Virtuoso School My son began taking piano from Svetlana when he was 5 years old and I could not be happier. I think highly of her classical teaching style, placing importance on reading music and learning theory. She is warm, intelligent, and encouraging. Similarly, Virtuoso school of music and art feels like a home away from home - the perfect environment to relax, enjoy, and learn.

My son has been taking piano lessons from Stevlana for 3 years. He was years old at the time and learned to read sheet music within a couple of months. He has blossomed into a very good pianist but the most important part of the experience is the self-confidence has built over the years. Lana, a very accomplished musician, has accumulated a staff with amazing experience that allows them to customize each lesson to each of their students. They really care and that is very evident in their enthusiasm that I see week after week. 2) Learning development. The school’s founder, Svetlana Chernyshova has incorporated different learning techniques into the program that has produced incredible results. My daughter just started taking piano lessons at five years old and we have seen a remarkable improvement in her expression and piano projection that has built up her confidence. Southern Park Music School is a community music school, offering music instruction to students of all ages and experience since 1964. Our Spring Term 2023 began January 16 and ends June 5, 2023 and includes 19 weeks of lessons. We accept new students at any time.

We have a beautiful recital hall, and offer programs about once a month during the school year. Recitals are free to performers and audience members.

We have 8 studios for private lessons. Each studio has an acoustic piano. All piano lessons are given on grand pianos.

Our excellent faculty members have extensive education and experience. Many have advanced degrees in music.

School of Rock in Charlotte is proud to offer music classes to Charlotte and surrounding areas including Fort Mill, Matthews, Pineville, Lake Wylie, Tega Cay, Gastonia, Belmont, Huntersville, and Mt. Holly. Students can learn how to play instruments with skill and confidence - we offer everything from drums, guitar, keyboard, and vocals in a supportive and encouraging environment. Students can develop their skills in popular local genres such as rock 'n' roll, heavy metal, grunge, alternative, rap, R&B, pop, country, punk, and Americana.


Rock 101 is one of School of Rock Charlotte's top programs for kids and beginners. Students have one weekly group rehearsal where they learn to play classic rock songs that have been simplified for beginner musicians. Additionally, Rock 101 students in Charlotte have a weekly private music lesson with an instructor who helps them learn the concepts and skills behind their performance songs.


Our music programs for kids in Charlotte are designed to get students on stage performing, with the goal of building strong musical proficiency. Younger students at School of Rock Charlotte who have participated in the Rookies program can move to our Rock 101 music program once they’re ready. Additionally, students (typically ages 8 to 13-years-old) can begin Rock 101 without any prior experience. The goal of this rock program is to quickly develop a basic competence on students’ chosen instruments before moving on to our famous Performance Program.

Every instructor at School of Rock Charlotte is an experienced musician, and they emphasize foundational music theory and technique when teaching guitar lessons to kids. Unlike other Charlotte guitar lessons and programs, School of Rock is designed to get students performing in a band.


It’s never too late to learn to play the guitar. Similar to our kids guitar lessons, School of Rock Charlotte's beginner guitar lessons for adults utilizes a performance-based curriculum. Our experienced instructors teach adult students through popular rock songs, and teach students to play guitar in a way that’s challenging and fun. We believe the best way to learn is by doing, which is why we combine weekly private guitar lessons with group band rehearsals. At School of Rock Charlotte, we teach beginner guitar lessons for adults in our Adult Program. This program gets students performing onstage at a local Charlotte venue.


As students gain skills and experience, we move them along to more challenging programs at higher skill levels. Intermediate and advanced students take the skills they learned in beginner guitar lessons, and layer on more difficult techniques and concepts. School of Rock Charlotte offers advanced guitar lessons for kids and adults that teach by playing challenging classic rock songs and emphasize playing the guitar in a real music venue. Our Charlotte guitar teachers will work with each student to develop a custom learning plan.


All of School of Rock Charlotte’s music teachers are experienced musicians devoted to helping students attain musical proficiency. Our instructors guide students one-on-one to personalize learning, inspire confidence and build social skills.


Dréa, photographer, mother of two School of Rock students and a rocker herself, became the school's GM in October of 2017. Possessing a BA in Theatre, and having a long history of teaching children of all ages in the creative arts world, she brings an exciting energy to the scope of performance that is offered. Dréa has worked locally with Children's Theatre of Charlotte, The Possibility Project and Playing for Others. Mentoring teens and fostering a sense of confidence and growth in who they are becoming is a mission close to her heart. Creating a welcoming environment that brings the best out of kids, inspiring them to expand their comfort zone of what is possible is her daily goal. When not serving the school or taking care of her family, she can be found holding a camera or a microphone, singing her lungs out.

Not only are our lesson rooms equipped for all lessons, our waiting room is great for parents and other family members waiting for lessons. Take advantage of our free Wi-Fi. And if you prefer, we have an open door policy for our lessons, you are always available to sit in on the lessons or watch through each rooms large window.

We offer our students the opportunity to participate in national piano federation festival competitions throughout the year. These are optional, but many of our students like to participate.

We hold recitals twice a year and our students love performing. We also have smaller community events that our students can participate in (invitation only). The recitals are optional for all students, but most students choose to perform. We keep our recitals festive and fun!

Our school is convenient and draws students from Ballantyne, Waxhaw, Weddington, Marvin, Pineville, Indian Land and the surrounding areas. We are easy to find on Ardrey Kell Rd, with shopping and restaurants close by (Blakeney, Rea Farms, Waverly)

We offer lessons 12 months a year. No need re-enroll each semester or year.

Our desire is to inspire our students with the love of music. We do this through teachers and music that our students love. Unlike other programs, we do not require semester minimums for lessons. You can begin anytime! To stop lessons, we just need a 14 day notice.
