Woodcraft of Charlotte: what do users think?
Mike Rufty: If you were looking for a nice selection of exotic woods and high-end specialty tools that you will never find at a big box store, look no further. Their staff is highly knowledgeable, very friendly, and even though you may get sticker shock on some of the prices, they are actually reasonable for the quality of the products they sell. Highly recommend.
Roger B: Superb local shop. Everyone who works there is extremely knowledgeable and takes their time with you no matter your experience level. first class service all the way.
Keith Loeber: The same inventory they have had forever. I have always had to walk up to the counter to either ask for help or advice. Maybe because I am younger, not sure. I always felt that they had the market here in Charlotte and only cater to the good old boys club. Today I visited Rockler and was blown away by customer service and selection of products, I gave Woocraft alot of chances, but your employees like to stand behind your counters and act as thou I am interrupting there conversations.
Adam: Great woodworking store they have a good selection of great tools
Bill brafford: Love Woodcraft. I need to win the lottery so I can buy more stuff. Everyone is so nice and knowledgable to help with all your needs and questions.
VN Woodwork: Excellent customer service.
Sumanth Krishnamoorthy: This place is incredible. I drove 40 minutes during peak traffic to come here and it was worth it! They have everything you can imagine, and I mean EVERYTHING! I walked in seeking advice on wood options for an end grain cutting board I’m hoping to make and the guy working there walked the entire store with me and showed every single option they had! Service was impeccable, number of options are great for nice quality lumber, and they got all kinds of jigs. I only wish I had come sooner so I could’ve impulse bought much more than I did!Definitely drop by if you’re looking for woodworking supplies and you will never step foot into another big box store!
Sean Young: The staff and selection here are amazing! Jae helped walk me through what I needed to do to finish my projects and was able to supply me with everything I needed. They have a great selection of everything you need for any woodworking project.
Chris Hoey: As one of Charlotte's few woodworking shops, this is a nice place to visit. Their selection is much more thorough than the big box stores for woodworkers. My main reason for coming is it's nice to be able to put eyes on and interact with the tools you are purchasing. That's just a way better experience than online for me.
David Lee: Great store with an excellent customer focus.
Richard Collingridge: Very, very friendly and helpful. Knowledgeable. Gave great advice and took time with me.
PainfulWhale “PainfulWhale”: Great store and the employees are all very kind and have been helpful answering any questions. I like that they carry many quality brands of tools, finishes and accessories that you just won’t find at Lowes or Home Depot.
Jim Owen: Wonderful "woodcraft" store. Can find most of your needs at this place. And the help available to you is excellent.
Walter Wright: Great quality products.
Jennifer Spaulding: We had issues with a mis pack and once we contacted woodcraft it was taken care of promptly! Thank you and this is why we continue to buy from this company. Great products great service!
Sonia Perez: Great service! I had called to reserve a granite block and picked it up the next day. It was a simple, no fuss transaction. The employees are very knowledgeable and helpful.
Bill A: Good selection, great staff. I am a " pro" woodworker, one of my go tos for materials and tools!
Dannie Wicker: As a business owner. I like going to this store for my high end equipment upgrades. Going to pickup my second CNC machine. The staff here are excellent, and knowledgeable. They will go over the top to help you.
Graciela Sandt: I love to visit this store. For the amateur in carpentry, like me, this place is excellent. I love to purchase wood finishings like lacquers, cabinets hardware, etc.. They also offer workshops, which has help me a lot in sharpen my skills in woodworking.
Bill Kelly: Great store! Staff is very knowledgable and over the top helpful. Every one of them that has assisted me is into woodworking on some level. Even though they are the only brick and mortar wood working store around, their prices are lower than you wood think(see what I did there? Wood for would😄) The collection of specialty tools and finishes are vast and excessively diverse.Even the very seasoned expert would find tools they never heard of.The wood selection is awesome! Quite the selection in size and shape. Gorgeous live edge slabs, species that I've never heard of with incredibly beautiful grain and color. If you are looking for a hobby. Go here and fall in love with wood working.
Claude Shealy: Toy store for woodworkers! They only carry quality products and if you're lucky you'll find some outstanding deals!

Zachery Munroe: Was initially impressed with the communication and response time. We had some built-ins done in our new house and immediately noticed quality issues after one month. The material used for a built-in started cracking which we explained to owner of the company. He simply told us that he used the right material for the job.We are now in the process of ripping out the thousands of dollars of builtins that we had put in and will be redoing them with another company. The positive reviews look to be on simple projects, but with something more complex I cannot recommend.Service:Custom carpentry services
Chandni Kothadia: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueWe had a great experience working with Stan and his team! They send our board and batten wall in the nursery and it was quality work! We will definitely be using him and his team on future projects!Service:Installation

This is a very professional business for a reasonable price - we will use them for any future projects also!Service:Custom carpentry services
Siva S: Stan and Hermes did a wonderful job with our in built cabinets on either side of our fireplace and custom closet. Chelsea Carmen: At first I was satisfied with the work. It wasn’t done as I requested but I accepted it because he was already halfway through the job. Once we made the time to paint the shiplap we noticed issues. I wish I spoke up at the beginning and told him I asked specifically for shiplap all the way across and framing around it. It’s my fault for not speaking up. Take note of my experience and just make sure you get what you ask for.
Tracy Fisher: We hired Creative Wood Designers to add board and batten in our diningroom and entry foyer. Stan was very conscious of making sure the job was done to our satisfaction and that our vision was achieved. We are very pleased with quality of workmanship, so much so that we are going to have them add shiplap in 2 areas of our home. I highly recommend Stan and Creative Wood Designers.
Quentin Becker: Stan was great to work with and accommodating to find a time that worked for me to get the project done. Looking forward to working with Stan in the future on more projects!
Nicole Weinraub: Stan and his team did a great job building a custom storage bench for my kids toys in our playroom. He was punctual, professional and made sure it turned out exactly how I wanted, including adding extra safety brackets to keep little fingers safe. I would definitely recommend him for custom woodwork!
Traci Tyson: Responsive, professional and trustworthy! Greatly appreciate the project of building a banquette for our lake cottage. Will add photos once painted.

McGee Lumber Company: what do users think?
Ian Skogland: Old school lumberyard. Love it!
vasudha iyer: Most unprofessional and overpriced
Jocelyn Furr: The nicest people best quality and service
thomas tarlton: These are the nicest and most knowledgeable guys around for your lumber needs! Always a pleasure doing business here!
Daniel Beekman: These guys are great! Found the office easily, was directed where to park politely, they loaded my truck (all I had to do was select what I wanted). Really enjoyed the atmosphere and no nonsense process.I will be using this lumber yard exclusively in the future for projects that require exceptional lumber. I picked up some really pretty boards.
James Sanders: The management and help very courteous they do custom work, prices are good. Pain management very helpful. They carry odd pieces of wood and all types of wood.
Fields Ketteman: McGee Lumber Charlotte was great! I'm currently working on remodeling my home and was looking for great wood choices. John and his team was very helpful. Great prices for his products and I found what I was looking for.
Nate Timm: “What do you specialize in?”“Extremely high end softwoods.”“Oh, perfect, I’ll take some of this crown molding here!”“All out”Great conversation, with no intent to stay in business. I’m all for supporting local, but a little customer service goes a LONG way. And none goes even further...
Karin Stevens: Great service and wonderful selection of speciality wood!
Karen Walden: We had a 10 year old deck that was in sad shape. McGee Lumber helped us determine the best size boards to buy to save on cost and suggested a higher grade wood that would withstand the heat much better than the decking we already had. The guy who rebuilt the deck commented on the quality of the wood several times. We love the look of our new deck!
frank conner: Sales person was so rude.
Anna Mason: Lowes is literally half the price for wood that I ordered. When I tried to call to negotiate so they could provide some type of discount (not even asking for the price I was quoted from Lowes) they would not budge. Not to mention they charged $150 extra for delivery. I normally support small businesses however a small business that tries to double the profit and be greedy will never win.
David Hibbard-Rode: These guys were great to work with. Professional service, able to answer all questions right away and everyone I talked to there was really excellent. Only to be outdone by the lumber itself. Gorgeous Southern Yellow Pine to trim out a whole house with. I was a bit nervous ordering lumber from so far away (the house is in Wisconsin) and having never worked with this lumber company before but I would absolutely work with them again.
Derek Maul: Quality lumber and great service. Something lacking at the big box stores
Scott Rhodes: Great lumber yard
Michael LeBaron: Definitely the place to go for clear, quality lumber.
Bill Bryan - personal: Excellent source of lumbar. Had exactly what i needed at a good price and were very helpful. Glad i found them and will be using them again!
F J Flynn: We have been an occasional customer for 37 years and appreciate the service and convenience.
David D'Amico: Pleasant customer service, overpriced lumber. I needed some 10' white oak boards so decided to go here to get them. What I got were 3 10' boards and a 9'9" board. I recognize that is pretty close but I was very clear I needed the boards to be 10' for my project. Given that I paid more for this lumber than any of the other places around I assumed the lumber would be of the best quality and that I would get what I asked for. I was wrong.
Garen Griffin: Great customer service. Very knowledgeable about their products. Wasn’t given a single bad piece of lumber.
Chuck Thompson: I'm guessing the couple of bad reviews might be from the wrong expectations? This place isn't selling construction-grade stuff or stuff you can get at one of the big box stores. They carry higher-grades and more unusual species. They were very friendly and helpful to me and the prices of what I was buying were very reasonable.

Carolina Urban Lumber: what do users think?
Christopher Lewis: Consistently has had a great selection of high quality local slabs and lumber for the years I've been a regular customer
Rich Dezego: Great customer service and very professional...
rjrotermund: I'm an advanced/professional woodworker and I'm new to the Charlotte area. I've tried Urban Lumber several times with the high hopes they would be my main supply. Unfortunately, for my needs, they just have not worked out. I've bought from them 3x. Once all of the walnut I purchased was case hardened and virtually impossible to work with and very low yield (I gave it my best effort). I also was in the need of perpendicular slabs (cookies). They first said yes, but put me on hold to take another call and when they came back they refused, but they also seemed a bit annoyed. I make bespoke items and sometimes need something a bit different - this is not the place for that. Their prices are about average to slightly above average especially for slabs. I'm not saying this is a bad place, it just doesn't fit my needs, so I'm still looking for my go to supplier.
MARTIN Superstar: They are just awesome. Will be back soon
Palazoloup: Great selection of local hardwoods; maple, oak, cedar, black walnut, chestnut and some old barn wood planks. Great service from the staff. Picture is of a large piece of cedar which became a mantle after a few days of work. Very pleased with purchases. On most recent visit, they have a very large assortment of love edge slabs.
Bj Meadows: Wow, just wow! Visiting Charlotte from Jacksonville. They have more wood in their shop than all of Jacksonville. Not only is it better quality and better priced but sourced responsibly. They’re using lumber and their materials in a way that is helping the people around them and the environment. If I could I would move here just for this place.
Gabriel Massey: Went to Carolina Urban Lumber for the first time in search of some rough cut lumber and they did not disappoint. There were a great variety of species and sizes of rough cut lumber. I also appreciated the availability of info regarding where the lumber actually came from. While I only shopped around in the lumber containers, I did notice a large selection of slabs and finished boards. The staff is knowledgeable and full of quality suggestions regarding your specific needs based on the project. In my opinion the real gold mine is the scrap bin. I grabbed a few pieces of white oak and walnut that I could use for testing finishes, spline, different inlays, etc. and all for under $5. Safe to say I'll be back soon.
Eric Norris: Beautiful lumber, great people.
Meaghan Wright: Being in the set building side of the film industry, I’ve used a lot of vendors for our different lumber needs and Carolina Urban Lumber takes a top tier seat! Damon and everyone were so amazingly helpful with all of our crazy needs and understood our time crunch and made it happen! Bravo guys! Can’t wait to work with you again. I’ll let ya know when the movie comes out;)
Bryan Hill: I purchased a $500 slab and the wood split within 1 week. I was told “we’re sorry” without any help at a resolution. I’ve worked with them before and been pleased but I was hoping for a little bit better communication with my issue. No reply to my email as well with pictures.
adam baranski: Kristin went above and beyond on our 2 Mantels we ordered. We weren’t happy with one and she made it right. Outstanding customer service and the mantels are gorgeous to say the least.
Brian Zimmerman: Can't say enough great things about Kristen and the team. From guiding us through the slab selection to stains, sheen, and legs, the whole experience was pleasant. We can't stop touching and looking at the table and bench. It is absolutely perfect. Will definitely be coming back for another project soon!
Wes McAdams: LOVE my new table. Damon and his entire team were professional, knowledgeable and clearly passionate about their work and mission. The craftsmanship on our table was impeccable and I will absolutely be coming back to have more items made in the future and referring Carolina Urban Lumber to everyone I can!
mike haas: Kristen was absolutely fantastic. Very helpful. And it was much appreciated.
buddhapeep: Knowledgeable, friendly staff, value and expertise in all things good. To be able to shop in an environment that fosters creativity with people that are friendly and willing to help all skill levels is a relief. Not to mention that anything you purchase carries a detailed history and story behind it.My girlfriend and I are hobbyists and both at a novice level in woodworking and carpentry. On our first visit we were greeted by Kristen who was willing to point us in the direction of several collections of wood that may fit our needs. She let us wonder around, never pressured us, and when we had questions was always there to answer them without judgement. We feel lucky to have found a business that truly cares about the environment, creating beauty, and sharing their expertise. Imagine being a golfer and walking into a golf shop where every club on the rack was the club you have been missing and guaranteed birdies. That’s how we felt finding Carolina Urban Lumber.
Wesley Nickel: The best of the best selection and service offerings in the greater Charlotte area. If you're in need of wood, don't go anywhere else. You will not be disappointed.
Yung Lindenbeck: This place has so many tree options when it comes to life-edge wood or if you need some custom wood pieces created. The people are amazing, knowledgeable and super helpful!Start "stalking" them on facebook to stay up to date on what they have coming out of their kiln. We are proud owners of a beautiful dining table measuring 42" in width by 86" or so in length! They glued 2 pieces of sweet gum pieces, yet you CAN'T see the seam at all - looks like one piece. Also used a life edge walnut piece to create our bar top. We certainly will be back since house project never seem to end.
Jim Kerrigan: I needed a small piece of hardwood to replace a composite piece of wood used in a yard sign. Composite doesn't work outside and sure enough, after less than six months it looked bad. I just stopped by to look, and this place was exactly what I'd dreamt about!I guess it's Kristen at the front who helped me, showed me a rack of scrap pieces. I have access to a full woodshop, so I am set. I ended up with a piece of white oak bigger than I need, for $3. WOW, what fun. I'll be back for bigger projects. Very happy, thank you!
Bill Nelson: I'm a novice wood carver and went to Carolina Urban Lumber a week ago to find a small 10" x 12" hardwood scrap or cut-off to make a plaque. Even though I told Damon my intent upfront, he still gave me a tour of the entire facility and spent over a half hour just talking with me about the various woods, because I know virtually nothing about them. I found a couple pieces of nice ambrosia maple and was floored by how inexpensive they were. I told him I'd be back again! And, sure enough, today was that day. Went back and Kristen helped me to find a couple small pieces of walnut. And, again, knowing that I was only planning to spend a couple bucks, Kristen still took time and treated me like I mattered. Many other businesses would do well to take a page from their book of how to properly treat customers. Love these people and this place. Bill Nelson
Myles Spatz: I’ve been here several times. Kristen at the front is very friendly and helpful. What I like about this place compared to other dealers in Charlotte is that you can sort through the lumber and find what you like. Since it’s not graded it lets you find what you like. Also like the scrap pile outside which I usually take from and can have a fire with it. Thanks again. Myles
james wolf: Great lumber yard in south Charlotte, helpful and passionate about wood. Loved it, plan on buying the walnut for the table I am working on from them

Cope And Stick: what do users think?
Dan Rodgin: BEWARE OF USING COPE AND STICK FOR YOUR PROJECT! THEY WILL NOT COMPLETE YOUR JOB ON TIME , IF EVER, AND WILL LIE TO YOU ALONG THE WAY. I went there asking them to make a simple Oak bar top and matching shelves over 2 months ago. They gave me a price and said it would be ready in 2 weeks. They required payment in full. After three weeks went by, I called and asked how the progress was going. I was told that they were having issues with their machinery. They said it would be done at the end of the week. I followed up a week later and they said they didn’t like the wood and had to use a different piece and it would be another few days. I called a week later and was told that the shelves were done but they just just started working on the bar top. I called a week later and they came up with another excuse and asked if I really needed it now?? I said yes! They said it would be done by the end of the week, and that they would call. No call. I called yesterday to inquire again, and they said it was ready to be picked up. I drove over an hr away to pick it up today. I arrived and they took me to look at it. The shelves were not completed and looked nothing like we had agreed on. I then asked about the bar top. They hadn’t even started it! They had no excuse. This was now 2 months. They just said” This sometimes happens in manufacturing. “ They did agree to refund my money with a lackluster “Sorry about that. “This business is poorly run , unprofessional, and incompetent. They lied throughout the process and never completed the job. I would highly recommend you google someone more reputable and reliable.
John Boido: Best customer service! You need millwork? This is the place!
Heather Fish: Me and my husband researched places to check out for our custom lift top table project and Cope and Stick had good reviews. We went there to look around and hopefully speak to someone about our project, but the designer Billy was not there that day. They said they believed he would be in the next Monday (we went on a Saturday). So, we called that Monday around one and they said he was at lunch or left for the day? Two different things. We said OK, we will call tomorrow. So, we call the next day and my husband speaks to the owner who isn't sure.where Billy is. OK. We call the next day and end up leaving a message with a gentleman named Nikolas and asked him to have Billy call us. Crickets. No call back. We understand he was busy doing other projects, but not getting a call back showed lack of interest and care in what we are doing . Were we not spending enough money on our project for you ?We should have at least gotten a call back. We ended up going on Angi and finding someone very quickly who WANTS to help people out. Very rude. But the owners were nice, it is Billy that is rude.
liv: Cope & Stick has a huge selection. They're super knowledgeable and go the extra mile to help you choose the right piece of wood. A lot of hard work goes into it and it shows!
J.R. Arhtur: Lots of cool wood!
Phillip Davis: If I could select one star I would. Completely stiffed by this company when selling them reclaimed wood. 2.5 loads of timber shipped to these people over 8 months ago. Ducking and dodging calls no response to emails, no payment. Very bad business.
Ashley Starcher: Unique farm/rustic and French style finds. Custom builds and a very friend and family oriented business!
james jaunakais: If you're looking for fine/ aged wood, barn doors, wooden columns, and furniture look no further! They have lots of aged and weathered barn wood. They have an excellent selection overall. The facility is clean, and staffed by knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly folks. Yes, it costs more than new lumber sold at home depot and it's well worth it! They even helped me load the wood I bought: As a carpenter, It was a pleasure to find such quality wood at a good price. I ended up buying around 150 square feet of some absolutely incredible Rainbow Poplar. It was aged and weathered perfectly, and all very straight boards- all rough sawn cut. Perfect for my accent wall project! The end result is better than I hoped! Awesome place!
Thomas Bogan: Unique place. Rough natural worn wood for your remodel projects. Heads up, they are moving locations to plaza midwood soon 11/11/19
John Smith: Superb place to get quality reclaimed lumber. Great selection, nice dudes and super helpful
Shawn Weathers: This place is amazing. Love love love what they do.....
Michael Freeland: Billy is a true craftsman!

Carolina Wood Designs: what do users think?
Anthony Monago: Mike did a great job with our built in cabinets and bench in our sunroom. Makes a world of difference in our house. Quality, timely and a great value. Thanks again!
Lynn Weber: Mike was great to work with. Very talented. The project was finished very quickly. The attention to detail was spot on. Will definitely be using him for future projects.
Sandra Patrick: Mike was super responsive and kind! I can't thank him enough for being willing to come out and look at my cabinet trim issue and for resolving it without it needing extra work.
Nicholas Popp: After researching many cabinet companies ranging from big corporate companies to custom cabinetry work; Carolina Wood Designs and Mike were the best value, best quality, and most responsive in communication. I envisioned a certain look for my child's playroom and he brought it to life in a way that blew my vision out of the water. The quality of Mike's work is beyond anything I have ever seen. I went into plenty of cabinet show rooms and his cabinets, the finish, the soft close hinges everything was well above the quality I saw elsewhere. We highly highly recommend Mike and Carolina Wood Designs. We even joke that if/when we move we will be detaching them from the walls and taking them with us because we love them so much!
Kenan Bateman: Mike was absolutely amazing to work with from start to finish. If I could give him more than 5 stars I would. My wife and I were looking for someone to build a custom cabinet and had a design in mind to match some other curves in our existing furniture. We reached out to Mike and he helped us through all of our questions. We had a lot of specifications in paint color, finish, how the doors and drawers opened / closed, the design, etc. And he helped us through every step. We even changed the measurements on him late in the process, and he gave us a new design. He then got the whole thing built quicker than he said he would and brought it to us. Working with Mike was perfect start to finish.
Megan Reed: Mike created a custom shiplap window bench for us. It turned out beautifully. Throughout the whole process, Mike was helpful, prompt, responsive and great to work with. We're thrilled with how it turned out.
Rachael Hayes: I found Michael online and reached out to him regarding making my husband and I a live edge dining table. We LOVE the table that Michael made and can't wait to make many memories around it. Michael was very easy to work with, very responsive, and delivered the table to our house. We're so impressed with his work, that we're likely going to get him to work with us on more projects for our house!
Bobby Chapman: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,ResponsivenessMike worked with us to build a drop zone based on the picture from their website and it came out great! Very happy with the look and quality. Would use again!
Jenifer Spencer: It was such a pleasure to work with Mike! He took an inspiration photo I was hoping to model and made a custom set of corn hole boards that was so much better than I could have hoped for! We will definitely be working with Carolina Wood Designs again on future projects. Thank you, Mike!
Tony Torres: I gotta say I purchased a product from Mike this past week and it was a truly a pleasurable experience. From the time I called I asked when will it be shipped he said tomorrow and sure enough it was shipped the next day.I received the product and had some questions as soon as I called he picked up and talked me through all my concerns and confusion.Mike and Carolina wood designs are top notch!!!Tony TorresMiami Fl
Linda Roberts: Mike has done excellent work for our family on several occasions. The latest project was a built in cabinet in our den. We have found him to be patient, resourceful, and meticulous as he approaches a project. We are very proud to show off his work, and his attention to detail pleases my engineer husband.
Steven Brown: Thanks to Carolina Wood Designs (Mike) my first woodworking project with my (teen) son was a success. Just what I needed to get him away from the Video games. Naturally the family and friends wanted one, and practice makes perfect so the builds continue. I'm hoping he makes more templates available. Maybe a side table or leg rest.
Tiffany Zeszutek: Carolina Wood Design has done several jobs for us and I highly recommend them! I've loved everything Mike has created for us from barn doors, shelving to fireplace mantle. Everything he does is custom and attention to detail is amazing. I get so many compliments on the pieces Carolina Wood Design has built for us.
David Ranson: Unbelievable attention to detail. Has done multiple projects for us and always over deliver and under promise. I just keep coming back. No projoect to big.
Dan Yackeren: Mike at Carolina Wood Designs built us 2 matching Punisher chairs for our new outside addition. We couldn't be happier. These things are BAD A$$!!
Josh Jacobson: I must say how extraordinarily impressed I am by Mike's work from Carolina Wood Designs. When we decided we wanted to get a custom cabinet made to house our new electronic dart board, we looked all over for someone who could realize our vision. Then we found Carolina Wood Designs.Mike came to our home and gave us a fair cost estimate for the project, and really understood what we were trying to accomlplish. The cabinet is perfect, with motion-sensor light and built-in storage for darts and rubber mat. It is very high quality, custom-made and impressive. We would highly recommend his work and will likely use him again for other custom woodwork projects.
