basically in a semi coma state. The following day the medical equipment supplier left a message stating he needed to pick up her bed and wheelchair. I called him back and informed him I was in the hospital with my grandmother and he apologized because he wasn’t told by heartland that my grandmother was in the hospital. They didn’t call me to see if she died or was feeling better or if she had other arrangements to get a bed. I had to utilize my resources at the hospital for her to get a bed and I purchased a shower bench and wheelchair as well. It’s been two weeks and still no follow up call from heartland . This is an example of a program caring about money more than lives. In the beginning they changed her nurse every week due to high turnover and then I complained about it so we had the same nurse for the last several months. They tried to keep changing my CNA but I didn’t allow them to do that either. It was very insensitive the way they discharged us . After almost a year of being in the program you would think we would get a call, text, get well card or something. Why would I not help my grandmother get the care she needs? If I didn’t do anything about it she would be dead by now. She’s alive and doing quite well. She’s in a new program getting physical therapy And the nursing care she needs. won’t be recommending anyone to Hearyland Hospice ever! I’m so disappointed
lisa hampton: So far we are frustrated. We were told a nurse would be here at 8 AM but she has not arrived. Called offices, nurse called us back isn't coming until 2-3 pm. There was some mix up with medications so Dad has no pain medicine, only ativan...since Friday. We expected better service.
Jeffery Congdon: I'm not sure of the Hospice care that my brother had in the last months of his life. I could only hope it was good because he was in a assisted Living facility. In the final week of his life when we needed a "Hospice" service facility, Heartland could not come through for my Brother and Family. I was fumbling around at the hospital on the final two days of my brothers life with paper work to remove Hartland and get my Brother into a Hospice facility that could provide the service that we most desperately needed. With the help from the Staff at Wake Med of Cary we did find a Hospice service (Transitions Life Care). My Brother passed away with in 8 hours after arriving.Believe me, find out that the final days of your loved ones will be a smooth transition. The amount of stress is tremendous at this point if you are involved with a company that doesn't have their own facility.
Sharyn Fuller: The attention and care that Heartland provided my family during the sad and stressful end of my dear sweet mother's life went beyond our expectations. Everyone was just so amazing, caring, helpful and empathetic. I especially want to thank Rebecca and Ashley, who felt like family right away - we will be forever grateful to you. xoxo
Maria: I’d like to send a heartfelt thanks to everyone at Heartland Hospice for the care that they provided to our family during such a devastating time for us. The nurse assistants, nurses, chaplains, and staff were amazing. What an amazing staff of caregivers and their presence at our home during this time was vital and comforting. I will be referring Heartland Hospice to family and friends who are in need of excellent hospice care.Thank you!
Debbie Boyce: As the anniversary of my mother's passing approaches, I am reminded of the hospice care she received. I was less than pleased and now feel the need to leave a review. As I recall, the nurse visited very few times in the short time my mom was in hospice. I don't think I even met a nurse. My mother lived with me. I wasn't always home though. Getting her medications was frustrating. I recall a couple times making repeated calls because the meds were not at the pharmacy. But what really got me, was when she passed away, I called to tell them. The response was less than warm and lacked sympathy. I never heard from her nurse. I never got a card, or call from the agency. I did hear from the wonderful aid who called to express sympathy and share stories she heard from my mom. About two weeks later I got a call from the chaplain or social worker? I don't remember. But he was calling to see how my mom was doing!! I informed him she was dead. The agency didn't bother to come get all of the medications, including narcotics. They left all the oxygen equipment for me to deal with. No follow ups. No nothing for the grieving family. 5 years later, nothing. I guess they got their money and that was all they cared about.Maybe things have changed by now. I sure hope so. I wouldn't want someone else to have the same experience I had. Rest In Peace mom.
Aleah Levinson: We didn't know what to expect from our Dad's cancer. Our care team always answered all of our questions, even if there was a ton. They always told us the truth, so we could prepare ourselves for what was coming. They were there for us in a time we couldn't stand alone. We were weak, but they gave us that extra strength. We were able to make sure Daddy was taken care of the right way. Our aide, Anthony Brown was amazing. He brought so much positivity into a tough situation and he is a true asset to Heartland.Thank you, all of you. From the bottom of my heart.

Amedisys Hospice Care: what do users think?
Marlena Simpkins: Wonderful nurses but the management overall is rude and not helpful. My friend had to go without medication because it took so long for them to just approve it at the pharmacy. Would not recommend.
Lauren Williams: Have enjoyed working here over the past 7 years! Love my job. Compassionate care is a value here!
Owl Insight: Would give zero stars if possibleCommunication with hospice team members was awful and non existent. They have nurses who try to act as therapists but do more damage/harm than good because they are not trained. Access to supplies was limited and family had to purchase independently (not because of delays from covid; delays were due to nurse’s lack of communication with providers). The nurse also provided zero training to family members on how to provide care (wound care, changing undergarments, all around care) and did not inform that there was access available to alternate, more regular care.During this time of a person’s life, hospice care should be more meaningful, compassionate, and knowledgable.
caleb shockey: Hospice is such a gift! Great company and the staff are a blessing!
Betsy Johnson: Pathetic excuse for help . You give schedule times you will arrive. No one shows up or calls.
Deborah Blystone: The Ladies that work there treat the person and family as if it were their family. It was the first time dealing with hospice and I really don't know what I would have don't without Ms. Aless.Thank y'all so much
