Ralph Laurel: I took lessons for two years here when I lived in Fayetteville. Carlos is a wonderful guitar teacher and friend of mine. Highly recommend for anyone who is wanting to finally learn guitar.

She is an amazing instructor and so patient. Carlos, her husband, teaches guitar to all ages. You will not find two finer musicians/instructors anywhere. Beyond piano and guitar they offer lessons in several other instruments as well as voice. I cannot think of a greater gift than the gift of music. FAYSOM just does it the best!!!!

Amy Steffan: FaySOM is a very special place for musicians of all ages and skill levels!Not only does my daughter treasure her lesson time and the congenial environment, but she has top drawer instruction and support of her goals. We have been at FaySOM since day one, and what I do notice at every recital - one to the next- is how much each and every student has improved technically and musically. Not only do I get to see my child grow up improving semester to semester… but we see that in the other FaySOM students as well. Despite the recent restrictions of COVID, the directors and teachers at Fayetteville School of Music are building a community of musicians, young and “old” who are mutually appreciative of each others’ successes and achievements. It is a wonderful and caring environment which yields meaningful results in educating musicians.
Matthew Banks: I have been taking guitar lessons for over two years with Dr. Castilla, which has been an excellent experience. I highly recommend Fayetteville School of Music. I really appreciate Dr. Castilla's expert knowledge, patience, and teaching methods. I started as an adult beginner and have not only greatly improved my guitar skills, but also learned to read music, learned timing, recognize relative pitches and perform in front of others. We have explored multiple genres of music from concert music to classic rock. Dr. Castilla is professional and punctual. He is a gifted musician and also highly skilled at teaching. Meghan Engle: I cannot say enough wonderful things about FaySOM and the instructors! My son started piano lessons when he was just over 5 and I have been amazed at the progress he has made in the course of two years. His teacher, Mr. Andrew, is so kind and patient and makes an effort to connect with my son on interests outside of piano lessons to keep him engaged and excited about learning. Dr. Carlos, the director, is also just a fantastic human who welcomes our family each visit and encourages the kids in their lessons. These highly talented and credentialed musicians are such a gem here in Fayetteville!
Elizabeth Horton: Dr. Carlos Castilla is a fabulous guitar instructor. He taught our son how to play an acoustic guitar in the classical style, and then he also worked with him on learning the electric guitar as our son's interests changed. He's incredibly patient and knowledgable, and just a really excellent teacher. He's truly the best!

Rusty Russell: Dr. Castilla is an accomplished guitarist and a great teacher. He relates to all music styles and teaches using a variety of methods such as word pictures, feelings, rhythms, precision techniques while at the same time making it interesting, challenging and fun. I always come away inspired by him to do my best. I've been to several recitals and see that he has this gift for all students whether young or old like me. :)
Reynaldo Molina: Great teachers, I took guitar classes from Carlos and my daughter piano from his wife Amanda and she has learned alot in a short period, we are very happy and we will continue with them, I strongly recommend them both.
Shannon Harris: I feel like my child is getting a strong foundation and education in guitar from Dr. Castilla. We have been through a few teachers and Dr. Castilla is the best. He seem to take a lot of pride in what he does and he can come off as pretty serious and direct. That being said, my child was a little intimidated at first but warmed to him and his teaching style within the first 2 classes. He is kind and caring of his students.
