Taylor Jackson: We couldn’t have imagined a better venue or team to work with for our wedding. Everyone at The Maxwell went above and beyond to help us make our day a success. Due to the weather, we had to move the entire day’s events inside the week of the wedding and they helped make the transition from outside to inside seamless.Immediately after we first toured the venue we knew we wanted to get married here. We can’t say enough great things about it and would highly recommend the venue and team to anyone looking to get married in the area!
Emily Turner: We absolutely loved having our ceremony and reception at The Maxwell. Super beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces (a must for a June wedding in the south), excellent staff, and great vendor relationships that made for smooth planning and day-of coordination. Important reasons we went with them: indoor ceremony AND reception spaces, great getting ready room for the ladies, and excellent bar packages. And of course, the beautiful white background that served as a blank canvas for our vision. Highly recommend The Maxwell!

The venue was clean and prepared for us when we arrived at 11:00. Tova was the best wedding coordinator you could hope for. Throughout the process, she was friendly, helpful, upbeat, organized, and professional. Our very experienced photographers said she was one of the best coordinators that they had ever worked with. The bar staff was also friendly and helpful. The venue was beautiful, and we can’t wait to get our photographs! We would absolutely recommend be The Maxwell and Tova to family and friends!

All of the staff was professional and so wonderful to work with, they made the day run smoothly and there were no issues throughout the day that I needed to be made aware of. Ina Lui: We had our wedding at the Maxwell with Tova as our coordinator and it was the best choice we could have made for our wedding. Everyone said that wedding planning is stressful, but with Tova by our side, my partner and I enjoyed the entire planning process. Everyone we interacted with on the day of our wedding was absolutely lovely and so fun and made our day even more special. In addition to the wonderful team at the Maxwell, the venue is absolutely beautiful (the pictures speak for themselves!). The Maxwell is truly a canvas you can make your own and we were so impressed with its ability to transform into the vision we wanted (we were even able to have our dog included in the ceremony, which meant the world to us!). Everything about the day and the planning process was perfect and would highly recommend having your special day here and highly recommend Tova as your coordinator! Truly one of the best experiences my partner and I had and it was all thanks to Tova, the lovely Maxwell Team, and the beautiful venue!
Nicole Hill: We got married at The Maxwell last week and we could not recommend the venue more! From the beginning, the staff was wonderful to work with. I had multiple questions throughout the process and they always worked with us for a solution. Sometimes you fear always hearing "no" to ideas but that was not the case. The wedding faces the altar and doors, because of the minimalist look the door stoppers were in the pictures of the couple during the ceremony.

Our guests were all from out of state and we needed a venue with easy access to downtown Raleigh. Our guests were very appreciative of the short shuttle ride and the fact that the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all took place at the same location.The staff at the Maxwell were top notch. The outdoor area is perfect for cocktail hour and for guests to relax during the reception. I will say, the number 1 perk of the Maxwell is the staff. Everyone that works there is helpful, professional, and kind. We worked specifically with Tova for day-of coordination and she was better than we could have ever hoped for. Tova stayed calm and took care of whatever we needed. We did most of the planning leading up to the day, but I didn't have to think about any coordination details once we got to the venue on the day of the wedding. Tova handled everything that my husband, family, and I needed. She was not only incredibly helpful, but was also really nice and great to be around. I could go on and on about how great Tova was all day, but I also want to shout out the assistant coordinator, and bartending team. Everyone was great! I am so glad that we chose the Maxwell as our venue and I would highly recommend it to anyone else.

Haywood Hall House and Gardens: what do users think?
Stephanie Milosh: Not only is Haywood Hall a lovely historic home, but it's a beautiful backdrop for smaller weddings. I had the opportunity to plan a 50 guest wedding at Haywood Hall, with the ceremony on the lawn in front of the house and a tent set up on the garden patio. The house is great for the wedding party to get ready, the back porch is perfect for a bar, and the gardens feel like magic. We're always happy to step into this beautiful venue!

This didn't cause too severe problems, but added stress for the planning process.Everything else regarding the location was fantastic, I'd gladly give a 5 if the previous manager returns to work. He was the initial contact and was fantastic at his job.

Kyle & Taylor Marker: We were looking for a venue where everything was all-encompassing and came across 1705 East...it was perfect! The venue is beautiful, location is convenient, and the fact that food and drinks are all combined with the venue through Rocky Top Catering, made everything so easy! We worked with both Quann and Karlee, and both were incredible and very quick to respond to any questions we had throughout the process.
Blane Rice: Wonderful place for wedding event and rehearsal dinner! Service was outstanding atmosphere was very good and the food was delicious! What more can you ask for? Very satisfied! Vicki is awesome!

Kristen Whitney: We had our ceremony and reception at 1705 and it was hands down the best experience! 1705 is a true GEM in the Raleigh area. It is accessible, convenient and beautiful! It is one of the few venues that offers catering (by the renown Rocky Top), bar service and a separate indoor ceremony/reception space and cocktail hour space. With 1705 we did not have to worry about catering, flatware, bar service, tables/chairs, cake cutting service, etc etc. It was all included in the venue, which is extremely rare compared to the long list of venues I evaluated! Even better they have a fully functioning kitchen so our food came out fresh and warm and boy did we get so many compliments on it from our guests!! They can easily accommodate indoor and outdoor weddings, something that was very important to us as we were getting married in December. But I’d be remiss to not mention one of my favorite parts of 1705, and that’s Quann Bradley. He is hands down the BEST venue manager I have ever encountered. He is flexible, easy to work with, fun, honest, and I could go on and on! I hope Rocky Top knows how much of a STAR they have in Quann! He worked tirelessly to make our day go perfectly and had waiters following my husband and I around to ensure we were fed and able to enjoy drinks during our cocktail hour and reception. He is just so amazing and I felt so lucky to work with him. I couldn’t have imagined our perfect day anywhere other than 1705. It is a RARE GEM in the Raleigh area. Thank you Quann and the RT staff for making our day incredible!

Taylor: Unfortunately have been trying to get in touch with 1705 for the last few weeks to get our site visit rescheduled and it has been nothing but a hassle.The day of our tour I was emailed a few hours in advance in regards to a reschedule (was already on the way so didn’t check my emails) and when arrived nobody was there. No phone call was made when I didn’t respond to email. Mind you this was the day of. It was really frustrating. Have been trying to reschedule a visit for weeks and the communication has been extremely poor. The catering company, Rocky Top, are the only ones who were responsive in a reasonable time manor. I gave up after not hearing back from Karlee or Quann once again.

We worked with Quann Bradley who went above and beyond our expectations to ensure that everything went according to plan. Quann was there for any questions we had and responded in a timely fashion. Quann was attentive to details and was a very big help. The service there was exceptional, food was great and it was overall a good time had at 1705 East. The staff was friendly and engaged. skylar coley: I truly wish this experience with RTC was as good as what we paid for. We’ve been in contact with Rocky Top Catering for at least the last two years. I have been super excited to use their venue 1705 East as well as have a delicious meal prepared by their amazing chefs. Our original wedding date was 5/31/2020. Naturally, we had our menu selected, invitations sent, and our expectations set extremely high by our coordinator Kayla Miles. Once COVID hit, we made the decision to move our wedding back to 8/23/2020. We had to make serious cut backs to our guest count and were given strict guidelines to follow to stay compliant with COVID-19 regulations. After being handed off to the sales director, Carol Sasseen, I was nervous but hopeful the experience would still be pleasant regardless of the lack of communication from her or really anyone else on the staff, after we lost Kayla. Venue looked great. Everything was going fine until I realized the plate I was served contained none of the items I selected, paid for, and signed off on. I tried to be polite, because it was my wedding day and told Carol everyone was eating it and seemed to like it although it wasn’t what we selected. Today 8/24, I reached out to Carol and told her I was extremely disappointed with what happened. Sent her all of the email correspondence between myself and Kayla after deciding on the menu, and even provided photo evidence of the menu that was approved and signed by Rocky Top Employee, Kayla Miles. Asked her to call my husband to discuss what would happen from here. Carol stated to my husband she sent me a proposal that I “didn’t look at” signing off on the food that was served. My records indicate that the proposal I was sent highlighted the changes made to my guest count, number of tables and so forth. After looking deeper into my correspondence, Carol evidently thought the sample menu that was provided to me by Kayla Miles to help my Husband and I understand how a typical menu is laid out, was in fact what we selected. She told my Husband it was my fault and refused to do anything about the mistake that was made. We didn’t ask for all of our money back, we just said “hey we paid 2600$ for the food we selected based off the many tastings we attended and you didn’t provide the service we selected and paid for.” I am extremely disappointed with the customer service here and the lack of accountability by the staff. I understand COVID has provided financial burden to everyone including vendors like RTC. However, we paid OUR hard earned money to have the kind of wedding we wanted. We’ve contacted our lawyer and I hope someone from RTC decides to return my husbands call so we can discuss what happens from here.

They have plenty of parking and a great outdoor area with market lights. This space would work really well for a cocktail hour or outdoor reception. The inside space is open, has clean restrooms, and the room can really be transformed quite easily with adding your own decor, linens and florals. Their in-house caterer is fantastic! The food, presentation and service are 5 star! I'd highly recommend this place for a birthday party, baby shower, rehearsal dinner and even a wedding reception.

My only issue is if your going to be a venue then you should have in place available covering for when it rains and even in the summertime no one wants the sun beating down on them for a ceremony. It rained for 3 days and the ceremony and cocktail hour took place outside in the rain and a very crowded porch area.
Rebecca Tenbuuren: Walnut Hill was beyond a dream for our April wedding this year! We had visited a few venues when we got engaged and as soon as we pulled into Walnut Hill, I knew this was the one. Amanda & her team do a beautiful job keeping all of the property picture ready with the stunning buildings, landscaping and design. We had the main Estate house for the girls to get ready in all morning & afternoon long which is so roomy, being a whole house, and created a perfect backdrop for photos. While the guys didn't need much time or space to get ready, they also had their own space at the Hill House across the water. It was just nice having the whole wedding party on site to get ready and not have to worry about any transportation! One of the reasons we chose Walnut Hill was because of the rain plan. The covered pavilion allowed us to still have a stunning outside ceremony sheltered from any rain. The main Pavilion is absolutely stunning for reception! We had a 6o-ish person wedding and it did not seem like it was too large, as the layout was catered to fit any wedding size! Overall, Walnut Hill is an absolutely stunning venue with kind and caring people, I truly felt like I was having my own royal wedding with how dedicated everyone was to my now husband and I on our special day! Thank you Amanda and your amazing team!!!

These people don't care about their clientele and based on the revolving door at the staff level...it shows.. The picture attached is what you get for $87. A 14 ounce steak bone included-no sides. I used to go to this Club for the dining experience but when I heard they got a new chef....well...they got a new chef and boy have things gone downhill in a bad way. My steak was $60 and then they added in a 21% service fee (in addition to my monthly membership fee) and then I still needed to add in a 21% tip for the server who had the nerve to ask me if we wanted a bread service. Take your money and go somewhere else. Golden Corral cooks a better steak than what I got that night...A guest that was with me that night could not believe they had shrimp fried rice on the menu and said it would served in a take home cardboard Chinese restaurant box....Really...what an out of touch choice.

Jamie Thornton: It’s a beautiful, unique venue that will be great for pictures but it will not come without a price tag and a lot of stress on your end. Experience was negative from about the first week after signing a contract here and onward. Everything about this property is designed to limit flexibility for the customer and to benefit the owners. Examples - a week after signing our contract (18 months out from our wedding) we asked if we could move our wedding date a week because the photographer we wanted was unavailable, the date was available on the calendar and again we had been under contract 5 days for our wedding scheduled 18 months away. I was told I’d be charged almost $5k per the contract. Interestingly I came to check the reviews here at that time as I had never looked at them before and they had a 2 star rating from all the poor experiences people had in terms of how they managed COVID, forcing them to have Wednesday weddings and lack of flexibility. I find it interesting that now none of those reviews are to be found and they have a 4.9 rating 🤔. I suspect my review won’t remain long as well.Flash forward a few months and they decide to remove the log seating out of the wooded chapel and will not be replacing with anything or compensating, so now in addition to the almost $12k venue rental I now have to rent ceremony seating (trust me all other venues at that prices tag and even much lower provide ceremony seating, that’s supposed to be part of the benefit of hosting at a venue. Flash forward to my wedding day and there is an actual sales tour taking place on property with a bride and entire family walking all through the venue conducted by my day of coordinator that I’m required to utilize and pay for at this property ($2500). So this property that I’ve rented for $12k for this one day to be mine and the 2k coordinator I’ve paid to assist me for the day is now focused on selling the venue while I’m running things around myself. I was shocked the venue was available to others and they are using my set up (florals, furniture rental) etc as a means to sell their property. I was disappointed to say the least that even my wedding day wasn’t just MY day here. This is a super private venue so a little surprising to walk out of the bridal house to see a different family standing on the lawn on your wedding day. Interesting my coordinator said to me, “why don’t you go inside and relax” as I’m running things around myself, only to later realize I that was an effort to keep me from seeing they were inviting others out that day. All in all, it’s a pretty venue, my guests enjoyed it but I wouldn’t do it again at the meadows if I did it all over again.*Edited in response to location response: I left a fair and balanced review, I did not mark 1 star or go into detail about EVERY little thing that went wrong as you tried to do about every little effort you made on the positive end and I hesitate to even be pulled into that but certainly have a lot more I could add such as being told 24 hours before my wedding that the rain plan that was established weeks in advance wasn’t a legitimate plan because there “were tables stored there and we’d have to pull them all out and put them on the patio where the guest would walk through to enter the wedding” which left us panicking the day before with a 60% chance of rain. In addition many of the solutions below where you guys seemingly saved the day were solutions I, THE BRIDE came up with after being presented with problems the day of the wedding. So my original comment stands - this venue is beautiful and unique, your guests will love it, but it will not come without stress and a lack of flexibility. I believe another reviewer suggested getting a lawyer before signing this contract, so I’m not the only one who has had these experiences. I wish more people had been honest and shared this before I booked and therefore I’m doing that for future Brides so they can go in eyes wide open and be prepared.
Clare James: Had the pleasure of attending wedding at the meadows and it was so stunningly beautiful. I found myself meandering around property through all of their spots for ceremonies. I found this cute cabana while waiting for photos and fell in love with the metal work. Anyone that knows me, knows that I love cool, fun metal features in spaces :) The staff was so kind as well. The food was great--everything all around made for such a fun night!

The load in and load out for us is one of the best venues and the staff is always amazing. It’s such a pretty venue and all my brides love this place. The layout is perfect for any wedding and we have never had an issue here. Every wedding we’ve done with the staff here has been flawless, smooth and stress free. If you’re looking for a great place with a great team then this is it. We highly recommend having your wedding at The Meadows, especially with Timeless Events coordinating the day. 10/10

Lindsay Clark: We knew before going to see The Meadows that this was our dream venue. We were blown away by the different outdoor venue spaces and the indoor/outdoor reception space. This was one of the very few (maybe the only) wedding venue that we visited that had equal-quality spaces for both the bride/bridesmaids and groom/groomsmen to get ready. It was one of the most beautiful spaces and once we saw it we truly couldn't see ourselves getting married anywhere else.The only negative we found was that things we assumed would be included in the cost were an additional charge. (a few examples - Chairs for outdoor spaces, event insurance, plates/cutlery)

Brittany Smith: The best decision we ever made for our wedding was hiring Elizabeth and the amazing Southern Soiree team. If I could, I would give more than 5 stars!! My husband and I re-met across the country in Washington State. Although we were stationed for the military in WA, we dreamed of having our wedding in Hillsborough, NC, our hometown where we first met. Planning a long distance wedding with a 3 hour time difference would have not been possible without Elizabeth. She happily arranged and attended venue tours & vendor design meetings on our behalf when we could not be present. When we were in town, she was available to all our needs and pre-planned an efficient schedule for us to fit in the most planning activities in a short amount of time.Additionally, when thinking of our dream wedding, we imagined the day being very personalized to our love story. After sharing our story with Elizabeth, she immediately came up with a design board filled with creative and one-of-a-kind ways to honor our story into our big day. The inside of our venue, the Carolina Grove, was brought to life with lush greenery and neutral florals to mimic the outdoors. The high beams of the inside of the venue were decorated with string lighting to create the illusion of stars over the dance floor. Our table numbers were our personal photos from our many beautiful hikes & the escort cards were each a trail marker that matched each hike. Elizabeth even picked up Krispy Kreme donut holes the day of the wedding for our dessert flambé bar!If there were any hiccups on the day of the wedding, I never knew about it. Elizabeth and Lacey, our day of assistant, made sure everything went smoothly and we were never stressed or worried about complications. To this day, my dad still talks about how Elizabeth brought him a portable fan during the 85 degree heat on our August wedding day.More than anything, during this process, Elizabeth became a friend- she is the kindest, most caring, thoughtful, and genuine human. Everyone needs an Elizabeth during the wedding process - she is incredible at her job. She was our biggest advocate & cheerleader! She celebrated us every chance possible. On the Christmas before our wedding, she sent treats for us and our pups to celebrate the upcoming wedding year. On our wedding day, she sent me Starbucks, and gave me the best pep talk before going down the aisle. Most of all, when I saw everything come together at the grand reveal on wedding day, I couldn’t help but cry happy tears in pure gratitude for all the heart and soul she poured into making our special day a perfect dream. Selecting the A Southern Soiree team and Elizabeth as your wedding planners will be the #1 decision you make in the planning process. They will go above and beyond to bring your dream wedding to life.

We live in California, but the wedding was held in Durham, NC, where my daughter and her fiancé met in college. I've had prior experience planning large events and I know the importance of building a good team of vendors and coordinators to ensure a successful outcome. Planning such an important event out of state was initially a concern for me. In doing our research to find a good wedding coordinator, A Southern Soiree was recommended to us. There was not a question that went unanswered, a detail missed. The vendors we worked with exceeded our expectations in every measure. From the photographer to the florist...the cake to the DJ...the coordination with the chapel and rehearsal dinner venue, Gina was on every detail...and all the while, with a happy, positive and confident demeanor! My husband was so impressed with Gina that he called her out personally and thanked her during his Father of the Bride speech!I could go on and on, but suffice it to say, I would highly recommend Gina and A Southern Soiree for this most important occasion!

She pulled off our surprise wedding in less than 4 weeks and got us the best vendors- hair and makeup, jazz band, flowers, candles and lighting, catering, etc. Everything blew our expectations out of the water and she went above and beyond for us every step of the way.

Lacey and her team took charge of the situation and took note of every detail I mentioned or worried about from start to finish. From day 1 of meeting Lacey I was put at ease by her humor and laid back demeanor. She was great managing all things that came up without being overbearing. She constantly asks your opinion and doesn't insert herself into family dynamics or give unsolicited opinions. I would choose Southern Soiree over and over again! They were the perfect event coordinators.

I was lucky enough to work with Lacey leading up to my big day, and then Lacey and Victoria the day-of and let me tell you something: they were MAGICAL. Every single detail was thought of---from the months leading up to the wedding to the actual day-of. They were organized, coordinated, calm, collected, and SO kind and informative. The day would honestly not have been the same without Lacey there at the Umstead running the show with the team. As a previous event planner I am here to tell you: hire them for your big day. It will be one of the best decisions you make FOR SURE.
DJ Harlem Entertainment: I love working with the Southern Soiree team, they do an amazing job. They make my life so much easier as a DJ. Recently, I worked with Lacey. We had to work out logistics with setting up the monogram over the Dance Floor. She communicated with all vendors involved and scheduled a seamless setup time that allowed everyone to get in and get out in a timely manner. I couldn't have asked for a more perfectly executed plan of action. I've worked with every Planner on their team, they all get 5 stars!!!
Danielle Wong: My husband and I worked with Elizabeth for our wedding at the Umstead Hotel and Spa and she was AMAZING. Our wedding day could not have gone more smooth thanks to her coordination and organization. Elizabeth was more than a "day of coordinator" she was helping us from day one. Katie Stanley: My husband and I had the great pleasure of working with Megan to help plan our wedding this past November outside of Charlottesville, VA. From start to finish Megan was very detail oriented, timely, and so easy to get along with! We never felt pressure to make certain vendor choices however she ensured all of our decisions were informed. From late night e-mails to trips up to VA with us, she was by our side the entire way. Jillian Knight: Megan and the team at Southern Soirée epitomize professionalism. It was a joy to serve alongside of them for a spring wedding at The Merrimon-Wynne House. From the very beginning of the planning process through until after the wedding, the bride and groom spoke so highly of Megan and Gina. As a photographer, it is so refreshing to work with a planner like Southern Soirée who makes their client the priority. Prior to the wedding, they were hands on with providing information to vendors and made sure we were all on the same page. This made a huge difference in the success of the vendor team on the day of the wedding. We were all able to focus on serving the couple and making their day special. Gina handled the wedding day with grace and even made sure the couple had a moment alone to eat before being introduced to the reception.
