Matthew Pope: What a big let down. I carried my house plan in McDonald Lumber Co to have a salesman quote me on building materials. The salesman first asked me if I had previously contacted any other building supply companies, which shouldn’t matter. I responded yes I had talked to another building supply company but I like to shop around for the best quality for a reasonable price. The salesman told me to just go with the other company… He was very rude, his tone was terrible for customer service and I felt rushed. The words “ I don’t have time” were used which surprised me coming from someone in sales. I was made to feel like I was small business and he had bigger customers. So the other building supply company will get my business they were great.

I ask him if I could check out the wood before I pay for it, his exact words were, “it’s plywood, what is there to see?”, while shaking his head. When I purchase things I would like to see what I’m purchasing, isn’t that reasonable? At that moment I knew I didn’t want to have any type of business with that employee.

Tim Campbell: My wife and I were renovating an historic home in Haymount. We were in need of door handles with different metal finishes inside vs outside. These are rare and are manufactured by Emtek for a premium price. The company directed us to McDonald Lumber as a retailer.Our doors were unique. We needed assistance choosing the correct fit and look for the house. After waiting 30 mins to speak to a manager that staff said “knows Emtek” a fellow, clearly distracted, heard the request. His help? “Just go online and pick it out and we will order it”. Then walked away.Ok…we were there since we needed suggestions on what would fit. We’d been online for hours looking.These locks are expensive. $800 to $1000 each often. I’m sure the “retailer” gets a percentage of that cost. We needed four.Long story short we found the ones we needed by consulting the company and avoiding McDonald.We do miss Highland Lumber Company in Fayetteville. We were always treated respectfully and kindly. We spent thousands with them over the years and they were an honest and well managed company.Now Fayetteville only has Ace, Lowe’s, and Home Depot. No more local customer service.As we continue to renovate homes there’s no local company to work with. McDonald Lumber clearly has horrendous management. Have no idea how they survive.We’d heard rumors about their management in the past but now we know. We won’t be back

I read online that Lowe’s donates specifically to Eagle projects. That place was a run around with a change of managers and after 5 visits we had all but given up. Someone mentioned 84 lumber. I called and instantly had service. Nathan Smallwood was amazing to communicate with. My son made communication with a specific list of need. 84 Lumber was AMAZING!! We drove to pick up the lumber after school on Friday. I’m so glad we didn’t take our time. 84 Lumber is not open on the weekends or late. Check their time schedule! Also right now, they are taking extra precautions because of COVID. The showroom is closed and you must call to enter. I will build a shed this year and I will call 84 lumber first!!! Thank you! Your service and community support is amazing!

Tommy Hall: I've purchased quite a bit of material from 84 Lumber since 2010 with mixed feelings. For the most part I have been satisfied with the materials I've purchased although their treated lumber isn't the best. I still call 84 Lumber before I purchase materials for a project and they are usually cheaper than the big box stores. I have been very pleased with their clearance materials including vinyl windows, doors, laminated lvl beams, and treated piles.

Oh, these guys can really talk you up on the phone & in person, while the entire time if you are picking up, they are loading your trailer up with rhe worst lumber ever & if they deliver, it's covered up, & they are hoping you are either to stupid to check it out and/or perhaps your framer would also be an idiot & not care; stay away from 84 Lumber in Fayetteville, NC, I bought & paid for rotted lumber that smelled so bad, we have to move it over from the job site after it was delivered, when I called & requested for it to be picked up & replaced (key word requested),I was told they didn't know when that could happen, are you kidding me? That's when I demanded it be picked up immediately, was still advised they could not give me a date, spoke to an associate manager & he advised the same! Buyers beware, do not use 84 Lumber for any of your needs!!

Will: the builder of my home purchased equipment from 84 lumber. on the 7 November 2016 i ordered and paid for a sliding screen door. one month later a door arrived at the store i opened the box and the screen door was damaged. the guy said he will over night another screen door. today is the 6th of feb. the last time i called to inquire about my door a person told me he thought i already received my door and my invoice was closed. this is beyond incompetent.

Carol Burns: I drove 30 minutes to be greeted by an open gate with a particle board sign reading "closed today for inventory". Are you closed on fridays or was this inventory day on a whim? The friday hours read open online and on the hours sign on the fence. Very frustrating and inconvenient.

However, when I visited Ramsey's Lowes to return the last one, Vanessa went above and beyond to assist me. Not only did she facilitate the exchange for a new grill, but she also provided me with a discount and even offered to have the replacement loaded into my vehicle. The Ramsey store will probably be the one I’ll shop at for now on. If you see Vanessa give her a hey and buy her an ice cold Frappuccino!

(Please abserve customer return cameras 6/28/23 between 5:30-6:30est, Hispanic man, Native female with child)-all employees conducting business to resolve matters assured us that "it's not possible"-2 receipts were presented by us, 1 of which was our original receipt, and 1 of which was a copy of a receipt obtained by calling customer service toll free number, as we provided our debit info. They were able to disclose all transactions and provide receipts of all transactions on said day of dispute.*our honest claim is that we were in store and purchased $65.78 in merchandise, and was also charged a fraudulent charge of $77.85 on the same day. We have one original receipt and both copies of original and fraud receipt obtained buy customer service corporate toll free number after providing our debit info. Please note on both receipts that a different name is displayed. Manager who spoke to us and promised to resolve issue by contacting area manager, name tag was Gerry. He told us Kevin was the area manager. We ask that cameras on date of transaction are viewed.Receipts will gladly be provided as they are already obtainable via in store or corporate. I will not give up until this matter is resolved. I will exaust all avenues and will never use a manner of which that is not fair or unprofessional.

ABNSTNGR 87: My Wife and I our purchased a samsung range and microwave. We also paid for installation of the range. The delivery team was challenged in most areas. Initially, I received a call stating they would arrive in 10 minutes. It was 20 minutes. Secondly, they seemingly had severe challenges with speaking american and communication was horrible. Thirdly, they were challenged with installing the range. When I requested it be leveled, they began to speak spanish and complain. I replied in spanish and told them to level the range. They tried but "didn't" have the tools to complete the task.Finally, upon leaving, they left Styrofoam, screws, water bottles and other trash in front my neighbors and my home. All on home security cameras. I had to re-install and level the range because of the horrible installation jobl. I would not recommend a Lowes installation to anyone at this time.The range and microwave are working very well.

We asked for help loading and Mike, who I believe is a loading Pro because that's the vest he was wearing, came out shortly thereafter and loaded the pallet for us right into our pick up truck. We call him #s of times, connect Lowe’s about it, and no response from their contract gutter guy. So we hired another gutter installer company, they came out and did an excellent the job installing the gutters on our house. So that being said, Lowes needs to hire contractors that hold up to their words not lying to customers. Besides that we still like shopping at Lowes for other items, not doing business with gutter contract installers anymore.

Draco McDonald: Quick getting you what you need. However be careful in appliance center, they will tell you what you ordered but the wrong color doesn't arrive. You go back to the store and say that color isn't available. You say okay and they won't deliver your purchase again. Bait and switch.

Older people who work there are always trying to help costumers.There is one older guy who cuts glass and wires at electric section and I have to give him credit because he is always there and very smart about his sections.I want to work there to help people, but I don’t think I can do it with that many lazy workers who is there just for paycheck.

Long story short, ordered one of the last 2 available doors in the entire South East (it seemed) and drove from Greer, SC to Fayetteville where I was greeted by Amanda & Jason who where the only two employees that day. Not only did they both help to get this massive door/sidelights out of the store, but assisted in loading the 60" door unit onto my pick-up truck which was no small feat. Both of them literally work out a solution to what looked to be a serious problem in being able to transport it back home. You had to see what we were facing, but I can tell you Amanda & Jason came up with a plan right there in the parking lot and made it possible! I drove there and back in one shot and could not be more grateful that it was Amanda & Jason (the only two people I met in Fayetteville that day) who were there to provide the most professional, out-of-their-way help I could have received. They are a credit to the entire Home Outlet corporation. That is for sure! Thank you for the 12th time Amanda & Jason!! -GABE

Heading to Lowe’s now to buy from them because they aren’t a bunch of crooks. Seriously though I can’t stress enough not to go to this location!!!

Scott Meinhardt (Capture Vintage): This is the absolute worst store to order from online. If you need delivery seek a different path. I cannot recommend that any more! I ordered a patio door that sat in the store for three weeks after they failed to deliver it, and failed to reschedule until I called. I called to have it rescheduled, got it rescheduled for delivery, and then they failed to deliver it once again. Then they wanted to reschedule the delivery for a third time, and I decided to seek a different path. Save yourself the drama and go somewhere else. I could not be any more irritated.

Ashlee Maier: Went in for some paint today, Mr. Matthew was very helpful today. Very nice and very knowledgeable of his stuff. Can't say the same for Ms. Jacquie at the front end check out.. I wasn't aware of the military/phone number change thing they did in February, and she wasn't the most helpful. I asked at the end of her words if I could sign up and she told me to call a 1800 number. That doesn't bother me. What bothered me is HOW she was speaking to me.. over the years of making my home better with the product of Lowe's I think I should at least get someone who talks to me with actual respect.. not the side eye respect, if that makes sense. Tone and demeanor is very important in customer service. I did let her know she needed better customer service skills.. Please please please do not continue to talk to people in the sense you did ma'am. Not everyone will be nice about it. Have a great day.

Edward Munroe: Horrible customer service on two separate occasions. When trying to get information on a high end grill the representative assisting me said the grill wasn’t in stock (later found out they had 2) and had the attitude that she couldn’t care less if I purchased it (too busy on her cellphone).Went back the next day to purchase a $$$$ zero turn lawnmower and stood outside in 100° heat waiting on a customer service representative for 30 minutes that never showed up. Gladly took my business elsewhere.

Alex W: Terrible customer service ask three people for help looking for a tiny, portable fan, and everybody seem like they were offended that I asked for help.

Logan Higgins: I understand staffing in retail is an issue as of late. But to take over an hour to find someone to drop a pallet of material in the outside lawn and garden area during July 4th time is appalling. I’m a former Lowe’s employee and can’t even imagine the chewing I’d receive from management if I conducted this level of customer service.

Tony: Took an hour & a half to pick up $1000 worth of items this morning when I was told the order was ready last night. Two phone calls from the parking lot and one demand to speak to a manager still did not result in getting all the items I’d ordered in an undamaged manner. Trash can was provided without lid, item in stock on website was cancelled later due to actually being out of stock. They offered one of the grills out front that sit in the weather all the time instead of one in a box, and would that fit in my car? Are you kidding me, lady? You saw my car. I can’t speak for in-store shopping, but don’t get curbside until they hire competent people to run it.

vu tran: The delivery was delay , the items that was delivered when delay all have something wrong with them . And when we called the delivery team they keep saying that someone will called us in 24h , but that never happens . We have been in this cycle now for 3 to 4 times . WILL NOT BE BYING FROM THEM AGAIN .

Jackie Jacobs: Twice I have bought appliances from Lowe's that were not delivered on the date promised. After waiting for hours for deliveries that never happened, I was not contacted either time to let me know of an alternate time or date of delivery. My time on both occasions was wasted.
