In April 2022 I put Apex Knife Sharpening on hold to focus on family and my day job.
I realize that there are few who do this work in our area so here are the ones that I know about.
Here is a list of quality sharpeners that I can refer you to.
A sharp knife is a safer knife because it goes where you expect it to.
When I sharpen, I bring the edge to its peak performance. I expect my knives to be razor sharp. That is my standard when sharpening your knives as well.
Note: We do not sharpen or tune hair scissors or beauty shears. Hair shears require specialized equipment and skills… and I can refer you to some people who do good work on them.
I specialize in low speed, low heat methods of sharpening. My goal is to remove as little metal as possible. Your tools last because I don’t sharpen fast.
Knives and straight razors are hand sharpened and honed using Japanese water stones to apply a sharp, polished edge. The blade is then stropped to debur and leave the apex with the keenest possible edge. The result is an extremely sharp blade with an edge that is resilient and easy to maintain. Serrated knives, repairs, and other tools may require mechanical sharpening.
Scissors, chisels, and other tools are sharpened using a slowly turning 1000 grit wetstone and edges are refined on Japanese water stones and leather strops as needed.

I got to the store 5 minutes before closing time (my apologies). They helped me with smiling face and warm conversation right up to the point of checkout 😃 Charles was a heaven sent because I had no clue what I was doing. He politely answered every one of my questions. They need to all be given a bonus, raise, and a promotion 🙌🏽 👏🏽. In a world that seems to be lacking in true customer service... these three are amazing! Cooperate... please show them tons of appreciation 🙏🏽 they are real assets to the company.

Herman Tant: Store was nice neat and clean, the item I was looking for it was in stock. Checkout line did get pretty long however two additional employees jumped in to help. How I felt like I was done wrong by Harold, see as I was the last person in line. Once it was my turn, He made me go to another line that was longer ilo of just checking me out with my one item. While I was in the second long line. I watched Harold messing around doing nothing.
Travis Horton: Cheap Chinese tools. Cheap customer service. Lunch time, busy time. A dozen people in line to checkout with the one open register. Supervisor comes up, opens a new register to check out someone and tells another customer to get back in the long line. A supervisor? Save your time and gas and mail order if you want savings and selection. I left my arm full of potential purchases on a nearby counter and left. Great customer service is the only metric to use in today's homogenous commerce and economy.

Tongjun Wu: It should be 0 star. We brought a Stihl MS 291 chainsaw three weeks ago. It costed $529.99, used once and broke. Not able to start. We brought to store at cary the repair technician cleaned sparkle and it was able to start. Unfortunately when we brought to home it was not working. Brought back to store and the technician said engine is broken and warranty does not cover. If repair it will cost about $650! Ridiculous!!!! $530 junk. What a service and what a product! Be aware! We will never buy anything from the Northern Tools again!
