Eastwood Homes: what do users think?
Alina Ramos: I wanted to share what I wrote on their warranty review to show what a horrible experience it has been getting one thing fixed. It has been 8 months since the leak was identified and IT IS STILL NOT FIXED! I had a leak coming from the master bedroom that was identified in May 2022. I understand that the warranty specialist (Erik) has a lot of requests but it has taken extremely long for everything to get fixed, as it is still not finished and we are in January 2023. I also understand that it took a while to fully understand the issue, but fixing the issue after identifying it should not have taken 5 months. The project management of this work has been frustrating as it takes a long time to get workers scheduled. Sometimes when work is scheduled, I have not been notified and I am not able to let workers into the house. Workers are scheduled before they can actually do the work (example: getting painters scheduled before the drywall is complete). I am also surprised that specialists have not gone to the house after a contractor comes in to finish a piece of their work. This has made it so workers have to do multiple trips to get an area completed (example: drywall guy did not know that there was work to be done in the upstairs bathroom). I should not have to notify the specialist when the work in my house is complete. I've also noticed that the work has not been completed correctly in the first place, which leads to the same work having to be done twice and adds to the timeline. Contractors and their workers should be more informed about what work is being done at my house and I should not be the one telling workers/subcontractors what they are fixing at the house.
Briscoe Darling: I bought a new Eastwood Home in 2016 and would not do so again. In the first five years I have had to replace the air conditioning fan motor and condenser coil, the water heater expansion tank and kitchen disposal. Each of these items should last longer than five years. This is evidence of using the cheapest equipment possible. The electric wiring in the home is a mystery as well. I have a two basin master bath with a linen closet, a toilet closet and a walk-in closet all in the master bathroom area with ONE electrical outlet in this area…ONE! Yet within 10 feet radius in the kitchen there are 6 outlets. Within one year of purchase there was a crack the entire width of the driveway within two feet of the control joint. Again…shoddy workmanship. Buyer beware….
TheXman19: This is one of this best buying experience I've ever had. The attention to detail I've provided, kindness, and willingness to make sure my satisfaction is the top priority is second to none. I'd to give special thanks to Dale for the great job he's done to this a dream come true. Thanks Dale and Eastwood homes.
Shayla Davis: Laurie Zurick was my sales rep and Mykayla Rasmussen her assistant at the Dogwood community in Statesville, NC. The both had superb customer service initially. I made my deposit of $15,000 wire transfer but was unable to secure funding. Then the customer service became sub-par and pretty non-existent. I signed a release of funds on 8/30 and it is now 9/20 and no one can tell me where my money is. They are less and less responsive to my attempts to get information. I even began calling from my work phone as they were not answering my calls anymore. The next step is to visit the corporate office and start shaking some tables. Someone is going to give me answers about my $15k
Jessica Norman: Can I just tell you… I am in the early stages of home building with Eastwood, and the experience has been so smooth! Covid slowed things down, but here we are! I started with Elaine, who was wonderful, and understood my needs and concerns as a single mom. I am currently working with Ryan, and he has been so supportive and accommodating to me in answering all of my questions, and there have been many! Finally, I’ve never met her in person, but Amanda has been so kind as to keep me in the loop during these months of waiting. I couldn’t be happier!
Perry Somers: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueVery pleased with Eastwood. Quality employees, service, floorplan and value.
Peter Lopiano: Eastwood gets 3 stars because the floor plan is great, exactly what we were looking for and the sales process was very good. Colton was incredibly patient and took all the time we needed to answer our questions. Short of this, it would be a 1 star rating. Eastwood 100% over promises and under delivers on the build process. The root cause seems to be that Eastwood hires sub-par contractors, who do sub-par work, which Eastwood then fights diligently not to address. You, the home buyer, are relied upon to be the eyes and ears of Eastwood. On the bright side, almost every issue we discovered during the build process was addressed, but not without heated discussion. The first response to each inquiry is either, "that is done to plan", or" that is done to code." Often, neither is a true statement. We were eventually told by one Eastwood employee, "We are a production home builder, not a custom home builder." Deadlines are critical for bonuses to be paid. You will end up with a nice home if you are diligent throughout the build process. You must find the issues and insist that they be corrected immediately. Do not count on Eastwood's QI process to find and address issues.1. The framing was incorrect (done to plan). We were able to convince the builder that the framing was wring after several discussions and an inspection of the same model in another community. Builder thanked us for this.2. Safety pole in garage near water heater (done to code). Effectively turns garaged into a 1 and 1/2 car garage. Code says the safety pole is not required of gas line to water heater is 6 feet off the floor, which ours is. I will need to pay to have this removed since Eastwood will not discuss it.3. Porch light over front door not centered (done to plan). Corrected after much discussion. We asked for a review of the plan, since no plan ever calls for an off center light.4. Toilet in master water closet off center (done to code and plan). After much debate, this was corrected because it is neither to code or plan. Not fixed until after tile floor was laid so much cost and rework required to correct this.5. Trim work (done to plan). Because the framing is so sloppy, baseboard trim is sloppy. After much discussion and debate, these were mostly corrected. I have since walked through other homes under construction in our neighborhood. The framers use warped 2X4's, or straight 2x4's that are not lined up correctly, causing the dry wall to bulge and the trim to look amateurish.6. Grading/landscaping (done to plan). The yard was simply not graded properly. The area that should be the high point, is actually the low point and pools water. The builder states the landscaper used a laser to confirm the grade is correct. Two different Eastwood employees have walked the yard and confirmed it is poorly graded. One said this was the first time this landscaper was used and he had another yard to inspect with the same issue. Eastwood has stopped responding to requests to address this so it seems I will have to resolve this myself.7. Dishwasher broken when installed. We did not discover this until after closing and used the dishwasher. I put in a warranty request through Eastwood but was quickly told this is a manufacturer issue and I need to call them directly. Even though Eastwood broke it while installing it.8. Pendant light prewire (done to plan). When I removed the caps to install the lights, I discovered that the wires had not been stripped and prepped. I was told that is not within scope of plan. Our home is the only one I am aware of that this was out of scope. No further response from Eastwood.9. Plumbing. The house failed the plumbing inspection 3 times. The details on this were not shared.10. Laundry room cabinets. We received a call from the design center, after the dry wall was complete, that they had ordered the wrong cabinets for our laundry room. They were now ordering the correct cabinets and it would cost us an additional $750. Eastwood did make this right by ordering and installing the correct cabinets at no extra cost to us.
Mr monty: Critical:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueBuyers beware! Extremely poor quality, I have engineer report in hand to prove how poor!
Judy Leverette: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueMy experience with Eastwood Homes has been a pleasure. They were very hands on throughout the entire process. They made the steps to buying a home really smooth and easy. All of the staff to include the construction workers were willing to help with anything and in a timely manner. I would recommend them to my family and friends.
Charles Gefner: Critical:Quality,ValuePoor construction quality. House had a major leak in the walls caused major issues. My mom has been without a kitchen for over a month. Walls full of mold. Horrible customer service from a ginger who could care less and just brushed off everything. Terrible experience. What a huge waste of time.
adaora nwakalor: Positive:ValueI love working at Eastwood Homes. The management and staff care about your wellbeing, it's a place to call home. Value is placed on everyone.
C. Yancey: Beautiful homes! Great location! Just enough for single adult professionals. Great Sales Staff!
Emily Guzzio: I moved in Nov 1 2020. In January I noticed there were two cracks on either corner front side of my stove in the granite. These cracks went all the way through to the bottom and it’s obviously a pressure crack. Text messaged builder in January upon finding this he was going to contact the countertop people never did text builder again in February nothing... finally went to corporate in May and was completely blown off and said that I would Have to fix it myself. I was a very good client and spent a lot of money on this home and they wouldn’t even check this issue out and was pretty much like oh well too bad.. unbelievable treatment!!
Stephy P: We love the house and our neighborhood but the problem I have is we never had someone from eastwood follow up after moving in. Not only that, there were blue tape around the house and we were told they would touch up on some stuff which never happened. Painting here and there is not that great. Not the happiest as far at some of the job done inside.
winston green: Having the experience of building a house was very exciting. Our agent Tori Claude was a pleasure working with, he was pleasant and most helpful. The finished product is beautiful and state of the art, I would absolutely recommend Eastwood to anyone wishing to purchase a new home in North Carolina.
Paul Tittle: Great people
Grandma Curtis: We would recommend Eastwood Homes to our Family and Friends. What we would like you to know is David H. Is the BEST. If he promises you something he follows through and if he can not give you an answer right then(which he always has the answers) he will get back to you in a couple of hours but no longer then 24hrs. He sent us pictures of the building site as the process went along. He did this EVERYDAY. We give him all the Praise in the world and we hope you know how valuable he is. Also Drew and Jimmy both are wonderful folks to work with. We are completely satisfied with our new Home.Thank you too all of you at Eastwood Homes staff.
Scott Balderson: Brad and Mike have been wonderful to work with. Very professional and patient
RONALD KINNEY: Experience was good but stressful, this was my third home I have purchased. Buying a new build home was an event. After closing, getting appointments to correct issues are challlenging.
Valencia Hughes: I’m pleased with my home and the way it was built a few minor issues with HOA. Other than that Justin and Kelly were great.
Chris Pape: Their houses are so well built and so innovative in how new technologies were put in. Each of the developments they have look great but Daniel Farms is the best! The people I worked with were also great and helpful in making sure my wife and I understood the process of the whole house and what each part does. We're planning on living here for a LONG time to come.

Madison Homebuilders - Charlotte, NC: what do users think?
Dave Finley: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueI appreciated Madison acting as our GC. Great experience and love the results. I would recommend them to All.Services:General construction,Project management,Custom home design,Home building
Samantha Rickman: They work with Veterans! We haven't used Madison Homebuilders yet, we're still interviewing builders, but we just spoke with one of the team (Jeff) today and that man is one of the kindest men I've spoken with so far. He's kind, straight to the point, tells you how it is, cares about you, your home, your finances, etc. Some of the builders I've spoken with (especially modular home builders) have been super dismissive or uninterested in our questions or concerns. Not Jeff :) He seems to care and seems very motivated to help us (even if we don't end up using him)! Seems like a very trustworthy, southern, gentleman. I hope we end up going this route, just to get to continue working with someone like him.
Ava Myers: Ok, I didn’t want to write this review because it’s been almost 1 1/2 year since we moved to the house that Madison built for us. I could have written this review when the issue happened but we decided to just let it go but now that we are dealing with another problem because of the poor quality of the Construction/ system of Madison then I have no choice. First of, I want to say that our house is beautiful and we loved it but when we moved to our house there were a few issues that took over a month before it was resolved not to mention the VERY POOR communication from the Construction Supervisor Tim.1. The master’s bathroom tub- When we moved it still has that green covering on it and we were not able to use it immediately. It took over a month before the green thing came off.2. Touch up paint was not even done when we moved and basically took them 2 weeks finish the touch up.3. The metal vent downstairs was not fitted on the air condition vent so far a while there were just holes on the floor until the company came and have the correct metal vent.4. We moved in December and few mos after that we had a big Typhoon and our windows started leaking and it took Madison more than a week to send a guy to fix it.5. Door knobs and towel handles started falling and getting loose few mos after moving in.6. The septic smell coming from the bathroom has been a CONSTANT problem one year after we moved in. We had plumbers come out a few times,at first the plumber that they have sent said it was a stagnant water that was stuck in the pipe so we just had to run water every now & then to avoid the smell to come back but few mos have passed and the smell is back and since house is no longer on warranty we had to call a local plumber to check/ re-seal the toilet which cost $500 then again now we are dealing with it again so another plumber is coming out to do a smoke test which would cost $700. I do not think that an almost brand new house ( 2 yrs)should have problems with septic if it’s really done correctly. The NIGHTMARE from a subpar builder hiring subpar contractors is just endless. So if you’re trying to build a house DO NOT go with Madison.Add:After 3 mos. from the time I wrote this review until now there were NO warranty Manager or whatsoever that reached out to us to fix Septic smell issue. So I would still up yo this day would NEVER recommend Madison.Service:Custom home design
Rachel Mccorkle: I was trying to give Madison the benefit of the doubt when it came to correcting issues with our house but since it has been 9 months since we submitted our 1 year Warrenty claims with little to no communication it is clear they have no intentions on coming back to fix my house. We have quarter round that came completely off, the side piece on my island is hanging on by a thread, we have had two doors come off the hinges. One came completely off and almost fell on my children, both A/C units went out. One of our biggest issues is the fact that we have low water pressure which I am assuming is because a filter was never placed during the build. This is our first time with a well and we had no clue that was a thing until our neighbor told us. I am so disappointed in the way our house has been handled and wish at this point we would have chosen another builder.
None: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueI just closed on my beautiful home from Madison Homebuilders. The quality and communication was top notch and I've been referring everyone that's asked about my home. If you're looking for a team that cares and gets the job done professionally, Madison Homebuilder's the one!
Breona Lundy: We had the best experience with Madison homebuilders. From the very beginning they were honest and fair with me. We closed on our beautiful new home on Friday and couldn't be happier. Thank you Tim, Janice and Jimbo! Y'all made the whole process so fun and easy for me. I highly recommend Madison Homebuilders!!I am editing this to say that after we were in the home, we felt like we were forgotten about. Things that we pointed out that needed fixed while on the walk through on closing day, were never fixed. I could not get anyone to help me or barely reach back out to me and if they did reach back out to me they would tell me they would fix things that were never fixed. I couldn't even get the warranty companies help on many things. The couple things they did fix was sheetrock and painting at the end of the first year due to settling and fix holes in a bathtub (that I asked to have replaced but they only wanted to repair, twice.) Everything else, we were left to do on our own. Just thought it was fair to update my 5 stars to a 3 after having moved in. Now, as we are about to build another home and are looking for builders again, I thought it would be nice to give people a fair and updated review after having lived in the home for 4 years.
Holly McLester: We worked with Jeff, Dave and Janice. They were all wonderful! They handled all my freakouts and all my millions of questions even though I probably drove them crazy. We are loving our new Madison home. It was a long process but totally worth it in the end. We are super happy and glad we picked Madison. Thank you so much Jeff and Dave! You guys rock!!
Leeann Ruppe: We chose the Ryan model. Everyone went above and beyond to satisfy our request. Jeff helped us plan everything exactly how we wanted with several different options. Kevin the builder kept us informed every week and always answered or returned our calls. Janice our closing coordinator paved the way for a easy transition. We had the best experience that we could have hoped for. Thank you Madison Homebuilders for our beautiful mansion as my kids call it.Service:Home building
Marcus Misenheimer: Services:General construction,General repairs maintenancePositive:Professionalism
David Dellinger: Services:General construction,Garage design building,Design,Paint indoors,Repair water fixtures,Project management,Waterproofing,Exterior painting,Remodeling,Drywall installation,Plumbing fixture installation,Repair flooring,Drywall repair,FlooringPositive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,Value
Lance Reagan: Unhelpful, seemed disinterested.
Chris Greig: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueThey handled every step of the home building process, from paperwork with the city to the final stages of construction, quickly and professionally. Made the entire experience a pleasure and the finished product is perfect.Services:General construction,Tile work installation,Garage design building,Design,Fan installation,Project management,Plumbing fixture installation,Consultation,Flooring
Kristi Stone: thanks for thee job guys excellent work
Miranda Plyler: Critical:Professionalism,Punctuality
Travonia Davis: We used Madison Homebuilders to build our home in 2012. The building process was longer than expected and timelines were continously unmet. Within the first few days of moving in we noticed our home was not equipped for cable services. After calling Madison, we were told that WE requested phone jacks and cable outlets not be installed or that more than one outlet be placed in each room. This was 2012, so the "no cable movement" hadn't evolved quite yet. Out of pocket we paid for additional outlets as well as cable outlets. We had an issue with our septic tank and when Madison was contacted we were told it would not be covered because we used a person not affliated with Madison to install our septic tank. Septic tank guy comes back to inform us that it was not an issue with the septic tank but rather an improperly installed line by the plumbers that were associated with Madison. Madison Homebuilders did fix this situation. Our next issue was the heating and air system, this has been and continues to be a huge issue since we moved in. Madison Homebuilders incorrectly wired our A/C and heating system to where we would have to go to the basement to adjust the heating/air on the other floors in our home. They supposedly corrected the problem, sending someone to correctly wire the systems. All seemed well for a few months but multiple people, unrelated to Madison Homebuilders have come to fix various heating/air issues. I have addressed this with Madison but no one else was sent. I am just now writing this long review because we were recently told in order to correct the current issue we have with our heating/air systems we will need to remove our entire basement ceiling. Other issues from carpeting, electrical issues, plumbing issues, and constant a/c and heating issue have occurred over the last eight years. Kitchen floor is cheap and countertops are separating from the wall. I could go on and on about the issues with have had with Madison Homebuilders. This post only list a small number of things on a long list of complaints. Hopefully, those who have recently built with Madison Homebuilders will have better luck.
Aaron and Alexis Sowell: Very rude people
Rina Walk: Left msg with receptionist, no return call. Rep reached out with necessary information and good customer service. Was pleasant and helpful and genuinely concerned about my home building needs. Definitely worth a call or visit.
Kristen Richardson: Madison Homebuilders was great from start to finish. From the planning stages to construction and throughout, they we're flexible and allowed as many modifications as we needed. They allowed us to monitor the process and point out small issues as they arose, which saved us time in the end. No request was too much and our sales rep and construction super was always responsive usually immediately. I strongly suggest Madison Homebuilders for anyone looking to build a home. They are dependable and reputable.
Tara Giest: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness
Damon Lewis: We closed on our home May 8th 2020. Though the whole process Madison would answer any questions and help us understand the process. It took about 6 months from site meeting to close. I don't have any complaints about any of the contractors Madison used. The ones I met where polite and willing to help you if you had any questions about what they where doing. Kevin was our Superintendent and did an amazing job at getting things coordinated and finished. Jeff was our sales guy, he was easy to deal with but a really fast talker...lol you can tell he's sold a few of these homes. Sue and Janice helped us out a lot with questions about closing and questions about change orders really easy to talk to and very happy to help. We have lived in our house a little over a week now and we love it. We went with the Ryan plan and turned the formal living room into a 5th bedroom, since we have 4 boys we wanted them to have their own room. My wife loves the kitchen and I love the garage. If you go with the Ryan I would suggest doing the vaulted ceiling in the living room and the tray ceiling in the master bedroom, well worth the money and made a big difference in appearance. We are very pleased with our new home and look forward to many memories here!!
Brandon Castillo: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueGreat company that worked with us as first time home buyers and answered any questions we had.

Grande Custom Builders: what do users think?
Daniel Kennedy: Everything got done on time and to the best of our abilities. The flooring they put in really impressed us. When it comes to floors, they are really good at what they do. We strongly suggest!
Cantey Brown: We enjoyed our homebuilding experience with Grand Custom Builders. We chose John and his team among several quality custom homebuilders, and we very pleased with our decision. The project involved two new homes and a good bit of coordination which his team handled well. Grande also worked well with the project architect and interior designer - Jeff BrownService:Custom home design
Kelly Snell: Positive:Professionalism,ResponsivenessIn 2021 we purchased a home that was remodeled by Grande Custom Builders. John and his team have handled all of the warranty work with integrity, professionalism and proficiency. We appreciate their efforts on our behalf.Service:Remodeling
Lauren Rashford: We could not be more pleased with our beautiful home! John and the GCB team did an exceptional job from the beginning stages working with the architect, to the final walk through. They really brought our vision to life. The quality of their work is too notch. Additionally, they were able to get us in on time, despite all the constraints with supply chains/etc. Our neighbors frequently ask who built our home, as they appreciate the character and thoughtfulness GBC brought to life.Service:Custom home design
Roger Moore: I had an awesome experience with Grande and their team. Building a custom home is complicated and requires a ton of patience and their team did great. The home was delivered on time and on budget. Even some of the small things that needed fixing after the home was finished were attended to right away. Highly recommend.
P.J. Martin: My wife and I used GCB to build our custom home in 2016/2017. We are exceptionally pleased and impressed with the beauty of our home, and John and Jenna were extremely helpful around the architectural process, design choices and guiding us through our first home build. We enjoyed getting to know John throughout the build process and he continually treated us well and made us feel like a special client. CGB has also followed through on any issues that have arisen (even outside our punch/warranty period).Service:Project management
Dustin Crosby: John and the entire GCB team were fantastic to work with. From our initial consultation through the final walkthrough, John was part of the process and was able to use his experience in the trades to help us think through changes to our plan as well as design ideas. Even when we were unsure how some of his recommendations would look, once we saw the final product it was clear that he was the expert with the vision. GCB also fought like hell to ensure we were able to stay within our budget without sacrafice to the overall project. Our home is absolutely stunning. I have and would recommend them to anyone.
Ryan Sapel: We completed our custom home build with GCB about 18 months ago and absolutely love our home. It was very fulfilling working with John and his team to build our dream home. John brought great ideas and experience from his other builds that we used as inspiration for our home. We often get compliments from our neighbors on our house and they always ask who the builder was.
brian donehoo: Positive:ProfessionalismJohn and his team built our family a fantastic home and over the past 3 years have continued to check in and provide any slight tweaks or modifications that needed to be done. Very Pleased with our experience and would recommend Grande to anyone looking for a great custom build experience
Michael Schuman: We absolutely loved working with the GCB team. John was intimately involved in the process from conception to completion. He really listened to what we wanted and made our vision come true. Enough can’t be said about his creativity and ability to brainstorm ideas with us to design pieces of the home that were unique to us. Great experience, great quality and great people. We would 100% build with GCB again.
Gerard Orie Jr: Angie was very pleasant and professional to deal with!!
Rebecca Vandagriff: Services:Tile work installation,Garage design building,Tile work replacement,Demolition,Project management,Remodeling,Plumbing fixture installation,FlooringPositive:Quality,Responsiveness,Value
Adam Little: Our firm, Frusterio Design Inc. has worked with John and the Grande Custom Builders team for over 7 years. John is always intimately involved with the process, from plan conception to beyond completion of the built home, ensuring the final home is built as we intended in the design. We truly look forward to seeing the final homes, and are consistently impressed (often far beyond our expectations) with the quality of the build and the attention to detail. We would highly recommend them for anyone looking to build a custom home!!
Allia Jamil: We highly recommend GCB if you are looking to buy a new home or build a custom home. We purchased a spec home that was halfway built and made a few changes to the plan that would accomadate our family better. John and his team were responsive, meticulous and hard working. We never felt pressured to into making decisions that were easier or cheaper for the builder but were encouraged to make decisions about our home that were right for us. The team has gone above and beyond with giving guidance, answering questions, and just making the building process stress free and exciting. The quality of home that GDB builds is exceptional.
Zachary Pangle: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueAbsolutely incredible company and management. They are passionate and pros at what they do. Such an honor to have worked with them. Love this team.
Lisa Zederbaum: We worked with John to build our home in 2015 and it was a wonderful experience! John was extremely knowledgeable, and all of his subs were a pleasure to work with. Even 5 years later, if I have a question John is always there to answer my call or text and help. His attention to detail shows in his builds. Highly recommend!
Joseph Mashburn: Worked with owner years ago. Great guy, and excellent carpenter.
Charlie L: I am extremely pleased with Grande Custom Builders as a construction company. Their work is excellent quality, on time, and at a reasonable cost. John and his crew were a pleasure to work with and always on time for our appointments. I also like that he presented several different ideas for the project. His creativity in solving unique construction situations was outstanding. I highly recommend this company!
Stephen Shifton: Great builder! Amazing team!
Alex Seabolt: Wonderful people to work with! We hired Grande Custom Builders for a project, and had an amazing experience. John was super responsive and answered all of our questions and concerns. The team exceeded our expectations in quality, customer service, and value. GCB completed everything on budget, and they finished within the originally quoted time period. I 100% recommend this business!
Mike Hung: Positive:QualityJohn and his team built us our home this past year and we couldn't be more pleased with the final product and quality of the house. When unforeseen issues came up during the build, John and our PM Tim found cost effective ways to address the issues without compromising on quality. Great builders and, more importantly, great people.
