Chinese Shao-Lin Center of Raleigh: what do users think?
Wan T: Wonderful instructors
Ben Ferguson: Sifu Mo is the best!
Sophia Goss: Chill and no pressure. Perfect for if you're just starting out.
Chris Callado: What can I say about this instructor. He's a compassionate badass that's super patient and a top notch teacher. Great environment and friendly students.
James Lind: One of the best martial arts schools in North Carolina -- the most extensive curriculum available in Chinese martial arts anywhere
tima Ck: Great place to get exercise, learn self defense and mindful tai chi. Strange but true, This is where I choose to have my “me time”!!!. Fellow students are great, fun loving, relax but also disciplined.Sifu is one brilliant and patient guy, doesn’t matter which part of the form or which form you ask him or how many time you ask him, he always answer with smiles. On line material definitely help to retain/practice my learning!!!
Pamela Melton: My family and I have been coming to the Chinese Shao-Lin Center of Raleigh for almost 2 years now. There is never a dull moment and while we are genuinely practicing a great art, there is a lot of laughter and fun too. Everyone is incredibly supportive of each other. Sifu Mo is quite brilliant. His capacity for remembering all of the forms off the cuff when randomly asked, is astounding. He is patient, firm, knowledgeable and kind. I will happily recommend this school to anyone of any age or physical ability. It might not even be the Kung Fu that keeps you here, it may just be tai-chi. There is a lot on offer and there is enough to keep you very busy.
Raquel Carney: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueIs a great place to train, learn, and in the same time have a great exercise. Sifu Mo is a great instructor will answer your questions and always review with you.
Angela Coulter: My family and I have been going for more than 3 years... and love it! We were previously in tae kwon do and hap ki do for 7 years, and then at another kung fu school for a year; this has been a great leap forward.Constantly learning new styles, forms, weapons, techniques... and it's a great mind, body, spirit balance. Self-paced in the way that you decide when you want to test to new belt levels. With the variety of what's offered, we're never bored, that's for sure, and it's a great workout!Great Sifu, laid back and yet very knowledgeable and dedicated. And we have a great pool of peers we enjoy practicing with!
Mark K: I've been training in kung fu and wushu in various schools in the northeast for about 20 yrs and this school for about 3.- A uniform is required but rules are not rigorous. It falls in between the strictest school I've been in and a "shorts and tshirt" school.- The instructor is relaxed, patient and easy going but very knowledgeable. He will point out fine details if you ask.- There is A LOT of material coming at all times. It is a bit like getting a drink from a firehose sometimes. You will need to take notes after class. You won't get bored though.- Sparring is a semi-regular part of classes.- Tai-chi can be taken separately or with kung fu. Wooden man training is also separate. There are also many seminars and you can even travel to the other schools in the US for theirs. A few are required but most are optional but they are a separate fee. Prices are reasonable.- A wide variety of weapons is offered, something I rarely see in martial arts schools.- It shares a space with an exercise class (not at the same times of course) so the floor isn't padded which makes things like rolls hard on the body.- While there isn't a separate kid's class it is mostly adults with 1 or 2 kids in class at a time and it is never a problem.- Students are very supportive of each other with a pretty wide range of backgrounds. Some are novices and some with extensive training in other styles.
Confedyank: Been going for a little while, and it’s good place to practise Tai Chi & Kung Fu for health
Lisa Rose: My daughters and husband all attend here. They started with a free month. They do tai chi and Kung Fu for 13/mth per person for 3 days a week, 1.5 hours each day! The value is outstanding and the teacher (shi fu) is a monk, so the price is greatly reduced. My husband has done a variety of martial arts and is really enjoying the quiet, focused atmosphere. Great for ALL ages!

Master Chang's Martial Arts: what do users think?
Namrata Gonsalves: Masters Changs is a really nice place. They teach kids important values along with the Taekwondo skills. Our son is student there for over 2 years now and we have seen lot of improvement in his behavior. All the teachers he had so far are really great. The staff is very pleasant and always ready to help. I strongly recommend this place.
Jason Lovett: Master Chang's Martial Arts is awesome! From the onboarding process to the classes and promotions, everything is great! Master Rashad is one of the best masters in the area. He's been doing Taekwondo for over 15 years and it shows in his teachings! He takes immense pride in his work and is willing to go above and beyond to teach the students everything they need to know to succeed not only on the mats but outside of the dojang as well. All the students love him! Having him along with the other masters and instructors makes Master Chang's Martial Arts the best place to take your family for martial arts. Learn as a family, grow as a family, have fun as a family! Join Master Chang's if you're looking to get into Taekwondo!
Hadi: Had a trial class here for our children the other week and it was a great experience. Suchun was extremely welcoming and professional--we would certainly recommend this place to others.
progamer345 na: Everything that Master Chang’s has to offer, is highly recommended on every level. From beginner to black belt level, it is nothing short of top notch training. Students don’t just thrive in their skills, they thrive in understanding respect, focus, discipline and confidence. My son trains with Master Rashad, and is soaring in life because of his teachings. He is the real deal. Other instructors such as Master Su-Chun and Master Alyssa are also top notch. Actually, all of the instructors are! Enrolling my son at this school was the best thing I’ve ever done!
dana borrellie: I had tried to get my daughter in for summer camp and was not able to afford the amount they are asking for. I asked for a change in price due to financial hardship from being a caregiver to a father who is dying of stage 4 cancer and being a single mother of two kids, You would think they would consider something. This is very disappointing news since it was discussed so highly to me by a parent. What a shame they make good money but clearly enough is not enough. It is a good thing that I saw this early on, because when I start doing well in my new position they could of been blessed by helping me and my child out for this time period, but this is what greed gets you nothing! Treat others the way you would like to be treated you never know what could happen to you. How you treat others will reflect on your outcomes.
Mariia Kovalenko: Hardly recommended for kids how need training focus, body control and discipline. Love it.
jamie clarke: My son loves it here. He has gained a lot of confidence and is taught lessons of self control, avoiding conflict, respect towards parents, school teachers, and instructors. The contract is a bit intimidating but it was explained thoroughly and we as a family decided to make the commitment and signed up for the black belt program with full understanding of the terms. We love the instructors and messages they provide. There has been a recent uptick recently in the areas of focus, discipline, and respect with the addition of Master Rashad that I love! He’s tough in a way children need and has a lot of fun! We love Master’s Bae and Su-Chun as well!
نسيمه شاهين Nassima Shahin: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value
M. C: I am very uncomfortable with conflict and try to avoid it at all costs. After joining, the studio made a significant change to their class times. The classes became much too late for my son, and I tried hard to arrange his schedule so he could continue, but he was leaving class so upset and exhausted and having to rush through dinner, I realized the new class time would not work for us. I called to pause his Taekwondo classes, and during this call, I learned that I could put his membership on hold but I could not cancel his membership without paying a fee. I was suprised to find out there was a cancellation fee, so I decided to ask what it was, so I would know for future reference. I was shocked to hear that if they "reserved the right to change any and all class times" and if their change made classes impossible for me, I would have to pay 25% of the remainder of the 12 month contract. I'd never been locked into classes for a four-year-old before, so I had believed that the 12 months was the period we were all hoping for, but I could never have imagined that they could make class times impossible for me, and then insist that I continue for 12 months.Anyway, I was just trying to learn about it, but when I expressed my shock and confusion, the director of the studio began speaking down to me and belittling me. He spoke to me as if I were a confused and absent minded mother who was probably too distracted by the children to understand the terms of the contract. This was so insulting, that I felt like it would be impossible to continue classes with a teacher who had been so disrespectful to me. So I began to ask more about their cancellation policy and express how unfair I thought it was when we wanted to continue classes, but they changed our class time. He hung up on me while I was speaking. After a while he called me back, and did not let me finish what I was saying. He did not listen to me or let me calmly express myself. I had to struggle with him to express my points in short quick statements because he was cutting me off and had already hung up on me once. Suddenly, I was in an argument, when I'd only intended to put my membership on a hold. My son adores Taekwondo and his teachers there. The director's treatment of me was cold, rude, disrespectful and even aggressive. Cutting people off the way he did and disregarding what I was saying shows a lack of respect and a lack of self discipline. How can I return to these classes with my son when I've been treated this way? How can I expect this man to teach my son respect and self discipline after he has behaved this way?Now I find myself in an impossible position. He still loves and wants to learn Taekwondo, and I know he would want to return once he was ready for this schedule, but I personally have lost trust in the company and do not want to interact with someone who has treated me this way, and who expects my family to uphold our agreement, while his company can alter the agreement at anytime according to his interpretation of the contract? In the end, the amount of money isn't enough to waste my time arguing about it, but the spirit of it shows a lack of mutual consideration, which some may not care about, but I think this is crucial to a society and how I like to conduct myself.I wish Master Chang's Martial Arts could right these wrongs so that my son could continue to attend these classes, but at this time I cannot imagine how uncomfortable I would be interacting with someone who was so aggressive with me for a mere inquiry. So, for others to be aware, according to what I was told by the director, you must lock yourself into a 12 month contract, with they can alter at any time, but you may not (technically, that does not sound like it meets the terms of a contract since they are claiming not to be bound, but again, that only matters if you care enough about the principal to contest it in court). The only way out is to pay for 1/4 of your unused months.
R. Chris Owen: We visited here for 2 trial lessons for our kids. Only after the fact did they tell us that their membership requires a 12 month commitment. If they had told us that at the front end, we have never walked in the door. But to make it worse, we are doing martial arts because our kids are painfully shy and have difficulty with new situations. So we put a lot of stress on the kids to try this place out, when we would have never tried it out in the first place. Now we will have to stress the kids out at a new place that has some class plans that fit with our family and finances.
Scott Tworek: Great instructors who care about the students. Highly recommend.
Tim Prati: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueMy family loves the family at Master Chang's in Cary. Master Bae and Master Su-Chun Mott. I look forward to celebrating many achievements with them.
Cathy Bixby: Positive:ProfessionalismExcellent staff! They possess great energy and excitement!! My son absolutely LOVES his classes. My husband and I look forward to watching him grow and truly enjoy watching the classes ourselves!
Sara Nicholson: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityMaster Chang's in Cary is a great facility. Small, but mighty ;) Very high quality instruction, good instructors, and very entertaining for my 6 year old boys. Teaches great values and lessons to them, like focus and general good behavior. I recommend for any child (or adult!).
Su-Chun Rain: Master Chang’s Martial Arts is a quality establishment. Energetic and knowledgeable staff, passionate students, and good family friendly atmosphere. Very happy to have my children taking classes here with Master Gabe and the rest of the staff. I’ve been a lifetime student of martial arts, but this place has been great to get my family involved with this passion. Thank you all so much!
Mack Jones: Amazing school, The company clearly cares about quality.
Tanya Fritz: Our son has been at the Master Chang’s location for over 3 years now... and his next test will be for the black belt. We chose Master Chang’s because they do a great job of incorporating fun while always maintaining discipline and structure. It has built our son’s confidence, especially since joining the Demo team. Earning his black belt is a great example of setting a goal and achieving it through hard work and effort. The staff care about the kids- and know everyone’s name!
Dai Tworek: We've been going to Master Chang, Cary for over 3 years. My son just turned 6 and we celebrated his birthday at Master Chang. It was incredible! They made my son feels so special. The whole experience was wonderful. Master Kim has everybody attention from the start. He was so good with the kids and got everyone doing Taekwondo including the parents. The kids and the parents loved it. My husband and I got so many compliments from our guests about how amazing it was. Ms Sarah was excellent. She was nonstop and took care everything. She went above and beyond our expectation. Master K was so funny and was very good at keeping everyone engaged . His positive energy was contiguous, everyone had a great time. The staff was amazing and made my son feel so special. My son was the center of attention. I would definitely recommend birthday party at Master Chang, Cary. You won't be disappointed.
J. Hulala: We miss Master J. Park very much.
Amy Mitlitsky: My son has been taking lessons for about a year and I have seen wonderful changes in him. He is a typical 7 year old boy with too much energy and they have taught him discipline and respect as well as amazing martial arts skills. All of the masters are wonderful and they make him feel like a part of the family. His grades have also improved due his improved discipline and confidence. Highly recommend this school!
Jessica Biswas: My son has been taking classes at the Cary location for a year now. He absolutely loves it. Master J Park and his staff encourage him to do his best and make him feel great pride in his accomplishments. He has definitely developed greater self discipline, greater focus, and endurance. He has made great friends and feels like a real team member. It's an excellent program for children and adults...you will definitely get in shape!

Earth Monkey Energies: what do users think?
Sayonna Adams: I have absolutely loved my weekly Tai Chi classes with Tish! She has helped me center myself and destress (A feat as I'm a mom of 2 young boys and a 1st grade teacher). I can't wait for round two of sessions and learn more Tai Chi and self-awareness from Tish.
Arlene Silberman: Tai chi for seniors at the Hunt Center in Holly Springs is a wonderful class. The classes are about balance stretching and breathing. Tish has the skills and knowledge, and No Stress attitude enabling us to work out and improve our bodies. My whole body has improved!
Chad Berwick: I have taken a few Tai Chi classes from Tish now and I couldn't recommend her more! She really listens to her students and tailors the class to their desires and needs. I am looking forward to continuing to learn from her and recommend anyone looking to dive into Tai Chi to consider learning from Tish.
Erica Blizil: Tish is a Tai Chi master and a wonderful teacher. I attended her class at the Holly Springs Recreation Center in early 2022 and am moving to private lessons to gain more depth and personalized instruction. Her patience, ability to explain new concepts in different ways and her compassionate care for her students well being is unsurpassed. You will benefit from and learn new movement skills to gain healthier bodies and minds from her instruction. Thank you again!!
Erica Bryant: Tish's classes are awesome! I started with Tai Chi in Dix Park last summer not knowing how much the movements and friendship with classmates would impact my life. The lessons have help with my balance, posture, mental health, meditation practice and the list goes on! Tish is also a great teacher and encourages everyone to share their thoughts which has helped build rapport among the class. Great work Tish!
Curt Baney: I was fortunate to have Tish Oakley instruct some of my neighbors in Tai Chi! Outside of Tish’s 30 year mastery of her craft, I found her relational skills to be superb. From individual instruction to classes of 30, you can’t go wrong with Tish and Earth Monkey Energies!
Caitlin: Tish brings a calm and reassuring presence when instructing on Tai chi movement. Joining the Tai chi group on a weekly basis has helped me decompress after work, connect with nature ( especially after the breathing exercise) meet new neighbors and most importantly focus inward to rediscover inner peace!
Ben Howard: Tish was a great Qigong and Tai Chi instructor. I did about two months of Qigong and one month of Tai Chi. Qigong was eye opening to how I can find peace and energy within myself. Tish set a chill tone and had the ability to guide my energy from being anxious and tense to just chill. Qigong is a great new tool for stress relief for me.Tai Chi was a difficult but rewarding challenge for me. It taught me how to stay grounded and flow. It's surprising how the unspoken lessons of moving my body translated into every day life. Thanks Tish!
Christopher Hall: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityI have really enjoyed learning Tai Chi from Tish. She teaches the form very well, explains all the steps and is eager to answer any questions. Her enthusiasm to share is awesome! I highly recommend her.
Donna Pate: I hold a lot of stress and tension in my shoulders and friends tell me constantly to lower them. I went to the All For Balance Mind Body Integration Workshop and learned different breathing techniques that I now use to help lower my shoulders, puts me in a calmer state of mind and I feel less stressed out. Tish Oakley, the instructor, makes you feel at home with her serene voice, whether she's teaching or doing a guided meditation. I would 100% recommend her workshop to anyone who is stressed or has a lot of tension. I will definitely be going back.
Caleb Nielsen: Tish led a Tai Chi class for some Seniors at our Retirement Community. She did a great job adapting the movements to their ability, was very patient and friendly, and exhibited a good understanding of the benefits of Tai Chi for their age-group. We appreciated her services and would recommend her to others as well!
