Molly Thompson: The drinks are phenomenal and it’s such a cool vibe. They really take a lot of pride in their drinks and it shows. I got a Kinky So & So and it was delightful and refreshing (I like sweeter cocktails, which aren’t really their specialty…but it’s amazing). Plus, I always feel like I’m in a 1920s speakeasy whenever I go there. One of my favorite little haunts in downtown Raleigh!

Andrea Martin: This is a bit hidden and you wouldn’t know it was there if not for the tables outside. Go down the stairs into the bar space that has a great feel- to include exposed brick walls.Creative craft cocktails and there is a constant flow of people in and out- if you are at a table- just share. The cocktails are delicious and you can expect to see one’s that are outside the norm. I love that they always ID (at the top of the stairs) even when there is no question as to legal ability to drink.

Very small and intimate. Extremely fitting for the spaces I enjoy.Foundation is tucked away downstairs in a basement-like space.Very easy to overlook.We dropped in for a nightcap.I ordered The Eastside as the bartender suggested. Very good. The bartenders are top-tier and highly experienced. All around good drinks and laid back atmosphere where I enjoyed being in the moment, so much so that I forgot to snap a photo of the menu. It appeared to change, as there were many specialty craft cocktail options. I look forward to coming back soon.
James Wohlrab: Love this bar! Every cocktail seems so intricate and well thought. I wish I could try them all. The beer selection was eclectic, yet all local. I couldn’t decide on a drink, so I had the bartender make me something from the new menu. I forgot the name, but it was perfect. Not too sweet, and nice and fruity. Everyone there seems to know their stuff.The bar itself is underground on Fayetteville Street. It’s not too large, and it did get busy around 10pm, so be prepared to wait or grab a drink and sit outside.Definitely a must try for locals and visitors alike. Will be back anytime I’m downtown.

Megan (IG: magnoliamegan): Such a cool hidden gem! This bar is built in the basement, and gives a dark and moody private setting as soon as you enter. To find it, look for the red neon sign at ground level + take the steps down! The exposed brick gives it a very speakeasy vibe and the drinks do not disappoint. They are known for their Old Fashioned but they also have a unique variety of craft cocktails!TIP: arrive early on the weekends because there will be a line or be prepared to wait! (But it’s worth it)

Jane Le: Came to see my friends perform for their album release. The staff were really cool and nice but lord it was soooo dim in there. Please use the bathroom before coming because we could BARELY see anything and the toilet paper wasn’t that great so my friends and I felt like we weren’t even sure if we cleaned up properly. The bisexual bathtub drink is to DIEEE FOR, ITS SO GOOD. Also the alcoholic caprisun (caprifun) is good too but I recommend the fruit punch flavor, it’s better than the strawberry kiwi. Also it was insanely hot inside so dress accordingly.

Overlapping would be fine if they were upfront about door times for each event online. And their reliance on Instagram is a hindrance for those of us who do not wish to support Meta.

No seating was available unless you paid for it so everyone was standing crowding around the small stage in this tiny building and unfortunately I am very short and no one would move out of my way. I tried to squeeze around but no one would move. After 40 minutes of not being able to see anyone perform I had enough. It was very disappointing.

John Hite: I don't know about their normal business model as we were just there for their Hopscotch day parties. The music lineups were great. The bar staff was helpful. The slushies were tasty. The beers were reasonably priced.The music shows were hosted outside, which worked out really well since the weather was good. The only real issue was the fact that there's a huge dumpster right next to the outdoor space that stunk to high heaven. Pretty off-putting.

Most of all I love their no b.s attitude, high standards and particularity. The nightclub / service industry has to cater to alot of fools, especially those who think they are welcome to spew their rhetoric whenever wherever but are turned off by a set of unwavering principals with backbone. Lily Cloud: One of my favorite bars to go with a group of friends downtown. I could drink those alcoholic smoothies they make all night! Very affordable and I love how they have a downstairs dance floor in addition to an outside sitting section for some fresh air. The bartenders are also always a lot of fun as well.

Emily Roberts: Usually I have fun here (hence the rating) but I was there Sunday night (4/16/23) and I guess I was going out the wrong door (although people had been going that way all night) and once I was already on the other side a man said "no ma'am) and grabbed my arm and yanked me back in. Like full on pulled me cause I was already on the other side. Then he said "the exit is that way". I'm not sure if he was an employee, but he had a black tank top, brown hair, and was very skinny (but also strong). I believe it was a little after 11 in the lobby between flex and the outside bar. If there are cameras it will prove it.

Aniket Bhattacharya: Visited on a Saturday night; it was pretty packed as they had a drag show from 11pm until past midnight. Also, it was the Halloween weekend. The drinks were just average for the price we paid, but then again, you won't really expect the finest of cocktails in such places, especially when the bartenders have to cater to a huge turnout of patrons.They charge you $2 extra on entry fee on certain credit cards, so try paying with cash. Also keep some $1 notes handy to tip the drag artistes, etc.Overall, I loved the ambience and would visit again.
Dominic Lenhauser: A mixed crowd, friendly staff, games to play, different bars, shows, dance floor, gift shop, and just drinks are affordable. Nice clean place!

They were also generous with the water, which I really appreciated since a lot of bars scoff at you when you ask for water! They had great music and a good atmosphere.We even saw that the light was on for the Green Light Bar (representing the green light at the end of Daisy Buchanan's dock in "The Great Gatsby"). Four members of our party were able to head back to the mini bar behind the bookcase, and ordered even more fabulous cocktails in a quaint little space holding perhaps enough seating for 20 people.

We asked about the greenlight room which I heard about from a coworker. One of the bartenders was kind enough to give us a little peak inside. We've never experienced this much interaction with the bartenders before, maybe because it wasn't busy yet that time. We appreciated the time they took for us. Will be coming back next date night for sure.

She showed me around the architect bar and educated me on the rental details for a party… What I absolutely LOVED was Jobani’s personality, makeup and ensemble! Zee: Watts & Ward is a unique place for drinks. It had multiple rooms to sit down and have a drink. I like the vibe with leather couches and unique rustic wooden tables. Watts & Ward also had live music certain days. Definitely recommend if your meeting friends for drinks or just to hangout.
Falan E: I visited Watts & Ward for the first time Sunday evening after 6 pm. The staff at the entrance was welcoming. Watts & Ward is downstairs in a basement-like space. Cute space with vintage aesthetics which is very nice and comfortable with plenty of seating. The overall aesthetics of the space and comfortability is a 4*. A few things on the patio seemed out of place but overall a nice space.This particular evening the bartender in The Mud Room demeanor was not friendly, or enthusiastic. That individual didn't demonstrate good customer service warranting anything over an overall 3* based on my experience. Even the person cleaning off the table didn't engage any.I had a Hendricks mule, not in a mule cup. The lemon and ginger were overpowering - way too much carbonation. I like that I get more bang for my buck in the tall glass but as a courtesy, the bartender could share they don't carry the copper mules. This would've leveled up the experience. For me, a copper mule cup is necessary for a proper Moscow Mule.Customer service usually inspires me to return places but in this case, it's the space and others who have enjoyed themselves. I hope to return for the comedy night in the future, hopefully, a better experience.
Mariss: Watts & Ward is a unique 1920’s themed speakeasy style bar located on S. Blount St in downtown Raleigh situated in the basement of the Montague building. It features 4 bars, The Mud Room, Main Bar, Patio & Library. I have visited twice now and enjoy the grown & sexy vibe and diverse mature crowd here. The staff whom I’ve interacted with appear to enjoy their place of work and take pride in that. I visited recently on a Sunday when service was slower during the holiday and this evening for comedy night. The service was excellent tonight, the bartenders were very friendly and bar service was offered while seated. I’ve ordered the Far East Ricky with Tanqueray Gin, Lime, Cucumber, Mint and a Egg White and the Penicillin with Johnnie Walker Red Label, Ginger, Honey, Lemon, Islay Scotch and enjoyed both. I love the classic jams they play as well. Good music. Ryan who worked the door tonight urged me to return for live jazz on Thursday.I really enjoy how the Prohibition and Roaring 20’s vibe is carried throughout the venue. It makes you feel like you flew off a page of the Great Gatsby. This venue is huge and features a beautiful garden patio. I look forward to returning for the live Jazz night, patio and more comedy.

Elis D.: An okay night turned real bad real fast , don’t go here if you want to get a drink thrown at you by the bar tender the guy with the beard 🧔♂️ wouldn’t tell us his name either , horrible attitude was saying inappropriate things to my brothers girlfriend, he told him to stop and he got mad and started to trying to fight us , even threw his card at her, and the bouncer knew bartender was in the wrong and still took his side and kicked us out . We never did anything wrong other customers were upset about the situation as well , it was no wonder there was 15 people or less in there on a Friday night , mean while every other place is packed , so much more to the story but I should’ve started with the bartender was having drinks to begin with and seemed like alcohol wasn’t the only substance in his system . Anyways if you want your night ruined go here

LV Nation: Came here for a night out after working 13 days as a general manager of my own establishment and i was taken care of by Jon B. He was bartending and cooking and I got the best service I've gotten coming here over the past couple of years. He actually spoke to us and made sure to articulate when he was behind and as a manager I respected that but he got us our food and drinks in a timely fashion and really gsve good service... definitely coming back!
Munney PTE: Great prices and a full range of selection. Dive bar kinda vibe for locals but you're close to the Morgan St marketplace for food options and Glenwood is around the corner for more bars/clubs
Stylez Queen: I absolutely LOVE the monkey, the only dislike is the owner and how she looks down on people. I googled bars near me when I first moved to Raleigh and been coming here for 3 years. JB, Misty and Terence are the best bartenders in town and their drinks are always on point. There are 3 pool tables and a few other games, great spot to watch the game in peace and just overall chill atmosphere.

Oscar Nemeth: A fantastic little bar adjacent to the Morgan St. food hall, Aunty Betty's has a great selection of different cocktails, a very knowledgeable and friendly bartender who is great at making custom one-off cocktails, and really high quality liquors, liqueurs, vermouths, etc. to make anything you could imagine.Stopping by in the middle of the day is always great since it's usually not terribly busy. In the summer when you need to cool off it's great - the bartender is a huge hydrohomie and his cocktails are always cool and refreshing.The prices seem high until you realize just how expensive some of the bottles used in the drinks are, the creative process behind the drinks, the skill in mixing, and the fact that you're in a popular part of Raleigh.

dan smith: This was my first time here and it was early for cocktails but the atmosphere was great. The small bar was mostly filled with folks (bartenders?) talking shop with the bartender who was obviously well respected by the folks at the bar. Gin and tonic and bartender’s choice dirty martini were both lovely. Several local bartenders have recommended Aunty Betty’s for craft cocktails and I was definitely not disappointed and will comeback soon.

Nya Wilson: Excellent customer service, the staff were all knowledgable and this is one of the most unique atmoshphere's for a bar I have ever experienced. There's a lot of nature elements, beautiful plants, and it's so relaxing.
Sophia Alexandria: This place is very cool. It's a small place located in downtown Raleigh. The coolest thing about this place is that you can tell the bartenders to make you something based on how you feel. For example, you can say, "I have mixed feelings." The bartender can make you a drink based on that. The drinks were very good I have to say. The bartender that is from Congo is amazing. Definitely have him make you something!
