Public Works Commission: what do users think?
Anna Sloan: We had a power outage late last night & by the time I called they were already tracking it. They had our power restored shortly thereafter, even with it being the middle of the night & a storm outside. Very impressed and thankful for their hard work!
Robert Broz: For what it’s worth, their customer service is extremely helpful and swift. Thank you to Vickie and Christoper for being thorough with me.
Chris H: Since I bought my home and started service in March 2022, the basic fees before any actual use went from around 90 dollars to $111 for January 2023. My electricity, water, and sewer usage was $82, so the total bill was $192. During spring and fall when I didn't have to use the heat or AC a lot, the basic fees would end up being double or more of my actual usage. Every month the basic fees have increased. At the current rate of $111 basic fees, that's $1,332 a year in just basic fees before using any electricity or water. They also charge the same sewer usage gallons as the incoming fresh water. So that means if your washing a car, watering the lawn, or filling a pool, your charged for all those gallons even though it's not going back through the sewer like the sink, shower, and toilet, pipes. I've only had to call 2 or 3 times for initial service activation and general questions, and they were friendly and helpful. They could greatly increase the review score across the board if the fees weren't so high and continuing to increase monthly. I'm billed as "out of city limits," so I'm not sure how the basic fees are compared to "in city limits.""***As of May 2023, the base fees are now 119.45 before any usage starts. Every single month, the base fees have been higher than my actual usage fees. Went up 30 dollars in a year and a half.
Jan Morgan: I just purchased a van from the Fayetteville Public Works department. Everyone I spoke to was extremely courteous, professional, and helpful. It was a seamless transaction. They worked with me on scheduling pickup and every other part of the transaction. I would be happy to work with them anytime.
B. Wheatley: Would give this company negative stars if possible. Simply crooks.28$ "out of area "(UPDATE those fees are now 38$ so 72$ before even a drop of water is used ). usage fees tacked onto both water and sewer. Outrageous rates . Nowhere have we ever lived in this country except Hawaii where our water bill was so high. You pay more misc bogus fees than you do for usage and any usage is billed at an extreme rate. They have had numerous complaints but continue to rip people off. Well when your corrupt company is run by people who sit on a board and all have monetary connections no doubt skimming off our fees, this is what you get. This town is beyond corrupt
Perry Burke: So I’m in the middle of selling my house and I moved out my house. During that time apparently I had a water leak in my house and PWC turned my water off and I’m grateful for that. I called them and informed them of what happen and they told me when I come back to call and they will come back and turn my water back on. Well I call them and they assured me that someone will be there shortly to turn my services back on. It has been 6 hours and still no sign of them. It takes you 10 seconds or less to turn a person water on. But let you get behind on your bill they will be at your house bright and early to disconnect your services. I know they have a schedule but having someone wait 6 plus hours for a ten second job is ridiculous.
Castaway: Horrible just horrible
Tiffany Shipman: I have been in my home for a little over 2yrs and my total bill has not been less then 200 dollars. The past 3 or 4 months my bills ranged from 300 to 500 and nothing has been resolved. It is ridiculous.
Sabrina Brascomb: Lights always goin out smh
Michael lubinski: Still trash, was once again removed from auto pay, was once again not called about a missed payment and was once again disconnected. If this leads to the harm of my pets, I will seek actions against this company
Dean M: Super quick and easy to get hooked up. Very friendly customer service and I've never had huge swings in bills from one season to the next. The only reason I can figure they have a low rating is from people who don't pay their bills on time.
Marina Shelton: PWC is a imposing flat rate fees for swewage only custumers. When I called to let them know I am tired of paying twice as much for sewage as I am paying for my water bill I was told they set a flat rate and I can go talk to the commission when they meet once a month. This should not have to happen. This is a communist way to impose unfair price to the taxpayer. I am extremely dissapointed in PWC
Marie: This company robs people. They are absolute trash.
Cristo Es Fiel: A bunch of CROOKS. Absolutely disgusted with how they steal. I pay on time, always treat people respectfully, and am very responsible. Yet, when I paid ahead of time for my next bill and the usual cost (and should have had at LEAST 70 dollars and 40 cents left over), suddenly my charges for the month for only 14 days of service compared to an entire month which I have paid much less for in the past has GONE UP by exactly 70 dollars and 40 cents. Shame on you guys for being so nasty. How did my usage supposedly go up by 40% for water and electric for only a 14 day period as compared to a full month as I have always paid? Wicked company. Cannot wait to leave this trash hole called Fayetteville.
Shamara Chisolm: So I’m confused on how my power is cut off for a PAST DUE balance that I was never notified of the lady told me I was called and emailed on MARCH 9th but mind you there is NO RECORD of that on my call logs or my email. It’s ridiculous I’m thinking that there’s a power outage and they done cut me off. If I could switch from here I WOULD. My kids in here no heat no NOTHING.
Ryan Swaffar: First time using them. Got account setup over the phone. Got what I needed to setup an online account over the phone and was able to create an account minutes after the call ended. Never a wait to get a hold of customer service; I’ve called a few times at random times of the day to check on the status of the water activation and the sort.My deposit was $0 🤷🏽. I was warned my deposit could be as high as $400 something dollars but when they ran my credit score, nothing due upfront I was told (so far at least 😅), just a $20 activation fee or something. From what I gather, the deposit is based off your credit score, so heads up there right? If it’s good, your golden. If it’s below average (not necessarily because you did anything wrong but your young and still building it up), be prepared to submit a little upfront to get started.
Veronica Lake: If it could, it would be 0 stars. I have been with PWC since 2000. Things seemed to have changed from about 2017 . I started this personal inquiry because it affects my hard earned money. My husband went in person to pay the PWC Bill. He paid what the PWC clerk stated that was owed, 107.33; as oppose to the amount across from Total Amount Due, 128.give and take the change. So, now the difference of an estimate of 21. plus change is carried over to Feb s Bill. My husband stated the clerk insisted that 107.33 was the total bill., which is now 161.76. So, I asked the clerk why and where is 21. plus change coming from? She stated that because the bill was due on the 13 Jan and we paid it the 18 of Jan, it transferred to Febs bill. Eventhough the late fee was 5.43.A couple of problems I have are, 1 my due date is supposed to be the 15th of each month. I was told they couldn't give me the the exact due date. However, it would be close.which is when she explained the reasoning of the due date in conjunction with the bill being generated. She also stated that the grace period would cover it if I didn't pay on the exact due date of the bill. So, I excepted the 13th due date thinking we were good moving forward. It's only until my husband went and paid this bill that their reasoning for how this bill balloon as it does that I understand the dynamics behind this scheme. While we were 1 day behind the bill being generated the bill ballooned from 148. change to 269.09.: this included the questionable $21. and change transferred to Feb bill, making it look like a total of $269.09. So, my next question or concern is because I am use to operating under a grace period what am I supposed to do now; because if the bill is due on the 13th and paid on the 15th, a 5.43 or a percentage of the total bill for late chages will be accessed, knowing this, why is it that PWC personnel can't pinpoint a steady date, excluding holidays of coarse, as to when the bill generates since it seems to tie in with the economics or and dynamics of how PWC generates these bogus bills. To get the $269 and change, they added the 107.33, paid and the 161.76. Not to mention, it is in big bold blue back ground and capital white numerics of 269.09 that is owed. The clerk stated to me that she was repeating herself by giving the same answer and she wasn't. She could not address any of my concerns accept the changing generate bill date each month. How could PWC based a late fee when the the generate bill is on a cycle? I thought that was one of the reasons the grace period was in place originally. If the customer is not careful in interpreting their bill, they will believe 269.09 is the actual bill owed, wherein no more than $155. is what's really owed. Lastly, because of thesemishaps, it makes the bill look like it ispast due. Trying to reach the PWC Commisioner. Curious to know if he or she is aware of what's going on.
Jared McDowell: I was very pleased with the service I received after I purchased a machine on auction. Jenn was super helpful in getting the paperwork handled and lining up the pickup, and Ray was very helpful in explaining the background of the machine. I will make a special effort moving forward to watch this municipalitie's auction items because of the great service!
