Michael Tilley: We contracted with Carolina Exteriors for a James Hardie Full Colorplus reside and gutter replacement project. What was sold to us in December of 2020 was not what was delivered by the end of the project in June of 2021.After a total investment of $30,185, we were to receive a total siding replacement (all siding, corner boards, fascia, soffit, frieze, shingle molding) and gutter replacement on the whole house along with downspouts. You may be thinking, "That is an absurd amount to pay for a siding and gutter project," and yes, you are correct. There are multiple other companies who will do the project at a cheaper price for likely better customer service. We have since discussed this with neighbors and friends and now realized we paid an outlandish price. As they say, hindsight is 20-20.We experienced three main issues while working with Carolina Exteriors, LLC.1 - Poor Communication: After initially closing the deal with a sales member (who could sell potatoes to the Irish), we began the downward trend of a lack of proper communication. The initial issue what when the project would start. After not hearing back when we were originally promised, we reached out for an estimated start date. Then came the crickets. One week before the scheduled project start date we reached out again and had to CC multiple people in the company. We were finally successful at establishing a start date of 4/13. Throughout the project, there was a myriad of miscommunication that fell on the shoulders of us as customers. Quite frankly, we felt like we could have contracted with each of their sub-contractors and gotten the job done at a cheaper and more efficient rate.2 - Speed of the Project: The project was to be completed within 20 working days. However, it was stated in the contract that working days may not be consecutive due to scheduling of various trades. That detail was a kicker. Living in a construction site from 4/13 to 6/23 was tumultuous to say the least. If one chooses to go through this company, be prepared to expect delays upon delays.3 - Completion of Original Contract Details: As mentioned, a complete siding replacement and replacement of gutters was agreed to in the original contract and paid for at the requested times. During the sales call and initial inspection, we were sure to point out areas that may be of trouble when construction began. It was assured to us by Carolina Exterior that these items could easily be remedied. It turns out they could not and we received a measly $200 refund out of $30,185 for a set of gutters and downspouts that were not replaced (leaving much to be desired for the aesthetics of the project) and a portion of soffit directly on the house.We received a request to sign a certificate of completion on 6.21.21 asking us to sign a document that stated, "Customer(s) further certify that Seller has discussed completion of this project and any issues, concerns, complaints, or discrepancies with the governing Contract Document a nd/or project workmanship have been resolved to customer(s) satisfaction." We replied with our concerns and have not received any response.After believing what would be provided for the hefty price tag, we are immensely dissatisfied with the process and outcome of this project. I recommend individuals to get multiple quotes prior to conducting work with Carolina Exteriors. He sound like he knows what he was doing but when he actually look at the exterior wall, he can't find the cause for leakage. I was charged $75.00 for the visit and was told that the company will get back with the qoute for fixing the problem. 4 weeks later, still crickets. No reply to email or anything. I would stay away from this company as far as posible.

John DelVecchio: J Trent & Associates installed a new roof due to hail storm damage. The work was top notch (no nail guns), done very efficiently and clean up was thorough. A lifetime warranty on material and labor is provided, and Trent explained the process (before, during, and after) that made it easy for me the homeowner and gave me peace of mind. There are days I look up and admire the roof, and am assured knowing in the unlikely event there is a problem, there is a lifetime warranty. I highly recommend J Trent & Associates.

Tracy Medlin: Total roof replacement from hailstorm damage. They were all very professional and efficient. They provided me with a list of things I needed to do to get ready for their presence; moving cars, etc. They delivered materials late in the afternoon the day before. They started early and completed the job in one day. Satellite dish was down and back up before the 6:00 news. Cleanup was very thorough. I have a lifetime warranty on materials AND labor, and if I sell, I can transfer warranty to new owner. I NEVER have to worry about a roof again! These guys were GREAT!! It is rare to find the hands-on care that Trent and his crew provided during this job. My previous roof was a premium grade roof. Trent was able to get me a higher reimbursement from insurance and get copper flashing (like I had before) and heavy-duty vent caps. Rob McCuiston: J Trent and Associates did a great job on my roof replacement. We had a big hail storm in May of 2019 and within hours, the "storm chaser" roofing companies were knocking on the door. A couple of my neighbors went that route, and while I listened to 1 or 2 pitches, I was not impressed. All they talked about is that "I can get a free roof!" Nothing about quality, workmanship, etc. Plus I wanted a local company and a licensed general contractor. I contacted J.Trent and the very "hands on" owner personally came by and examined my roof, explaining his process, and most importantly to me, how they would HAND NAIL my new roof. I had researched that before contacting him, and that was what I wanted; (rare these days). He was there when the insurance company claims rep showed up, and while they agreed to replace my roof, it was on the minimal basis. J.Trent actually contacted the insurance company on my behalf and got a new skylight, new edge flashing all around, a new power vent and upgraded, thicker shingles added to my claim and at no additional cost to me. Kevin Huges: This happened to me a couple of months ago and I just kept thinking that people should know about this experience. I had recently had my house power washed by a power washing company and it did not come out great. I have vinyl siding and there was some streaks in the siding that looked terrible. I contacted Trent and he came out to my house and explained to me that the siding was ruined and that it needed to be completely replaced. I was floored by the response so I began to call other companies to come out and look at my siding, none of which gave me this information. At the very most, the other companies gave me ways to fix the issue without replacement. So armed with my newly found information I called back the company that originally washed the house, they graciously came back out and rewashed the house and it looks fabulous. Nothing was wrong just some dirt had not been rinsed off very well. So Trent never did any work for me but the information I received from this professional was very misleading and the fact that he would just throw another contractor so easily under the bus to make himself look good bothered me as well.

We were only able to do windows at the time, but we stayed in contact with them as we prepared to re-do our 90’s house’s exterior siding. Dave was fantastic to work with in defining the job specification and quote information. Due to demand, we had to wait a few months for them to get started with the job. Once they started, they were off to the races.We have a 2,700 sf home and opted for slate gray James Hardie siding. Dave said it could take a couple of weeks for the install. The My Guys crew essentially finished the job in 4½ days! They also helped out by installing our new exterior lighting for us. Hardie isn’t cheap material, so if you go that route be prepared for a pretty hefty price tag. John, the project manager, was helpful to a degree I've rarely seen: in assessing the work to be done, he constantly balanced quality with economy, and he always had the customer's interests uppermost in mind. He was also fastidiously informative: he not only let me know what was going to happen every step of the way but when the next stage (paining, gutters, carpentry) would begin. The work itself is first rate: roofer Eduardo, carpenter Rodrigo, and gutter technician Pacheco all did wonderful work--efficiently, exactly to specifications, and in a timely manner.
