Jason Hoerner: My review isn’t of the Dr., I was referred as a pre-op requirement and never met him.My first issue was the amount of calls, texts, MyChart messages, and emails reminding me of my appointment- it was a minimum of 2 reminders a day, 4 in one day being the most- that’s excessive.However, the actual person who called to first schedule the appointment and answer any questions was exceptional.The facility could not have been more clean, better organized, or spacious- tremendous!The room itself was on par to a 3.5 star hotel room, it was a nice surprise and relief. The room had soft steady white noise piped in- love that, huge bathroom, nice set up.This is the big 0 star issue- the bed was horrendous and the pillows were just as bad. I slept maybe 1 hour all night unable to get comfortable. I could have dealt with the multitude of wires, nose cannula, putty on my head, tape on my face, etc had the bed been more comfortable than a blanket on cardboard. I walked out with a terrible back and neck ache… and still have it a day later. If I had to do it again I’d bring my own pillows, blanket, and some kind of padded bed topper… I’d just roll a wagon in.My medical attendant was nice, professional, attentive, responsive, and kind. She made me feel safe and confident in the medical care.

Mike Cronin: I transferred to Wake Med from Duke. Best decision I've made in a long time. Dr. Santos is the best doctor I've had in a long time. He not only listen to me, he took the time to explain the workings of my CAP machine. That never happen before anywhere. Now, I don't have any guess work on my part, I understand the CAP machine. The staff was outstanding and Rhonda was the best.. All I can say is, " JOB WELL DONE, and thank you.

L Moretz: First off - I very rarely leave reviews and can't remember when I've left a bad one. But this deserves it.Worst communication of any medical "professional" I've ever been involved with - both Dr. Santos and the Wake Med Pulmonology team! My cardiologist suggested a sleep study and referred me to Dr. Santos in Cary. During my visit with him I was not impressed with his communication skills or apparent knowledge. He recommended an at home sleep study. The company that handled that part was fine. Ten days after the sleep study an administrative person called me on behalf of Dr. Santos and said I have mild sleep apnea and need a dental type device rather than a CPAP. It would've been nice to hear back from Dr. Santos because the person who called couldn't answer any medical questions.She said a dentist they use would be contacting me about an appointment to get fitted. I never heard from them! A couple of months go by so I contact Wake Med Pulmonology - and ask that Dr. Santos contact me about how to get the device. It took another MONTH for them to call me back, and when they did, it was like I had just called yesterday! They left a message for me to call them back and when I did I got a VM........I still have no idea how to get the sleep device I need.Again, the WORST COMMUNICATION of any medical "professional" organization I've ever experienced. If you can use another provider I highly recommend you go elsewhere.

e: After seeing my primary physician for a couple of years and another lung dr local to me for about 4 months, I found Dr Maani. I can't tell you the difference he has made with my asthama/lung issues. Within 24 hours of seeing him and him changing my meds, I felt like a new person. He was kind, courteous, and very knowledge. Did not rush through the appointment, listened to my issues and showed compassion. He is a wonderful Dr! I wish I had found him years ago, His assistant, Jen, was a pleasure to work with also. If you are having any lung issues, he would be a wonderful choice for your treatment.
