Renaissance Montessori: what do users think?
Zoe Webre: We were so disheartened when Heartwood closed for good and weren’t sure we’d find another place that felt like home. We couldn’t have been happier or more impressed by this group. Our daughter had a lot of trouble at another Montessori and we switched early in the school year. We went from fighting to get her to school, to her asking “why isn’t school on the weekends too?” in a matter of weeks. Mayra is a wonderful director, and has assembled a wonderful team. And Ms Bernadett and Ms Sonia… will have special places in our hearts forever.
Sarah Asby: My child has thrived at Renaissance Montessori! We switched from a traditional daycare setting to Renaissance when my son was 3. The format was completely different, and I was impressed at the independent play and learning happening in the classrooms. The "works" built up his fine motor and critical thinking skills. The fenced in backyard play area is fantastic with lots of nature to explore. But most of all, I love the staff.Miss Shyamini has been his teacher in the Children's House since he began at 3, and he is now 5 years old and in their Kindergarten program. She has seen him through the difficult stages of being a spirited 3 year old, to a 5 year old with tons of empathy and improved self control. What he has learned, virtually independently, has been a joy to see. He is comfortable with all of the staff and I pick him up every day with a smile on his face.During the Covid-19 closures, Renaissance made great efforts to provide work and virtual time for our son while we were on lockdown. When they opened back up in June for summer camp, I was thrilled with the precautions they were taking. As an immune-compromised individual, it was a very difficult decision to open our bubble up to schooling. But for the mental health of all of us, the benefits outweighed the risk, and the choice was made easier by the procedures Renaissance Montessori has put in place to keep the kids and staff safe.I love their flexibility with schedule (you can select a combination of days and times up to full week and full time with after care) and they've been able to cover unexpected overtime for us when an unexpected event has kept us from picking our son up on time.I highly recommend Renaissance Montessori.
Adam S: I absolutely LOVE this school. What a magical place for kids to learn and grow. We did NOT want to take our kids to a humongous childcare facility, and we are so lucky to have found this little gem. My children are getting deep cross-cultural exposure and diverse Montessori instruction. The staff is amazing and communication is top notch. This school is a must see.
Devarajan Varadarajan: This Montessori is a great early childhood education in this area. People are great, responsive and friendly. My kid was in a preschool which was similar to day care education. This was her first Montessori education and we have seen her improvement in social skills like waiting for her turn, learning to do things on her own. Power of Montessori for a decent price. I have already referred to one of my friend and would definitely refer more friends as well. Keep up the good work!
Jennifer Simoni: This is a great Montessori school! My older kids are envious of their younger sibling because they wish they went to this school. The teachers are kind and wonderful. There is great structure for the children to learn in. The director is easy to communicate and deal with.
Patricia Turner: We love Renaissance so very much! My son started here in Mrs. Rah's class when he turned 3, and in the last year since he started he has really improved on his social skills as well as learning a lot academically. The teachers and staff here are phenomenal! The school itself is clean and beautiful. Montessori is the way to go with education, and we feel really lucky to have our son attend here!
Bronce McClain: We've had a very positive experience w/ Renaissance. Our son immediately became more independent and confident after we started.
Annah Lee: Wonderful community of teachers, parents and kids. My son has thrived at Renaissance for the last several years and I am so grateful for the experience. The administration is top notch and the location of the school is great!
Rachel Kincaid: I love how a native Spanish speaker is in every classroom with the intent of delivering the language during real activities. Both of my children are thriving here!
Jian Gao: My daughter has been with Ms. Charlotte's classroom for about a year. She loves all her teachers and friends. She is getting good art and music educations as she is taking home something new everyday. Renaissance has a family feeling, small and warm, and everyone is very nice to talk to.
Paul Stanley: Renaissance Montessori is excellent -- small, friendly, and reasonably priced. My two year-old daughter began attending in 2017, and my son attended from ages 4-5 during 2013-2014. There was of course some staff turnover during our hiatus between children, but the atmosphere has stayed the same, some familiar faces are still around, and the new folks are great too. We're very happy with both the teachers and the administrative staff. All of the classrooms, even the toddler rooms, follow Montessori guidelines for play and learning, and help teach life skills and independence.Highly recommended.
Evan Wimpey: Our 2 year old son enrolled here and has absolutely loved it! This is his first care outside the home, and he was a little bit slow to open up. Ms Minu and Ms Raisa have been phenomenal, getting him to engage in the the 'work' and he has shown so much development. Every day when I pick him up, he is so excited to talk about his day and all the things he is learning. The staff has been so great about communicating everything that happens, and any concerns they have. Our son loves the school, and we are confident it is a great place for him!
Laura Call: We love the Nido room for our one-year-old! Miss Tricia and Miss Susan provide a calm, warm, and caring environment in which our child has thrived. Our child really enjoys the music and arts added to his traditional Montessori education. He gets lots of time outdoors with other children his age and personal attention indoors with his teachers reading to him and helping him learn to do the puzzles and play games. The environment is relaxing and leaves children a lot of room for imagination--no loud toys or cluttered spaces. We've really enjoyed the classroom's flexibility with our schedule and sincere care for our child's best interest. He is always happy to go to school and we feel confident leaving him with his wonderful teachers!
monti lawrence: My family relocated to NC toward the end of the school year and found an opening at Renaissance for my 5 year old son. Within two weeks of his being there, we were told that my son was behind and needed to remain at the school for another year (he had already had 2.5 years of preschool). We had always received positive feedback from his former preschool teacher, so this was a shock. My son has always loved school, but quickly began crying and not wanting to attend Renaissance, leading us to wonder how they were making him feel in terms of his abilities. Note that all communication was from the school's office manager, not his teacher. When we firmly said we were only finishing out the year, I was told they assumed we'd be there for the following school year and that they'd have to consider whether we could continue at the school. After careful discussion, we decided to pull our son out of the school after 3.5 weeks of attendance. The office manager quickly backpedaled, saying she had never told me my son was behind and that they were "only concerned about so many changes for him" This from the same person who said he may not be able to continue if we didn't stay an extra year.We were still billed for the "new child fee" and the "snack fee" even though my son attended for less than three weeks. They did reduce the amount owed, but it was not at all pro-rated for just the month my son was there. This school cares more about your money than your child. Beware.
Tonja Cutler: My son became part of the Renaissance family to help acclimate him the year before he started public Kindergarten. I can't say enough good things about what a most awesome decision this was on our part. I felt extremely comfortable with his social development and academically - he still blows the other kids out of the water. He went into Kindergarten reading well, not just being able to count past 100, but he was already doing math problems. He is now half way through his first grade year in public school and he goes back to Renaissance during track out. It is a wonderful community of staff and parents. The facility is an encouraging and enriching environment. Overall, being a part of the Renaissance Montessori Family is one of the best decisions we made for our son.
Adrienne Rombach: My son was 3 when he started at Renaissance Montessori... he was shy and cuddly and had never been to a 'big kid school' before. We had him with a nanny up until this point. During his last year at the school he has opened up and now loves to talk with people. In fact is pretty much talks, hums, sings, or makes some kind of noise all the time. He loves to tell me about all of his work from the day and re-iterates stories about what happened in the classroom. I have seen his physical abilities and fine motor skills expand and grow strong. He sings me songs about all different topics and tells me stories about math and reading. I am watching him grow strong and confident in his abilities every week. The teachers are all extremely attuned to the children and listen and respond when there is a question or a need. Each child can work at their own pace and find things that interest them in every activity. I would highly recommend Renaissance to anyone who has a child that is just learning about the world around them. The staff, teachers, and community will help them grown and understand with out fear of the unknown or make them struggle to understand.
Ada Lopez: This is my son’s second year at Renaissance Montessori and we are very pleased with education and care he receives. This school is committed to building a sense of community for students, families, and staff. The staff is warm, friendly, and inviting. Parental involvement is strongly encouraged and families are always welcomed. Renaissance has a strong curriculum which includes: pre-reading and writing, math, science, Spanish, music, geography, life skills, and social interaction. Courtesy is taught and continuously reinforced. Students learn core subjects through hand-on activities. They are introduced to concepts in various ways to ensure learning. Teachers are great about communicating what is happening in the classroom and hold regular conferences to discuss your child’s progress. Our experience at Renaissance has been excellent!
Lauri Robbins: My son has been attending Renaissance for almost 2 years now. It is fantastic place for a little person. He immediately responded to the warm and nurturing learning environment. The staff is always available to talk and encourages parental involvement. The school is very focused on building a strong community and eagerly seeks out parental feedback. They encourage children to challenge their comfort zones, in a respectful and compassionate manner. My son continues to blossom as he grows - I feel blessed to have found such a wonderful school that continues to respond the the new and different challenges each year brings!Renaissance is not a day care - it is the first step in a lifelong journey of civic responsibility and love of learning!
