Kildaire Shoe Repair: what do users think?
Sam Chittick: Not super sure where the negative reviews are coming from. Have been bringing my cowboy boots in here for repair for the past couple of years and they always do an excellent job. Prices and turnaround times are fair, and I haven't been disappointed by them yet.
Jessica Key: This guy is great. I’ve been going to him for shoe repairs for over 15 years, since he had a shop in Macgregor Village. English isn’t his first language but the work is always solid and the pricing fair.
Audrey Moeller Amsden: Went to have my brand new purse handle double-stitched as one of the straps was coming loose. Woman at register showed me that they do purse repair. The purse she showed me had yellow stitching on a tan leather purse. I asked that I please have brown stitching, and was told that was what he would do. I assumed it would be a few minutes to run it through the sewing machine, after 15, he emerged with the purse. It was stitched by hand, IN YELLOW, and was sloppy and didn't even catch the part that was coming loose. Seems to me I went here over a decade ago and it was awful then, too. AVOID!
J D: Took a pair of sandals in to have the insoles replaced. They used cream colored insoles on dark sandals (the originals were dark to match the color of the sandals). They scraped the edges of the shoe when they were removing the old insoles, so now the edges of the sole are gnarled. The new insoles weren't cut correctly and hung over the edge of the footbed nor were they adhered correctly and they peeled off with the first wearing. Worse still, it cost $30. The shoes are in worse condition AFTER the repair than before. Will not return.
Grace Anderson: This guy repairs shoes like nobody’s business! He’s affordable and really fast. He’s my shoe guy for life.
Khan O.: Critical:Professionalism,Quality,Value
T L Muhammad: Master shoemaker / repair. Went to get a purse handle repaired. Very knowledgeable and friendly.
Lois Emmons: I came in for the first time. I brought in my cowgirl boots which needed new taps on the heels. I also brought in a new belt that needed another hole punched. He did the belt right away and then he removed the old, worn taps and put on new ones. Cost me $8.00 plus tax. Excellent and so wonderful to have it done while I waited. I did not have to wait long. Super place. I highly recommend it.
Lori Almond: Will rate later on work done, but owner very nice and friendly. Shop was busy so assuming work will be great
Teesa Wehrman: I should have listened to the reviews. But I gave it a shot and wish I didn’t. Widened a pair of women’s shoes with a man’s widener and they are far too wide for my foot now. When I dropped them off I told him I only wanted them slightly widened. My foot slides around and my heel slips out now. Very disappointed and won’t be returning.
Karen Chiswell: STAY AWAY - BEWARE. I dropped a pair of good quality leather boots off to be re-heeled, but when I returned 1 week later they weren't ready. The owner went off "looking for them" and came back 3 minutes later with my boots. He had done the job in that short time and made a complete mess of it. The boots originally had a wood-effect heel stack but now the heels were covered in a black sticky coating - when I complained I was told to wait until it dried! When I said that the boots had been altered he proceeded to use an acetate solution to wipe off the black coating revealing the original wood-effect which was now a horrid dull color, and additional drips of glue. Naturally I wasn't happy so he took the boots out the back again to "make them shiny" and get the glue off. When he brought them back some of the wood-effect had been rubbed off where the glue had been and the rest of the glue was still evident. When I pointed this out to him I was told that the boots were scuffed from wear. This is not true - the boots were only 4 weeks old!! At this point I wasn't going to let him touch my boots again, and he kept telling me that he hadn't damaged them, but I know he did. My boot heels are ruined. It seems that my experience and the "it was like that when your brought them in routine" is not new. Wish I had read the reviews before. I gave 1 star because I can't give 0 star and I want to post this as a warning.
Tyler Robertson: AVOID AVOID AVOID!Took my John Varvatos shoes that I paid $650 for a simple shoe shine. Picked up the shoes 3 days and there was black polish/shine on the white edges of the shoe. Owner refused to clean the shoe and to make it right or refund!Words used to describe this business:CONFORNTATIONALABRASIVEUNFRIENDLYINSENSITIVEAVOID AVOID AVOID!!
Pearls of Grace: I am very happy with my shoes that have been repaired there, recently and during the past several years.
Yixing Qiu: I would have given it a negative score if I had the choice. My girlfriend and I sent a brand new pair of shoes to them because she found it did not fit her feet well. The owner said he could fix it by adding sole to the bottom of the shoes. It seems he was pretty confident with his skills.Things got changed totally when we came back 4 days later. The owner said he had not done anything to our shoes yet, because he did not have confidence to fix them. We were disappointed since my girlfriend was going to use those shoes the next day. However, he claimed that he had made a phone call to me for confirmation of not doing anything to the shoes, which I actually never received. As there was not enough time to bring the shoes to another shop, we asked him if he could try to fix it for us since he originally told us it was just an easy task. Then he decide to do it.After another 30 minutes waiting, we found the shoes were ruined by him. The sole attached to the bottom was not properly cut, which could easily be noticed when they were on feet. Glue, scratch and stain were everywhere on the surface and inside the shoes. The owner refused to admit that it was done by him and said we were too picky. He said the shoes were like that when we dropped them off. But his dirty hands would not lie.The condition of the shoes became even worse after we brought them back home because the glue turns dry and white. We called the owner and went to the shop again to ask for refund. But the owner still insisted that he did not do anything wrong, and refused to refund.Worst experience ever.
Becky Kowalczyk: When I arrived, it took several minutes for them to find my shoes in the back somewhere. And I was disappointed in the repair. It looked sloppy, with glue showing in front. I wondered if they’d forgotten to fix them and just did it real quick while I waited. And now that I’ve worn them twice, it’s already coming undone.
John Davis: Shine my shoes while I wait for $8. A can of shoe polish costs $6. Seems fair. No complaints.
Alice Remedios: I've been taking my shoes (and handbags) here for repair for many years. I've never been disappointed! The owners are wonderful people.
Amanda Greeley: I took my husband's work boots there to be re soled and it cost me $80+. Less than 8 weeks later the soles are falling off of the boot. I assumed that they would last much longer than that! I am taking them back and I will demand a refund because if you don't do the work you are supposed to do why should you be compensated for it. I will NEVER go to them again and I hope they start to treat their customers better and maybe take another class on shoe repair!
Stephen Dawson: I have been a loyal customer for repeated nice boot repair, but tonight was shocked to be charged a whole lot of money for simple leather inserts and they weren't even cut right to start with, in spite of me bringing a pattern to work from. Further, language is a real issue. I asked for a pair, he brought me 2 pair. I did not want to argue and paid without argument, though expressed surprise. He cut the price a bit. I am ready to try a new repair guy. Must get a new start somewhere else. Some of his previous repairs have been good. i think his prices are wildly inflated.
Eric Tg: Don't let the other cheapskates fool you. Decent shoes are required to make a good repair. I have been dealing with these honest and hard working people for over 10 years. Don't bring in your wal-mart boots and expect miracles. The shoes will be repaired and repaired well if they were good to begin with.
Matt Rooney: Nice, but fairly disappointing. They were pleasant to work with, and the soles of my boots were replaced in a timely manner. After a little less than a year, they were separating from the bottom in multiple places. I took them back, and they were repaired for free with no questions asked and with the same level of courtesy and speed. A few months more, however, and they are separating again, and I'm noticing that the heel itself is wearing much quicker than the originals ever did.

Fibrenew Chapel Hill Durham: what do users think?
Michael Minozzi: Service person was prompt, courteous and professional. He explained the problem and the appropriate solution. He made sure I was satisfied before completing the repair. Highly recommended! Would definitely use again.
Linda Taylor: Patrick restored an authentic Corbusier chaise lounge which had been damaged badly by our cats over the years, with lots of scratches and punctures. I am thrilled with the results. Patrick was responsive and friendly and is a great communicator. I highly recommend this company.
Tresa Pickup: I recently bought a used car that was pristine aside from a small gash in the passenger door. Patrick said it wouldn't be perfect, but much less noticeable. I'm a Type-A personality and wasn't sure if it would be good enough, but I have to say I'm thrilled with how it turned out. I highly recommend Fibrenew.
Bryan Littlejohn: Patrick is extremely professional and skilled! Always does a fantastic job!
Andre Evans: Even if we couldn't do business, they found away for me to understand why.
Donna Burden: My experience with fibrenew was excellent. The young man who came out did a beautiful job on my chair and I am beyond pleased. He was so professional and a joy to have worked with.
Theresa Moore: Patrick did a phenomenal job on my faded leather sofa. I didn’t realize how the California sun had bleached the back of my sofa until I moved. Patrick re-dyed and restored the “newness” to my sofa. He is very professional and thorough with his work. Most of all it’s a mobile service.
Kamal Simpson: I have worked with Patrick twice and every time it’s alway an amazing job performed! I have a throne chair business and he keeps my chairs up and in good shape. Will be using him again soon! Please contact him asap!
Dustin Burke: This has been an absolutely blessing finding Patrick fixing my bmw leather. The guy was a true gentleman and fixed my leather perfectly.. I would absolutely recommend him and his company again!
Sue Bugno: I have been looking for someone to repair the rear headrests on my 2002 Lexus for quite sometime. No one seemed to be interested. I came upon Patrick while he was doing a job at the YMCA in Burlington. He stopped what he was doing to take a look at my car and said he would take care of it! His workmanship was beautiful! His price reasonable as well. He was a pleasure to work with and I would definitely contact him again for any restoration that I need done.
Jessica Roe: Patrick did a wonderful job repairing my leather couch. He was able to fix the base of the couch so that it was no longer sagging, and the cushions were re-stuffed and new fabric was put on the back where the velcro is located. As you can see, the couch no longer droops in the center, you can't see the fabric peaking out, and it feels great sitting down on it. Patrick was very communicative, knowledgeable, and worked diligently to get this project done in a timely manner. I recommend Fibrenew to anyone who needs furniture repairs!
gary bienstock: Patrick showed up on time and did a fantastic job! We are very pleased with the final product.
Mark Ethridge: I had Patrick do a re dye of my leather automobile seats. The results were excellent. He did a great job on matching the colors. The seats look new again! I would definitely use his services again in the future. Thanks Patrick!
Steven Hymanson: Patrick did an outstanding job on the front seats of my Acura today. The color was a perfect match and he was very professional. Had them done once before by Fibrenew and they held up for 6 years so wanted to do it again. For those of us who keep our cars a long time and take good care of the body, nice to know there is a way to fix how bad leather wears.
Tanya A: I was very pleased with the results of my restoration. The technicians who worked on my repair were named Mark and Patrick. They were friendly, timely, and did a nice restoration. Great job, guys!!!
Tonnika Haynes: We have used the services on several occasions. The repairs are professional and the process is seamless.
Victor R: I contacted them yesterday to a get quote on a piece of furniture that needed fixing and Mark replied almost immediately. He was honest about the work that needed to be done and explained what needed to be done.I liked the honesty and the timeliness of response. Definitely will refer my friends to Fibrenew.
