That's Novel Books: what do users think?
Ben Kalra: my favorite local bookstore. the owner is super nice & helpful. small but mighty selection of books across many genres 📚✨
Kristina Scurry: Wonderful bookstore located in Camp North End. A cozy, immaculate, and warm atmosphere. The shop owner is also super bright and a delight. A Charlotte bookstore definitely worth checking out.
Tracey Choroco: The store is really cute and the options I’m the boutique side are fantastic, but the book selection is too small to be worth the trip just for this. (A nice little stop if you’re already at Camp Northend.)
Alicia Soto: More used books than new which I personally love, however it's not a huge or curated book selection. Certainly a fun shop for artisan products like jewelry, t-shirts, soaps, and more! Their painted has selection is beautiful and I can't wait to go back to get one!
Jane Manfredi: My favorite book store in Charlotte!!! That’s Novel Books is a beautiful curation of used books. I love getting book recommendations from owner, Alyssa. If you aren’t local (or even if you are!) her monthly book subscription is amazing! As well as the monthly silent book club they put on. It’s a treat to have this in our city.
Jennifer Bishop: That's Novel Books is a great addition to the Charlotte area. I've found a lot of great books. The owner is incredibly helpful. I told her the type of book I had just finished and loved, she pulled an assortment of similar books. She really cares about her customers enjoying their reading experience and it shows in the extra mile she goes for everyone.
John Moore: Just a tiny assortment of books located inside another store.
Sandmonster: One of the best book stores in Charlotte! Alyssa is the best and will help you find the perfect book! Love this place!!
Megan Fuller: This is our favorite local used book store. The owner is super responsive and will always hold books for you. Also, my daughter absolutely loves their story time with local authors!
Ryan Guyer: Wonderful used bookstore with a great selection of books and book accessories. The owner Alyssa is very helpful and her passion for books is unlike any others
Daniel Pentecost: If you're not familiar with the independent book seller scene here in Charlotte this one of the places you should get to know. The owner has done a good job curating what's on the shelves. This is a great place to find something you might not otherwise decide to pick up if you were just looking on the 'zon. Periodically the owner also offers "blind date" book selections to help folks fall in love with new genres and writers they might not otherwise be familiar with.
mike C: Fantastic small business that adds so much to the Charlotte book scene. Very happy they are still open, and not at all hard to find in the heart of Camp North End. They have “Blind Date” books, and a silent reading book club. Go here and take a trip through the shelves. Alyssa is awesome and will help you find whatever book you want.
Brittney Derrick: Alyssa is the best!
Phillip Miller: This is a really fun bookstore. The selection isn't vast but still worth a visit.
JaCo: Love this place! Alyssa is super nice and will hold books for you. I love the Blind Date with a Book she offers! I've purchased a couple of these and have been pleasantly happy! Definitely recommend going here for a great selection of books, at prices that will save you money!
Sarah Kaylan Stricker: Great used bookstore! Always stocked well and clean. Super adorable atmosphere with chairs to sit and read or get some work done. Outside there's shared seating (picnictables & rockers), too! 💛 10/10 would recommend.

Jen Frederich: Great, local, used book store. The staff is super helpful. If they don't have a book you're looking for, they place you on a waitlist and will call you when a copy comes in. They also buy your used books, but for store credit.
Kala Nock: This was our first time going to this book store. Honestly out of all the used book stores in Charlotte, this is the only one I have found books at.I brought my 3 kids with me, my two year old and 8 year old found books for themselves and I found 4 books for myself. The people that work there were so nice. It's hard to go to book stores and not worry that they are going to get annoyed with your kids because they can be noisy, but they were so sweet to my kids. We will definitely be back asap, I think we found our new go to book store!
Chinmay Nadkarni: Best place in south Charlotte for used books. They have a great selection and good prices as well
Han Stw: I visited the Book Rack while I was in Charlotte- overall impressed with the selections and the quality of the books. The store is quite large and has all sort of genres available. Staff members were super friendly too. They have some sort of membership system, where you get a certain discount after certain amount of purchase and occasionally runs monthly specials. Overall highly recommended!
Marcia Lahens: A great place to buy used books. Excellent selection, well organized, making it easy to find what you're looking for. And the staff is great...very helpful and knowledgeable. Shopping at The Book Rack is a win-win...you're recycling and getting a great deal...win-win, indeed!
Debi Jozwiak: Great selection of books. All books are stored on a computer so the store knows what titles it has in stock.

Park Road Books: what do users think?
Bonnie Robinson: I'm grateful to have a local bookstore to support! This is such a lovely, cozy spot with a large selection of books, puzzles, and cards. Costs are comparable to any chain bookstore. It is such a comfortable space! Between the dog, comfy couches, and relaxed atmosphere, I felt like I was in my living room. I also appreciate the shelves of staff picks and recommendations.
Angela Sharkey: Great selection, happy to order a book in if it is not on the shelf AND puzzles!!!
Paulette Haw: Local favorite.Get your read on!
Leighanne Painter: My favorite local bookstore!
Jacci Mathews-Brown: Loved loved this space! Walked out with a bagful of books and puzzles!
Nicholas Sanford: If you need books, Park Road Books should be your go-to spot. It's a great independent, locally-owned book store. They have a variety of options and knowledgeable staff that's always available to help. If you're in a book club, check out their book club program for discounts on your books! Also, dog friendly!
Julie Putnam: Best bookstore ever!!
Peggy Kuhlmann: Love this book store!
Al: I’d rather come here 100% to buy my new books than to go to a big corporate book company. Love this place and their staff.
Amy White: Shop local. The folks here know their stuff, and it's a fun atmosphere.
Nicholas Underwood: The best independent book store in Charlotte!
Yordanos Yohannes: Very nice place daughter was so excited. I will definitely be back!
Eren N.: This bookstore has lovely, calm atmosphere and it's filled with a wide variety of books and puzzles. My only issue is that the adult fiction shelves are divided into Mystery, Classics (sans mystery classics like Arsene Lupin and Agatha Christie, as all those copies are shelved under Mystery), and All Other Fiction.
Nick Feather: Cozy book store with a great selection and friendly staff.
David Foulser: Everyone should have a local book store as warm and welcoming as Park Road Books. My recent purchase was the same price as on Amazon, but I got to support a local merchant.
Philip Wahlman: Great local book shop!
Natasha: Terrible customer service. There was no other customers in the store(I see why) none of the workers greeted me or asked if I need any help. I won't be back or recommend to anybody.
Preston Evans: Cool place, odd layout
Tonya Cruz: This is a great independent bookstore. I believe it's the last of its kind in Charlotte. They have a great selection of books and book themed gifts. They used do you have authorization to do readings, not sure if they still do. They have a great selection of local authors as well.
Caroline K: Very nice staff. Despite my short time there, I look at the experience in a very positive light.
Jack Werner: Park Road Books is a great bookstore with plenty of options. I've found things spanning from personal finance, YouTuber cookbooks, old classics, local newspapers, and everything in between. It's also a great way to kill time before or after eating in the area.

Urban Reader Bookstore: what do users think?
Judy Fussell: Quaint bookstore
Wilf Errel (Wilf Errel): Meh, closed when I got there even though it said they'd be open.
Shay A: The only black owned Bookstore in Charlotte! I felt at home! The art on the wall is amazing, the ambiance is amazing. Just great vibes!
Wellington Ogude: Lovely atmosphere and service!
Thomas Smith: Great place, friendly staff and owner. I will be back
Margueritta Brown: This establishment is stocked well on cultural books. I was in awe as I perused around this Black owned Bookstore. Phenomenal!
Kim Williams: Store owner is very helpful via phone and chat. Service is really reliable and quick. I have been looking for a black bookstore to support and thanks to my sister in law Michelle Lyles I found this one.
Shanon: Love Urban Reader Bookstore! Great selection of books and artisan goods. The layout and decor is also very welcoming.
Tiffany P: Great book store.
Tee R: Had a great time talking with the owner, Sonyah. She was very welcoming and the store has so many interesting titles to choose from, it was hard to leave with only the three that I bought! There's also a good amount of items for sale from other black-owned businesses (bags, coffee cups, jewelry) so it's a great place to pick up unique gifts too!
Cris Taylor: Yes. An actual, physical bookstore...and it's amazing! Great place to find both poplar and unique urban books, games, puzzles, laptop stickers, art, magnets and more for ALL ages. Great children's selection as well. They also feature local Charlotte authors and book signings. I love it here! #bookgeek
Brad Treece: Good selection
C S: Just chatted with the owner for a good 20 minutes. Great little bookstore.
James Knox: Great outlet for African American writers.
Edward Brown III: Nice bookstore, relaxing atmosphere. Not a multitude of titles but you will find something interesting.
Teddy Andrews: My friend held her new book signing tgere. Love it and everything abiut this Black own business. Professional courteous and friendly.
Tara Levy: Wonderful place and lovely store owner!
Tonae Howard: Went to Vixen Art studios for a Trap and Paint event, it was LIT! The vibe was amazing and the owners are such dope individuals! Definitely will be back!
D W: I am very intuitive. Definitely also peep energies. My initial walking into the store had a home like feeling, but the person who introduced me to the store was very welcoming and polite. But the Vibes with the Cashier was off. She wasn't friendly and welcoming. Everything she did Do was because that is a part of the job. Her customer service gave Mcdonalds vibes, but Id say overall Burger King vibes because of the Physical store was beautiful. One thing about me is Where I see value I will spend my money. I see no value in a place with Dry workers. As a black business especially towards people of your own kind Have to do better. Vibes was so unpleasant I really never want to go back.I had a bad experience with AT&T 13 years ago and not looking back. Statistics show a 70% woman is more likely Not to shop at a place again when customer service is bad an thats true.I only purchased what I did to support the owner who I believe based on the upkeep and appearance of the store is humanly "honorable."
Mimi Hsu: I love being able to support small black owned businesses in the area. I discovered this bookstore thanks to you a local blog. It is slightly hidden away in the shopping center and yet is easily accessible. I like the way it was laid out in sections of specific categories. The wall art was also extremely inspiring. I could see myself sitting in here for hours reading. They also had sections with great local items as gifts for people. There’s so much that you can discover in this place and I learned that they also do booksignings for local artist almost weekly if not monthly.
Johnny Gottrocks: Absolutely love this place. Love the wide selection of books to choose from. If they don't have the book that you are looking for, then they can order it for you. Love their community outreach.

I've Read It In Books: what do users think?
Kristine Compton: A thoughtfully curated book store for all. Just right and full of charm. Plenty of rich stuff for the mind and heart, and culturally relevant. I would give 10 stars if I could!
Jordan Salari: Nice, cozy, inclusive place. If they had hot drinks I could stay there all day.
Hannah Eckard: Excellent selection of books across the board ranging from fiction, poetry, LGBTQIA literature, activism, banned books, philosophy, history, children’s books and more. Free parking for the store behind the building is a plus! They’re also always happy to order books for you that you might be looking for!
Megan Lafferty: Super tiny but has a great selection still. I didn’t know what to expect but they had a lot of popular newer releases, the owner was very nice too. Will definitely return to support this small biz
Jaquise Smith: It's a cool little bookstore located inside of wine bar. Good service!
Alexander Weatherman: Rob was incredible! You can tell he genuinely cares about his customers and wants to put the right book in your hands. I 100% recommend swinging by and grabbing something from here!
Claire Ave'Lallemant: Rob went out of his way to look for and assist me in finding the books I needed. Excellent communication and amazing customer service.Support your local bookstores! You can even order through them direct from the distributor if they don’t have what you need on their shelves.
Mimi Hsu: Rob is an amazing person and such a genuine spirit. Stopped by and perused his books. I follow him online and get so much inspiration from what he posts. I haven't bought any books from him and yet I've donated a number of books that I no longer needed in my collection.
Dan Stemmerman: Rob does the best job of curating an essential selection of books. Anything he doesn't have in at the moment he's happy to track down for you, but you'll always find something you need.
Shannon Boley: What a gem this place is! Fair warning: this place is like a Russian Nesting Doll: you go into the market, and inside the market, there's the record store, and then in the record store, there's the small bookstore!! Also, we were lucky enough to talk to the owner for about 30 minutes, and he is full of knowledge and great recommendations! They have unique books I've never seen anywhere else, as well as great current selections of popular books. I wanted to buy almost all of these books.A great price-point for both new and used books - and there's not a lot of times when new and used books are both so well curated and organized. And this bookstore partners with a charity, and gives books to the homeless. I really appreciated this small bookstore, and recommend you go! 5/5
Art Lansing: Fantastic little shop with a diverse selection of vinyl and a thoughtfully curated library for sale. Many books are earmarked to donate proceeds to local mutual aid and neighborhood support efforts. I'll make a point to come back here every time I'm in town.
