No contract was signed.Project was to be completed August 26-30No show on August 26 by Clay or the crews.One driveway dug August 27. The crew had excuses with late start and breaking machine. August 28&29 other driveways dug. Crews left large piles of dirt on each side of the driveway after digging. We were told the dirt would be hauled away.No work or communication on Friday August 30Tuesday 9/3 nothing. Excuse with crew in accident. We were told Wednesday the concrete would be delivered....no concrete was delivered.Hurricane Dorian Thursday and Friday 9/4&5- storm had been being forecasted for close to 10 days so this was not a surprise storm. He knew it was coming. The holes that were dug over a week earlier.Late Thursday Sept 5- email “we will keep an eye on when the holes dry to work on getting them filled”Email on 9/6- “it needs to dry and harden. Hopefully Monday”. My holes were not formed with wood so they will need to be cleaned up and fixed.Sept 8. Email (Sunday) saying the job will be done on Wednesday. Concrete will be delivered Wednesday morning, poured, and completed by end of day.Morning of 9/11. Work was to begin at 10:30. Texted him at 11:30 when nothing started. He said it would be done for today. I arrived home about 12:30. He was just sitting in his truck at the stop sign and waved. He rang my doorbell about 5pm and refunded part of the money that I had requested.Was told “this is a high end job and no one is in danger.” “I’m just going with the flow.” “This project is a thorn in my side and I want to get it done”. “Have patience and understanding”. “You’ve been trying to get this project done for a few years I’m hoping a few extra days won’t spoil it”He feels that if he sends emails (communication) that all the excuses and delays are ok and you should be “understanding”.If you hire Clay you are taking chances on how long your project will take. When he emails you the excuse that he takes that as he’s in communication and that you should be “patient and understanding” with him, even when no work is being done.
