Josh Fulan: The sales and delivery people are friendly but unfortunately don't seem to know what they are doing. My washer and dryer were not tested after they were installed. My washer leaked substantially the first time I used it, and the dryer did not function correctly either. DAO sent out a tech to look at it, but everything the tech told me ended up being incorrect.They were certain that the unit itself was fine. After weeks of going back and forth with DAO and the tech, I finally scheduled an appointment with a tech from LG. Within five minutes of arriving, he confirmed that the issue was with the unit itself, and he was able to fix it in less than an hour. While fixing the issue, he mentioned that a step had been skipped by DAO during installation. I contacted DAO twice about the installation issue, but they never got back to me.In short, you will likely be left on your own if your appliance does not work properly upon delivery. I hate leaving a bad review for a small local business. However, my experience with DAO was absolutely horrible, and I cannot recommend them.

According to them, you told them you sold the washer to us in a box. That was a lie. We have a picture of the unboxed washer in your warehouse.Review:Please please please do not buy from this company. Bought an LG washer - spent a decent amount of money. They said it was new. Had it installed. First cycle flooded our laundry closet/carpet and the ceiling below. A drainage tube had been replaced with the wrong part inside the machine. (We know this because the warranty company was able to look at past notes). We called to complain - the day after we purchased it - and was told to use the warranty and then she hung up on me. Yes, I was upset but I don’t believe I was being unreasonable. I was watching water pour through my light fixtures. I was lied to. Don’t buy from here. It’s not worth it. The worst experience I’ve ever had.

Sara Welch: We had a great experience with Emily and Christina last weekend. We found DAO through Facebook Marketplace, as we saw they had posted a deep freezer but figured since we have also been looking for a new washer/dryer we would just go check them out in person. The experience was great from start to finish. They were very attentive and made sure to answer any questions we had. They allowed us to take our time and weren't pushy - I wanted to read reviews and user manuals of the two appliances we had our eyes on before purcahsing. Since we went on a Saturday, there were no warehouse workers to load the appliances we purchased, but with my husband there, the three of them were able to get both our new fridge/freezer and washer/dryer loaded safely and easily into our truck. We have since told 3 or 4 friends about this place and are looking forward to returning when we are in need of the next upgrade!

Will Priest: STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS! I work really hard not to leave bad reviews. I think that most bad reviews are one of situations with an unrealistic expectation and are used to try and take out frustration of a business. I used this business for a dishwasher on a unit I was trying to sell. I spent a large amount on new repairs including new vinyl floors in the Kitchen. I made the mistake of not being present for installation but was assured before and after photos would both be sent (neither happened). Delivery was set for a first date, promised another date, and pushed again. They never called me and was only completed after I called them multiple times. During installation the new vinyl floors were torn. If these were not freshly installed I honestly wouldn't have cared except for an apology, but these floors were brand new! The official stance is that they were that way when they arrived and they will not do anything even though all I requested was for a refund on the installation. The lack of care, the not my problem attitude, the lack of follow through and follow up. You get what you pay for and discount is in the name.
Chantal McGill: I had a great experience! My fridge was broken and I had my food in a cooler. I saw a fridge on their website that I was interested in. I called and they were super friendly. They talked me through the process and the cost. I went in at lunch time and picked out a fridge. It was exactly as the website described. Although their delivery schedule was already tight, they went above and beyond to make sure I got the delivery the same day so that I wouldn't have to go any longer without a refrigerator. They even walked me through how to use it and gave tips for getting it cold. I really appreciate it and am very happy with the fridge I picked out so far. It had a few small dents but otherwise looks brand new and is working great. If you need delivery, installation, and haul away, just call and they will walk you through the prices.
Lars Capener: Bought a GE Washer/Dryer Laundry center from Troy. He was very friendly with big promises when you buy (but you don't see the terms "No REFUNDS" until it is on your credit card receipt after the sale. When there is a problem, he avoids your calls, send the GE warranty service to fix, when they say it is not covered under warranty, Troy says they took pictures of it before it left and inferred that I must have caused the damage. The dryer drum is rubbing against the wall from a dent. Then says we can go to court or solve it like a man out back. Dishonest, not honorable and BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK as Troy will not stand behind anything, except your money. Troy's responses to dissatisfied customer don't sound like someone who will get many repeat customers.
Joseph Soldani: This was without a doubt the best experience I’ve ever had dealing with an appliance store. Multiple big box stores failed to provide us a refrigerator after purchasing, going as far as missing the planned delivery date and following up with a 20 day wait before their next attempt. We went to the Discount Appliance Outlet and the owner delivered a refrigerator himself, and on the same day of the purchase. He also matched the original sale price from Best Buy all the while providing a better warranty. I would recommend this store to any one in need of an appliance. I know I’ll be going back for a garage fridge soon.

Joshua Greenstein: In mid July my wife and I went to discount appliance. I had seen what I wanted on their online listing. The person in the store was unauthorized to make a sale without consulting the owner. They assured a call back. Days past and I called them and finally got a callback a week later. We agreed on terms and I got an install scheduled for July 20.Installer (owner) arrives gets the old machine out and new one installed to test. Error code comes up that could not be resolved. I inquired about other options but everything was sold. The only diagnosis was an error code indicating to contact whirlpool. A week later we had a service person come to perform a warranty repair. They needed to order a kill switch. It took over 3 weeks to get the part. They come back to install and it is missing a $2 bracket to install the switch. 11 days later we have a working dishwasher.We were without a dishwasher for about 2 months. The savings was not worth washing a lot of dishes by hand for 2 months. Also if we bought at a big box store they would have replaced the unit much sooner. I did also inquire about an additional discount for my trouble, but only received snide remarks from Christina. Needless to say buyer beware. If you want an unprofessional amateur experience then discount appliance is the store for you.
Thomas Smith: First of all they charge ten percent taxes which is illegal. Also I paid for delivery and the items were not in the condition that I bought them upon delivery and we were told that if anything was wrong that we could refuse delivery. The gentleman not only was rude to my spouse after we spent over two thousand dollars for a washer and refrigerator that looked like it was bought used. He also wanted to give her a guilt trip about his foot being hurt and how he lives in a camper behind his work place which has nothing to do with the condition of the appliance s that was purchased with my hard earned money. I am a father of three and I have videos of this gentleman refusing not only to take them back but also left them right in my driveway and didn’t even bring it close to the house. This is a husband and wife scamming duo. After this tandem got me for my money they talked to me in a demeaning manner and would not fix the issue. I’m reporting them to the better business bureau and government for fraud be careful!!!!

Multiple text messages admitting they need to replace this hunk of junk. All saying, “I’ll take care of it.” Nothing ever done. They stopped answering my calls. One star is much more than they deserve!

Clothes come out dripping wet. Even after an extra spin cycle. Called and the owner came out. Stayed 5 minutes. Still not working. May as well still be going to laundromat. Single mom. J P: They hit my car with the delivery van while I was in the store and had no intentions, and if they did, no urgency or concern to come inside and let anyone know. Luckily a lady saw it and came in and told me while the delivery guys didn’t make eye contact and kept unloading while I waited for the police. So, while I was distracted, they charged us $600 for a set that looked good in the store. I’m 99.9% sure this is NOT the set they delivered. It leaks and is extremely loud, rusted and falling apart, dryer squeals and takes almost two hours to dry a load! We called them to come out to the house to see the piece of craps that they delivered and how they leak and how old and we were told it was normal and it’s just because “they’re old”! So why were we charged $600???? Also, it took them over a month before the person ever showed up to check it out. You’re better off getting a nice set off Craigslist for $100 than dealing with this place. It’s definitely a rip off!I wish I cold post the video of the washer at work but I’m not sure how.

Julie Cox: Needed new appliances for a rental property. I walked in and met Ibrahim, who treated me like a friend from the get go. He ordered a pizza and offered me a slice while I browsed!! Such a nice guy!! I got a great deal on a stove, fridge, microwave and dryer. They were delivered by Dennis, also incredibly friendly and knowledgeable like Ibrahim. Carlos Moore: Do not buy anything from them that old man (the owner) is a con artist and very deceitful . His delivery crew really have no idea what they are doing except the older white gentleman. We have caught them in several lies about there appliances . They sell items with missing pieces and don't tell you and play dumb on top of that they lie about coming back to fix problems. They couldn't even lift the refrigerator into the house it was two guys and they still needed me the customer to carry it one of the workers stopped lifting and me ( the customer and one of the workers ended up doing the work they couldn't even put handles on the refrigerator I had to do it because they couldn't figure it out and I've never done it before. Long story short purchasing from this store is a big mistake you will help them rip you off 📴 trying to save money. Do not shop there .

Nicole Wetzel: Do not buy anything from this place! All employees are rude and their "refurbished" appliances don't work. I bought a washer and dryer in September of 2021,have had issue after issue, to then be blamed that I intentionally went into the dryer and broke it! It is now November 2021 and I still have not yet been able to get them to replace their faulty appliances. I have already contacted the BBB about these people so hopefully they will not be open much longer to do this to people.
Breia-lyn Mackin: The owner blatantly lied to us to make a sale. He told us he would order new handles for our fridge if we purchased it ... We did and we have had nothing but issues since. The "brand new" fridge has had to be serviced more than once. It was not under warranty because it was purchased by the owner under less than ideal conditions (per the person that had to come and fix it) even though the owner assured us it was covered. Now we've had it a year and it leaks and the freezer door doesn't work correctly.

They came took out one washer and replaced it however the replacement washer leaked water all over my kitchen. Joy Williams: We bought a brand new Maytag washer and dryer and a brand new Samsung refrigerator here. We also paid for the delivery. The delivery men were late and didn't have a problem cursing in front of my children. They also said the fridge needed a water line not provided, and if we didn't run to Lowe's to buy one and install it asap, the fridge could be damaged once plugged in. It would have been good to know this ahead of time, but the owner did not inform us.On top of that, the washing machine had a broken water valve, discovered by the delivery men as soon as it was taken out of the box. We had to wait 10 days for the repair man to fix it after calling Discount City. A few days later, the washing machine stopped actually washing. Again, when making an appointment, the repair man wouldn't be able to come for another 10 days. I stayed home all day waiting for the repair man, and because he called my husband while he was at work (and therefore didn't answer right away), the repair man never showed up. Repair man said he would not knock on the door if we did not answer his phone call first. We are now having to wait another week before even seeing the repair man after calling the manufacturer again. Again, this was a brand new washing machine, not much cheaper than Lowe's or Home Depot.Discount City cannot be counted on for reliable machines, and they do not return broken appliances.

He installed my washer/dryer but the cabinets built around them were not big enough he was able to get me a smaller installation kit and installed it to be able to push them further in. He also fix the dryer door so that both doors open the same side. He took the time to give me what I wanted. Their prices are excellent and their professionalism is almost impossible to find in any other business . I felt that they really care about their customers and they are always there to answer any questions. I absolutely recommend Capital Appliances.

I went to Garner Appliance in North Raleigh and spoke with Max. He is a great guy - He steered me in the right direction based on my budget and his own personal recommendation. I later found out that he has been selling appliances for 10+ years, and no one would know better than Max. So I took his suggestion and purchased a Maytag Top Load set. 72 Hours later it was delivered and set up at my house. Everything was seamless and went as expected. My girlfriend is just totally in love with the new washer & dryer. She said its so simple to operate and it actually cleans her work clothes, vs the previous laundry set that she said was "Ho-Hum at Best." So standing ovation to Max and Garner Appliance for steering me in the right direction. Thank You!

Valerie Baker: We ordered an AGA range from Terri and were assured the range would be kept in their warehouse until our kitchen remodel was ready for it. Terri was very friendly and helpful, but she never mentioned any delivery cost. On the receipt the only mention is a line that says “COD Delivery/Install” with no price given. They contracted the delivery out to Pro Appliance. After the stove was installed Pro Appliance handed us a bill for $750! This was for an induction electric range with the receptacle already in place. They put the panels on the stove and plugged it in. We try to buy from local small businesses, but I am afraid the cost is getting too high. For the exact same sales price, there is a company online that will deliver AND install the same range plus include a two-year warranty for $49. One would assume that they are most likely contracting with some of the same installers and service pros. Needless to say, we are very disappointed with this company and would not recommend them.

Unfortunately, Distinctive Kitchen and Appliance World contracts with Pro Appliance to install the appliances. The installer flooded my laundry room because he didn't know how to install the wash machine. He started the washer and then left without making sure it was working appropriately. Additionally, Pro Appliance had to come back three times to get the dryer hooked up and finally had to send the owner of the business to do it. It is clear that the employees of Pro Appliance don't know what they are doing. I loved the retail experience but the install was a nightmare. You might do better going to Lowes.

Michael Daubman: I had a very urgent need to replace a fridge that unexpectedly broke. In an environment where finding high end refrigerators "in stock" is a nightmare, they were SUPER helpful. They worked with me on my requirements, their stock and even worked VERY hard to find a time to make this install happen ASAP. The install itself was great. I've had a few big-box deliveries lately and they prioritize speed. The Appliance World people communicated well, took their time and even helped relocate my old fridge to the garage to be repaired. The installer and I spoke a lot and he was very informative and lovely to talk with. I even got some great restaurant recommendations. They will be doing ALL my appliance needs from now on. 5 stars for sure!

When it arrived the installer immediately realized that the dimensions would make it protrude in a way to block access to kitchen drawers. I called Distinctive Kitchen and Appliance World and they could not have been nicer about accepting a return with no expense to me even though I'm sure they must have had to absorb the cost of the installer coming out to my property. This is a first-class operation. Great products, great variety, super service before and after sales AND they come through when things go wrong. We wanted to replace our builder grade Maytag with a Miele but had a lot of trouble finding one as appliance are hard to come by right now. Ashley was super helpful both over the phone in letting us know which models they had in stock before we came out there and then in person showing us the features. Install was super fast (less than a week). The installer (who manages the showroom) showed us how the new washer worked and made sure we were all set and ready to go... all questions answered... before he left. Overall, highly recommend. I will definitely look back to them the next time we need an appliance (although I hope that wont be soon b/c I dont want another appliance dying anytime in the near future).

James Clarke: Terrible! Jordan gave us a "one year warranty", came out to fix the washer twice then quit returning our calls.All he did was bypass EVERY safety switch which caused the motor to burn out, and makes it incredibly dangerous to use.He also used duct tape instead of electrical tape. He knows nothing about electrical work and made a death trap. Avoid at all costs!He seemed like a really interesting person until he abandoned us.
Brian Hicks: Two years update: Stove is still doing perfect.I write this review because I have a bit of faith in Jordan. I needed to replace an old GE spacemaker and because I am in the middle of a snail's pace kitchen remodel, I needed a cheap stove to get me by until the remodel is done. What I wound up getting was basically the stove I was going to put in the kitchen eventually, another GE, but a slide in. So let me address all the 1 stars. I suspect, as I literally talked to Jordan for an hour, that, the people who have left the reviews 1. Expected the same experience as say Sears outlet center (this is after all a single man, repairing appliances and reselling them, it's not a store, it's his house and, yes, things are unkempt, but the vibe I got was that he doesn't have time to worry about it, kinda like me.) 2. Didn't get him to fully test out the appliance (I went over with a ohmmeter and insisted we test the oven before I bought it) and 3. When they had a problem they were rude about it. The snapshot I saw was of a man trying to make a living. I haven't had a problem with my oven and it's been 2 months so far. If it wasn't for the fact that I get what the owner is trying to accomplish I'd probably leave like 3 or 4 Stars, but the thing is. I understand. I can't speak for not honoring a warranty or what not. I haven't been down that road, but my experience was in fact positive.
Ashleigh Wyatt: We bought what was supposed to be an RV AC/DC/LP refrigerator from Jordan. Jordan said if for any reason it doesn't fit or work we had 30 days to return it and he would give us our money back. Called him for 3 days and didn't get an answer or call back. Finally get him to answer and he said to be there the next day at 6pm. We were there at 5:55pm. He finally showed up at 7:15. While we were waiting two additional cars showed up. He took the other people first that were making a purchase. When I asked him to help us, he said he would only do a trade. He didn't have another RV refrigerator. Then he started saying there was damage to the fridge. The fridge was put on our trailer by Jordan and strapped down by Jordan. The refrigerator never left the Trailer and was parked inside a locked shop for the entire time we had it. Plus we have pictures of all damage of refrigerator before it left his place. Once we showed him pictures, he changed the subject and said he will only do exchange. But doesn't have one to exchange it for. Don't do business with this man!!

Marquiese did not stand by his word to honor the "30-Day-Guarantee" on the receipt, and he did not repair the machines. Instead, I had to pay a third party $600 to get both machines repaired. Do yourself a favor by avoiding Marquiese & his business. I wish I could give zero stars for this review.
