Daniel Schneider: This is such a great store. They have the best mid-century fabrics for a fraction of the price. I’ve been using their fabrics in the furniture I build for years.
Bruce Curry: Had been looking for the right MCM fabric to recover my Umanoff chairs for many years. I heard of Modern Fabrics a few years ago and asked for samples numerous times. They were always gracious and sent samples, but none of them worked until this year. Then I got a terrific deal on Knoll Diva in Saffron and finally got the chairs done a few weeks ago. Nothing like great service, the right product, and a great price! Modern Fabrics is awesome!!!
Angela Rogers: This store is amazing! My sister and I have been meeting in Charlotte the last three years for annual sister trips. We found Modern Fabrics our first year. I knew this was one stop I just had to make while in Charlotte again this year. We love the new location!!! The store is cozy and inviting, as are the owners! The prices are fair. Thank you I had a great time shopping. I can’t wait to get home and start sewing 💕
Sarah S: So glad the modern furniture store recommended modern fabrics! They have an excellent selection at very reasonable prices. Online shopping is a breeze, but everyone is also wonderful and helpful in-person!
Joel Shaw: This is the place to shop if you want a huge selection of quality fabrics at very reasonable numbers. I was particularly interested in a specific high quality faux leather made by Ultra-fabrics to reupholster a very high end office chair. Ewa had it in stock in the color and quantity that I wanted. I would have paid over double elsewhere. Modern Fabrics had the same fabric the others sell at a fraction of the cost. Need I same more. Thank you Ewa. Highly recommended.
James Patterson: Ewa from Modern Fabrics has been very helpful and the go to with my upholstery projects! I recommend her to everyone looking for quality fabrics for a good price.
Jason Bromberg: Ewa was helpful, generous with samples and her time. I will certainly work with this company again. I live in Ohio, but secured fabric I could not of sourced locally.***Update on this review from three years ago.I have retuned several times to engage in more business with this eager to please vender. Most recently in relation to a pair of chairs that has been in my family 60 years. The provided material was beyond "perfect" and the chairs will now have another "new", "valued" life-THANKS EWA
Tracy: So happy to have Modern Fabrics in Huntersville now. Great selection of designer fabrics at great prices. Love the personal attention too!
Angie Hale: I ran across this place by accident and I'm glad i did. Awesome staff and I was overwhelmed with all the fabric choices!! This place is awesome! I love all the leather and other fabrics they have. I will be back for sure!!

Lee's Creative Sewing and Vacuums: what do users think?
Steve Bucci: Great experience! Our vacuum wasn't working correctly and they quickly resolved the issue. Much better than buying a new vacuum. Highly recommend!
Tasha Perrini: If I can’t give this place like 100,000 stars I would. He knows how to fix a multi needle machine I was in the middle of orders could not get my orders done because I just had so many problems out of my machine. I literally dropped it off today at 10 AM right when they open I was actually there early and sat in the car until somebody open the door . I literally got a text message at 5:20 that my machine is ready for pick up. I was told that my machine will take a week they try to do these first because they’re big and bulky and they don’t have room for them. so I was thinking OK I’ll come get it next week. I can’t speak for everybody’s machine because mine was just a very easy fix . But I literally got my machine back the exact same day and that’s amazing because now I don’t have to worry about pushing my clients behind on orders. They even added extra parts for me that guy was randomly missing on my machine. done a stitch test out and made sure everything was working. My machine is running brand spanking new like out of the box again. Your machines are like a car so make sure you take care of them go drop them off at this place and he will take care of you. I want to say thank you so much from a small business.A lil smitten
C R: Doesn't sell Janome sewing machine parts
TP Nostalgia: Not the friendliest. I did not feel welcome at all. They were also unable to tell me what they actually fixed with the sewing machine I brought in for repair.
Pork Mustard: I stopped by here to review their selection of machines and the lady, can't remember her name, gave me a demo of a machine that would fit my needs. She was very friendly and answered all my questions.
Joy Hallman: I was recently considering purchasing a new flat bed embroidery machine and had seen representatives from Lee’s Creative Sewing and Vacuums at an event a couple of years ago, so decided to call to ask questions about the Brother line. Barry was so incredibly helpful that I decided to visit his store - which is 3 hours from my home. Happily, I am now the proud owner of a Luminaire and cannot say enough good things about Brother and the terrific attention Barry and the staff have given me. I will be taking another machine up in a couple of weeks for him to service and I’m sure my needs will be more than met by Barry and his team at Lee’s. For anyone looking to buy an embroidery machine, please call and speak to Barry before you do - you won’t be sorry!!
Georgie Davey: Thank you for your kind and courteous help today !!
Patti Rogers: THEY FIXED MY SEWING MACHINE! I am thrilled with the knowledge and the attention to my needs regarding my sewing machine.. I spent the evening joyfully free motion quilting with a machine that runs like a dream!
shalom charlotte: I gave two stars, one because it's near my house and the other for the selection. What's left off is service. As a small business owner, I can't imagine not even looking up when a customer comes in. They do not care one bit if you are greeted or finding what you need, or anything. They're not rude but they are cold as ice.The one with the long gray hair is the worst offender. When she speaks. it's so clear you are bothering her.I only go when I absolutely have to!
Diane Williams: I absolutely love this sewing shop.Always professional. Helpful and clean store
Hannah Reynolds: I had a mishap with my bobbin case and ended up ruining its alignment in my machine. Thankfully the kind people at this store were willing to screw it all back in place, free of charge. Only took them 5 minutes to put everything back in its place and send me on my way with a functioning machine! So appreciative for the quick and friendly service!
Ruth Lothers: I brought my 20 year old Brother sewing machine purchased before moving to this area to be serviced. It was skipping stitches. Barry looked up the part that needed to be replaced, found that it was not longer made by the company, found a new part from another store and repaired my machine. He also helped me with 2 other machines--very helpful. It's good to actually see and talk to the helpful person who does the repair. 5 stars indeed!!
Dorothy Hall: My experience was great! They were knowledgeable about my machine and serviced it promptly. It is running well 👍
Sara Fraker: I have a combo embroidery/sewing machine that I am slowly figuring out how to use. I stopped in to get some thread and spoke with Berry. He was incredibly helpful, kind and patient with my questions. He explained quite a few things to me including the differences between threads. The thread I purchased is sooo much better than the junk I got at a local chain store. It doesn't jam or fray and my work looks much nicer! The woman who was at the register was sweet and friendly. We had a great conversation. :-)I was amazed at the amount of accessories and supplies they have for sale! I have found my new store for all things sewing/embroidering.
Sarah Chick: I had the most wonderful buying experience after visiting and being disappointed by multiple (other) sewing shops. Karen was knowledgeable and patience while I learned about the available machines and we worked together to figure what fit my needs and budget. Neither her nor the owner were once pushy or standoff-ish. I am very pleased with my purchase and they will certainly be my 1st visit for any future sewing needs.
Victoria H.: My husband and I visited the store yesterday, and I was pretty shocked on how we were initially treated (it wasn't southern hospitality) basically we were ignored by an older lady. Lindsey quickly came toassist with his knowledge and expertise.
Richard Wise: This is a great place to buy and a wealth of information. They are all very helpful and knowledgeable.
Laura Neidich: Just picked up my Bernina from being serviced. Service was done well and returned fast! The store also had stuff I need to do my sewing projects and helpful staff to assist!
Lindsey Aune: The staff is great! They helped me pick out the right machine for me and they provided quick service. I bought a used machine and after the service and cleaning, it looked brand new. It was ready when they said it would be. Very friendly and helpful. I'll be back for all my machine needs.
Nate Wolf: Bernina and Brother sewing machine authorized repair center. Miele dealer for luxury vacuum sales and service and also carries in-stock supplies like bags and hepa filters. Central whole house vacuum cleaner systems. Have bought and recommended to many clients for their homes. Located beside Target at Rea Rd near the CHIC-FIL-A. Finished service on my machine ahead of schedule!
Jacqueline Martin: ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!!! I am so pleased that I stopped in today. I wanted to look at a couple of embroidery machines that I had researched online. They were so helpful. They gave more information than I expected, were patient with answering my questions, they explained the promotions on the machines, the additional bonus options offered by their shop specifically, and added a couple of items they knew I needed to get started. I was able to come home, open my new toy, and have everything I needed for my test run. They also offer FREE classes for the machines they sell as well as project classes for a fee. I will certainly continue shopping here.

The Interior Alternative Fabric Outlet: what do users think?
Colette Thompson: I've been to this store several times but have since been purchased by another company. My visit on 7/20/2022 was met by a super friendly Sales Associate, Joshua. He was helpful without hovering and allowed me to find exactly what I was looking for. He also introduced me to the Manager who was also friendly and engaging. The customer service was A+. The fabric selection is fantastic! And the prices are better than all of the box stores even with their occasional discounts. This will be my go-to store for all of my home decor fabric needs. My pillow covers and shams turned out great!
Nick Warnock: Very helpful staff! They’re selling great dog beds at their register too.
Nathan Dowdy: "Amanda and Elyse were amazing!! They were so incredibly helpful to me in figuring out how to accomplish a large project I was working on for a client, stayed with me until we were done figuring out every aspect and measurement needed, and helped me source fabric from their massive in-store selection. They had the material I needed in-store, nothing had to be sourced, and I left that day with everything I needed - and the project turned out amazing! Thank you Amanda and Elyse for making a huge headache of mine go away! Give these ladies a raise!!"
Dennis Mooney: Huge selection but once Elise came to our rescue we had our selection in 15 minutes.
Robin Muse: May of 2021 I ordered some upholstery fabric. Unfortunately due to Covid we could not get the fabric. Amanda called me 8 months later to let me know she had found the fabric in California and if I was still interested in it that she would be glad to order it for me. That is what I call customer service! And yes I ordered the fabric!
Hollis Adams: Great selection of fabric and very helpful employees. Emma greeted us and helped me select some fabric for my Mother’s couch. My Mother lives in Florida and Emma researched how much it would cost for them to mail her the fabric. Amanda helped my husband, he has been texting with her this past week, he is looking for padded vinyl for a table to use for poker and board games. These are both going to be Christmas presents. We live in Mooresville, NC and worth the drive, huge selection and top notch customer service. Can’t wait to come back again.
Regena Arrington: The staff is very helpful. Lots of beautiful fabrics.
Karen Holt: We went in to purchase fabric for 2 chairs, expecting a very difficult decision process. Elise greeted us, looked at a swatch of other fabric from the same room, picture of the rug and chairs. She then took us to the aisle of colors we needed. Elise left us to shop and told us to call her with questions. When we narrowed the selection to 2 fabrics, she came and helped us make the final call. She cut the fabric, wound it on a roll, wrapped it in plastic and sent us on our way. Very pleasant and satisfying experience! I highly recommend Interior Alternative, its fabric selection and friendly and helpful staff!
Barbara Frix: A good place to buy fabric
Ruth Thiedke Cummins: Great selection of fabrics. Am looking for curtain and upholstery material and they have a wonderful selection.
Lolz Holy: I drove two hours and when I got here they’re closed. They need to put the hours straight. Be respectful to your customers.Paola W.
harlem on my mind: Emily assisted me and she was awesome; very knowledgeable and provided great assistance.
V M.: I wish the fabrics were not on the floor.
Bethann Rohaly: Wonderful and helpful! Large variety of good quality fabrics, good prices.
Kim Maye: A very wide selection of fabrics available at different price ranges. A comfortable, bright atmosphere that is easy to spend some time looking for exactly the right fabric. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful without being overbearing. I always find what I am looking for and more!
Maria Gloria: Excellent
Christine Bury: Website says they open at 9:30. I drove one hour to get to the shop. Door sign says it's only open Monday through Friday. i called the location the voicemail says they are open Monday through Saturday starting at 10:00 a.m. Mailbox is full and you can't even leave them a message to call you back when they do get in the store. what the??? Is it that difficult to get it straight.
Catherine Ivey: Pls ignore this review. It was intended for Mary Jos in Gastonia. My apologies
Tammy Wilson: Excellent quality and beautiful fabrics, so many choices. Always enjoy shopping for fabric here, staff is friendly and helpful. A most for your local fabric needs.
Wendy Creel: I saved for a long time to be able to recover my chair. This store was recommended by the upholstery repair person. Very disappointed. The fabric is pitting all over. A 500 dollar waste.I am editing my review. The manager has offered to replace all 12 yards of fabric and even allotted me to spend 4.00 a yard more in my selection.Thank you
Barbi Gearhart: Amazing!

Charlotte Sewing Center: what do users think?
C R: Kind of rude when I try to interact with the gentleman who works here. Cold reception. They only sell Pfaff and Babylock.
Melissa Mckenzie: Wonderful sewing classes. Mrs Regina is a very nice Wonderful and professional teacher. I enjoyed sewing with everyone. Had fun.
Michelle Jones: Regina is an awesome instructor....learned so much in just the first class!! Looking forward to continuing my journey in the world of sewing!!
Gin Jones: Great variety of sewing machines. Several brands. They also offer classes for sewing and quilting. And they service machines as well.
Cherronne Chisolm: Nice place, friendly people and fixed my machine in half the time for a great price!
Kayla Koehlmoos: I went in here to get an old Viking machine serviced, and i ended up buying a new Baby Lock. He was so helpful, and I'm so in love with my new machine! No more struggling with the bobbin tension, no more broken needles, just sewing bliss. Thank you so much!
Cathy Brackbill: I purchased a Viking machine from Charlotte Sewing and Bill was very helpful. He knew exactly what I needed for the type work I was going to do.He took the time to let me sit at the machine and go over everything about it. He and his son Ben are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I like the fact that you can call them or go back for help. Also they service what they sell. This type establishment is hard to find nowadays. They also offer sewing classes which I hope to make use of in the future.Cathy
william moreland: Very knowledgeable and experienced in the sewing industry. Great customer services
Karen Popp: Exceptional sales and service! I have purchased 7 machines from Charlotte Sewing Center for my business. With their extensive knowledge of the sewing industry, they are always able to meet the product needs of my profession. The helpful staff is always willing to answer any questions I have regarding my machines, be it technical or creative. The educators, Susan & Regina, are incredibly talented and masters of their craft. Bill & Ben are fastidious in servicing my "babies" in a timely manner. The store is always a joy to visit as it is adorned with inspiration and the finest sewing machines available in the greater Charlotte area.
Kim Silva: Cannot say enough good things about this shop. I have purchased three machines here. Hassle free purchases, outstanding service, always in and out quick which I know is not the case for many sewing machine shops. Bill has years of experience and takes great care of my investments. Susan is very knowledgeable and does an excellent job keeping me educated about my products. Not only do you received great service you have a lifetime of of one on one lessons with your sewing machine, can't beat that! Another great thing the shop does well is very timely communication when there are updates and upgrades to my machine, very helpful. I have sent several friends to Charlotte Sewing Center to procure their machines and they have been well taken care of.
Nancy Darby: Several years ago I traded in a Pfaff Sensation for a Creative Icon. Bill was very helpful and went out of his way to help me get a machine that I could use daily and keep learning new techniques. I have found I can call Charlotte Sewing Center and get help with all my sewing needs. Service on my machine is thorough and done in a timely manner. All employee's are friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoyed the classes Susan taught on my machine and how she's always willing to help. I am grateful for their knowledge on machines and willingness to teach. I couldn't sing enough praises for the dedication they have for sewing. So glad I located them a few years ago. Just wish they were closer to China Grove.
Linda Liinangi: If you want straight up information on sewing machines without a lot of hype, this is the place to go. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I have bought three sewing machines from here and have been most pleased with my sewing experiences and with the support offered with training and the rare repair...usually due to operator error. My bad. Anyway, I love the classes offered and this is the place to go for sewing machine, classes and accessories.
shalom charlotte: I wish I could give 5 stars because I love my machine and ultimately they made things right with me. It just took 4 trips across town and some very questionable interactions to get there.First, the young man who works there is completely useless in the customer service capacity. Maybe he is good with repairs so they should set him up in the back, never to deal with customers.Second, on Wednesdays, nice and knowledgeable Regina works alone apparently. So her friend accompanies her for friendship and safety which is great. But the friend talked nonstop and pressured me without letting up and I just couldn't think. It's so much money and such a commitment that situations like I experienced that day should never happen. Lesson: never shop on Wednesdays here.Third, another trip across town (and time from work) for a sewing lesson to learn the machine and we never sewed a stich. It was exactly like having the nicest lady explain the manual. 2 hours.Fourth and ultimately, the machine I was pressured to buy that I spent ALOT of money on was broken. So another trip across town and the owner made it right with an exchange for a new one out of the box and loads of extras. This place isn't perfect and no one is, but the mistakes they made are mostly fixable with some customer service adjustments. They've been there forever and are super complacent, but friendly enough. But enough to spend thousands...?
Ardise Black: First of all let me say that I rarely leave reviews. However, this just didn't sit well with me. This rating is for the customer service I received at Charlotte Sewing Center. I have not taken possession of my machine to know how well they fixed it. I really should have taken it with me when it wasn't ready when I was told it was going to be ready.I took my machine in on Saturday to be fixed. (a tension issue) When I got there, at 10:00am, the store was not open. The owner arrived about 5 minutes later. Understandable. Life happens! However, a greeting and an apology would have not only been nice, it was warranted!! I know, I should have taken my machine and walked back out the door. But I left it because he told me it would be ready on Monday. When I walked in the door on Monday at 2:30, the owner was helping a customer. Another young man was sitting in a chair. The young man put on his mask and walked over in my direction and just stood there. So I spoke, gave him my name and told him that I was there to pick up my machine. He said ok and went in the back to look for it. The owner still helping the other customer, had to walk by me to check on something for them. I literally had to move up a little so that he could get by, he never parted his lips to say hello, excuse me, nothing. By this time the young man returned to tell me that my machine was not ready. I said, "not ready? I was told that it would be ready on Monday." The owner then says "oh I was going to get to it in just a minute. And said if I come back in an hour he would have it ready. I just said I would come back tomorrow i live to far to come back in an hour.I really should not have left it after all that. If you say Monday it should have been ready. If I'd gotten there at 10:00am it should have been ready. Monday is Monday. After driving 30 minutes to get there, machine not being ready, no apology, no greeting, practically being walked into..... Looks like I will be going back to Lee's Creative Sewing if this is the kind of service they render. Just being cordial would have spoken volume!! Maybe I wasn't the right complexion.
Tiffany D: Not only did they fix my machine very quickly (the same day I brought it in), but they fixed other small issues that I didn’t originally bring it in for. Cleaned and oiled everything and it is much quieter than it had been in a long time! Thank you so very much!!!!!
judy fairchild: I drove up to the store from Waxhaw, and found the door locked before 3:00. Phoned the next day and spoke with Bill. This was during the time of Covid 19, and I learned that someone didn't come in for their shift. I needed a small $5 part. For my inconvenience, he mailed it to me free of charge. What a nice guy.
k H: Recently visited the store after googling places that repaired sewing machines. This location was a little out of the way being that I’m from the Cabarrus County area but I was so annoyed with the issues I had been having with my Singer, I made the drive anyway. The gentleman that helped me was thorough but fast & he was able to provide me with a free assessment. He let me know that the cost of repair for this machine wasn’t worth it & showed me a few Baby Lock & Viking models on display.I didn’t go in with the intention on buying a new machine but I knew it was necessary! I make custom wigs & hair pieces for women who have lost their hair after completing chemotherapy so it was important I had a durable machine.I’m so happy with my purchase & I appreciate the gentlemen’s (forgot his name, but he was tall with glasses) transparency! He even carried it out to my car for me. Thank you guys up at The Sewing Center for your knowledge & all that you do.
Mark Brennan: This place is the GREATEST!!! Regina helped my wife with a machine we did not purchase there. She is extremely knowledgeable and show my wife what her problem was. There was no one else in the Charlotte area that was willing to help her with the machine. My wife is working on making fleece blankets for the homeless and needed the machine to continue her project. Thanks a bunch to Charlotte Sewing Center and especially REGINA.God Bless you and your business.
Annie Bouma: I recently bought a used embroidery machine that needed A LOT of work. I brought it here and they were able to fix it and recommended the supplies I would need for it. When I upgrade machines, I'll definitely be coming back to check out their inventory. Thank you!
Christine Coe: Regina was very helpful. She’s knowledgeable, friendly and took a lot of time to explain the various feet for my upcoming serger class. The prices are reasonable and there is a large selection of Babylock and Pfaff sewing machines.
Barry Meyers: This shop is a hidden gem in Charlotte NC.My wife and I purchased a Baby Lock Ovation Serger and have also attended many workshops,.Here you can find all of the top Sewing machine and Serger brands but most importantly you will find the small shop care and experience that many of us still long for in this age and for me is the reason we should always strive to shop local first. We also received a wonderful deal on a top of the line product that we had shopped for in three states.
