Not only is the venue absolutely gorgeous and has a vintage feel to it but the house itself is a fantastic place to take photos. It was so easy to work with Sarah through the booking process as well planning the table setting. On the day of the event the event coordinator not only called the caterer who were running late to check on them, she also expertly cut the cake for the guests and even packed the leftover ones for us to take. Originally planning to have both our ceremony and reception in summer 2020 at the Matthews House, Covid required us to radically change our plans. Sarah was very accommodating and allowed us to hold a small outdoor ceremony on our original 2020 date, and we had our full celebration and reception the following summer of 2021. Heather was instrumental in helping us coordinate our big wedding ceremony and reception. She walked us through the amenities provided by The Matthews House, coordinated with our vendors, and made sure the night ran smoothly. The Matthews House itself is gorgeous and was the perfect size for our 100-guest event – not too big and not too small. Both the interior and exterior of the house exude a classic, timeless spirit that is amenable to just about any wedding theme or color palate. We could not have been happier with our choice of venue!

Ken Ray (mrkenray): A lovely spot for any formal occasion. I was surprised at how much parking there was. And there was accessible parking, too. The interior of the house is smaller than it looks from the outside. But there is ample space in the dining hall behind the home. I would say the only drawback to this place is the fact that there are too few bathrooms for a venue that accommodates this many people.

Meredith Sherrod: We had our wedding reception at The Matthews House in August of 2022! I looked into about 20 wedding venues around the triangle in 2021 when we were planning, and TMH was definitely the best value. The game changer was having a wedding coordinator included in the venue price. Heather was ours, and she was fantastic. She and Sarah, TMH owner, did everything they could to make sure our day went smoothly and fit our vision. We were so happy with how the day turned out. We got ready upstairs that morning, took pictures on the beautiful lawn, then had the ceremony at a church nearby. We came back for cocktail hour and the reception! We had 130 guests and the ballroom fit our group well with room for a full dance floor. Everything you really need is included in the venue rental price - tables, chairs, basic linens, etc. We were able to choose our vendors off a preferred vendor list, and use folks who were not on the list too. This really helped with our budget. Truly the perfect day and the perfect venue. Highly recommend!!!

Every room is very unique and large enough for all the guest to spread out. The porch is a great place to kick back and relax for a minute. Fresh beautiful flowers were strategically placed throughout the house and outdoor areas. This venue exceeded my expectations in every way. There is a separate area where the makeup artist could do her work, it was well lit and included two nice vanities. This wedding was for 100 people, I didn’t not feel crowded at all. I would definitely consider having an event here. THE STAFF WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!! Everyone was so nice, courteous, and professional.

They provided suggestions/ideas and were open to our ideas as well. And the food....OMGoodness! Very flavorful, hot and delicious. Eggrolls are a MUST. I can't say enough about them and their customer service. PRICELESS!

We have worked with Cara and Hannah for the last 1.5 years planning our wedding and it was actually so much fun working with them. Our wedding was perfect and while I'm thrilled to be married to my husband, I'm a little sad that it's over! The modern yet classic feel of the venue was exactly what we were looking for and close to Cary/Apex/Raleigh where none of our guests were traveling out of the way to get to our event. The staff truly has such a gift and I look forward to seeing the space continue to be used to capture and create incredible wedding/event memories for many others over the years to come!

Allie Whisnant: My husband and I got engaged the week before The Upchurch’s first wedding in May of 2022. I had not yet heard of the venue and I am beyond thankful that my sister found out about it and showed it to me! The aesthetic is a nice change of pace from the extremely industrial or barn style venues that seem to be the main options in the triangle. With a historic home, lawn, modern yet classic building (the conservatory) and a pond, you really get a little bit of everything with this venue. The restored home is absolutely stunning, as is the rest of the property. The various features and furnishings provide just enough for you to keep your style simple but decorated without spending a ton of money on speciality rentals, but there is plenty of space to bring things in if you’d like to go all out.As for the people, I can’t say enough about Cara (the owner) and Hannah. Cara has been in the industry for years and is very knowledgeable about the ins and outs of everything, including local vendors. They were very communicative and always willing to help and even go the extra mile when I had questions or needed advice. I highly, highly recommend the Upchurch!

It encompassed both an old and new feel with the historic house up front and the newly designed conservatory in the back. Hannah did a fantastic job coordinating the various vendors and keeping them informed of all the details. It really simplified the process. She also did an awesome job keeping things running so smoothly the day of the wedding which let us just enjoy the day. There were many highlights, but we appreciated the flexibility to build a do-it-yourself photo booth for the reception in the front room of the house.It was a truly special day that we will never forget!Crissy and Bob

What I love the most is how many different ways the historic home, event lawn, and reception hall can be configured for event flow, size and style. Top that off with a great team (including their caterer partner, Rocky Top), and the caring, hospitable owner Cara Powell, and you have an absolute dream venue!

Emma Spurr: The UpChurch is an incredible venue. We held our wedding here and our guests were raving about it for months after! The historic home is beautifully decorated, the owner, Cara, poured her heart and soul into the venue and it is evident in all the beautiful pieces of artwork she selected for the home. There is a conservatory space which is the perfect reception space! It is an open canvas, so brides can create the space of their dreams. Not only is the space amazing, but the owner and venue manager are some of the kindest people you will meet! You can tell when someone is doing what they love, and all the staff of The UpChurch truly care about their clients. I had such a great experience working with The UpChurch team. I will 100% recommend The UpChurch to anyone looking to get married in the Triangle!

Kristen Dahlstrom: I cannot even begin to explain how amazing The Upchurch is. My husband and I booked The Upchurch while it was still under construction - the reason being the two ladies that are the face of the venue, Cara and Hannah. We had the absolute best experience working with both of them, from their VERY timely responsiveness in emails to the several scheduled tours, up to the wedding day, they were fantastic. I think it's so important to not only fall in love with the look and feel of your wedding venue space, but also the people behind it. It really transforms your experience and I am so lucky that we found them. The wedding venue itself is stunning, the Main House is the perfect space for cocktail hour, and the artwork inside of it was carefully selected by Cara - she has a story behind each selected piece of artwork, which is so cool. The Lawn is dynamic with different lay out options, we chose to face the trees which I thought was amazing given the bride's walk from the Main House. And finally, the conservatory is beautiful - overlooking the pond with the fountain, the detail inside and outside of this space is incredible. I feel like The Upchurch is one of the more unique venues in The Triangle area as it pulls in different styles from modern to traditional, which is what really pulled me and my husband in. Above all, these ladies are so invested to make your day perfect and I could not recommend getting married at The Upchurch more! SO excited to get our photos back and see how beautiful their venue was captured!

Erin McGovern: Cara and Hannah are AMAZING! We cannot recommend The Upchurch and working with them enough. We booked at The Upchurch when it was just the house on a dirt lot. At our initial tour, Hannah made us feel so comfortable and helped us to see Cara's vision for the spaces and we are so glad that we decided to book! We were married on the Friday that hurricane Ian came through Raleigh and everyone at The Upchurch went above and beyond to make our day so special despite the hurricane rain and winds, including being more than prepared for anything that could have happened! Cara called us the night before to give us some encouraging words about the weather and it was so special to hear from her and is a true testament to how much they care about the couples getting married at The Upchurch. The spaces at the venue are beautiful and you can tell that every detail was carefully thought about. Cara and Hannah are so kind, thoughtful, and patient and truly went above and beyond to make our day special. I cannot speak highly enough of them and you will not regret booking your wedding at The Upchurch!

Alexia Farmer: We signed with The Upchurch in the early stages of the construction process. After meeting Cara for a tour, we instantly fell in love with her and her vision for The Upchurch. Cara and Hannah are both knowledgeable event professionals who were great resources for us throughout the whole wedding planning process, even when it came to locating and booking other vendors. It was important for my fiancé and I to connect with the vendors we hired and, because of the personable nature of Cara and Hannah, we have gained lifelong friends.The event space is beautifully and thoughtfully designed, and you can feel the love and detail that went into making The Upchurch such an amazing venue. The bride's suite and groom's suite allowed not only us, but all of our wedding party and beauty team a space to get ready in prior to the wedding, which was important to us in selecting a venue. The Conservatory is a huge space surrounded by windows that created such an inviting yet cozy ambiance in the room as the sun began to set. This was definitely the favorite amongst all of our guests. In-house catering and rental coordination made for a few less decisions we had to make and we could not have asked for better vendors to work with than Rocky Top Catering and Curated Events (formerly CE Rentals).Cara, Hannah and The Upchurch will always hold a special place in our hearts as the team and the venue that worked so hard to help bring all of our wedding dreams to life. You will not regret booking your wedding at this incredible venue with such an amazing team!

However for the time I was there they had just sanded the greens and the shots would not hold on the greens nor hold the line of your putt. Plus the fairways were scarce of grass .Again due to the season. But still not much fun. Can't wait to play in warmer weather and better conditions

The Golf Course is truly spectacular and you will enjoy playing it whether you are a high handicapper or scratch golfer! The view from the 18th tee box is unmatched in the Triangle. If tennis is your thing there are 8 clay courts as well as hard courts too. Sitting right on MacGregor's lake you have a spectacular view to enjoy your favorite beverage after your match! I know my family and my clients have enjoyed everything the Club has to offer and the food is yummy too. If you want a club that feels like family come join us!
