4worldlovers: For the third straight year, Brazil’s Lasso offers the world a new EP just as spring arrives in the northern hemisphere and fall sets in south of the equator. Mirroring the unpredictable weather this time of year, Lasso’s music floats between raw explosions of manic energy and tense brooding, invoking the cycles of anxiety and depression that grip so many of us these days. Tracks like “Respice Finem” and “Raiva Derramada Na Estrada” sound like the uncontrollable surge of adrenalin that accompanies a panic attack, and while the mid-paced riffs in “Tecido Social” and “Nó” might open up the pit, it’s only to swallow us whole. Illustrator Carlos Casotti also provides his best cover artwork for the band yet, an eerie and uncanny visualization of Lasso’s enigmatic take on hardcore punk.

Hunky Dory is serving up beer, records and dankness at two Triangle locations–our original store on Ninth Street in Durham and our new store at Seaboard Station in Raleigh. At both stores you’ll find the best in vintage vinyl LPs and a curated selection of beers on tap. Our Durham store also carries local and American made glass and vaporizers.


We take our name from the classic David Bowie album and strive to have the best used selection of vinyl records around. While many stores reserve their goodies for eBay, Hunky Dory saves its gems for its customers. Shop owner Michael Bell, a Raleigh native and vinyl geek, drives thousands of miles each year hunting vinyl. If he’s not in the shop, he’s likely in someone’s dusty shed, dank basement or dirty garage hunting LPs. We’re equally proud of our tap room, serving a hop-forward selection a beers you won’t find elsewhere. Stop by for a beer while you shop or just to enjoy during the afternoon or evening.
