Atlantic Shared Beginnings: what do users think?
Renee Richard: There are no words to describe how grateful I am to Natalie King and the whole ASB program! We’ve been patients of the beloved Dr. David Walmer at Atlantic Reproductive since 2016 and have a beautiful almost 3 year old daughter prior to the establishment of the ASB program. When our attempts to provide our first miracle with a sibling ended in a multitude of loss, my husband I believed that were at the end of our journey and our daughter would remain an only child. When Dr. Walmer introduced us to Natalie in Spring of 2020, instantly, she gave me hope and confidence that I hadn’t seen in years. I truly believe that we would be led to the exact next miracle child we were meant to have at just the exact he or she would be meant to come. Natalie, ASB, and the whole ARMS staff make you feel as if you are their only patient. Your success and happiness is their success and happiness every step of the way. Our daughter welcomed her rainbow baby brother in June 2021 and our family found its missing puzzle piece. If you are even contemplating using ASB, stop thinking, and just do it. Forever grateful doesn’t begin to describe how we will always feel.
Jesse Jeffries: Natalie was amazing! She took the time to talk to me, heard my concerns, answered my questions, explaining what I needed without making me feel inferior. She and this program give hope and change lives!
erin kuhr: Best experience of my life! My hubby and I had 15 years of the ups and downs of infertility. We came across Atlantic shared beginnings one day and said we would give it one last try. Best decision we ever made. We both had issues so we did the donor/donor route to give us the best odds of conceiving. Natalie is an Angel and helped us through everything! No question was too silly. No emotion too crazy. It was so refreshing to have a positive cheerleader helping us through the process. I’m happy to report that on our 2nd try our FET was successful and I’m sitting here holding our miracle baby. Today is the one year anniversary of that miracle FET. Atlantic shared beginnings honestly deserves more than 5 stars. The whole experience was just life changing. If you are thinking of using a donor, use this program!
Kristen LaDuke: I was a previous customer of Atlantic Reproductive Medicine. Atlantic Shared Beginnings was not available while I was a patient. Dr. Walmer let me know that they had started Atlantic Shared Beginnings. Natalie was amazing to deal with. She makes you feel like family. Everyone I dealt with was very professional and efficient. We know have our amazing miracle baby thanks to ASB!! I highly recommend them!
Alicia Gourdine: I had a very great conversation with Natalie on Friday. She answered all of my questions and it was very helpful. My husband and I have been trying to start this process and it seems like it was very difficult for us to find a solution or help. But Natalie has walked us through it and this is a great program and very affordable program. I just want to thank you for taking the time out to talk to me and explain the process. And I look forward to starting my journey with you and your staff.
Nicole Hogan: The staff are all wonderful to work with! They offer very affordable options to help build your family! We feel so lucky to have found them.
Britt: I felt really relaxed from my 1st phone call to my first appointment. They helped me with everything from scheduling to getting my rx's sent to the pharmacy. They answered all my questions and didn't make me feel like I should know the answer. Wonderful people.
Brent: We've been on a journey dealing with infertility for years - we started with Atlantic Reproductive a few years ago. At the start of this relationship the Shared Beginnings program didn't exist. But recently Dr. Copland laid out our options and provided statistics to help us make an informed decision, but we never felt pressured to take one path or the other. While one of those options was a traditional egg donor program, we felt that the cost and potential for a number of unused embryos didn't align with our needs. After speaking with Natalie about the Shared Beginnings program, we felt it was the perfect fit for us at the right time - with a level of affordability and limited number of unused embryos that we couldn't find in other programs.Going forward, Natalie was extraordinarily responsive and accommodating with her schedule, responding day and night to any questions or concerns we had. We truly felt she had our best interests in mind, aiming to find us the best donor, not just the one that would get us moving forward quickly. She wanted to ensure our needs and desires were met to get us to successful pregnancy, and kept us apprised of all progress as we moved forward. As a result, we felt we weren't just a number, which is incredibly important to us after previous negative experiences elsewhere. While the Shared Beginnings program is relatively new, our experience was extremely smooth from start to finish. We feel fortunate to have this as an option, but happier about the people involved, as it truly made it better. We were able to move forward quickly and are on a path to success already, reaching goals we've held for years.

UNC Fertility: Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill: what do users think?
lovelin horton: I am a patient at UNC fertility and extremely happy with services I have received so far. As a health care professional myself I couldn’t have asked for anything different. I had Reagan as my nurse throughout my IVF process and trust when I say she is good, compassionate ,knowledgeable and follows up effectively. Now why would you get a different doctor if you can get Dr Neal Perry. She is awesome, cares for her patients and most importantly very knowledgeable and skillful. I have been happy throughout my process. They all gave me adequate education and information regarding this process and everything when well. I am greatful.Front desk, every-time I walked in the door, she called me by my name, how wonderful is that. They actually know their patients. It’s not just numbers to them. I love itLovelin N and Fai F
K J: I’m extremely disappointed in the care I received. I had a consult then an ultrasound, that was not fully explained to me what they were looking for and blood work and the first thing said to me was that if I wanted a baby to consider a donor egg. I DO make my own eggs! I asked about my husband being tested and they never said he should. No one has ever called me back to see about following up and having more tests.I just wanted tests to see why I wasn’t getting pregnant on my own.I will never go here again. Such lack of compassion. Care has gone downhill since Dr. Merseraux left.
Tiffany Pendergraft: I first started going to this clinic back in November 2021 and so far the experience has been pleasant. I will say that the communication could be a little better towards the front end of the process, but they have addressed the staff shortage recently, which makes more sense. As we're preparing for our first IVF Cycle in December with Nurse Raegan, (She is awesome!!) communication has been excellent. She is very quick to respond and to get us the information we need. We are very excited to be working with her and Dr. Neal-Perry for our transfer.
christine salama: I started with this clinic about 5 months ago . We did all the tests and labs and dr decided that the best plan for us is IUI. We started in July. All of a sudden they said they don’t do IUI on Sundays then while I was in a middle of an IUI cycle , they sent me an email that starting 9/16 /22 they will not do any IUI at all. This is so frustrating. If you need IUI , please stay away from this clinic.
Bm779q: Very irritated. Had to fight for scheduling. Fight to get IUI meds, then the clinic is no longer doing IUIs on weekends, so if you ovulate over the weekend your screwed. Try again next month. Currently booked for IVF through the end of 2022 and not scheduling for 2023. Doctors/nurses walk into the room and have no idea what procedure your going in for. I had to tell them...did you not read my chart? 30-45min waits are common, yet they will drop your appointment if you are 5 min late.. They seem to have high staffing turn over which makes one wonder if management is creating a hostel work environment for employees. Going to try Wake Med. Fertility... maybe they staff appropriately and would like our business instead?...
Priscila Angulo: No one ever answers the phone, it’s been impossible to get a follow-up appointment. What’s the point of getting all the labs and tests if nothing actionable is going to come from it?
Tiffany Williams: Very poor time management on their end. Friendly staff though. The front desk and the doctor were very friendly and helpful.
Alexis Hunt: I already feel less than a priority. I was scheduled for a telemedicine consult yesterday and no call or email.
Heather Francis: Edit! They were going through some software updating and seems like all the kinks have been worked out "mostly" Great team and love how prompt they are on getting back to me.
Stefanie Schwartz: In my experience, UNC fertility treated me as a number instead of a patient. Each time I went the doctor/nurses had no idea what the plan was or what the next steps were for me. I had to remind them. Going through infertility is very difficult and it is imperative to have a competent, supportive medical team, which UNC fertility lacks. It’s been a year since I last went and no one has reached out to me to ask if I was still interested in their services. Since then, I’ve changed clinics, complete a round of IVF and delivered my baby a few weeks ago.
Iris Friedman: We switched clinics after a year with Carolina Conceptions. We needed a change after a loss and found Dr. Bressler at UNC Fertility. She began with some hypotheses based on our two previous IVF cycles and immediately scheduled my husband and I for follow-up diagnostic testing. Dr. B also got feedback from the other doctors and made us feel like she was doing everything she could to get us some answers, even though we didn't end up with anything new. When we jumped into our third IVF cycle, we were cautiously optimistic given that not much had changed, but in the final days before the egg retrieval, Dr. B encouraged us to go one extra day beyond what she'd normally recommend based on advice from her colleagues. We did and ended up with the most successful egg retrieval we've had yet. Even though she didn't do the egg retrieval procedure, she checked in later that day to celebrate the great results. She continued checking in throughout the week and made us feel like she was just as invested as we were in our embryos. We did a frozen embryo transfer a few weeks later and ended up with a positive pregnancy test! When I experienced heavy bleeding after a week, Dr. B treated us with empathy and clarity. She encouraged us to continue scheduling ultrasounds as we needed for our own sanity.Honestly, when we finally graduated and started to see our Ob-Gyn, we had some culture shock. We were just a number to the Ob-Gyn's office and we realized how spoiled we had been at UNC Fertility. Thank you to the entire staff for the incredible care we received. We're so excited to meet our 5BB embryo!
Kurtis S: I highly recommend this clinic. Doctor Matthew Coward is probably the most AMAZING doctor I've ever had the privilege of being treated by. If you have to wait a little while to get an appointment believe me it is well worth it and there is a reason for it. Number 1 he is an amazing doctor. Number 2 he doesn't like to Squeeze a bunch of patience in the day, he spends time with each patient, he sat with me for over an hour talking about my options. Again, I highly recommend this clinic and Dr. Coward.
Michael Eggers: Where do I begin?Short version: Dr. Matt Coward and his team were awesome to work with. Both supportive and patient, I can't imagine getting this far with anyone else. More than a year ago I was diagnosed with Non-Obstructive Azoospermia. Now, after a successful MicroTESE operation, my wife and I are ready to move forward to the next step in our fertility journey.Long version: After my diagnosis, Dr. Coward was good about laying all my options out before me so that I could make an informed decision, but ultimately he left the final decision up to me. The clinic also put my wife and I in touch with an excellent counselor who I would be more than happy to refer anyone to.It took me more than a year of counseling, discussions with my wife, and trying alternate paths before I was ready to undergo the MicroTESE procedure. When my wife and I finally reached out to discuss the MicroTESE, Dr. Coward remembered who we were and our story as if we had just spoken the week before. He was quick to answer any questions we had and I could tell he was on our side.I had assumed that I would have a horrible night's sleep the night before the procedure, but honestly it was one of the best night's of sleep I'd had in a long while. The next day, if nothing else, promised answers, and maybe some closure if the results didn't turn out well. I went into the procedure with 100% confidence in Dr. Coward and his team, and I'm rarely 100% confident about anything. While I was being operated on, my wife sat in a room nearby anxiously awaiting results. She was doing her best to manifest a positive outcome when one of the nurses rushed in, almost in tears, to tell her that they had found viable sperm. Dr. Coward was so excited when they started finding samples that he sent someone to tell my wife right away. All in all they extracted 9 samples of sperm, far exceeding all of our expectations.Still coming out of the daze of general anesthesia, the whole morning is honestly a blur to me, I vaguely recall tears, hugs, and excitement as the staff congratulated us on the results.I know that I am a lucky case, and that not all MicroTESE's are this successful. But, even if the outcome had been opposite, I would still have written some version of this review. My confidence wasn't that they would retrieve sperm that morning. I was confident that if there was sperm there to be found, they would find it. And that's an important distinction. As Dr. Coward would put it, the results aren't really up to him. There is always some level of uncertainty going into a MicroTESE procedure. But you can be confident that if there is sperm, he and his team will do everything within their power to achieve a positive outcome. The staff at UNC Fertility cares. I have no doubt that their hearts are with all of their patients, no matter what shape their fertility journey takes.Infertility is a roller coaster ride, and there are just as many ups as downs. Our journey isn't over, but we're one step closer.
Vikings Passion: Worst billing department. I would not recommend.
Rick & Rebecca: I keep calling and calling and no one has gotten back to me in weeks
Heather Jackson: The treatment that my husband and I have received at UNC Fertility has been amazing. We went through a year and a half of visits, tests, and referrals before finally arriving at UNC Fertility. From that moment forward, we gained a better understanding of what was going on and how we could achieve pregnancy. The entire staff is sensitive, caring, and friendly. The nurses are amazing and have walked us every step through the IVF process. The doctors are trustworthy and truly are the best at what they do.Communication has been key to settling my anxious mind. Communication through the portal is super quick and you have access to ask questions to anyone you need through there. I chose the email route for our IVF Coordinator and she was amazing. Any questions I had she answered them quickly. This journey has been a lot and we’re only in the beginning phases of it. However, the care and support from UNC Fertility has just been extraordinary. And even that feels cheap saying. I’m beyond thankful to be in their care and have lots of hope for mine and my husband’s future.
Clarissa L.: Absolutely loved my experience with this Clinic, they were all very professional and worked diligently to help each patient that contacts them. I had access to nursing staff at all hours via Patient Portal and email. Highly recommend Dr. Mersereau and her team of highly skilled professionals.
Holly Carter: Amazing experience with the egg freezing process. I have cancer so had to freeze my eggs ASAP before treatment. Kristy made me feel 100x better about everything and was there every step of the process. She gave such detailed demonstrations, directions to take home and checked in with me as much in person as possible. The financial lady also spent almost 2 days working with me to check every option possible. The staff that takes blood and directs everyone also became familiar with me as you go in so often during the process, it was somewhat enjoyable to go to the “doctors”. I got 19 eggs and am so thankful for everything!!!! 10/10 recommend UNC fertility!
Gracei Sg: *As person who works in healthcare, I am quite particular & did heaps of research who I’m going to consult / see as my doctor esp. fertility issues. After reading lots of reviews & asking healthcare insiders- Dr. Marc Fritz came highly recommended. Husband & I came to see him one fine day & I’ll tell you- Dr. Fritz is not only extremely knowledgeable but he came across as a kind, caring & compassionate individual, explained information in easy to remember & understandable way in a well-paced time. He answered all our questions in a respectable manner. Plus, he was quick-thinking in a sense that on that day I had blood test for diagnostic/genetic testing (saves time & effort). I highly recommend the truly great Dr. Fritz! Thank you Dr. for all that YOU do! You rock! 👏👏👏* The UNC Fertility Clinic - strategically-located, clean, practiced COVID-protocols. Easy to make appointment. Front Desk staff ANNA - was helpful & accomodating.👏👏👏*PATRICE - the phlebotomist, great manners & excellent @ what she do.👏👏 Drawn my blood successfully on the first attempt - vein sharpshooter!😀Summing up, UNC Fertility Clinic - thumbs up!👍👍👍📌Kindly like if you find this review helpful. Thanks.
Molly Rouse: UNC Fertility provided the best experience for my husband and I. Everyone that works there from the nurses and doctors to the office staff made us incredibly comfortable going through a process that can bring up lots of emotions. We are so excited to be expecting our first child thanks to UNC Fertility.
Cee Emm: I want to be clear that I hear good things about UNC's practitioners. However, we were comparison pricing IVF cycles between different clinics and UNC Fertility's financial counselors told us that they couldn't give pricing specifics and that we should plan for "between $12,000 and $24,000" for an IVF cycle. Other local clinics were able to give us line item prices for retrieval, frozen embryo transfer, ICSI, etc. (I should be clear that no clinic can give clear pricing for medication, as dosages and regimens differ and the pricing is up to the pharmacy). It's extremely strange that a medical office can't explain the cost of a self-pay procedure, or at least price items like retrieval and FET with the understanding that the cost of monitoring visits and repeated consultations can stack up.
