Pullen Arts Center offers studio-based classes in bookmaking, drawing, pottery, jewelry, painting, and printmaking. New programs and classes are created regularly and led by professional teaching artists.

Raleigh residents and non-residents can take part in our studio programs by taking classes or by purchasing a studio membership that will allow them to work independently when classes are not in session.

Participants are eligible to purchase a studio membership after they have completed a qualifying beginning-level class. Before purchasing a new membership, all pre-construction studio members must take a studio orientation or a beginning-level class in the new studios. If it has been over five years since you have held membership or taken a qualifying class, you must retake a qualifying class to be eligible.

Pullen Arts Center's galleries serve as a premier venue to showcase the broadest spectrum of visual arts by artists at various levels throughout the center. We provide artists with exhibition opportunities and space to engage with the work of other artists and the community.

The galleries are free, open to the public, and an important component of the community arts education experience at the Pullen Arts Center.

Main Gallery | This second floor gallery features 5 - 7 artists for 2 - 3 months at a time.

Youth & Teen Gallery | This first floor gallery features works by artists 17 years old and younger.

Chalk Wall Murals | Located at our first floor entrance, a new artist will create a chalk mural every 2 - 3 months.

Painting Miles offers you many opportunities to add more “mileage” to your time creating.

Our workshops are an incredible experience for all who take them! We bring nationally and internationally recognized artists to share their talents with us and offer you one to four days of high-quality instruction in a relaxed environment.

Welcome to our art studio! Our studio has a family atmosphere. Our Art Day is filled with lots of fun, games, laughter, hugs and creating art. Tamara’s teaching style is a hands on approach with individual and group instruction.

Our studio space is over 1500 sq’. Seating is set up with six tables (8′ X 4′) with up to 4 students sitting at each table.

We have additional cafe tables for students to play games during our breaks or to eat their lunch & snacks. A comfy “hang out area” is located in the back of our studio for an additional chill space.


Our studio space and the time we spend together are an extension of the larger community outside of our doors.


Our varied age groups and abilities work together in the studio classroom. We strive for our students to learn how to be both leaders and how to follow and receive guidance and inspiration from others. We believe in fostering communities where everyone can learn from each other
