Sky Pond: what do users think?
Diane Barrett: Second wonderful experience there
Erin Hanehan: Sky Pond is the PERFECT venue for all kinds of small events. The land is peaceful & calm - you feel it immediately. The cabin is comfortable & cozy AND literally has everything you need. I have used the space to teach yoga, and the yoga studio upstairs is just lovely. Trust me when I say the hosts of this beautiful property will make sure you are well taken care of! I will be returning for future events for sure!
Victoria Haffer: Sky Pond is a truly magical space to host workshops and retreats. I will be returning often. Miriam and her husband have put so much love and attention into the space and it clearly shows.
Karen Parrish: I hosted a full day yoga retreat at Sky Pond in Jan. Miriam was amazing! She had the fire and candles going when we arrived and the place was so warm and inviting. All yoga props were provided and were in perfect condition. Miriam accommodated every request and was close by in case we needed anything. She even offered to start the fire in the outdoor fire pit for us! Perfect location, beautiful and well-cared for facilities. I am already planning my next retreat!
Jarisa Johnson: First, I want to express gratitude to Miriam and her family for opening up their land to host this space. She always goes above and beyond to make sure her guests are comfortable. They’re created a a cozy space perfect for any time of the year.Second, the energy of the property is very healing and naturally creates an energetic container for those aligned for whatever events may be hosted there. I’ve attended many events in this space and I can’t think of a space I’d rather have done my healing. It’s a home inside the heart space that is going to bless so many who feel called to venture here.
Kelsey Rudzinsky: I hosted an event at Sky Pond and could not be happier with my experience. The space is welcoming, serene and maintained with much love and intention. Miriam and Sean were wonderful to work with and I look forward to returning!Highly recommend hosting or attending an event at Sky Pond.
Jill Bernabo: I had the pleasure of attending the Silent Creation retreat at Sky Pond. It was the perfect setting for a day of yoga, breathwork, reflection and relaxation. It was a great "get away" without having to travel! Sky Pond is peaceful and restorative. It is a very special space where you can do anything or nothing at all. Miriam is a wonderful host, taking care of every detail so you feel welcomed.I can't wait to go back!
Marion Waters: I've noticed looking over your page that you have past life regression and hypnotherapy I might I learn more about that without being changed over to Eventbrite
G L: We had an amazing 6 yo birthday celebration at Sky Pond! We had plenty of space for 15+ kids to run around, bounce in the bouncy house, fish, race around the pond… to be a kid! And adults just got to sit and hang by the pond, and not worry about chasing kids around or watching for cars. We just brought food and they had everything else we needed to feed our guests and to have a wonderful party. Our hosts were amazing!
Vinayan Pushpa (Vinay): We had an amazing experience at Skypond. The site is quite and beautiful! Perfect place for any kind of celebration. We had a great fun time over this weekend.Unfortunately we had a bad weather situations, I was worried that my friends will not get the best experience this place could offer; but it turns out to be an amazing experience for kids and the whole families. Group had so much fun … roasting marshmallows over the fire , friendly pets , so much game time , cleanest washroom and excellent place to take some family photos .. I can go on and on about this place ..!!Just want to thank Sean & Miriam for giving us a very memorable anniversary celebration in this wonderful place. You both are amazing hosts and thank you very much; we are coming back again !!!!
evie watts: I was fortunate to have discovered Sky Pond when invited there by a good friend to do a Reiki Share. After being there and then meeting Miriam, I decided it would be a great place to have my own workshop - something I'd never done before. It happened yesterday and it was magical. This place was like another welcome participant of the workshop, creating such a sense of safety and peace to allow everyone to be themselves. I'm already planning my next workshop for the space.Thank you Miriam and Sean for creating this refuge.
Anne Bequet: As a teacher, I very much enjoyed my experience at Skypond. The site is quite beautiful! The host welcomed us with open arms upon arrival. She guided everyone to park and had prepared the room for an easy set up. We had blankets, bolsters and blocks available right there and available for practice. That day it was cold and the house was warm and inviting. The space was pristine. We were all very comfortable and had a fabulous “retreat” time.We had an awesome experience 🙏🏻
Tricia Becker: Magical Land of Happiness! Each and every time I visit Sky Pond, I leave with a renewed sense of wonder, awe and appreciation for this beautiful area of North Carolina. Thank you Miriam for always being a phenomenal host!
Sandi McKee: I loved the atmosphere at Sky Pond! It was so comfortable and welcoming. The yoga space is perfect. Very cozy, and the environment around the cabin is the kind of thing I really love. Paths, fire pit, pond, what could be better! Miriam is a wonderful hostess and Drew and Wilson are adorable!
Alex Kichak: I had the most beautiful experience at Sky Pond. They helped me create a mini afternoon retreat with private yoga and the most beautiful lunch. The entire day was so tailored to our exact requests and its was abundantly clear that no detail had been spared. It's so evident that the team at Sky Pond is absolutely in love with what they're doing and going out of their way to make their guests feel cared for. I have already started planning my next Sky Pond "retreat" afternoon! I can't wait to go back and take more people I love along for the wonderful experience.
Rachel Beam: A dear friend and I visited Sky Pond for our joint August birthday celebration and it absolutely exceeded all expectations! We indulged in a yoga session with Miriam, a light lunch made by Sean and endless loves and snuggles from Drew and Wilson (resident service black lab and guest greeter black lab, respectively). We were welcomed by Miriam and Wilson and I instantly felt free to be myself and to get comfy during our mini getaway. Miriam is such an incredible host—her energy radiates throughout the space. It is really clear how much time and love has gone into making this place feel like home. Our yoga session with her was just what I needed. 90 minutes of slow flow and restorative. She is an excellent teacher—her creative transitions and thorough care in guiding me to stay safe and comfortable throughout the practice were so appreciated! We then enjoyed a delicious and artfully crafted meal by Sean with seasonal veggies. It was the perfect balance of refreshing flavors. We had some specific dietary restrictions that we’re carefully attended to as well. We were joined on the patio by the sweetest doggies and spent several hours chatting and taking in the beautiful sights and sounds of the pond. This is such an incredible, multi-functional space. If you are considering any sort of time in nature to recharge or celebrate wellness and healing, this is the place. I can’t recommend Sky Pond enough. Thank you again, Miriam and Sean (and Drew and Wilson)!

Avila Center: what do users think?
brian schneiderman: After buying the property from the Archdiocese in 2019, Avila launched in 2022 with new management and a new vision. (Please disregard reviews prior to.) Several organizations with a long history of community work have come together at Avila. Together, we are repurposing Avila as a community organizingand community leadership retreat center, where those who are working to promote social justice can come to be nurtured by this sacred space, the leadership development opportunities, and the contemplative silence.Note: at this time, Avila focuses on group events and is not open to individual retreats. For more information, please see the website.
Sandy V: A lovely, serene property and perfect location for a retreat.
Triangle Refuge: I attend Avila for day retreats every quarter and for overnight retreats once a year. I am always warmly greeted and cared for by the staff, while left alone if that's what I prefer. I tell all of the clergy friends I have about Avila. It is a place I have come to treasure, where I know I can find rest and quiet for my soul.
TwinCities16: My sister and I attended a number of retreats at Avila. Our experiences were wonderful. The atmosphere was very welcoming.
