4worldlovers: Sweet Spot Studio opened in Fall 2018 to satisfy the cravings of curious and aspiring bakers of Charlotte and surrounding areas. We offer pastry and baking classes to all levels of bakers, as well as intensive workshops for industry professionals.

Here at Sweet Spot Studio, we believe in providing accessible, affordable, and quality education to anyone wanting to dive deeper into the world of Baking & Pastry Arts. We hear from students all the time that they have been looking for a school that offers a wide range of classes, with no long-term commitment required.

Many of our students work in other fields and baking is their creative outlet. Some are looking to switch careers, finesse their existing skills, or just learn something new. We design our standard classes to satisfy the needs of each of these student groups. In all of our classes we find out why our students are in here, and make sure they leave ready to tackle their goals. We hope to demystify baking, and empower students to want to continue their practice outside of the classroom.

For more advanced students, we have Level 2 and Professional Level classes. All advanced classes have prerequisites listed in the descriptions. With boot camp style classes, 2-day classes, and our 12 Week Professional Training Program we are a premier destination for advanced baking and pastry education.

Chef Jossie & Alyssa both have a passion for teaching. At Sweet Spot Studio, once you are our student, you are always our student. We have an ability to make students feel comfortable while being vulnerable in front of us and our other students. So much of what we do is not even teaching skills as much as setting realistic expectations for growth, and increasing confidence to set students up for success. Everything learned in one class will be applied towards the next time they practice the skill. This mindset not only makes the learning process less stressful and more enjoyable, but it makes students who may have otherwise quit, want to keep getting better.

Although we are not an accredited pastry school, we teach the applicable skills that allowed us to run pastry programs at fine dining restaurants, a hotel, and a large bakery. Our classes are high quality educational experiences that no other recreational cooking school in Charlotte offers at our level for baking and pastry.

Jossie Lukacik is the Owner and Head Cake Decorating and Professional Level Instructor at Sweet Spot Studio in Charlotte, North Carolina. She founded Sweet Spot Studio in 2018 after seeing a void in Charlotte for people wanting to learn baking basics and perfect their pastry technique. Sweet Spot Studio offers pastry and baking classes to all levels of bakers, whether you’ve never measured a cup of flour or you’ve already mastered macaron, as well as intensive workshops for industry professionals.

Born and raised in the D.C. metro area, Jossie graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in entrepreneurship. After years of testing out gourmet cupcake recipes on friends and family, Jossie followed her passion to France where she received formal pastry training at the Ecole Nationale Superieure de Patisserie in Yssingeaux.

Upon returning from France, Jossie worked in the pastry department for Clyde’s Restaurant Group in Rockville, MD. She moved to Charlotte, NC in 2013 to launch the pastry program at Heirloom Restaurant, and went on to develop the pastry programs at The Dunhill Hotel and Block & Grinder. Jossie founded Sweet Affairs, an artisanal wedding cake and dessert catering company in 2015, bringing the Charlotte community a truly unique dessert experience. In 2017, Jossie was named Pastry Chef of the Year by the North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association, and in 2021 was named one of the 50 Most Influential Women by the Mecklenburg Times.

Jossie also runs Sweet Spot Kitchen, an incubator for small scale entrepreneurial baking businesses. Since 2017, 32 businesses have rented kitchen space, with three growing enough to move into their own store fronts. She is passionate about supporting small businesses, and promoting community over competition.

Our summer camps have been helping kids gain skills that they can enjoy for the rest of their lives. Now, we’ve expanded our programming for younger cooks to include special classes year-round, even some that can be taken together with a parent. 2023 Summer Culinary Camp are posted now! Teen 3-Day Baking camps available online in early February. Our schedule is open again for Parent/Child and Parent/Teen classes to take together throughout the year.
