Cape Fear Music Center: what do users think?
Stirling McKelvie: Tony is such a big help. He goes above and beyond. Would recommend him to any musician that needs repairs and/or lessons.
Maylin Castillo: My son has been studying piano with Mr. Jeff at CFMC for about a year now. He had to stop for a few months due to Covid but they are back open. Mr. Jeff is very patient and nice. He makes sure my son understands his assignments. He's a great great music teacher.
Swampfox: Bunch of great folks...
Calvin E Suddieth III: Located right behind the school ( The Capital Encore Academy on a one way street, Old Street).🎼🎹🎷🎤Friendly service ,nice music rooms for lessons and private practice .🎸🎻🎺
Tim Cotner: They only had a couple of guitars in stock and the floor was practically empty. Despite that friendly banter was made, I felt like I was being watched like a hawk.Dunno if it was an off day or what but it wasn't a pleasant experience.edit: Hey tony thanks for the reply! I might just have to ship my guitar out here, it's in need of repair :)
Assane Diouf: Great people! Always welcoming.
Francis Valencia: I began, then enrolled my wife and son. Very welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Daryl Culbreth: Knowledgeable staff , Tony & Jeff are the best ! Great service and selection
Lawanda Turner: This Isaiah Barnwell and I am one of Mr. Tony's old students and Mr. Tony and Mr. Jeff are amazing go check them out because there amazing
Marsena Kupfer: I was walking down the street across from Cape Fear Music Center Instrumental today which happened to be the first day of school for my daughter. I saw a little girl that sits next to my daughter in class she was holding hands with a woman, I assumed the woman was her mother. I asked the little girl and the woman how was the first day of school? The woman placed the little girl inside the building and asked me what did I want? She was really on the defensive I didn't understand why. I continued to explain to the woman I was the parent of the little girl that sat next to the little girl she was holding hands with. Rudely, she said I am not her mother and begin to ask me what I wanted. I told her what I said but she started to call a man named Toni. I walked away and they began to walk towards me, so I turned around and told him what just happened. I explained to him how upset I was because I didn't understand why his employee approached me like she did. I asked if we could exchange names so that I could make a complaint. He refused to do that but he went on to tell me that he owned half the block. A point that I thought was irrelevant. To sum up the event I don't know if they thought I was a homeless person and that is how they speak to the homeless, maybe it was my race or they are just rude. Their demeanor was not one that I would entrust my children in their care.
Michelle Black: Great staff. Reasonably priced. My kids love their lessons!
p. “pbinx” Binx: Hidden Gem. Not a big inventory but give lessons and what's important to me is they repair and set up guitars quality work and on time.
Grassy Knoll: Friendly staff and knowledgeable service. Cape Fear Music Center is more than just a music store, they're a part of the community. The guys that run the place are engaging and genuine. I always feel like I'm a friend rather than just a customer. The 'down town' location is also nice and usually where all the action is. Looking forward to a lasting business relationship among real musicians.

Edwards Music Company: what do users think?
Ronald Prater: This place is awesome if you are a local musician or trying to learn about getting into Music. Guitar Center is just around the corner on Skibo Road and they don’t hold a candle to the folks here at Edwards. Everyone in here is super friendly, and will try to answer any questions that you have. I have purchased instruments from them as well as accessories for my guitar such as strings, cases, picks, and cables. I also use them to change my guitar strings. They condition my fretboard and get my strings changed within a day or so. Very convenient for dropping off and then just picking it back up for service. They also have a unique program if you have a child in school who is needing an instrument to play. We have several friends from church who rent their school instruments through Edwards.
Tao: Good place to fix any instrument
LeVan Champion: Great Staff! Great equipment! Great selection! Great atmosphere! I hope you get the picture. Highly recommended for all your music needs!
melanie gee: Edwards does great repair work on our daughter's flutes! It takes a couple weeks but we've never been in a rush!
Johnny Texan: Went in there today to browse and walked out with a new ukulele. They had a nice variety (far superior to Guitar Center) and the staff was as friendly and helpful as could be. They're knowledgeable about their instruments and can answer any question. I compared the prices there to what I found online and everything was right on par for each brand and model and in some cases cheaper. I will be visiting again.
waldemar gonzalez: Great service, better prices!
Ashley Hall: Friendly, excellent service.
Sherene Stephens: Always a pleasure doing business with them.
Randall Ivy: Great place for most musicians.
Ebony Miller: Great staff here. Friendly and inviting environment with employees who care about giving patrons quality customer service. They're very knowledgeable and skilled.
Lavern Beharie: First vist.Very friendly and professional staff. This is what customer service should be.
Nicole Small: My first time here. Purchasing needed items for a child's music class. They knew exactly what I needed (great cuz I had no clue), explained everything to me clearly and answered all my questions. Very friendly staff!! Great experience!! It makes ME wonder if I should learn an instrument myself!Parking space Plenty of parking Parking options Free parking lot …More
Bruce Lewis: VERY friendly and knowledgeable staff
Cleo Russ: They were really helpful, Johnny on the spot. Bought small stuff for now, but I will be buying more stuff there. Like amps, guitars. Prices are really good.
ana soriano: Edwards music is always a great place to visit.
Patrick Stephenson (Dizzle): Greatest customer service 👌
thanatos nyx: Always the place to go
Paul Ingram: Great music store! They have what I need and their repair shop is in town. Great people and great service.
Michael Winters: All of my visits there they have always be very friendly and helpful. Most of my interactions have been with their repair shop. They always do great work and very friendly.
Elizabeth kuzma: Great staff and very helpful people.
KERISIANO ELLIS: Way better than Guitar Center. The variety was low in stock at the time (expected) but the customer service was good. & Still got what I needed. I'd go back.

Music & Arts: what do users think?
Max Anderson: I bought a guitar for my wife and found the staff to be professional, friendly, and staff demonstrated great customer service skills! Thank you Ladies!
James McCray Jr.: RACIST !!! Don’t go as a black man never felt more disrespected in my life no one spoke or help me after standing around waiting for someone to help nearly an hour guy at front desk was on his phone looking as if I didn’t belong in there.
David Handlon: Kelly Street is a fantastic employee at this shop. She helped me get the exact strings and capo that I wanted. They weren’t in shop but she ordered them and they were in shop in 2 days. Not only that, but she recommended strings that were a better fit for my fingers. Kelly restrung and fixed the action on my 12 string Taylor perfectly. I haven’t felt this good playing my guitar since I bought it. She went above and beyond. I will definitely be requesting her assistance again.
Rich Guinto: Really great place to purchase musical instruments, sheet music & more! The instructors are great - in fact I'm One of Them! (Piano 🎹 & Voice🎙) If you're wanting to learn, there's never been a better time - don't put it off!Music & Arts has an intimate atmosphere and great little studio classes for learning. ❤️
Chuck Holt: The girls that work there were willing to go above and beyond, they did a great job.
ThinkLife Pro: We love the instructors and staff at this location. They have been a joy to work with. The downside experiences we have had with this company have been with the corporate office. If you go with this company, you'll want to keep an eye on the billing, expect to make multiple calls, and the matter may not be resolved.
syl thomas: Found everything I needed for my orchestra student, but minimal staff.
Stacey Higgs: Everyone here is so friendly and helpful!
Kevin Cook: Stay away. Wanted me to wait 4 weeks to get a refund check for less than $100. This is why they are failing. I will never buy anything from them again. Ever.
Barbara Snyder: Called to make a payment for my daughter and someone took the liberty to put my card on autopay!! Seriously!!
Antini Richardson: Phenomenal job, I was at the store when greeted very kindly by the staff! I was in then out in the blink of an eye!!!! Thank you to the lovely sales associate Dess!!!! 👍🏾😁
Benjamin Toedte: Horrible customer service. Wait. Im just kidding. It really wasn’t bad. It was nonexistent.
Es Lopez: My daughter went in for lessons with Jessica and she was a GREAT TEACHER. My daughter loved her trial lesson. When we decided to sign up for monthly lessons the cashier/clerk, Dess, didn’t know how to complete the transaction. I wanted my daughter to have two lessons a week and start the next day. Apparently that was to hard for Dess to do. I spent a whole hour trying to get her signed up but Dess couldn’t do it. I had to purchase two individual lessons for this month and I couldn’t take advantage of the promotion they had going on because it was “too difficult or complicated” due to the system. Now I have to go back another time when I have more time to waste to try and do this process all over again. If anyone is signing their child up for lessons, I recommend you go when you have blocked out a few hours of your day since it’s too hard for the employee to complete this task.
John Hartrich: Super helpful staff and great service
Aidimar Serrano: In a society where so many things are going wrong, I am thankful for the moments of light when a person makes a difference. Thank you Olivia for outstanding customer service.
Blu Herr: Run don't walk away. Scam look up guitar center prices before you rent.
Trevor Stewart: About a year ago we had our daughter take piano lessons from Music & Arts, the instructor canceled About three times with some personal issue, so we left. A couple weeks ago we decided to give them another try, we called and spent 30 minutes or more with the sales associate on the phone setting up virtual piano lessons, two days before the lessons are set to begin we hadn't received any instruction on how the lessons would be conducted, so we call, the person on the phone had no idea what I was talking about, said I wasn't in the system, so she puts me on hold a few times, at this point I don't want the lessons anymore and that's what I told her, during the refunding of my money, she pops in and says, looks like you are in our system...wow, really. No thanks.Do better.
Lisette Argandona: I have been coming here with my daughter and her instruments for the past 5 yrs, maintenance, purchasing expensive instruments, repairs, information and so on. I have NEVER had such issues and horrible customer service as I have the last two times, once when calling for information and when coming into the place. Granted Covid changed ALOT.for everyone... but one thing it should NOT have changed is how u greet people when the walk in, speak to them when they are inquiring information and deal with them once you see the level of frustration a customer has. The only reason I am keeping my services here is because this is where the instrument was purchased. There should be some level of understand that during the time of COVID... maintenence contracts that lapse when stores were closed were beyond anyone's power not allowing someone to renew maintenance due to school being out for a year before having to charge me to send it out to be looked at FIRST...is just insane to me. I am just very disappointed at how they have handled this situation....and the people at the front could use some training in how they speak to people as wellThey might come across the wrong one on a bad day.
L Boogie: They didn't have what I was looking for but the associate was very friendly. She even went online to try and find the answers to my questions.
Sonya Morrow: WILL NEVER RENT FROM THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN !!!
Mama Coco: See I ordered my baritone some time ago and still ain't get my stuff. They tweaking dont come here🙄

John D's Luthiery: what do users think?
Team Wainman: I took my grandmother's guitar to John last January in hopes he could fix it and find some information about it. I thought it was a resonator guitar dating back to the early 1900's. It was in pretty bad shape because of age and not being kept in a case (I didn't have one at the time), but John was up for the challenge. The level of care and effort John put into repairing this family heirloom was top notch. He spent a YEAR studying it, working on it, researching it, caring for it...and I can't ask for a better result. He fixed what needed to be fixed, cleaned up what needed to be cleaned up, and kept the original character and worn places from where my grandmother played it. It is stunning and I'm thrilled to have it back in such great shape. In all his work, John discovered that the guitar wasn't actually a resonator after all. It was created and sold by a company in the 1930's who falsely marketed and sold these guitars as resonators, but the company went bankrupt when it was revealed that the guitars weren't resonators in the first place. That news doesn't make the guitar any less valuable to me, but it does show the level of commitment John has to his craft and love of guitars. If your guitar or other stringed instrument needs work, you need to contact John Dolan. His expertise and down to earth style of communication is above board and I highly recommend him.
Jeffrey Riggan: Took my PRS acoustic-electric for an emergency service. The pickup fell out and I had a gig the same day. Called him up and he got me in and out in an hour just like he said. He cleaned it up nicely, set it up great and he is a cool guy. Did my gig with no issues. I'll be back for future services. Check this guy out
Ken MacDonald: He’s worked on 2 guitars for me—a Strat and a Martin d-28 and I loved the workThe Martin needed setting up and he got it perfectGreat to work with
marc ian nero: John is very professional, I brought my custom acoustic guitar that i bought from philippines, it has tone problems on 1st string, 2nd string at 12 to 14 fret. He adjusted the rod and did fret dressing and the problem is solved. He is so kind and even give me military discount☺️
Lucas Formyduval: I'd like to start this review by stating that up until my meet with John, I had never met him, and I was going strictly off his 5-star rating. Recently, I built a custom guitar and set it up myself. for the most part it turned out great, but I noticed even though my guitar was intonated. The tuning, when being played, sounded a bit off. In my area Luthiers are hard to come by, if you need work done then you either do it yourself or go to guitar center. I have nothing against guitar center as a store but as far as getting an advanced problem fixed... they're definitely not luthier trained. you may get lucky and find someone at a guitar center that knows what their talking about, but you could also end up with someone who is going to completely screw up your guitar. so, I took a chance on john, made the drive to go see him and within a few minutes of talking with him and him checking out the guitar he found the truss rod was not even tightened.... I took my guitar home, tunned it up, and now I have the best sounding guitar I've ever played. fixed the problem in a matter of minutes and only for $20. which he normally doesn't charge for something so simple but I Insisted on paying him. with all this being said.. if you have a problem, go see john. within the first few minutes of meeting him you will realize he's a VERY knowledgeable person when it comes to not just guitars but craftsmanship in general. He's also a super cool dude, easy to talk to. I HIGHLY suggest him and am currently makings plans to go back and see him about a 1950s vintage acoustic. I hope this review helped, I wish everyone a good year here in 2022.
Dee Hauser: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueIn 1 word.......Excellent!
Justin Chandler: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueA very welcoming professional business that knows what he's talking about, not afraid to take on a project, and made me feel like i was in my home music shop. Willing to work the client and very engaging, definitley my go to "guitar guy" for this area.
James Scruggs: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,ResponsivenessTook a guitar to John D by complete chance. He did an amazing job for what I needed. I absolutely will be returning for any future services!
Yard Junkies Lawn Care: Certified, insured, and true master of his craft. I would recommend this guy for all your stringed instrument repairs and restorations. He also did some custom works for me outside the normal everyday scope of his business. And I was quite pleased. The center plaque is some of his outstanding work and one my favorite fan memobilia pieces. His craftsmanship and attention to detail is unmatched in my opinion!
