Extreme Ice Center: what do users think?
Robert Snyder: In Charlotte there is a big supply shortage in regards to hockey rinks. Please look at the other rink that teaches youth hockey before your come here. Yes this is a very nice rink. I am also sure its very successful financially so there is no real incentive for them to change anything. But their approach to youth hockey in my opion needs some changes. I wish there was more options for people who love hockey, maybe that would result in some changes at this place. This review is for anyone thinking of joining or trying out for this youth hockey program and is directed to owners and people running all the hockey programs at this rink. You are the ones in charge, you set the mission statement(is there one), policies , expectations, roles for the coaches.Hockey is a amazing sport and it should be developing players and fans who love it for their whole lifetime regardless of their skill level. Unfortunately, like many youth sports the people "teaching" it now or days think that coaching is playing general manager/personnel director with their players. Well its not. Your job should be to: teach skills, explain the game, let kids make mistakes and then help them learn from them. That is what youth sports is suppossed to be. Developing sport specific skills, leadership and self confidence. Kids can't learn if they are not given a chance to actually play. The goals at this rink seems to be teach some hockey(that's hit or miss with the coach you get) and win. That's as deep as it goes. If you have a elite hockey player or athelet this place might be a good fit. If your child does make a travel team, unless they are one of the better players, they will not play that much. And guess what if your kid does not play much do think he will get better(probably not). Do you think they will enjoy hockey and develop good self esteem? Probably not. Unfortunately the issues of coaches playing General Manager with playing time extends into the HOUSE LEAGUE here as well.I have no doubt this place is developing a few elite players as well as a handfull of good players but its also turning off/pushing away a bunch of people from the sport. Hopefully someone will read this and decided to make a change Unfortunately, there are not a lot of options when it comes to hockey in the Charlotte area. But at least check out your other choices before you entrust your young player to this place as you may do more harm than good coming here
Cel St.Pierre: 7-10-23: There have been some welcomed changes at Extreme Ice. Hockey Adult League management made some changes to Men's League teams, which placed the highest scoring/performing teams into next level competition teams👍🏼 The Tavern has a new manager, Adam, who is doing a great job of offering rotating food and beverage specials. Still loving the delicious regular menu items---wings, chicken tenders, fries (krinkle cut or fresh cut breaded), hand-held sandwiches. Continue to see The Puddle (small rink) rented for private parties or private skating practices. Continue to see hockey clubs holding championship games. Lots of unique activities scheduled for public skate nights. The Arcade is seeing some action. The ADA compliant elevator is up and running to provide assistance for patrons to gain access to the upstairs viewing areas, The Tavern and The Arcade.8-5-22: We continue to enjoy watching our son play hockey in the adult men's leagues at XI. The Center Ice Tavern, under new management by Rich, has really taken the Center IceTavern to a whole new level. Daily food and beverage specials reflect the gastronomical preferences of the players and local regulars. Rich, Adam, Anthony and the entire staff strive to make your Tavern experience a great one. The Tavern has a variety of menu options for adults and kids. There is a variety of soft drinks, beers (bottles, cans, draft), wine, seltzers, and a full bar. Check the website for the Center Ice Tavern menu for in-person dining or carryout. If you're at XI for public skate, go upstairs and check it out.2 yrs ago: Really great hockey venue! 2 full size rinks and "the puddle" (small rink available to rent for private events). Frequently visit to watch the Beer League games (fan of The Ogilthorpes). This weekend we came to experience the State Championship games. AWESOME EXPERIENCE!!! We also enjoyed the great food and beverage selections in the Center Ice Tavern. XI is implementing and practicing safe pandemic protocols 😷
Biswajit Mitra: Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Not sureMore
Nancy Mauro: Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Not sureMore
Greg Stell: Very nice establishment.Visited on Weekend …More
Tyler Madanski: I grew up playing hockey at this rink so it will always be top of my list. This rink by far the is best two sheet facility in the South. From the ice to the pro shop to the bar/restaurant upstairs, everything is top notch. Plenty of seating for games and things to keep everyone busy in between games. Come by and check it out yourself and even learn how to ice skate.
E. Co: Awesome place fully recommend 👌🏼
Tony Topoleski: A full service ice arena. Quality ice, food and beverages and spectator seating. Ample parking. Easy access of Rt. 74.Poor policy of closing ALL of the bleachers after 12:30pm to set up for private kids parties. Very inconvenient for fans watching their kids playing hockey. This is an Ice Skating Facility not a party place! Parents and their hockey playing kids might find a new place to skate if this continues.
Reid Cathcart: They were super busy when we visited, but staff were friendly and we had a great skate. If you're willing and able to stay a long time you really can get your money's worth, but you pay for entry during public skate, so a short visit is not a great bargain. They do a good job of keeping music playing and smoothing the ice only as much as necessary to keep it comfortable so you get mad skating time. They also have scooter / walker-type things for new skaters, and a restaurant for snacks, food, and drinks (just check the hours).
Jason Ellsberry: Such a great place to take the whole family. The tavern has delicious food and the hockey program has been our home for many years. I can’t say enough good things about this place.
Brian: Changing my review from a few years ago.Facilities: 5/5Adult hockey direction : 0/5Balance of adult hockey teams: 1/5Referees: 2/5Costs: 1/5
Rachel Davis: Can't say enough good things about extreme ice center. We've enjoyed ice skating as a family but often places are inaccessible or just too expensive to be able to go. Extreme Ice has fantastic prices for public skating for this area as well as for their classes and coaching. This last Christmas family received a gift of some skating lessons from Coach Tappie! This turned out to be a godsend. Not only is she an abundance of wisdom and experience but is apparently the exact person for lessons for special needs kiddos and skaters with physical disabilities or challenges. We have a connective tissue disorder among other things and her work with the kiddos was perfect for what they needed. Help to protect their joints, teach them safe ways to be able to fall and use their bodies on the ice that wouldn't cause damage, gave time for breaks when they were needed. It was a wonderful couple of days spent with her and I'd highly recommend her coaching. On top of that she helped get the kids into the Adaptive Skate Program so that they can now go enjoy the ice more often! Thank you so much Extreme Ice center. See you again soon.
Julia Metzger: Loved it! Great rink!
Jitender Bhati: Great facility for ice skating and ice hockey. Ice skating rink is well maintained. Good option for organizing kid’s birthday party here. The tavern inside is cool place too. Ice hockey area is great. Rates are good. You can rent the skating equipment
THOMAS DRESSLER: Prices too high.Bidenflation
Susana Crowders: Great experience, place is always clean and updated and staff is very helpful. Love that I dont have to seat in the cold to watch my kids skate.
CRISTINA CITA: funny place for children!!! The employees are friendly
Юрий Бучацкий: Хороший каток, много детей, инструкторы на чеку
ray ray: Great place to eat and catch HS hockey.
Stephanie Inch: Beautiful rinks. Nice restaurant overlooking the rinks. Plenty of seating. Large pro shop.
Graham P. Clark: Music is incredibly loud but check-in was a breeze and the ice was in great condition. Nice facility!

Winter Wonderland: what do users think?
Shondus Miller: The kids loved it can’t wait til it open this year🤗
Oscar Solo: No hay nada
Kenzie Marie: I really think it’s a great place but you need to pick your own trash up,recycle and like no one does it and I think recycling is kinda important it helps our environment but when people say the employees don’t do thereJob they do and you need to as well
George Johnston: Nasty, trash everywhere. Employees dont do their job
Diane Mobley: Good cold fun
Zach Drummond: Not a good place to skate for anyone. The ice was completely scratched up and they never cleaned or smoothed out the ice while we were there. This made skating very difficult, especially for beginners. The skates are also pretty terrible and seem cheap. This is a small rink and costs $17 to skate, including the skate rental.
Iris Mendoza: YOU NEED TO GO.... ITSGRATE
Jeff Kelley: Hey! Update your darn hours on Google! It says you're open but you are not. People plan their days and trips around this. Get with the times!
YourAverage LLAMA: I go here countless times each year and wish it was around longer, but of course it cant as charlotte is not really the coldest place. I think that the food is great and the treatment from employees is phenomenal, but I do have one request. When putting on your skates, you leave you shoes under the small benches, which worries a lot of people as they fear their shoes may be stolen. I think that small rentable lockers should be available to those who want them. A place to store your shoes and other belongings would be very useful for skaters and generate some money if you pay to rent them. Just my opinion, but overall it is a fantastic place for some family fun!
Timothy: Rink is small
Mike Ferretti: So much fun, can't wait to go back next winter.
Eloisa Murillo: Horrible worst experience the ice was melting nobody kept it clean it was hard to skate on and it was really unsafe skating on this ice.
Arturo Montenora: Fantastico for the entire family, lenty of parking
JC WALDROP: All should go
Mike McLester: Best spot for ice skating in town!
Candi Newton: We had a great time at the rink. My girls loved it and made wonderful memories!
Gigi Turner: I’m NOT impressed with this only because my family and I went to enjoy the event and it wasn’t even opened or set up (2 days after the advertised opening date). I was informed that it was too warm and to call... We called them...they asked for my email address and was told that we would receive a gift certificate or something. Needless to say, that never happened even after I called several times only to have my messages ignored....

Pineville Ice House: what do users think?
Tony Topoleski: Nice ice arena, but could use some more spectator seating on the main floor.Good snack bar. Fries are the best!2nd floor seating is OK and adds to the seating capacity. The new proshop is a quality addition.
Maggie Searcy: Worst ice my son has ever skated on! ice was all chopped in one part of the ice from a practice before and zamboni did an awful job. We have to get a new sharpening after everytime we skate here. do not recommend this rink to anyone. The rink Manager Matt is the worst. Overheard him bad mouthing players at their rink. do not come here
Samantha Pean: I loved my experience here. I purchased a pair of Jackson Mystiques. Christian was super helpful answering my many questions. He was knowledgeable about the products and skate care. Matt was a great help with explaining the products I may need just starting out and even set up my skate guards! It was a really inviting environment for beginners. Super friendly staff overall!! I also come for their public skate sessions and always have a great time!
Matthew Riggi: I’ve been playing adult hockey here for over 10 years. Family owned and the staff is great. It’s a great place to bring kids!
Clayton Prestridge: I am new to hockey and was looking for some guidance on where to play and what equipment to get. David at the pro shop is extremely friendly and helpful. He showed me what gear/sizes to get and was able to answer all my questions. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to play hockey in Charlotte!
Brittany Prestridge: My husband has recently had an itch to start playing hockey and we stopped in the Pro Shop to get a little information about all the gear and equipment that he will need. David was super helpful and we ended up leaving with all he needed to start his new hobby! They had a great variety of gear and provided additional services such as skate molding and blade sharpening. So glad we stopped in! Thank you for your wealth of knowledge, David!!
ANGELA OTALVARO: Perfecto plan para pasar en familia.
K B: I’ve never had a bad experience at the ice house before until last night this 1 star is for the girl named Jessica working at the bar/cafe lounge she was VERY RUDE & NASTY she had a very nasty attitude as soon as we walked in and was yelling several times to the kids and adults she was not nice at all! I did not like how disrespectful she was to the kids and adults I know it can be stressful dealing with alot of people at one time but that is no excuse to treat people rudely and as we were rudely made known that we had “6 mins until you have to get out” I spoke to the manager Austin & I’m hoping their will be some consequences for her actions because she obviously does not need to work in the front with people. Working in customer service for over 10+ years her attitude and the way she acted was very unacceptable she needs to learn the words “please & thank you” and how to control her emotions.
Emma Donnelly: Really nice staff, have been coming here for years. I love to come with siblings or with friends, and it's always a great time. Lots of people are here regularly, so be prepared for that. But otherwise, the price is great for what you get! Just $15 to skate around as long as you want, and their food and bar are really great, too.
Cinda Sawyer: Fun to watch the kids playing hockey
L e x i . W h i t e: Great place to go skate! Unfortunately, public skating times are only during the week now and are shorter. The rental skates are really nice for a public rink! The food is great, and the rate is good for unlimited skating! The bathrooms were clean. Definitely will be coming again soon, but I hope that they will adjust the time to give more time for public skating during the weekend.
Rock Sanders: My kids and I love this place and SARAH is great ( you got to love her)
Michael F.: Pro shop lacks good selection of goalie equipment. No goalie helmets. will have to look online to buy.
Ry Vega: I came here recently with my boyfriend and we had SO MUCH FUN! The atmosphere was incredible, they had fun music playing and dimmed the lights so it felt very intimate and cozy. The rental skates available were of good quality and fit well, and they had spaces to put your real shoes whole you skated. Definitely would come again!
S D: This rink closed down for a couple months and then when they reopened they increased their freestyle prices a whopping 40%. They used to offer 2.5 hrs of skating for $10 and now its $15 for 1.5 hrs. Back when they were so much cheaper to skate at than Extreme Ice I used to love this rink because it was a great deal. Now it hardly seems worth it to skate here when you can go to Extreme Ice and pay the same prices with way better accommodations and two ice surfaces. I feel like they really lost their local competitive edge with this huge and sudden price jump.
nl25c: I was there pouring concrete, they're building a whole new rink. So it should be really nice
Keylo Hollywood: Drove all the way here to see a sign that states they are closed until June 2022!! Update your website!! RIDICULOUS and a waste of our time!!!!!
Stephanie Inch: Great rink with small town charm. Would have given 5 stars if the skating guards would control some of the behaviors from some of the public skaters who were throwing footballs across the rink, doing tricks along the rails, skating in the wrong direction, and having no concern for other skaters. The price of public skate is comparable to other rinks. There is a Sports bar with typical bar-style food, which is actually pretty good. Sometimes seating is difficult, but if you are a spectator, the bar is a nice place to sit and stay warm.
Snerd Reynolds: Gary Shortland is a predatory coach. My work schedule changes from week to week and it was impossible to meet at the time Gary decided he wanted me to be available and I let him know this. After speaking to the head of figure skating, Gary said he would refund $100 of the $200 he still owed me back. He never sent it. You're supposed to be able to trust these people, and Gary outright lied to me. Don't trust this facility with your money because they skirt blame by saying the coaches are private contractors, which they are. But still nothing was done to get my refund to me even after I was told I'd get half back. Predatory rink. I cannot recommend. Accept some accountability for the people you let work at your facility.
vincent iannace: Enjoyed our time here for the Carolinas Spring Tournament. Great place for kids and parents to relax and enjoy some hockey.
Elizabeth Rydza: Would be great if there wasn’t a ton of teens just standing in huge groups and with no regard to safety or other people and the cut in and out in front of you and just stop or sit in the ice box and scream in your ears as you go by. And how about the staff in just a joke and the long lines just trying to get something to drink. The ring is very choppy and needs monitoring also keeping the safety of the skaters by keeping unsafe people that just group on the ice.

U.S. National Whitewater Center: what do users think?
Jennifer Clark: A fun place for everyone!! I enjoyed the walking trail. Nice shaded areas.
Morgan: It was a nice day and the facility is really neat, but from an adventure standpoint, I feel like I had my expectations set too high. It was my own fault for not doing more research and asking the right questions. Once you go white water rafting in nature, riding along a man-made course lasting less than an hour is not worth it.
L e x i . W h i t e: Great place for your family, but very expensive. Don't eat here, not worth the price.
lee huffstetler: Great day of family Fun
Joshua Camille: This is the best thing in Charlotte.
Melany Culp: Good Music
Liam Wnorowski-Santos: Highly recommended for the "River Jam" events in the summer. This place has immaculate vibes and makes me feel proud to be a North Carolinian!
Jesse Grady: This place is amazing
JC Alvarez: Awesome place to create memories specially for the family and kids, we had a great great day with our group of students, they have fun and overall a great learning experience. Recommended for any outdoor activities!!! Thank you for your hard work guys!
Shanyang: Great place to have some summer fun. We enjoyed the rafting activity very much with our raft guide Sierra.
Abu EliZak: Only used MTB activity pass although other stuff looked fun... Lots of great trails through woods, pretty well maintained, upgraded mountain bikes we're good quality with full suspension. Bikes could be better tuned and maintained but in good shape generally... happy and would use them again. Loved woods trail riding on N & S Main... would like to see big air jumps and more stuff like Slalom and Tower 93... with table jumps, etc...Appreciate free water refills outside restrooms....
Jennifer Conley: This place is a wonder to behold! I can hardly believe that it was man-made (well, except for the concrete). They had a great beer selection. The lines were long, but they moved quickly. It was truly beautiful! The MAJOR flaw is that the handicapped/stroller/wagon accessibility was CLEARLY an afterthought. After you find the elevator that is poorly marked. You have to walk/roll at least 10 times the distance that everyone else has to travel to get to EVERYTHING. We just had strollers, but if you're in a wheelchair, forget about it, do not come here. If you have small children, use a carrier. A stroller will not work unless you're trying to get your steps in. There are also no barriers to keep children from running into the rapidly rushing whitewater (a wagon is a great solution to this problem, but, again, a million mile hike is the cost of safety). If you're childless and do not require wheelchair access, this appears to be a fantastic place to explore.
Kimo Sabe: Great place for kids. Adult friendly. They serve BEER!
Sum Guy: What an awesome little hidden concert/festival venue. They only hold a few a year but the promoters are some heady wooks looking to gets down with the funk. Phenomenal acoustics on the stage right amongst the worlds largest manmade rapid center. I 3 PPPP
Jose Luis Vargas Mendoza: Una experiencia que debes atreverte a vivir ya sea en canopy o haciendo kayak
Helen Singletary: Always nice place to enjoy with Family and friends also our pets😊
Yale Levy: Amazing place to spend the day. Whitewater rafting, zip lines and ropes courses, mountain biking, etc.
Valerie Mena: This is my Happy Place!I have an annual pass and one of my favorite things to do there is spend the day hanging out on flatwater (the Catawba River) and alternating between stand up paddleboarding and kayaking. It's so relaxing and a great workout too! There is also whitewater rafting on a man-made course which offers different classes of rapids-- so there are raft trips suited for families as well as those adventurous types. For those looking for an extra thrill, check out "Big Water" which is offered late afternoon on Thursday and Friday. These trips have even higher class rapids and are sure to bring some excitement, but remember to book early as these fill up!For those not wanting to get wet, there are several ropes courses, a rock climbing wall, zip lines, and trails for hiking and mountain biking as well as restaurants and live music many evenings. They even offer several different style yoga classes, taught underneath a beautiful tree covered Pavillion and the best part is these classes are free, all levels, and open to everyone. This is a great place to walk around, explore, and people watch too...especially on any of their busy event days like Green River Revival, Flowfest, and Build your own Boat!I highly recommend this for anyone who likes to be outdoors and being active!Restrooms: The restrooms are very clean are scattered throughout the center. The main restroom offers 3 shower stalls as well.Dog-friendliness: Very dog-friendly location with lots of people bringing their dog for a walk
Jeff Smith: Great, clean venue!
Shelley Rogers: Love the music and atmosphere.
Robert Euton: Ian is the best guide Definitely a good time
