I really appreciate the respect he showed for the piece and for the original artisan's work, taking great care to preserve its authenticity. The entire process was smooth as could be. He asked me to check in at his shop while the work was in progress to make sure I was satisfied with what he was doing, and he also took care of the substantial task of moving the extremely heavy piece back into my house exactly where I wanted it. I can’t say enough good things about working with John! He is very professional and personable, a pleasure to work with. I brought John a challenge – a table top that my dad made about 45 years ago. I wanted it cut down and made into a writing desk. John worked with me on the design of the legs to be sure that I got exactly what I had in mind. He refinished the top carefully, keeping the rustic nature of the piece, because I didn’t want it to look like a new desk. He even mixed stain for the old top to make sure that it matched the new legs he made. John also had the great idea to use the part of the table that had been cut off to make a standing shelf to sit on the back of the desk. He refinished that piece and made smaller legs for that as well. The result is a beautiful desk that my family can keep for generations. John’s work is top notch, and I wouldn’t hesitate to call him again when I need something else made.
