Debra Carrigan: My wife had seizures and I missed the mandatory phone call. I set it back it back it up. They said24hrs to 3 days.3rd day is Saturday. Which means it will be Monday. How can this be?
Jacky Bullard (Matty): After waiting weeks after week, then month after month.....still nothing, worked 15 years straight before getting laid off and this state could care less about us.
Ti'ara: if i could give 0 stars i would, back in 2019 I filed for employment after being laid off, I did not receive an update until damn near may of 2020, I received benefits for a short amount of time, fast forward to 2023 I'm laid off in SC , applied for benefits there and received 2 weeks of payments before NORTH CAROLINA states that i owe them $3K! They have garnished ALL of my unemployment from SC even though they sent a letter stating only 50% would be taken, getting ahold of someone is a nightmare.!!!

I feel bad for folks with families may God bless you that all of you get the help you need & to sum this up.... I never received a dime. It's awful how unemployment is set up now compared to the early years.

Dria Dinero: If I could give no stars I would, the unemployment agency sides with the employer 99.9% of the time even with evidence provided that my employer was lying I was still denied unemployment benefits after working for this employer for two years.
Jordan Collins: The customer service rep was helpful with helping me report my return to work after I was laid off for two weeks. However, there should have been a way to do that on the website. I applied for employment the day after I was laid off. It takes so long to get around to the benefits that there’s no point in applying at all. Aside from the customer service rep, this organization is about as useful as a screen-in porch on a submarine.

Jeramie Barideaux: Yeah got laid off --- they say I don't qualify for unemployment after working 2 years. No one to speak about it. Mean while the bills keep coming in. Overpriced apartments in the triangle. I was really helping my employer out. Now I am left with all the pieces to figure out myself apparently. I am left feeling speechless and disappointed. Mary-Ashleigh Williams: Good customer service but the system is not the best. I filed over a month ago and now a month and a half. No paycheck at this time. I may have to be there in person as there is only so much phone service can do. I truly need this payment and has been hard for me with unemployment with no paycheck. Tried to do weekly certifications and will not let me. I do not know what to do since I have filed it with frustration at this point I am losing some hope, the customer service representatives try their best but if the people need more documents there needs to be an email or some kind of notification to help the whole team out. Otherwise, how am I supposed to know what they need with no notifications?
syeda smith: NO STARS!!This place is extremely awful and should be unlawful. Due to COVID issues, the NCDESC has required 1000s of NC residents to repay monies where companies committed fraudulent acts. EVERYONE IS AWARE COMPANIES DEFRAUDED THE STATE!!The consumer can not reach anyone at this location and will remain on the phone for hours and days. Based on the information, I took the day to talk to someone face to face.The NCDES said NO PHYSICAL PEOPLE are allowed on the premises unless they have an appointment as the OFFICER/ GUARD stood behind me. I told them I needed to speak to someone regarding 2020 overpayment and would like a court date.The receptionist said we will get back with you shortly. She did NOT take my NAME or any information.Consequently, I received a letter indicating my wages and taxes will be garnished due to the overpayment but I HAVE NO ONE TO SPEAK TO DISPUTE THIS!!NCDES should be in litigation as they require people to forcibly pay the balance with "due process".SOMEONE help me and all the NC Residents with this NIGHTMARE.
ThaGriffVision: This is the worst department ever... They are slow and inefficient. The process itself is absolutely ridiculous! Not only is the benefits ridiculously low they make you wait without any back pay for the 8 weeks waiting period. And all I'm waiting for is for someone to just do their job! This is terrible and these people need to unemployed themselves... This is disgusting and disgraceful!
Garrett Keeton: NC limits its citizens to 12 weeks and a max of 350 per week. They rarely backpay for weeks properly and timely filed. The unemployment is taxed after having already been taxed against the Employer. Employers and NC are allowed to take up to 6 weeks to approve or deny a claim and allowed to take up to 14 weeks to handle an appeal. If you answer one question wrong on a weekly basis it can take weeks or months to fight and get the pay that is supposed to be occuring during that week or the following weeks waiting fr them to correct something in the system. The employees have no idea what a labor union is or that we don't have to look for work. Even if a person gets laid off more than once in a year from multiple employers the max unemployment per calendar year is 12 weeks. If you get reemployed before they finally pay out they don't back pay or they penalize you if you do get payment late due to their system. Phone call wait times exceed 45 minutes every time I call. On weeks there is a holiday they don't pay or they pay late. Supervisors are never available on request. Do not trust the employees to do their job, because they work for a government that does not care about its citizens.
David Gonzalez: I been trying to collect my unemployment since march of this year is December and still got no payment done to me the system was better before and now even the work force building still got issues every time I go there so what they going to do when I don’t have power or a home to stay is ridiculous the way are performing this time

Elizabeth Gessner: Claim filed April 4, still waiting after 53 days. They now owe me about $6K. Have repeatedly tried calling, emailing and chatting to no avail. Answered twice, first time redirected call to dropped, second time agreed with my issue, added it to a spreadsheet for someone to call me back ... right. Only one star because zero not an option.
Michael Morrison: They've handled this Covid 19 situation as poorly as they could. They've made themselves unavailable by phone. You can't get through. So if you get denied and have questions they are unavailable to answer those questions. The website looks like it was created in 1995 and operates with about that much ability. Unacceptable...

Adolfo Magana: Went in to get help with unemployment advice for resume and job search but I guess too many people abuse the system so it’s hard for real beneficiaries to obtain unemployment while a lot are drawing and working for cash under the table.
