Since I was a little girl, I have always wanted to help people. As I grew up, that desire became stronger and stronger until I decided a career in mental health was the best way to fulfill that desire. That desire was further cemented when I became a Christian and really saw how people were hurting. Throughout life and circumstances, I have developed a passion for marriages and families, including premarital counseling, although I do see clients on an individual basis.

I view every client as unique and will treat each client as such. My personal belief is that counseling should be a safe and productive place to share and I make every effort to make each client feel that way. No matter what it is that brings you into counseling, know that there is never any judgment. Life is full of choices, and if you have gotten this far, you are one step closer to making a decision that will impact your life for the better.

My degree is in marriage, couples and family counseling, but I also have experience working with trauma and substance abuse. I am passionate about working with ages 16 and up.

4worldlovers: I will give parents and children the necessary tools and techniques to achieve a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle bringing about the happiness we all inherently desire. I will help parents whose children suffer from anxiety and depression. After several sessions, you will become well-versed at handling some of the common links that lead to anxiety and depression. Children will learn how to implement calming skills to reduce overall tension and moments of increased anxiety and tension. Children will learn that their faults or negative characteristics do not make up who they are as an individual. They will learn to discover their true self (the self that is aware of the disturbance) hold onto these truths and refuse to sweep them under the rug when symptoms arise.

Does your family suffer from adolescent and parental conflicts, a loss in cohesion, lack of anger management, and disputes between siblings, discipline issues, hurting from separation and divorce, or traumatic life events? Reunification therapy is a process in which a qualified therapist works with the whole family reuniting estranged or alienated parents with their child or children, usually due to an extended separation, divorce, or custody dispute.

Sometimes this may be the result of parental alienation. It could be due to a pathological attachment to an abusive parent or enmeshment with an emotionally needy parent who likely struggles with their own attachment issues. In other cases, it may be a rejection of the estranged parent because of past abuse, absence, neglect, or simply the failure to facilitate a bond or attachment to the child.

In all cases, the goal of reunification therapy is to help both parent and child develop a closer, healthy, and secure attachment. Most often, reunification is a court-ordered intervention to protect the child from developing any lifelong difficulties. If parental alienation can be determined, then the therapist will work to end parental alienation tactics by the alienating parent in the reunification process. The goal is to have all parties involved as children do much better with both parents being involved with the process.

Life throws many surprises at us, and while we cannot predict the outcome of any situation, we can take control of how we respond to certain situations. In therapy, you’ll learn about acceptance and how to exert your power of choice over whatever life may throw at you.

Trauma-Focused Therapy focuses on the emotional and mental health needs of children, adolescents, adult survivors, and families that are struggling to overcome the impact trauma has had on them. I used to be adamant against smartphones for children, but with the technology today, they are handy for parents too. As a parent, I have a location app that tells me where my children are, how fast they are traveling, and much more. I am not here to convince you of whether or not your child should or should not have a smartphone. There is plenty of good reason for them not to have one.

However, this is not the point of this post. The point is to provide you, the parent, with the tools to protect your child if you decide on your child having a smartphone. There is plenty of risk of teens having a cell phone, sexting, porn, provocative videos, child predators on social media, phone addiction, loss of skill in person to person communication and social skills. You know the risk, what can you do about it?
