Novant Health Endocrinology - Midtown: what do users think?
Justin Smith: I dread dealing with this office. They always screw up my prescriptions and are just absolutely unpleasant to deal with in person or over the phone.
Alicia Ellis: Calondra is amazing! She has gone above and beyond to help me manage diabetes and in pregnancy it has been tough! So glad to have her as apart of my team.
Helena Kopczynski: After getting my thyroid ultrasound, I tried to get Dr. Muppavarapu to fully explain my results and why she suggests surgery vs taking meds to see her every 3 months. After numerous emails and two voicemails from her to call, she now wants me to make another office visit!! I still got no answer. She could have explained herself in an email instead of this back and forth. What other doctor does this? Totally unacceptable. Will never recommend this practice! she also put in my patient file that I was non-compliant (I did not go see her exactly 3 months like she wanted to... Novant messed up my billing, charged me for a co pay when they shouldn't have!) If anyone is non-compliant, it would be her for NOT giving me important information on my health so I can decide whether to proceed with surgery or not!!!
Beverly Gainey-McKinney: DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH PALADUGA SHE COULD CARE LESS
A Thompson: I personally like Dr. Sturdivant, very pleased with her services, but that front office staff....very unprofessional. My interaction with Gloria was less than pleasant. A patient asking for clarification on questions shouldn't result in getting an attitude and frustration.
wintermintleaf: my endocrinologist is a very nice person and i end each appointment in a good mood which i think is awesome, but like i'm trans mtf and i got misgendered by two of the nurses on my most recent appointment despite having my gender stuff on file with you all : whoever responds to the reviews you can do something about that right?
Melissa Needham: Worst doctor I have ever been seen by. I was told I needed an MRI; when asked what the process was they told me to find my own provider. Went in for MRI was told that the results would be immediately available to the endocrinologist. Upon emailing the doctor to let her know that I had gone in for my MRI and asked to make sure she had the results or if not what I needed to do to get her the results. I was emailed back "no I don't have the results." With no further feedback given about what I needed to do next. I followed up to again ask what I can do to get my doctor the information she needed. I never got a response.I had a scheduled appointment so went in. Waited for 1 hour to see the doctor. When the doctor finally came in she told me that she didn't have the information needed to diagnose. I went on to ask why she didn't reach out and get the information she needed before, knowing that I had already gone in for my MRI? At that point she became defensive and told me I could been seen by a different provider if I was unhappy with her care. I asked her to reach out to the MRI provider to get what she needed in order to figure out treatment. I waited 3 additional hours for her to get that information. Was asked 3 times by nurses if my appointment was complete. After the doctor finally came back in she pointed to a sheet of paper and said these are your results. With no sympathy, no explanation, and no discussion about what the treatment plan would entail.Additional follow up appointments have been less than ideal with her putting decisions as to what medications to take on me to decide.
Christopher Needham: Worst doctor experience of my life. Terrible communication, rude doctor, no concern for people worried about their medical issues, expensive, untrustworthy.Waited over an hour in waiting room after my appointment time and got no updates. Receptionist felt bad but “hadn’t heard anything back”. She finally went back and a temporary nurse came out to bring into a room for another hour before being seen.Took 4 hours total to look at MRI results. Doctor Said I can’t look at the MRI without a report. As a patient who never had to do this process before nobody gave any instructions or offered to help after many appointments and hundreds of dollars and fear over what’s medically wrong. Even sent an email before the visit to make sure they’d have everything and got a short useless reply.Doctor had terrible attitude and didn’t communicate anything. I had to ask what is next? What is my treatment? And every other question so I’d know what to do next.Left in room without communicating I could check out.
Tamara Johnson: Easily accessed. Has a parking garage.
soraya white: So I saw a PA as a new patient. Loved the experience. She even tried to locate an ultrasound so wouldn't have to schedule a separate appt to get my thyroid checked. I left feeling listened to and hopeful. The blood draw was weird and i realized later bruised me but okay. Test Results come back Vitamn D deficiency but everything else in normal range. She said prescribing D2 50000 units. Cool but also i have questions about the results vs my real life. No prescription called in. Had to call twice to get that in and no response to questions. I then get a call either days after or the next week after from an assistant tellling me that the PA wants to switch me to a DR. No explanation of why. But also schedule an ultrasound. Mind you since initial contact and first appt, everyone i have talked to has been very short with me. Not rude but just missing something. Ultrasound at different office, great. Results same day. Hey ive got two concerning nodules. Possibly cancer? I dont know because i didnt hear back from the office for over a week after i got the test results, despite multiple calls after giving them a few days to review. Finally called again not the PA. And these assistance were even shorter with me. So now ive got a FNA for one nodule and ignoring a parathyroid Andeonma, why i dont know and they cancelled my other appt but this guy doing the FNA may or may not follow up with me. I am so confused and bothered that this appt is a month after the ultrasound. And i dont know who my Doctor is at this point. So in short, great face to face. Weak in follow up and contact when not in office. Phone contacts are borderline rude and dismissive.
Caroline Witt: After being referred to Novant Endocrinology by my Novant primary care physician for further testing that my PCP does not do at their office I was told that this practice “does not diagnose, only treat endocrine disorders”. How am I supposed to be diagnosed with an endocrine disorder if I cannot get the necessary blood work to come to a diagnosis? This is poor practice at best. Very disappointed in Novant for this.
Heart Cali: My Novant primary doctor sent a referral to this endocrinology office for me on 10/8/2020.This office finally reached out to me today, 11/2/2020.
Caitlyn belk: The nurses were so kind to my daughter, she has very deep veins and it is hard to find one to get a blood sample. The ladies were so patient and gentle to make my daughter as comfortable as possible.
Patrick Laurie: Calondra Sheppard is a very attentive, informative and easy to talk with Endocrinology PA.
Becky Chappell: So after being a patient since 2005 at this facility I was told by the operator no less, that I was no longer a patient of theirs. My doctor had posted necessary tests to be done in March concerning a various serious condition, and they have now been removed from my chart. Thus, preventing whoever is to be my next provider, access to what needs to be done. Oh how I wish for the attitude of back when Dr. Kleinmann was there was still prevalent at this establishment.
Coleman Marchin: Until recently I have been satisfied with my care at Novant Endocrinology. I am not sure if they are having staffing issues or what, but the lack of attentiveness to requests is flat out irresponsible. I had to harass office staff just to get a call back because Novant can't answer a request for a prescription refill. My request was submitted in July 2019 and I wasn't called back until September 26, 2019. All prescription requests had gone through the proper channels to no response. This is absolute incompetence to the highest degree. I will be seeking medical care from another clinic.
michael castronova: This place is a joke . I was sent here by my doctor. I took of work for the appointment that took 3 months to get . When I made the appointment I specifically asked the lady if I had to get blood work again she said you will not . When I got there after waiting for a long time I sow two different people never a doctor only to tell me I needed blood work . I refused and left . At the end of the day all they wanted was money money money .place is a joke
Kenneth Hancock: I would leave a zero if I could. The PA that I waited 6 weeks to see called in sick and I didn't get the call until an hour before the appointment. I took a half day off work to see her. If the patient doesn't give 24 hour notice we get charged. Do you think I will be reimbursed for my time?
Ariel Anderson: Elaine Mejia, NP is a very awesome person .!!!!! Since meeting her a few months ago she has really been attentive to my medical needs when it comes to my Type 1 Diabetes and Insulin and Diet Habits. I am happy to say because of her and her staff , I will be back on the pump in less than 2 Months from now . I truly thank her from the bottom of my heart for being an highly true example of what Remarkable People , Remarkable Medicine are !!!!
Tamela Riggs: I was very skeptical about visiting this office after reading all the negative reviews but I decided not to allow the judgement of others dictate my experience. This office staff was nothing less than courteous and professional. I was very impressed with the level of professionalism, knowledge and kindness of the staff. They spent about 45 minutes talking with me. I wasn’t rushed as you are at most offices. There is even a notice on the front desk that if your experience is anything less than courteous or professional to call the number provided. Either way, this was a positive experience for me. Keep up the good work!
Will Stratman: This team has been great. A lot of people on here clearly are taking their frustration of dealing with the medical world and insurance confusion out on these folks. I have been blown away by the response time and willingness to help from each member of this team. Their use of notification systems and messaging has made communicating and rescheduling appointments when necessary a breeze. Their staff is knowledgeable and professional as well. Highly recommended.

Dr. Adam F. Spitz, MD: what do users think?
Ashley Burch: Honestly, the most enjoyable doctors visit I have had in a long time. First time meeting Dr. Spitz and his staff (especially Wren - like the bird), they were all extremely personable. It was refreshing to go to an appointment and feel heard, and not rushed out. Dr. Spitz was very knowledgeable and explained things in a way that made sense and put me at ease. His recommendations made sense and I truly feel he cares about taking the right approach to treatment, he recommended an MRI but told me we could test my latest blood results first to potentially avoid the MRI. Overall, I walked out feeling better than worse about all my hormones being out of whack and that I was in good hands. Thank you for your patience with all my questions. It was much appreciated.
Diva_doll_nik_e: I love dr freese but whoever answers the phone is extremely short and rude. It's definitely a newer employee because ive never dealt with this before. It's a shame. All I did was call to release my lab work and the lady literally hung up on me as I was trying to thank her and say goodbye.
Flavia Vazquez: Worst experience ever! Not only rude, I felt discriminated. His only solution for me was surgery and he never wanted to receive me.
Victoria (M'Lady V): Dr.Spitz is very meticulous, he cares about your well being! Wren is awesome! Very caring. Staff is polite & helpful.
Crystal Starr: I have had horrible experiences with Drs but this narcissistic joke of a endocrinologist takes cake.He came highly recommended, in my opinion he needs to turn his medical license into the board and become a hobbit. He completely dismissed my husband’s symptoms. He already had his mind made up with what his issue was. He stated to my husband that he knew exactly what was wrong “It’s even a board question” Jesus, if it’s a board question it must be true. Arrogance at its best. From an Ethics standpoint, he is completely unethical.I wouldn’t recommend this doctor to treat my dead animal.
Verne Phifer: I’ve been seeing Dr. Spitz for two years or more concerning my diabetes. During that time Dr. Spitz has always shown me respect and constant professionalism. Mark my words, he will take care of you or your love ones and give you the best care and best options for your needs. He and his team are great and he always makes himself available to his patients no matter what day it is. You will not be disappointed if you give them a try.
Betsy Williamson: Dr. Spitz is a good listener, who inspires confidence and calmness in his patients. He can explain complicated terms in a way that is easy to understand.
Warrennette Sharpe-Walker: The very moment that I met with Dr. Spitz I felt that this time new coach new game time. With a new direction, new out look on life style.
Elizabeth Mateus: Dr Spitz is a great doctor, very knowledgable and very professional.I have been his patient for over 15 years, although I moved to Texas, I travel to Charlotte for my rutine checkups.

Novant Health South Charlotte Endocrinology: what do users think?
Jeff S.: Have always received great tailored care.
Lynn Jones: Hugely disappointed with communication here and efforts to get an appointment in spite of several referrals from our nephrologist.
Anastasia Giannatos: Dr. Narasimhan is a wonderful doctor and also a very nice person .He makes you feel comfortable and he takes his time to answer all your questions you may have and also he tells you as it is and that’s what I like .I trust him and I highly recommend him to others .His stuff are very friendly and knowledgeable as well !
Lorenza Carr: Love my Doctor Kanakasabai Narasimhan, his manners and consideration make me feel secure and relaxed. Great Staff and Lab Nurse Ms. Andrea.
Maria Vicareo: I feel confident in the care and was treated professionally and pleasantly.
Mina Levin Neugass: Was very pleased with the staff and with Dr. Jaju. I found them to be kind and patient with me. I had a lot of questions to ask the doctor and she also was open and willing to take time to answer my questions. I realize that many times they have a short time with each patient, but I'm dealing with a lot of physical challenges and I'm looking for answers. I found that she was very thorough and very thoughtful and attentive. I like this office very much. All right
John Lewis: From Mrs. Lewis: LOVE DR. NARASIMHAN! Because of him I have a better quality of life. But no matter how many times I wrote to Novant over the years, nothing is ever done about the lack of handicapped parking in that lot. I have to go an hour before my appointment and wait then fight for a handicapped spot. Many elderly people go to that medical building and hardly any handicapped spots available? Grocery stores have more! PLEASE get them to put in a lot more handicapped spaces.
Michelle M: Dr. Narasimhan is a wonderful doctor and person. I trusted him so much that I recommended him to my mother! He is patient and explains everything clearly. I never leave his office with questions unanswered.
Pam Hoadley: Dr. Narasimhan is a fantastic doctor - he is very personable and I appreciate his personalized approach to my specific issues. I feel very confident in his care.
blessin x: The doctor was the best he showed his concerns You know like most doctors if I don't care He was excellent the staff was too
Melissa Nelson: I have an underactive thyroid that I’ve had for many years. After my family and I relocated to the Charlotte area from across the country, I had to find a new endocrinologist in the area. The doctor I saw for years back in my previous state was amazing. She was always very receptive to letting me try the medications I wanted and would recommend natural dietary changes to help improve my overall health. My experience at this Novant South Charlotte Endocrinology place was not remotely the same. Dr. Narasimhan REFUSED to prescribe any of the thyroid medications I had previously been on with success (NP Thyroid, Naturethroid). He didn’t like that it had pig hormones or something to that effect, but I never did well on Levothyroxine or Synthroid. Needless to say, I ended up gaining a bunch of weight and feel like I was not doing well on the meds he prescribed me. He said I would need to go elsewhere if I wanted to get prescriptions for the medication I preferred, so that’s exactly what I did. Screw this place. I switched to a doctor much closer to me that was open to prescribing the medication I prefer. I’m not a doctor but it’s my body and I should be allowed to take the medication that works best for me! I’ve since lost over 20 pounds since switching offices and medication and feel so much better. I would not recommend this endocrinology office and would definitely not recommend the doctor I had been seeing. I’m in the process of switching my kids from the Novant pediatric office they’re in as well.
Brenda Rorie: Everyone in this office is welcoming and makes you feel valued. I am never feeling rushed or unappreciated. The doctor is open to talk with you about your concerns in his health field.
margaret boyle: Dr. Narasimhan is very pleasant and positive about my care. I feel comfortable with him and trust him.
Carol Adkins: Dr & staff were very caring today at first appt. He listened & explained things well. Hoping for good results. Did not feel rushed thru.
Shirley Terwilliger: very good and professional felt very at ease the Dr. was very good at explaining. Staff was very good.
David Lewkowicz: Word's can not explain the frustration I had with trying to get an appointment here. I was being referred by my Neurologist at the Mayo Clinic in Florida because of some blood work that came back and had some thyroid levels highs. So that I didn't have to fly back down to Florida they offered to refer me to one of my choice in NC. After reviewing and finding SC Endo, Mayo sent the referral. I had to make 8 phone calls to find out what was going on. Each time I was promised a call back and never got it. After finally speaking to the referral person they said they sent the referral back to Mayo saying that they needed the referral to say thyroid issues even though the cover page of the referral said it was for an Endo and had the blood work with the high levels attached. This process was a total waste of time and it wasn't until the referral person said she would take it back to the doctor and have him review it again and then asked me to call back the next day that I said no. I'm doing calling and wasting my time and I can tell that this doctor doesn't care at all. I said I'll go back to the Mayo Clinic for care and will give my feedback online. 20 mins later I get a phone call with questions from the doctor and then a day later saying that the referral was wrong and that he wouldn't see me. A complete waste of my time.Already had the Endo at Mayo order blood work testing to be done. If the one of the best research hospitals in the country says something needs to be looked into, then as self care we have to do that. So sad that this doctor and SC Endo didn't care to look into it at all. It's really sad how bad our medical care in the US has gotten in some areas.
Curtis DeYoung: Outstanding care from Nurse Practitioner Tamara Marshall. I would highly recommend her for diabetes care to anyone. Very professional and competent.
Gail Escarcida: Great staff,
Inessa Bilak: Dr. Kanakasabai Narasimhan not a good doctor! Seen him more than 3 times and he can care less about me or my health. He just walks in says hi and types on the computer the whole time and maybe asks one question which this time was so do you excersice? I was asking if he could do any tests at all on my own, he offered nothing, and said he couldn’t even help me with my thyroid nodule because of insurance policies. This was the reason I came in the office to get an ultra sound on my thyroid nodule and his staff could have told me over the phone that my insurance will not cover it at this facility but the hospital? Waste of time, waste of money for the appointment. All he seems to care about is money not the person or their health. I do not recommend anyone ever going to him.
Jan Brown: Doctor and staff were kind and personable.
Linda C: Excellent doctor.

Lisa Durham Houchin, MD: what do users think?
c rub: The front desk staff is awful. Such a shame because the Dr. is wonderful. Rude, unfriendly front staff that should not have a job like that for first point of contact. Will be switching Dr.'s
Nancy Williams: My son has type 1 diabetes. She has helped us to understand his disease and work with us to try and keep it controlled. She is kind and patient.
LaPorsha Schifano: Dr. Houchin was great with my 4 year old Daughter. She really is knowledgeable and tries to get to the root of the problem.
Scott Wil: Dr. Lisa Houchin used to be my endocrinologist when I had endocrine problems. Started seeing her when I was 4’ 08”, now at 6’ tall thanks to growth hormones. She specializes in pediatric and adult endocrinology and I believe hyperthyroidism (even though I don’t suffer from it.)
April Bouchard: Meszecheck sees my daughter and hes amazing very compationate and understanding definitely recommend this man
XMONOXIDE X: dose not recommend overdoses her patients
Amy- C: We have been seeing Dr. Houchin since our son was 8 weeks old ... for his thyroid...he is 10 now and we still see her. She is phenomenal! Patient, kind, compassionate and very caring! It is apparent she was meant to be a Physician. I highly recommend her.

Dr. David A. Brantley, MD: what do users think?
Suzanne Lynn: I have gone to Dr Brantley for years. Not sure what Annette N is talking about. He is running several tests on me now. I have Hashimotos and since I have some newer symptoms he is testing my Cortisol, etc. He always takes labs for the things she mentioned. Maybe she had a different case but I see him every 6 months and the labs are standard. That is how he monitors our condition. He is also a kind soul and does listen...better than some who worry about that 15 minute time window. He cares!
Sheila Yalich: My husband is a patient of Dr. Brantley. He has been managing his healthcare for several years. He is an excellent physician and a very caring person.
Annette McIntyre: If you are seeking a specialist to treat your hypothyroidism, then he's your man, but if you're suffering with Hashimotos Disease and all of craziness, fog brain, weigh gain, insomnia, fatigue, aching joints, blurry vision, dry skin, losing hair, sleepiness, etc. Find a functional Doctor, one that will really listen and understand that you are human, but this is not normal. Test your revT3, antibodies, ECT, not just TSH, T4 AND MAYBE YOUR T3.

Atrium Health Endocrinology: what do users think?
Lessie Triplett: Wonderful staff and doctor.
Jeanine Elliott: This is Wesley Elliott not Jeanine I am the patient I am doing this the Dr stadium he has no bed side manners I will not go back to see anymore my wife is not a nurse or,a doctor and knows more than he does about endo
Jonathon Lynn: Great doctors and staff. A bit long to get an appointment but worth the wait.
Franklin Broome: Dr. Swapna is a great doctor!! I would highly recommend her. She talks with her patients and is one of the best Endocrinologists in Charlotte Nc.
Clean on Green: No follow up
Leola Blie-Green: A Blessing Everyone Was Very Professional
Mary Clark: Seeing Dr. Samatam for thyroid, and she has been great. Helping get me back on track after some changes to levels.
Bryce Hosseini: Wonderful and caring doctors, nurses, and staff. However, getting pharmacy & insurance issues resolved is always unreasonably difficult and time-consuming, requiring multiple phone calls even for vital prescriptions.
T. EILEEN E: I have been calling for three weeks ro follow up on a referral and no one can tell me if they have received the referral or not. They keep telling me to call back in a few days, that it may be in review. And in the meantime, the dr has confirmation of the referral being faxed. Horrible customer service! How hard is it to confirm whether or not you received the faxed referral??!!
