North Star Stables: what do users think?
Richard Noel: Great farm 🚜 with great staff!
Kimberly O'Callaghan: I have been a repeat boarder of NSE and have boarded my performance horses here for many, many years - approximately 10 years in total and counting. The stalls are immaculate, the feed top quality, the pastures maintained, and there are arena lights in both arenas for those of us who work during the day. Rob and Mike are amazing to talk to and very responsive and accommodating. Yes, you have to buy some things a la carte (blanketing, fly masks), but it's a small extra price to pay for the cost of board. The pros: clean stalls, clean water buckets, attentive care, lights in the arena to ride by, jumps and a dressage arena, easily accessible trailer parking. Dr. Krivit periodically goes through and keeps an eye on body weight to make sure they are getting enough to eat. Mike and Rob (manager and owner, respectively) are very attentive and responsive and take care of concerns immediately. Warm water in wash racks, good area for farriers to work. Lounge with microwaves and refrigerator. Heated/cooled office. Very careful with introducing new horses to the herd to prevent issues (aggressive horses, parasites, etc). Large, brightly lit jump arena with good footing. Full-sized dressage arena with letters with great turf footing. The cons: yes, you will give up your stall occasionally for transporters, This was a problem right after the pandemic when EVERYONE was moving their horse; now, not so much. The charges a la carte are annoying, but not bad. Jumps and poles could be better maintained - there are just barely enough for a partial course. Biggest con (for me) is that they do not do night turnout during the heat of the summer, which all high-end barns do. However, they do not charge for fans, which helps offset this issue. If you are an involved horse owner, or performance-driven, this is a great facility. The people are warm and friendly and there is a great atmosphere where everybody feels welcome. Highly recommend.
Sadie Fox: This is my aunts business she is an amazing vet and has some amazing horses. Her daughter willow is an amazing horseback rider i really recommend her. She has some amazing horses
Steven Guimond: Beautiful place and people were very nice.
Lisandra Valentin: Stables are clean well ventilated staff if definitely very nice and helpful! Great place.....going to start lessons for my daughter's very soon
Patrick Nobley: Awesome as always. Been stopping there twice a year for 7 years. Great place with great people. Thank you Rob.
Karen Miller: Went to a Charlotte Cannon clinic at North Star. The footing in the arena was great, especially considering all the rain we had had all the way up to the day before. The staff was very accommodating, and Dr. Kim was genuinely interested in how we thought everything was going.
Vicki Austin: I can't begin to tell of the wonderful care they provide at North Star Stables!! I am not the easiest horse owner to work with, have my own ideas about horse care , but they go above and beyond to make me and Woody comfortable and happy ! And you can go there 24/7 to check on your horse / ride in the lighted arena. They truly are there for horse and rider.
Willow chase: North Star Stables is such a class facility. From the wonderful care that the attention to detail staff provide for every horse to the family feeling you get while boarding here. Not to mention the relief it is to have our 24 hour North Star Veterinary Hospital right next door. With two riding arenas, trails surrounding our farm, and the relaxation of knowing your horse is in the best hands, your needs and wishes are sure to be easily fulfilled.
Luis Valentin: Loving it
Gabrielle Wheat: BOARDERS BEWARE! DO NOT board at North Star in Parkton, NC. Let me begin by saying I signed a boarding contract with North Star that clearly states my horse must be up to date on all shots while boarding at their facility. I thought that with North Star being a boarding facility and vet clinic it would be nice but I was wrong in every way. About a month ago, I received an invoice for a McMasters test that I did not authorize. I spoke to the HR person at the vets office, explained I didn’t authorize them to test my horse. She explained to me that its something that is just done for all the horses being boarded in the fall (something that is not in the contract). He had just had a McMasters done 4 months prior when he got there. I told her to remove the charges, which was done, and that I would take care of deworming my own horse when I got back into town in 2 weeks. I then received an email from the doctor at the vet stating that she was going out that day to deworm the horses that were high in egg count. I replied to the email, stating once again, I didn’t authorize it to be done and I would be there to deworm him. I spoke to the owner of the facility and explained to him that I didn’t appreciate North Star running test or giving my horse anything that I didn’t authorize without my permission or contacting me first. I explained that I was abiding by the contract, I would be down that weekend to deworm my horse. The following week after deworming my horse, the barn manager was not satisfied with the dewormer I used and stated that I was informed to use Quest (which I was not). He removed my horse and isolated him into a paddock with no shelter or shade despite me deworming him until I dewormed him with Quest. That weekend I moved my horse from North Star where I was provided 1 bale of hay and 1 bag of feed. When I asked to get more hay to help transition him, the owner informed me that he didn’t have to give me anything. Think twice before boarding at this facility. North Star claimed to provide care for my horse but because they were upset with me they took it out on him. Its cruel to say the least.
Aixa Valentin: Fantastic experience with a horse name Stetson!!! The stables are so clean and animals well taken care of. I was able to meet a new friend named "Bobby". He is brown and holds his head up with pride, handsome!!!!
ServiceStar Professional Cleaning: This is a nice & spacious Stable which is located next to North Star Veterinary Hospital. The Trainer was very kind, informative and patient. The Owners were just as pleasant as my visit at North Star Staples.I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Legocoach Frantz: Fantastic, reliable, and consistent care keeps our horses happy and healthy
Janos Laszlo: The best place for overnight stay over with horses. It is our favorite. The crew is amazing. They waited up for us until 1 AM when we got delayed due to traffic and weather. Eddy is a man of his word. If only more people would be like that, this world would be a better place.
Petric Meyer: We used to be clients of NSE Dr. Krivitt has taken care of several of our animals over the years, that being said we will no longer use her services due to her associate Vets Dr. Robeson and Dr. Geoff. The later has no bed side manner or compasion plus he is rude. The other one Dr. Robeson, came out to check on our horse, she told us he had a colic and she needed to tube him, it took her several tries she looked and acted scared and unsure. Finally she has the tube in place she turns looks at me scared and says I think I am in his stomach but I might be in his lungs. I was shocked to hear that come out of a vet working on my beloved horse, all I could think was you better make damn sure where you are before you administer all of this liquid, and please someone call a real vet that knows what they are doing. So next to NSE the stables, if you are thinking about going to move your horses there be advised that your horse will spend a lot of nights outside due to transporters coming through. That means in plain eglish the barn will double dip on your stall that you are paying for. Commuication is non existenting so you have to check every day. My horses have spent more time outside then in their stalls during my time there as a boarder. During heavy rains no hay is being offered to the horses but they are forced to be outside in temperatures of 30 degrees for at least 8 hours, so when they came in they were shivering. Pastures are flooded all the time which makes them very unsafe for horses and humans not to mention makes the hay moldy. Rob the barn manger has a major attitude I was promised all kinds of things and everything that was promised was dismissed once the boarding contract was signed.I was told that I needed to pay an additional fee of $30 a month on top of my full board if I wanted blankets taken of in the am after my stall was being used for a transporter and my horse was left outside again. Horses were not fed hay every day when left outside, after questioning that I was told and I quote " Oh I don't throw hay every day I let them clean up the litte stuff and then tomorrow or so throw some more". Mind you the temps that night were 17 degrees. So to sum it up I paid for all the amenities but didn't receive any. My horse and I left before our 30 day notice was up. Rob had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to buy hay and grain prior to leaving, I looked at him and said no thank you even though you owe me hay and grain for another 8 days. My horses are in a wonderful place now with people who care about the well being of horses and animals. I will not miss this nightmare of a boarding facility, and can't recommend it in good conscience.
Patrick Pet: This barn's staff runs like clockwork, and my horse is very well taken care of. Literally next door is the North Star Veterinary Hospital, and I never have to worry about getting a vet out there in case of an emergency. The stalls are cleaned very thoughly, horses treated with love, well kept pastures, sense of community, and the staff is always on the same page (good management/communication system). It is hard to please in the horse community, and these guys do great, deserve solid 5 stars!
Edward A Gushlaw Jr: Very nice and well kept barn after all the renovations. Pastures are large and green and thick. Nice lighted arena. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Vanessa Kovach-Bowman: Excellent. My horses have been at NSE since 2006 and everything about my boarding experience at NSE has been positive. The facility is very well managed with exceptionally clean, safe grounds, pastures and barn. The horses receive fantastic care from a team that is devoted to ensuring they are healthy and happy. Having North Star Veterinary Hospital and the Barn Manager co-located with the stables adds the convenience and peace of mind of having a first class on-site veterinary care provider and 24-hour oversight of the facility. The amenities are also great with an illuminated riding ring, multiple round-pens, wash/grooming racks with hot and cold water and even non-ring riding options. I highly recommend NSE Stables as a place where you and your horse are treated with the best of both worlds that combines professional service in a family atmosphere.

Freedom Farms: what do users think?
Ashley Jacobs: Lovely
Brian Delrosario: The landowner, Alex, hosted a memorial event on Fri., Dec. 3rd, 2021. We honored the fallen, heard a chaplain, spent time with each other as veterans and family, camped out, and had a great time. Thanks, Alex.
Tea Cates: Absolute Godsend!! Amazing Youth English Trainer! Our daughter takes english riding lessons here (it will be a year this September). We are in love with their trainer Alyssa, she is phenomenal with our 12 year old daughter. The pastures/trails/arena are great, the barn is large and open, and the boarders are always so friendly while we are there for lessons. This place is soooo picturesque and serene, great atmosphere, we love it! Our son loves tagging along so he can visit with their resident donkey 💕
Shelby Dunford: A wonderful peaceful barn with wonderful care and a great trainer as well. It’s a very relaxing and casual barn with access to lessons, trails, wash room, tack room, and a bathroom with a shower. Plenty of room for the horses to enjoy themselves as well as their owners/riders. You will feel welcomed and like family if you are looking for a laid back enjoyable barn with a nice view this is your place!
