Beth Nash: We are pleased to recommend Triangle Reconstruction with our highest praise. It seems too simple to say that they do what they said they’d do, but that’s exactly what happened. Our home is around 50 years old. Ours was a large job - around a month and $30,000. We had Triangle Reconstruction come in after another moisture company provided mold remediation and a humidifier. I wish we’d contacted TR to start with. We provided TR with a structural engineering report. They created a plan to exactly meet all of engineer’s concerns. TR used temporary supports and replaced seal plates, girders, and joists for over half of our home. In addition, they poured footers and built new columns. They also added a few additional girders to firm up our floors. They removed and replaced our insulation. They sealed our porch and crawl space, replaced our vapor barrier, and installed a moisture meter. They wrapped our electrical cords and hung them.We were treated with respect at every step of the process. Both Brian and Rob were available at any time we had a question via text or phone call. From Brian, we received a daily morning report, with the benchmarks they hoped to accomplish that day, who would be on site, when the workers would arrive, and an update of what was accomplished the previous day. We were provided with a ton of photos and videos to document the progress under the house. Either Rob or Brian was on site each day. Rob took care of all permitting and being present on site when the town inspectors visited. The majority of the work in the crawlspace was done by Jose and Juan Carlos with some support by Valentin. Jose painstakingly hand selected each piece of lumber. My husband was impressed with the quality of lumber. Each worker who came out to our house was detail-oriented and respectful of us and our property. The work space was kept tidy and waste was removed daily.We were very worried about workers getting injured given the structural damage and the tight crawlspace. We appreciated that TR did not work their crews excessively long days. The guys had a milestone to hit each day. Sometimes they worked for four hours. Sometimes six. At no point were the crews expected to put in 10- and 12-hour days and work to the point that accidents could happen. As a family with kids, this was also respectful of our home’s routines.We are particularly grateful for the Jose’s perfectionist tendencies. My husband is an engineer and critical. He was stunned at how Jose and Juan Carlos removed wood that was spongelike and now our crawlspace looks like a brand new house. The joints are tight. Everything is perfectly lined up. Only screws were used (no nails like we see from our early 1970s construction) and joist hangers supplement each board to ensure they stay in place. Our home has never felt more solid and sturdy.Brian is exceptional in what he does. He is precise in his speech. He is respectful and kind. He pitches in to help the crews whenever needed. One day, I caught him on his hands and knees in our driveway making sure no errant nails had escaped their cleanup. I work from home and as such, was home each day. At least twice a week, he’d walk me through what was happening, explaining why they were doing certain things. Brian would walk through the interior and take note of changes we were seeing. When needed, he’d have Jose come inside to see changes and adapt midstream. At these times, both Brian and Jose (and sometime Rob) listened, made notes, explained what was happening in a way I could understand without being demeaning.Due to the extent of the damage, we did have some minor cosmetic damage inside (cracking in sheet rock, hardwood floors moving, etc). Brian kept a running list of what we saw inside. As he predicted, the majority of those resolved themselves in a matter of days due to the talents of Jose and Juan Carlos. Upon their recommendation, we withheld a retainer. The crew will be back in six weeks or so to handle any needed shimming and fix minor cosmetic damage.

Mason Leitch: I had several folks come out and take a look at our crawl space and we received a lot of feedback about how if we didn’t clean out our crawl space immediately we would have major health problems and the house would fall apart. Triangle Reconstruction came out and confirmed what I already knew from my own personal inspection and that of the home inspector before we purchased the house, we had some issues but nothing too crazy. There was no gloom and doom or high pressure tactics to get us to use Triangle Reconstruction. Robert showed me pictures of the problem areas and explained what they could do to fix the issues. Robert provided a good, better, best plan and clearly went through what they could provide and what we could expect. Peter Reavey: Triangle Reconstruction installed baffles and blow-in insulation in my attic spaces over existing (and 35 yr old) insulation. The assessment/quoting process was easy. They provided different lines for their recommendations and we chose which services we wanted to go with (e.g., we did not choose radiant barrier installation). The team of two that did the work were friendly, efficient and did a great job. Most importantly, we got exactly what we wanted from the project. We immediately felt better comfort in our home. Our bonus room over the garage that was once cold or hot depending on the outside temperature is surprisingly stable now, and this review is about 2 mo from installation. Ric Schank: Over the year we've lived in our new CLT house, we obtained 4 quotes to address drainage issues, described by the previous owner as a "little seepage with heavy rains" in the basement storage area, which turned out to be a "lot of seepage with moderate rains". Most of them suggested solutions that seemed to be wasted money, everything from blasting through the basement floor to create new drains, to replacing vapor barriers and sealing up the basement and crawl space, etc. Nick at Drain Designs Charlotte suggested instead a set of new drains to take downspout and runoff water away from the house to a back culvert. Made sense. Job completed a couple of weeks ago. After, we had a few light rains so the ground had some moisture a then a 2" steady rain - instead of water seeping in from all sides of the basement, there was a small trickle at one side. Then next day, around the corner with the trickel, I banked dirt against the house to slope away from the house towards the new drains Nick's team had installed. Next day we had a solid 1" of rain - a few drops entered at that corner. It's not perfect, but for an 85-year-old house, we're pretty darn pleased. We recommend Nick and Drain Designs.

John Ladd: We couldn't be more pleased with Drain Designs as a company and especially pleased with the results of the excellent work by Rob and his crew. Our home has a concrete drive and sidewalks that slope to the front of the house. After even a minimal rain (remember those??), the garden area out front and under the steps of the front porch would be drenched and soggy for days. The side yard, where the driveway ends, was so soggy you couldn't walk on it after a rain without having your shoes sucked off your feet. The soil in the garden adjoining the rear of the house drained so poorly that the garden wasn't usable during the spring and fall. Rob and crew dug up and pulled the old, corrugated black pipe coming from the gutter downspouts and replaced them with smooth PVC pipe. Now, debris won’t get trapped in the pipe over time. Not only did they attach all the gutter downspouts to the new pipe, they added French drains at the front and rear of the house that are tied into the new system. Foundation drains for the HVAC and water heater were also tied into the system and two drainage boxes were added in the front yard and where the driveway ends.Now, any rain that falls or condensation from appliances is directed away from our house into the woods. The work was completed right before two days of heavy rain. When we looked in the woods after the first rain, we could see pools of water in the woods that would have previously been saturating the ground around our foundation. The very best part . . . whenever it rained more than just a shower, the humidity in our master bedroom (facing the driveway and sidewalks) would shoot up to between 60-65% causing us to run a room sized dehumidifier, sometimes for hours each day, to reduce the humidity level. The first rain after the new drainage system was installed, I checked the humidity in our bedroom. It was 39%! I was thrilled! We've had several more days of rain and the humidity level has not risen above 41%. The front and back gardens are nicely drained and you can keep your shoes on walking on the side yard.I was also impressed with how neat and clean they left our property after the job was done. It’s a little thing but it shows the kind of care they take and their professionalism.It's rare to find a company that keeps its word, does excellent work, has respectful and friendly staff, and excellent customer service. These folks care about the work they do and service they provide and it shows. I highly recommend Drain Designs.

Justin Williamson: Over a few years, what started as "Hmm, I thought that would be dry by now" turned into "I guess our yard will just be soup for the next week". We got quotes from a few drainage companies to help try to solve our issues, but the biggest difference between Drain Designs (Durham) and their competitors was the bidding process:They charged for the quote. Because of that, they did the most thorough job by far, inspecting what was going on with our yard, existing piping, etc. They uncovered things that other companies missed, and spent more time than any of the rest discussing with us what they thought should be addressed, and why. Ultimately, that quote charge got rolled into the job, so it ended up being free.Once the work started, there were a few additional hiccups that were uncovered, primarily around the usability of existing piping (which we had discussed as a possibility beforehand), that caused the plans to change early on, but Robert was very transparent with us, and though the cost went up a bit, we felt like the adjustments were reasonable.Near the end of the multi-day job, a tropical storm rolled through, and the crew were out here until nightfall trying to get as much done as possible ahead of the storm; we really appreciated the extra effort they put in. And Robert even came out on a Sunday to finish the job by himself.Overall, we were incredibly impressed by their thoroughness, transparency, and the quality of their work -- our backyard is actually usable again the day after a heavy rainfall, and we couldn't be happier.

I explained to him the drainage issues we had then we walked through the property together and he was very knowledgeable about what the solution needed to be. He answered all the questions I had and he was confident that he can fix the issue . I loved that he provided a very detailed quote quickly (This was big for me because a lot of other companies were wasting my time by coming out to look and then not sending us a quote). It was a quick process to get in the schedule as well and they were very accomdating to our schedule. Him and his team got it done in 2 days. At the end, he took us through a walk through of the finished product and explained how everything worked and what we need to do to maintain it. They did a great job of cleaning everything up once they were finished and left the property better than it was before. Overall this is one of the best customer service experience I’ve had. The heavy rain from today is just vanishing in the system.I also want to pass along that the installation crew was fantastic. Brett Boz: Hamilton and his crew are the best contractors we've ever hired.From the initial planning, Hamilton gave us several options with details of what the pros and cons of each were. He went over the materials and equipment that would be used. We even discussed what would be done to minimize the aesthetic effect of digging draining lines in our lawn.Unlike a lot of contractors, Hamilton and his crew showed up on time and performed all of the work they were contracted to. The job was scheduled for 2 and a half days and they were able to get it done in 2. The crawlspace under the house was so clean after they worked on it that I honestly couldn't believe it. I crawled around under there just amazed at what a clean job they did.There was a very minor issue with one of the drain lines that we discovered after Hamilton and his crew had left. We called the home office and informed them of the problem. Hamilton came out and fixed it immediately. He told me to call if there were any other problems and he would handle it personally. After that service, I believe him.We had the work done in August and it's now November. I've been under the house multiple times over the last two months, and it's been bone dry every single time. I even went under the house after one of the recent heavy storms and the crawlspace was dry. The work has performed perfectly.I would recommend this company to everyone. They do fantastic work, are very easy to work with, and they're very responsive to any issues that arise. Can't ask for anything more.

Gordon Cressman: Two weeks ago, during a hard rainstorm, my wife heard the water running in our finished basement. Water was gushing in from around the water pipe, where it enters the basement through the concrete block foundation. We called Drainage & Waterproofing Solutions for help. Owner Jaris Alvarenga arrived the next day. He explained the problem in detail and discussed alternative solutions. We had a detailed quote the following morning. Jaris’s crew arrived on time and did high-quality work. Outside the foundation they excavated five feet of soil to just below the waterline entrance, sealed around the waterline, cleaned and parged the brick foundation, applied waterproofing to the wall, then two layers of waterproof membrane, and gravel fill before filling the remainder with soil. Inside, they sealed around the waterline where it enters the basement. They left the outside as clean as they found it. Drainage & Waterproofing Solutions are experienced professionals that do quality work at a fair price. We would call on them again and recommend them to others.

Communications were clear, cost was competitive with other bids, and the workers had great attitudes. The digging was done carefully by hand, rather than with a machine, and the result was beautiful.
