I started reading the reviews and was like omg. It seems the only complaints is either there to expensive or because of the parking. Well.. don’t park there when you’re not supposed to! Signs are clear. As far as expense … it’s a consignment and gift shop. If you can’t afford to shop there go to a cheap thrift store or habitat that you can afford. As far as how the people act when you come in? Not one single time have they ever been rude or not pleasant not once. So in saying all that if you want a fun place to go this is a gem. Didn’t expect to write one this long but I sure get tired of people using reviews as weapons against great businesses. And this one I highly recommend. Thanks
Lynn Canada: This place is sooo much fun to just look or shop. If you can take time there is no telling what you may find. If you are specifically seeking something you just may find it and some pleasant surprises. They do seasonal and holiday themes, have sales, have good parking, nice location to get in and out of. Can use as your birthday treat shopping spot, or find something special for a friend or collegue. Over time some changes to inside vendor areas, never a disappointment, always interesting. Very nice staff.There has been some changes to the layout, and still wonderful to look through. You can go with a list, or just look. I always find lots of interest, and items to purchase any time of the year. Sometimes the vendors are there, always pleasant people!3/23...has been reorganizing...very nicely set up, so many wonderful things. As usual I bought a gift today, easy. Still a delight. Staff wonderful.

Stephanie Kistler: Do NOT park in their lot. A friend and I both got towed because we were going to Bull City Ciderworks and thought the lot was safe to park in. We were inside no more than an hour so they must have someone monitoring the lot - keep in mind this is long after The Perfect Piece had closed. I guess they would rather be predatory and make $225 (cash only) off every car they tow rather than just enforce paid parking like everyone else. Then to top it all off, the attendant at the very questionable looking tow lot lectured us about how much these people pay in rent for the building each month and how this should be a “lesson” to us. Truly unbelievable behavior.
Amber Schmidt: This place is a hidden gem! We love going there but it’s all about the hunt. Somethings you can find for a great price and other things are over priced but it’s all about that search. The people working there have always been pleasant and Ive been going for several years now. Side note: it doesn’t hurt to go to the front and ask if the vendor is willing to take less for a particular item.

Bilal Saib: I’ve bought many things from here and have had them make me multiple custom cabinets. The work is excellent and I assure you, I will be buying from them again.
Terry McBroom: Worked here less than 2 days. Entire place is full of mold and the "craftsmen" are just husband and wife immigrant couples that are extremely underpaid and taken advantage of. The entire warehouse/shop is full of black mold the roof leaks everywhere, there is 1 small exhaust fan in the paintbooth (using that word very loosely) that barely pulls any air and has no filters so plenty of pollution happening. I was handed a dust mask to spray stain and paint... The entire place stays full of dust and mold smell. I can assure you the people who have been there a long time have and will have terrible health issues! And on top of all of that I was never paid for my time worked.pics are of the paintbooth, and rot in the ceiling as well as the mold in the break room beside the refrigerator.
Lucila Munoz: Paid for custom bookshelves that were to be completed in 10 weeks. The guy who I spoke with seems to fully understand what I wanted. After 18 weeks, I received bookshelves of hideously poor workmanship.UPDATE: finally installing the cabinet pulls and finding more flaws. The doors are not the same size, warped, not plumb and the soft close hinges push them in past the frame. The more I look, the worse the workmanship is.OLD PART: 4 of the doors were clearly cut too short and corrected with adding an extra piece. The stain is completely uneven. There are edges that were cut with a dull saw and the edges are torn vs. cleanly cut.Sadly, I left them wrapped up 2 months and was disappointed when I finally saw what I had paid for. By this time, I needed the shelves so I sucked it up and kept them.And now whenever I look at them, I don’t see the bookshelves that I’d always dreamed of, I see the poor quality that cost me too much. :-(

They can be bought painted or unpainted, which I think is great in case customers, like me, want an unusual color or a different finish than usual. Very good option. Adrian's attention was wonderful. Julio Laliberte: They got the job done eventually, I’ll give them that. After telling me it would take “a couple of weeks” to complete, it actually took 2 months. The quality was not particularly great either. I’m all for buying local, but if I had it to do over again, I would hire a local handyman. It would most likely be higher quality and completed on time (probably a lower price too)

So...guess they don't want my business? It's 2021, we've been in a pandemic for a year, this isn't hard stuff. Very frustrating.

Stephen Daniel: Solid wood furniture at a fair price. Nothing too fancy -- if you are looking for designer pieces made from exotic hardwoods this isn't the place. Nor does it compete with Ikea for very low end stuff.What you get is very solid bookcases, tables, desks, beds, cabinets or similar, custom finished at an ok price
Julia Gamas: The first order was placed in December. It was February before I heard back one way or the other after leaving them 3 or 4 voicemail messages. Even then they seemed to call back promptly after it was my husband who called and left voicemail. After they delivered the two pieces we requested in the wrong color, they said they would remedy the situation by delivering the desk in the right color. We waited another 3 weeks. They just delivered again. The new desk was rushed to completion judging by the dribbles of varnish in the bottom front, you can see where the nails were put in and are a different color, and some of the edges are unfinished. This, in contrast to the other piece which they made and we kept which is well finished and what I had expected for the price. I am disappointed in the local business I wanted to support with my money. I am never going to them again. I cannot post pictures here, but will try to on yelp.

Jennifer Malloy: Ordered a small custom bookcase from the now-closed Cary branch in January 2017. Unfortunately, the quality of what I received looked nothing like the wares that were for sale in the showroom. The back looks like it was stapled on and is buckling in places, stain is missing in spots on the back edge (see photo), and I get a splinter every time I touch the edge of the back, because it is so rough (which is why I'm posting this now, because I just got another splinter from pulling it out from the wall). Staining on the top where it is grooved is also not very good. Wish now that I had complained and tried to get my $300 back.
Mike Bald: Completely unprofessional staff with a store that has kiddy pools lining the entire area because the roof is leaking. Decided to make an order but they wouldn't respond to phone calls within the estimated time they provided for the completed order. 3 days after they were supposed to have the order completed they informed me that they were missing a material, so it would be longer. I attempted to get a refund but they don't seem to have an established refund policy. Avoid at all costs! I am currently without both my payment and the bookcases and it's been over a month since the order.
Erinn Evangelista: We had Durham Bookcases build us an entertainment center and all I can say is... WOW! It knocks our socks off every time we look at it, even after a month of having it in our house. It turned out better than we ever could have hoped and the fact that you can customize every last detail is amazing. These folks are great to work with and the product is affordable for solid wood and handmade.
