Wake County Public School System: what do users think?
Ms. Green: If there was a way to give a negative that would be my real rating!!! The worse school district ever. I have a child in this district that has had more problems being in school due to administration being “pick me” they clearly need new administrators. Ex: a child witnesses a physical altercation (keep in mind there are tons of other students around this altercation) they (administration) want to know what’s going on, instead of going to the source which would be said students in the altercation they want to pick and choose to add students who were not involved to the situation. Because said child doesn’t want to say anything (as in not wanting be involved) you (administration) decide “oh ok since you won’t talk we will suspend you for 3-5 days”, that’s mainly because you didn’t get the response you were looking for!
Brittany Jones: Don’t bring your kids to this school district two kids have brought two gun to my son school they handled it but they told us by email days later at about 6 at night they do not communicate good with you and made him miss his graduation by lying and did nothing about it and my daughter that only in 1st grade is being bullied by 3 and 4 graders and the school has yet did anything and it’s on the bus too so you can’t feel like you kids is safe in there schools either and her bus got in to a little accident they kids where all fine but they didn’t tell us until days later on a sun don’t bring your kids to there public schools
Christine Mann: I have 3 kids in high school. Two attend one high school and one attending another. I put in for a transfer so my son can attend the same school that his brothers are in and they denied the transfer. Something definitely needs to be done about this
Hildie Dietrich: Will not return calls, send documentation, will not respond to emails. Not including parents in important meetings, saying only 1 parent, requested documents they refuse to send. No I have sent them all the required documentation they still refuse.
Hawksley Gaming Project: Building 3 2nd floor administration is rude and condescending. Arrange any central office inquiries and directions prior. 1:30 on Friday is a terrible look for a supposed excellent system.
Michelle Gonzalez: There is always some rule that’s hidden from the public and despite asking rules to be shared, for transparency and full understanding, I still have yet to see these “rules” that only benefit them from making subjective decisions to discriminate against people, all while hiding behind these asinine “rules”.Beware!!I will say there are about a handful of teachers that are great but that gets easily over shadowed by the administration every single time. Those that make the rules don’t care about the children and their families, they only care about numbers that make them look “good”.I’ve had numerous situations over the years with different schools and students and it has never gotten better, only worse.
Marcin Szkudlarek: You were called to serve people of Wake county. You were called to educate our kids. The purpose of the public school system is to educate kids, not to maintain a special class of people who are running and benefitting from it. Under your rule schools look like prisons. You actively worked to not have my kids present at school even though I support and pay into the system.
kristina graham: As a mother (of 4 school aged children) who is new to the area, I truly wanted to love the school district. I have a middle school aged child enrolled in a local (traditional calendar) Christian school, so I asked about having my other children attend the traditional calendar elementary school I'm zoned for. When I called that school, they said they had plenty of room in the grades I needed. When I spoke with the elementary student services, she told me that if I have a child on a traditional calendar, a transfer to the other children to be on a traditional calendar will be approved so a family can be "in sync". After going through the application process, I was shocked to be denied. When I called to ask about it, they had no real reason to give other than the fact that they said calendar alignment is a privilege for public school children only...not if one of your children is in a Christian school. With room clearly available, I simply don't understand and feel very persecuted as a Christian. In speaking further with the administrators, they admitted that the main purpose of the year round schooling is to be able to accommodate 60% more children. The district sadly seems to have issues "at the top" in efficiently allocating, investing, & spending funds. What we need are more schools, not more shuffling of children around to put a band-aid on the problem. I'm sure there are many fine teachers & happy families...but my experience is very lackluster, discriminatory, not prioritizing children above administration, overcrowded, & just an overall mess. If you are new to the area, I would highly recommend saving yourself some time and look into private schooling. That’s what we ended up doing and are so grateful we did.
Trendy Bulb: I hate this place i did not do the likes
Sean Warsaw: Terrible customer service. No one answers the phone when you call -- although they have several numbers listed. The one time someone did answer my call, they had an attitude for no reason as soon as they picked up the phone.
Heather Scott: Thankful for the hard work from teachers and principals, thankful for the school my children attend and love!
Koti Reddy: Board has zero concern for student assignment requests. I have a high school student who changed two schools in two years and board decided to change her again based on our address even when I have given written confirmation that we do not need transportation. Really unhappy the way board is treating parents requests
Millicent gomez: Beware!!
Luis Rodriguez: Excelente atenciones a los visitante
Mal S: Great district!
Viv G: The most unhelpful group of folks I've ever encountered. And that's district-wide, from teachers and support staff to principals and beyond. Want to talk to centralized administration? Good luck because it's all automated, have to leave a message but you will never get a return call. The worst school district (of 4) I've ever dealt with. If you're considering this area, beware, or send your kids to private or charter school if you can find a good one.
Jolly Rancher: My elementary school was Brassfield Road Elementary School. It was okay, but not great.I am in seventh grade at Durant Road Middle School. I love it!I am going to Millbrook High School for high school. I've heard it's excellent.
harry miller: Terrible. All automated prompts. Can't speak to a person
Erick: Meh
Jake Rojas: My education has been bad i hate it

The Grove School of Cary: what do users think?
Shannon Keller: My kiddos have a home away from home and I get to work guilt-free! Other schools I toured I felt like I wanted to quit my job before dropping the kids off there....but this place feels like home and my kids are in one large Grove school family. The teachers are personable and professional and the director is timely in responses and always had the kids best interests at heart. We get photos and updates on their learning constantly which makes me feel involved and connected with my kids even when I am apart from them during the school day. I’m so happy to a found this place! The kids are always doing art and doing puzzles and playing outside and even help garden and pick vegetables. It’s one of the best schools in the area. The teachers love working here and feel satisfied as well... and it shows! 5+ stars!!!
Nicole Cote: Our daughter attended The Grove School and flourished under her teachers' care. Her teachers became part of our family and we felt that they loved her as their own. She grew socially and academically, using the social skills learned in her classroom at home. Our only regret is that we didn't get her started at The Grove School sooner.
Melissa Caperton: All three of my children attended The Grove School of Cary - we loved every classroom from the infant room all the way through Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms. The teachers are top-notch and provided a nurturing, welcoming environment where our kids were able to flourish. From the gardens, to the fun playgrounds, and engaging classrooms (including a full-time Spanish teacher who works with all students!), we can't recommend The Grove School enough. Now that all three of my kids have graduated, I miss seeing the friendly faces of the teachers and staff every day. And my kids miss being there (even my now 4th grader!). If you're looking for a clean, engaging, and nurturing school for your child, Grove School will meet all of those needs and more.
Amy Southerland: The Grove School has been a lifesaver for our family! Our son had a bad experience at another local school. He started at The Grove mid-year in the kindergarten program and we saw an immediate change in him. He started to love school again. He talked about his teacher, Ms Joy, non-stop. The staff is AMAZING. They are kind and creative and truly dedicated to their young students. We feel so lucky to have found this special school. We can't say enough great things about it.
Kevin Gierl: After 8 years over two kids, tomorrow will be our last day at The Grove School. We have been extremely satisfied with our experience there as they have stable, consistent management combined with caring and flexible teachers. Their facility has received continuous maintenance, which is different than our previous daycare and they took aggressive measures to reopen after COVID. TGS is a highly recommended daycare.
Tracy Brown: My child has been attending The Grove School since she was 3 months old and has been treated like family since her first day. Seeing the growth she has experienced there has been amazing to witness. I have also been impressed with the collaboration and open communication with her teachers. My husband & I always know what our daughter is learning about so we can pick up at home. As new parents The Grove School has also been great about guiding us in what to do/bring as our child moved from one class to the next. The head of school and administrations are always very responsive and helpful. Also, since reopening after COVID-19 we have also not worried once about our daughter's safety with the extensive precautions taken. Overall, we are extremely happy members of The Grove family and I always look forward to seeing my child's smile at being there when we arrive each morning.
Jen Shepard: I cant say enough amazing things about The Grove School. We love it so much we have even referred 2 friends/family to also join and they couldn't be happier. The Grove School goes above and beyond to treat myself, and my child as if we are their own family. They are invested in teaching our children a healthy lifestyle- like gardening, and eating healthy. They have implemented safe procedures with COVID to make our family feel comfortable returning back. Their staff is INCREDIBLE from the teachers, to the Operations Manager, and the Head of School. Their genuine love for our child us unparalleled. They have an excellent classroom curriculum- our child is learning SO much every day. When originally looking for a daycare we visited several different ones and this one set themselves apart in so many ways. When we first joined, they made the transition back from maternity seamless and made me feel overly comfortable. We will continue to recommend The Grove School to anyone looking for a safe environment for their child with a caring and loving staff.
Briarly Reed: My daughter loved The Grove, and of the 3 preschools we attended, we were all most impressed with this school! The director is very accessible and helpful in answering all questions. The lessons are pkanned in advance, and communicated clearly to oarents for follow through at home. My girl was genuinely excited about what she learned and produced there. The teacher my daughter had, Ms. Kenisha, was a jewel! Intelligent, patient, and we saw our child's creativity blossom in the time she attended. And the thoughtful safety measures they put in place during COVID were effective and allowed my girl to have socialization she craved during this critical time in her development. Thank you, Grove! Your child and family will have a great experience here!!
Jessica Thorn: Our family has been a part of the Grove School since our son was 15 months old. We have had a wonderful experience with the director, staff and teachers. Everyone who works at the Grove School is personable and knows your child by name. The director and front office staff are helpful and take the time to answer any questions that you may have. The teachers are amazing and you always know how your child’s day was because they take the time to let you know. We have absolutely loved our time at the Grove School.
Cynthia: We have been at the Grove since our child was 9 months old. When looking for a daycare for our baby after moving from out of state we knew they were "the one" as soon as we stepped in the door (we had visited several daycares and had actually chosen another one and even made a deposit when we drove by the grove and decided to give them a call just in case - so glad we did! We canceled our enrollment at the other school right after our tour of the Grove and meeting the staff and teachers). Our positive experiences have continued as our child has grown and moved into different classrooms (very warm and colorful classrooms). The teachers and staff here are amazing, kind loving people and we have felt very safe bringing our child back to school when they opened back up (due to COVID). The biggest thing for us is the care they have for the children and how they get to know your child and your family. As our child grows and moves soon into pre-k class, we are sad to leave our current teacher, but excited for the transition into Pre-k and those teachers. They all know our family as it is a smaller center which we love. The learning has been fantastic as well and we feel our child will be more than ready for kindergarten when the time comes although we will miss the grove school very much! We are very grateful for the grove and would recommend them without hesitation.
Susan Abraham: My son has been attending Grove school since 2018. We have had a wonderful experience with this school. They have a great team of teachers, who are genuinely dedicated to the well being of every child. The administration does an excellent job of communicating with parents. My son likes all his teachers. He enjoys the fun summer activities every year. We are so glad we chose The Grove school over some of the other schools we looked at.
Colin Miller: Kid went here. Director is super nice, effective
Maria Molchan: The Grove School is in a class of its own. The team is wonderful, professional, personable, and caring. You cannot deny the amazing feeling you get when you walk in. They are led by a top-notch leadership team, led by Ms. Lorrie, who is a star in her own right. The teachers are nurturing and the best out there.
Nosika Fisher: What a wonderful school! We've been so lucky to have had both of our children at the Grove. We've had our kids here for three years, and we couldn't be happier. The teachers are amazing, kind, patient, caring, loving and well qualified. They are receptive to the children's needs, and adjust accordingly. Truly great educators! My kids have loved all of their teachers. The school's management is just as wonderful. Ms. Lorrie constantly goes above and beyond. She's a great communicator, always on top of things. She's easy to talk to and willing to work with the parents. We've made great memories at the Grove.
Evan Halley: Grove School is a fantastic place to enroll your children. Teachers are great and provide a lot of feedback on the progress of your child. The staff is very friendly and very communicative.
John Wass: Obviously I'm biased because my daughter has attended since she was 4 months old, but I've been very impressed with what Grove is doing compared to other alternatives in the area.
Tinaya Gray: My son attended school in the Apple Grove (Pre-K). I was worried as he was my second son and this was his first time in an environment outside of an in home daycare. I also felt I might not have prepared him as well as I did his older sibling for kindergarten. Well after the 1st week all of my fears were put to rest. Ms. Sue and the school nurtured him and truly made him feel at home. He LOVED going to school everyday and never wanted to leave. I saw him improve by leaps and bounds with phonics, numbers, and writing as well. My only regret is that I waited so long to put him here.

Cardinal Charter Academy: what do users think?
RW Precht: I think Principal Goff has done some great work since taking over last year. She seems to be building a solid foundation that had been lacking with the transitions of multiple principals in prior years. She has communicated well, defined expectations and addressed staffing issues. As a parent new to the area who was concerned about starting school, especially during a global pandemic, I have had a great experience here overall. There are always the typical frustrations associated with any school-and if my biggest issue is carpool logistics (which could probably use an improvement) then I can handle it.I hope that things continue the way they have in the past year and a half because I think the changes implemented under Principal Goff will help the school and the children. The school has listened to and addressed any concerns I've had. I think poor/mixed reviews from prior years probably don't reflect how the school is now and how the culture is shifting in a good way.
Mathew Sulentic: My daughter loves it here and we like the focus on curriculum and the uniforms. Kids these days know more about shoe brands than math.
Monica Martinez: School gets out at three but don’t expect to pick up your kids until 4 (even if you are in the carpool line at 2) because they have no idea how to run a carpool this year.
Abby Precht: My daughter just finished kindergarten. She had the best teacher and learns way more than I thought she would at the end of the year. The school has had some bumps, but I feel like the communication has been open and transparent. Great experience overall!
Guitar Hero: Ever since Dr. Draper, the previous principle, left this school has taken a bad turn all due to lack of organization and involvement. The bullying has even increased to a degree where my son now wants to go back to his normal assigned school.
Ben Dover: This school is easily one of the worst schools i have attended the teachers arent qualified and dont even care about whats happening Thx God i left to go to reedy creek easily a better school i dont reccommend sending student here
David Lilyquist: My Son Goes Here and is Doing Okay
Dinaya Smith: I didn’t I like some of the things, well 1st off some of the teachers pushed a student, And the teacher didn’t get a warning. I was very mad about that, The teachers don’t give the students 2nd chances, So far the Checkin is really bad that the food would be still cold. Please bring your own LUCH. But other than that I have no problem with this school.
Lavenice Carter: My son has been attending Cardinal since Kindergarten, and is now in 3rd grade. The school transitioned seamlessly throughout the pandemic from in person to remote, and then to a hybrid of both. They allowed for the parents to dictate this transition according to what we were comfortable with. When other Wake county school kids were running around my neighborhood not sure when they would go back to.school, this schools students were meeting in person with the parents that wanted the option, and did so without one covid incident throughout that time period, due to the excellent precautions they put in place.
Stephanie Lee: lots of teachers without teaching certifications, high teacher turn over rate, and every thing is so chaotic to the point that no on knows what is going on. Also, why does this place have a new principal every few years? What happened to the one that was at this school for the past four weeks? This isn’t a place for kids to learn… they first need a principal before any learning happens.
Blacknopink35 robinhood: Was clean very well maintained
T W: The school has limited offerings for advanced learners. Therefore advanced students become stagnant in their learning.Next, the science classes have no real equipment and materials for the students to truly explore and experiment with scientific concepts. The school has a very small, make-shift library. It seems that literacy would be a major component to most any curriculum and learning environment for children. It's disappointing that this is lacking at a school. The middle school student do not have something as basic as lockers. Because of this, incidents of theft have occurred, as well as students tampering with other's belongings, planting contraband in their peers' unattended to book bags that are left in homeroom as they travel from class to class without their book bags.Technology is lacking at this school. This is surprising since the school is located in the Research Triangle, a world renowned mecca for IT/STEM research. It seems that technology and STEM/STEAM materials and curriculum would be a priority, but it is not.Elementary teachers are not provided with uniform curriculum building guidance, nor the proper tools to instruct in the best manner possible. Teachers mainly "wing it" and do their best in creating content and curriculum that is basic and easy to come up with. This is awful. Many parents have complained regarding the subpar content that their children have been exposed to. Certainly not challenging or impressive, and that's a sad shame. The staff is not diverse racially/ethnically, which is also disappointing. The middle school side is a free-for-all with many instructors being young/inexperienced, uncertified, and more concerned with checking their cell phones than being attentive to their students. It is apparent on the faces of some middle school teachers and through their body language that they are disengaged and would rather not be there providing instruction or even working with youth. The staff (including administrators, instructors, and even Board Members and Corporate Office contacts) are poor in their communication skills- as in, some are not quick to respond to parental correspondence, others are unkind, short, and lack empathy in their communication, and still others ignore/ avoid contact altogether. There are several staffers who are racially intolerant to minority students and make it clear that they do not intend on running their classrooms in a fair and equitable manner. There are far more impressive charter schools in the area, and I seriously advise that you consider your child attending one of those before attending Cardinal.
Taleen&Yaleen: I love CCA. So far everything is doing great except for carpool ugh. Today the police came to get the cars off the road. Will i think they should fix the carpool y opening carpool doors at 2:30 so all cars can go in, there are 4 lanes in the carpool which they can use at that time instead of having us out on the streets, and cars fight. The main street doesn’t fit all cars. When the whole carpool is full they can have a volunteer at the light to stop cars from coming in until its 2:45. That way we all can be happy. All schools never keep their cars on the street like CCA. You can have a stop sign on the top beginning of carpool so cars wont pass it before staff and kids are ready to come out. Very easy and simple people. Please do that and fix our carpool problem. Its very frustrating. Thank you
Jeffrey Constant: It was ok but my math teacher wasn't the best
Karrie Walker: I love Cardinal. It is perfect fit for my kids. In the beginning my son struggled with reading. They helped him in everything possible to get where he should be. My son went from below grade level to above grade level. He went from hating to read to not wanting to stop reading. Thank the teachers and extra resources. He goes to school happy and says he loves his school. Very pleased. My second starts in the fall. Looking forward having him this great school.
Allison Anderson: We are finishing up our 5th year at Cardinal and have had a great experience with our two Cardinals. The teachers that we have encountered over the years are top notch and work really hard to incorporate hands on experiences to make learning fun. This year our 4th grader was able to dissect a frog and our 2nd grader had a "vending machine" to help learn about money as just a couple of examples. Other things we love include the extra hour of instruction for enrichment or extra help depending on the needs. (It also helps eliminate homework in lower grades and minimize before/after school time), two recess times for lower grades, the fact that we're not beholden to the WCPSS weather policy, specials including foreign language each week, full-time school nurse and very dedicated administrators. We also personally love the uniforms, it eliminates so much drama and reduces the scramble in our morning routine.I was leery of the K-8 environment initially since my oldest entered in Kindergarten, but having the older kids setting good examples has been really good for mine. He has watched the "big kids" on safety patrol and had them as "book buddies" and "assistants" in his class over the years and set goals for himself to be able to do that when he was older. This year he's been able to achieve that goal and is taking his responsibilities very seriously (as much as a 9yo boy can). As we approach middle school I am grateful for the smaller, tight night community that we're a part of. Middle school is so so hard and having a strong, quality peer group is very important to me.The current administration is phenomenal. They've made great strides to put us on the right track after a couple of really hard blows. They take parent input very seriously and have always been willing to listen to any concerns I've had.
COGDELL zarek: I Will Be A New Student Here Can't Wait!😄
CoolAB Artis: Can ANY PARENTS and STUDENTS give me a BRUTALLY HONEST review of this school. My family will be relocating to this area in August and the reviews are confusing because some saying its fine but not great and others are saying its bad, but not that bad....
Dmoney 23: Horrible school. Don't think you want to go there. Teachers are racism
MaZarek Cogdell: I Will Be A New Student There Can't Wait!
Miriam Carey: I went there for 4 years and all i can say is wow. The only 2 good teachers i had were in 4 and 5 grade. i was not challenged at all and i am so glad i left. parents beware!

The number of times my wife and I have shook our heads at a CA school decision and said "well, if we had to make that decision, we would have made it the exact same way".... We are so pleased, and proud our kids go to CA. Not many parents can say that about their kid's schools.
