a m: Outstanding quality socks ! Most don't know just how important socks are in protecting your toes from getting strawberries across the top while scuba diving. These wonderful socks are defiantly the answer. I've only done 42 dives so far with Scubado Rag socks. They are defiantly much better quality than any others I've used over the years. These are not your cheaper chicken socks. Made in the USA :-) I'm not a fashion guy but have purchased several styles.

Lee Fowler: Great and knowledgeable people.. great prices..
Tom Dunaway: Took gear there to be serviced late last year. Got to destination and had equipment problems with the freshly serviced parts. Took it back to have it fixed and explained what needed fixing. They did a complete service instead of just fixing. Still cost over 300 again. Will not go back and recommend you don't either. They are always charging more than other shops I've gotten better service from. Also they must have used a small screwdriver to change batteries and chewed it up.Owner talks like he knows everything and other shops are not knowledgeable, but BS.Added:. They mangled the battery cover. Took a YEAR to respond? I stand by my review!
Michael Rice: RUN! This place is terrible. They do not care about teaching people, the owner is only concerned with how much he can charge you for equipment. We spent over $2500, still did not get the lessons we paid for. Ended up going to another shop and we are thrilled. Please don't waste your time and money.
Martha Page: When I went into Sink or Swim Scuba, I found MY local dive shop. Brent, the owner, had detailed answers to all of my questions about gear, and was genuinely interested in meeting my specific needs. I had purchased mask, snorkel, and fins from him two years ago and returned to purchase my regulator system and dive computer a couple of weeks ago. I am extremely happy with the level of service he, Russ, and Charity have already provided me, and I'm looking forward to going on dive trips to local quarries with them very soon. I'll expand on my review after we dive together, but for now, I rank Sink or Swim Scuba as A#1.
Sebrena Pearson: Very helpful, friendly staff.
Brian Zapata: The folks here have a very easy-going approach to learning to dive. My ten year old son and I recently finished the classroom/pool program and then went with Sink or Swim on our certification dive in Florida. There, we were able to see how other dive outfits operate and I can attest to the fact that Brent's approach is the way to go. Their gear recommendations are solid and the price comparable to other shops and online stores.
teri hufford: I recently went on my 5th trip with Brent from Sink or Swim. As I have come to expect, my trip was exceptional. Brent is professional, very concerned about safety, and just plain fun!
Ginger Brew: I’m so glad I came upon this class and instructor for so many reasons. First and foremost, you are guided by scuba instructor who cares so genuinely about your safety, has all the knowledge about appropriate gear and what is best suited for you individually, who wants you to have a great experience, and who will patiently guide you through any apprehensions you have about the sport. I came into this class with very little knowledge and have left knowing oodles more than I could’ve ever thought. I trust Brent Clevenger with my gear choices and training 110%... he will not lead you astray, I promise. And the bonus is that he’s done thousands of dives all over the world, so he gives perfect outlines of how a dive should go, what you will see, and what you need to make it great and safe!
Courtney Long: The people at Sink or Swim are so nice and knowledgeable. Brent is awesome and helped us get certified and was there for us every step of the way. He knows his stuff!
Walt Hamrick: Excellent environment , great training experience in the classroom and in the water I recommend if you want to scuba dive Sink or Swim Scuba is the place to go 😊 plan on further my scuba progression with them love it
Justin Hamrick: Very helpful and worked with my schedule. I’m very happy with the gear he recommended!
Jeff Moen: Great dive shop. Very knowledgeable but practical diving instruction and advice. Will certainly be doing future dives with Sink or Swim Scuba!
D Davis: My son & I used a Groupon to take lessons together. There were a couple costs we didn't expect with just the groupon, but we went on with lessons and recently got our certification. We have purchased a lot of our equipment, and can still enjoy dives with the shop and staff though we're no longer students. We are looking forward to our first ocean dive, and love our newest hobby.
David Newton: First I want to thank everyone that had a hand in my scuba training, very great group to work with! Mr. Clevenger is a very knowledgeable instructor, and has helped me, and is still helping peruse my career in commercial diving! I recommend sink or swim scuba to anyone who wants or needs dive info, gear, or training.
Giedre Biskyte: I normally don't post these sort of reviews but I feel like the behavior of Mr. Clevenger and Sink or Swim Scuba leaves me no alternative. I purchased a groupon so I could learn to scuba dive at a price that seemed affordable. The groupon clearly states that it is for certification and there is no mention of any other fees or charges. When I arrived for my first class, they immediately pressured me into paying an additional $120 for coursework. There was no mention of this whatsoever in the groupon. I succumbed to this pressure tactic and paid the $120. Unfortunately, this was just the beginning of the surprising extra fees that were not mentioned on his advertisement. They then told me there would be more extra charges for checkout dives in a rock quarry but that b/c of the cold weather we should just go on their Florida dive trip since it would be warmer. I'm a single mother with limited funds and had I know it was going to cost this much, I would never have purchased the groupon. I can't afford all these extra costs nor would I want to go on a dive trip with strangers and leave my daughter for such a trip. When I tried to get reimbursed by Mr. Clevenger, he refused and said he would only give me a store credit. What would I do with a store credit to a scuba diving shop when I'm not even certified to scuba dive? I would advise anyone who considers patronizing this business to be very careful and to also know that the groupon advertisement is very misleading in my opinion.
Clayton Celander: Great place to learn how to dive. Brent is extremely helpful and wants everybody to succeed.
Robert Burr: Words cannot describe how thankful I am to Brent and Sink or Swim Scuba, he went out of his way for to get certified in time for our Mexico trip. I got out of sync with my certification class due to work and it got down to the last minute to do my pool work and checkout dive. He really worked with me and went to the quarry on the last weekend before we left,( I am fairly sure he didn't have one scheduled that weekend. ) Well thanks to Brent it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life, 7 dives including a diving in a cenote and a night dive. The whole process has been fantastic and I am completely hooked. Brent is passionate about his craft and is very encouraging to those who show interest in learning.
Leam Hall: I have been one of Brent's customers for several years. My recent shopping experience was typical; I contacted him for a part other dive shops couldn't get. In less than a day he had one set aside for me. My part was in the mail and being tracked the same day I paid for it. Very happy customer!
Andrew Lee: Sink of Swim Scuba in Gastonia, NC is a scam business run by a brash, abusive owner, Brent Clevenger. I had a horrible experience and want to share my experience with everyone. Between my girlfriend and I, we have committed over $1,000 to get scuba certified, and because of Sink or Swim, we have NOTHING to show for it.Everything was fine until we were scheduled to go on our open water dive. Brent called and asked me to come by the shop to inspect my dive equipment. I scheduled an appointment and came in the day before, and Brent insisted I couldn't go and refused to inspect my equipment. Mind you, his business partner and my instructor, Allan, had already spent an entire day with me diving to 20 ft with the same equipment in a pool. Regardless, his issue came down to the fact that I purchased roughly half my equipment from another store because I was going to Hawai'i.When I asked about our agreement, he told me I had to leave his store. When I was glancing at the advertisement that he has on the stoor door that explicitly states you can purchase equipment from anywhere else, he YELLED "leave" at the top of his lungs with 4 other people in the store. I have no idea what compelled him to act so childishly. Completely uncalled for and absolutely insane.
Dallas Norris: Brent runs a great shop, and is a very understanding dive instructor. In the event you are having issues with the training he takes the time to go back one on one with you to make sure that you are comfortable diving. My finance was really scared of diving, but now is a better diver than I am thanks to all of Brent's help.Prices match or are lower that what is found online, and he is able to service most items in the store. When looking for a dive shop you should seriously consider here being the only place you need to go. There are 3 dive shops closer to my home, and yet this is the only place I go to.
Mirza Rustemov: Great guy and willing to explain the difference between gear

crash lakeside: Worst dive shop I've ever been to.unwilling to help ..unprofessional. After 35 years of having a blast in every dive shop I've ever been to I'll never go to this one again. Charlotte dive community is small. I'll enjoy Is generously supporting your competitors.
R M: Great, fast service by Randy. I had 2 Oceanic dive computers batteries replaced and only took a few minutes. The dive shop is well stocked with plenty of dive gear.
Ramona Moore: Success!! My friend got a skin and booties! Fancy! The worker bee was very informative and matter of fact!
Zhixuan Ren: Professional instructors, good service and great products! ! Highly recommended if anyone wants to get their scuba diving certificated or wants to join a diving tour.
Christopher Jenkins: Got my scuba certification from xplore scuba and the associated dive masters. Been with the dive shop for 3 years now. Couldn't be more happier with my experiences.
Ivan Artsiomenka: Awesome experience. Randy and other stuff extremely positive and helpful
Brian Howell: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value
N S: Randy, Bob, Bobb, Mike, Emily, Walter, and the entire Xplore Scuba crew (including Abby!) are fabulous! After doing two Try Scuba/ Discover Scuba classes while on vacation over the past few years, I knew I wanted to try getting certified. I did a Try Scuba with Xplore Scuba to see if the shop and I would be a good fit, and it was such a fun experience- I knew I wanted to get certified through this shop. All of the instructors are incredibly well-trained, patient, safety-oriented, and thoughtful- they want their students to succeed but want to make sure that we learn all of the skills correctly as well, and that is a perfect combination to me. They are happy to take the time to answer any and all questions about diving no matter how small, to review and perfect skills as much as is needed, and to make sure that the students are comfortable at all times. I witnessed interactions with students of all ages, from 10 to 60+, and invariably they appeared to be positive (the big smiles on faces at the end of class are always a dead giveaway). Xplore Scuba is an SSI affiliated training center, one of the big international agencies along with PADI, SDI, and a few others. I chose SSI because of their impeccable training standards combined with their flexibility- if a student needs to work on a specific skill for a while longer, it does not keep them from learning additional skills during classes before they master the first (some other agencies require skills to be mastered in a specific order before moving on). Randy (owner) really worked with me to make sure I had correctly fitting gear, but also understood budget limitations. It was so refreshing not to feel pressured about making purchases above and beyond what is required for certification unless/ until I initiated the conversation. They also worked closely with me to fit classes into my schedule and help me reach my checkout dive goals. I just completed my Open Water certification, and I can't wait to take the specialty classes they offer to help me become an even better diver- and to start exploring underwater.
Jody A. Smith: Randy and team are very well experienced and knowledgeable. My son (10 yo) and I took the Try Scuba class and ended up signing up for lessons. Randy is super patient with my son and does a great job training to my sons level.
kyaw htet kyi: Bad customer experience. I called ahead on the phone to confirm a group of friends coming to try out Groupon deal on Saturday at 3pm. We arrived there and was told that they don't have an instructor available. The girl on the phone could have called me back if that is the case instead of wasting all of our time in getting there.
Rob Floyd: Great guys here. They are knowledgeable but fun loving. Highly recommend.
Karen Adams: My kids participated in the try scuba class (10&15) both had a great experience! Staff was welcoming, safety minded, and educational. The try scuba class led to scuba lessons for the whole family. It was a great experience! Lee is an excellent instructor and worked very well with all ages and skill levels in the family! I would definitely recommend Xplore Scuba!!
Kenneth Marenco: Very friendly and helpful instructors. I went in for an intro class (no prior experience) and enjoyed it!
William Worley: I recommend learning how to scuba dive! it's really fun and an awesome adventure! The instructors are really friendly! And most of all you're in a safe environment!
Jessica McGill: Great staff with experience in all types of diving that provide extensive training and fait pricing.
George Bohle: Can't thank the crew at Xplore Scuba enough. I've been diving for 15 years and they gave me a great refresher and did an honest assessment of my gear. They also trained my new dive buddy, my girlfriend. They worked through her issues and after our first solo last week, she looks like a pro and feels comfortable in the water. Job well done!
Heath Vamp: Wonderful place!!!
Natalie Potter: If you are looking for a place that will treat you like you matter, than you have found it. We checked out several shops before signing up with this one. We wanted a place that we could build a relationship with and not just a retail store. We got everything that we were looking for and more. I got the individual lessons and it was worth every penny. I highly recommend them especially if you are like me and a bit intimidated by the sport.
Robert Red (Zeffer): The staff is super helpful, knowledgable, and hard working. The owner, Randy is on point! You have a question or need help, he's your man. There are other closer shops, but they are my go to. High suggest checking them out!
Tyler Boyd: Awesome shop! Within in my first purchase the store owner himself said welcome to the Xplore Dive Shop Family. These guys know there stuff and make diving fun and safe. They teach you at your own pace be it dive lessons too dive gear, they put their best foot forward to meet your needs. I have and will continue to refers friends and family to this shop because, I know they are in good hands.
Fran Stacks: I cannot think of anyone through whom I would have rather gotten my scuba certification. The professionalism, patience, support and excitement is contagious and my husband and I are looking forward to adding to our certifications with this awesome crew. We now count ourselves very fortunate to be adopted into this family and they truly do make you feel like family!Coming from someone who tried to get certified before and had a hard time, this crew had me at ease from the word, "Go." I couldn't ask for better people to not only get certified with but we're looking forward to some very fun trips together now too!Awesome experience and I can't recommend them highly enough!
