Kari Washburn: We used Cannon for our wedding day and did the stations. I have to say the food was amazing and all of our guests were extremely happy with it. We loved our tasting and all of the options Cannon has.I do have to say though that as we were getting closer to the wedding, it very much felt like we were getting just generalized template emails that were not including a lot of the specifics we had requested.For example, I had specifically asked for Navy table cloths since day 1 of our process and they kept leaving it to their default of black. Then I noticed they just brought black on the wedding day and completely ignored by request for Navy. I found out later that they actually had completely forgotten to bring any table cloths the day of the wedding and had to send someone to get them so apparently we were lucky there was table cloths at all. I had also requested the cute white lanterns they had and those never made an appearance. Thankfully my planner handled all of this and i didn't find out until after.Additionally we never saw the To Go Boxes we had requested and were really looking forward to those. I don't think they were ever put together for us which was disappointing.I will say the staff was very sweet on the wedding day and brought us our appetizers during photos which I know my husband loved. I just wish there had been more attention to our details in the end. It felt like they just did things their way without really listening in the end.
Danielle Cooley: Cannon catered my 70 plate wedding at a private residence. The food was amazing. The food was amazing. The service was impeccable. The bartender was charming and kept the alcohol flowing. They went above and beyond on the clean up and departure, leaving my venue cleaner than it was when they found it.The communication was timely from booking to clean up. And my every wish was fulfilled. I cannot recommend this company highly enough. Use them.

We loved our tasting and they were so accommodating to our preferences and dietary needs! After we booked them, they were so quick to respond to emails and provide information about anything we needed! Once the wedding came, the food was even better than I remembered! Our guests were raving over the stuffed mushroom appetizers and the shrimp scampi entree was a crowd pleaser as well. We added a hot beverage bar and mini desserts to go along with our main dinner service and I am so glad we did! It really added something special to our wedding for minimal additional cost. I really appreciated the transparent pricing and the affordable cost. We even got to take home leftovers and enjoy them after the wedding! Overall, great service & delicious food. Would 100% recommend for any wedding or event catering needs!

It was by far the best wedding food I’ve ever had and based on all the compliments, I think everyone agreed. For our appetizers, we chose shrimp&grits, stuffed mushrooms, and a ham biscuit and they were all so, so good. I could have easily eat so many of each! For our entree, we decided on a chicken and beef tips. Both were great, but the beef tips were *chefs kiss*. They were very flexible with some allergies and dietary restrictions that some of our guests had. They were very easy to work with during the planning process which is huge because I never stressed one time about our food. I highly recommend Cannon Catering for your catering needs.

We worked with Hollie throughout the process - she was so kind, flexible, and patient when I had a million questions. With a guest count of around 135 and a plan to serve a seated plated meal, we were understandably a little nervous about the amount of time there may be between tables being served and the temperature and quality of the food for that big of an event. We were nervous about nothing! All of the food choices we served turned out amazing on the day of and we had guests tell us it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding! The servers were attentive and nice. We also booked a bar package with Catering Works for our wedding - would highly recommend this as well. Took the worry out of providing our own alcohol. Catering Works offered good choices for their bar packages and there was no worry of running out of anything! One of the best decisions we made for our wedding day.

Phil Subscription: We went here for a tasting as we searched for a wedding caterer. See the picture below for the short rib we were served, borderline jerky. The quality was appalling, which seemed to be in contrast with all the other reviews. Perhaps the kitchen was just having an off day. The fish was also very fishy. The staff was very nice and understanding, but we were speechless and frankly pretty annoyed how much they charged us for the tasting but it was money well spent to know to avoid their food. We went with Rocky Top and they knocked it out of the park.

HF Leah: My mother hired Catering Works for a little brunch 60th anniversary party. About 35 people enjoyed beef short rib sliders, fruit kebabs, shrimp and grits, pastries and salads and roasted vegetables. Lots of sauces and dressings. Kevin and Dillon were fabulous! Maril Heglund: Do you need a place bigger than your living room to host a celebration? Would you like to have a personal, dedicated catering consultant to walk you through every step of the event? I used Catering Works and was assisted by a most capable, personable, and professional catering & sales consultant named Hollie. We used Catering Works' venue Laurelbrook. While we only had ~60 guests, everything was FLAWLESS. The staff was extremely attentive to our needs ... they tidied up the buffet table continuously and refilled our food items so that everything always looked fresh and appetizing. The food, itself, was everything that I've always known Catering Works to be. Delicious and attractively presented. I can't recommend Laurelbrook or Catering Works highly enough; I wish that I could give them more than five stars !!!

Kelli was incredibly responsive, accommodating, and flexible (they even helped us come up with a new appetizer idea that wasn't listed on the original list of options!). Johnna Kashmer: We used Catering Works for our May 14, 2022 wedding and we could not recommend them enough! Kelli was our point of contact, she was responsive, able to answer all our questions, and her and her team delivered the best catering experience for us and our guests. We received so many compliments on the food for weeks after our wedding and the service was top notch. We took pictures during cocktail hour and were worried we wouldn't get to try any of the apps we had picked out, but we had no need to worry because David with Catering Works hand delivered us plates during photos. He waited on us during dinner while our guests attended the buffet, and he made sure we always had drinks throughout the night. He was so kind, patient and simply amazing! If you are planning a wedding, Catering Works is the way to go!!

I have used Catering Works professionally many times and now personally and they are simply wonderful, very consistently wonderful service.

Despite us starting planning almost two years in advance, they kept the service costs the same as inflation went up. The food was very tasty. We mostly worked with Kayla who was patient and thorough. She also was always quick to respond. Our guests told us that the food was excellent, in particular the desserts. I am posted a photo of our beautiful and perfect cake in the review - we chose it as part of the $399 special for the cake. I would absolutely recommend the company and Kayla.

Carrie Jacobs: Ordered one of their classic picnic baskets for a concert at the NCMA and it was fantastic! Everything was packaged nicely and came with everything you’d need- plates, silverware, plenty of napkins, hand sanitizer. The food was delicious and a great value. My husband and I ordered the two person basket and it came with a ton of food… we couldn’t finish it all! Anytime we go to the NCMA for a concert and the picnic baskets are an option- we are getting one.
Hannah Werth: We hired Catering Works for my wedding at the NC Botanical Garden in Chapel Hill and I could not have been happier with their food or their service. Hollie, the catering consultant, was amazing. She helped us navigate the whole process and always responded quickly to emails. The 10 staff on site for the wedding helped the whole event run smoothly and on time. And the food was great, we received a lot of compliments. We had the maple thyme roasted chicken, the house smoked brisket, mac and cheese, and sauteed veggie medley for dinner, and all were delicious. For cocktail hour, we had a self-serve appetizer table with cheeses, fruits, veggies, dips, and crackers and that fit the event perfectly. They even boxed up all the leftovers for us at the end of the evening and sent a basket of goodies with me and my new husband at the end of the night. We were also able to provide our own alcohol and dessert for the wedding but have Catering Works staff serve it, which was another huge plus for me. If anyone is looking to hire a catering company for a wedding or other event, I would definitely recommend Catering Works!

Jena Costello: Many of the meals are truly outstanding. For several months, my family was spending an average of $200 per week and loving the good service and variety of healthy meals. We found that the quality was always good but there was inconsistency in the portion sizes. After a while, this really started to bug me because the meals are not cheap. I wrote a long, detailed message and included photos of two meals (one with a significantly small serving of veggies; the other lacking enough chicken to fill me up, and I'm a small person) but I got an error message when I hit "submit." No time to recreate all that.This was about one week after Chef Mario's price increase, which certainly added a reason to hesitate before ordering again. We did order two more weeks but were less impressed than we had been for so many months prior. Sad to say that ordering 4+ meals every week for my family of 3 is no longer worth the gamble.
Lisa Wilson: Chef Mario's food is incredible, there is a huge variety of yummy dishes. I decide how many meals I want every week and I'm not throwing out any unused groceries. I don't have to grocery shop for much, no food prep, barely any dishes. I have so much more time to spend with my family now. Affordable luxury at its finest. Thank you Chef Mario!

Keith McCormick: I've been getting Chef Mario's delivered for more than 20 years! During years of heavy business travel they were a life saver because I would come home to an empty refrigerator. During shutdown they were a lifesaver again. If I were to try to keep ingredients on hand I would almost certainly waste food. Over the years, I've had virtually no food waste. When each delivery arrives, I keep 4-6 of the meals fresh, and freeze the rest. When I get home from a long trip I move a couple of meals back into the fridge and I avoid a desperate run for takeout. Thank you Chef Mario's!

kile Law: We have heard of Cherf Mario and the great reputation but ordered the first time very recently. I ordered 3 different dishes for our family of four. my very picky husband and kids who always ask "Did you make this?" before trying anything that looks like I might have have had help all enjoyed all three meals. Veggie enchiladas and chicken pot pie were wonderful. If the crusts of the pie handn't been so perfect, I might have been able to pretend they were homeade! The portions are VERY generous and I have teensagers.Next time I will ask if the meals can be packed family style for ease of re-heating and to use less packaging. Delivery was on time, and everything was exactly as described. We will order again and I reccomend Chef Mario to all.
M F (Always on the run): We have been using Chef Mario's for about 6 months now and it's been amazing!! It's like having gourmet food without having to leave home. I love picking my meals and it always comes with an amazing salad, homemade dressing and precut fruit for the week to eat along with our meals. Delivered fresh to my door. I now can't imagine not having a few of these meals always ready to enjoy. Highly recommend!

We wanted more authentic Chinese food and the chefs tried some of our favorite local Chinese restaurants to create our unique menu. The intention and dedication to another cuisine meant the world to us. All of our guests said that this was the BEST food they have had at weddings and I could not agree more. Several people commented it was "the best wedding food" they had ever had. Their servers were efficient and friendly. One thing that sets them apart is that they build a kitchen on site. The food was so fresh. We had so much fun at our tasting. Everyone was so kind and I cannot recommend them enough. They are amazing! Everyone loved the boozy donuts.

Keilyn Luers: HL Catering Company is a one of a kind company. Not only do they have the best food compared to the other catering companies in the triangle area in my opinion, but the people also make it all worth it. This field is very fast paced, sometimes stressful, and is not your typical 9-5. However, the people are wonderful, the servers are amazing and hardworking, and I truly felt like a part of family. I worked as a server for them for 4 years before becoming a Sales and Event Coordinator, and I loved working in both roles. As a server, having the flexibility to choose my hours and see a lot of amazing events happen, while making a really great hourly wage, and as a coordinator, working to pull off even more amazing events and learn more about the events industry. The tips are great too! I had to leave due to moving out of state, but I still regularly come back to work events when I can, just because I miss everyone so much. If you are looking for unforgettable food, then HL is the catering group for you. Their attention to detail is so amazing! Michael and Kieara Wedding: HL was the perfect caterer for our wedding, and I couldn't recommend them enough!HL immediately stood out to us because they didn't simply respond to our inquiry with a list of standard catering options, instead they scheduled a call with us. On that call they asked questions about who we are as individuals, how we met, and they took the time to get to know us. After that call they put together a completely custom menu, just for us. For example, we met in little Italy in San Francisco, so the table bread was sourdough and focaccia. Its the little intentional details like that that made it easy to choose HL before we even did a tasting. Their food is absolutely fantastic, and our guests had so many creative and fun options. HL kept the wedding completely nut free, and even created a custom dish for a guest who is allergic to so much they usually have to pack their own meal for weddings. Their team went above and beyond for us, and we couldn't be more grateful. THANK YOU!

Taylor Bissell: HL worked closely with us for our June wedding to help create a menu that reflected our love of food and accommodated our guests varying dietary restrictions. Everything reflected our personality from a frose station welcome drink, to the burrata cart during cocktail hour and the late night sliders. There was a sudden summer storm that made dinner service more complicated for the team, but they handled it so seamlessly that none of the guests noticed. We have received so many compliments on both the food and service, we couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Yoon Chi: HL Catering exceeded our expectations!! Starting with the tasting, it was in the kitchen, Houston was there personally chatting with us and explaining his dishes as he brought them out. He went to pick basil from their garden as he prepared food and the smell of the fresh basil is still stuck in my mind! As he spoke, you could tell how much passion he had about food and helping people celebrate their events. After a couple of tastings at other vendors, HL made it easy for us to go with them!Our wedding was even better. The food was hot and moist. We went with short beef rib, salmon, chicken and vegan dishes, apple pudding and hot chocolate/coffee bar to finish. Every guest had nothing but the best to say about the food and preparations. Meredith was on top of everything and was able to adapt to some changes that weren't explained to her. She made it seem like nothing went awry and was so responsive. She was also very friendly during the whole time. She was very flexible with our requests and was willing to work with our ideas and requests.The team was very professional and were perfect! Morgan Greenwood: We hired HL catering for our sit-down luncheon wedding reception (07/24/21) and it was a the most delicious decision we ever made!!! The HL team was so great to work with, they created our dream menu with just our direction of "delicious, fresh, local and veggie-forward." Our tasting with them was so fun and collaborative, a true highlight of the whole wedding planning process! My favorite thing about them was their culinary creativity. They took dishes like chicken salad and made it original, made watermelon taste better than I could imagine, and introduced us to new things like NC shrimp panzanella. Katlin Voigt: After we got engaged in January 2020 we started planning for our November 2020 wedding. I connected with HL Catering at a wedding industry event in January 2020 and really enjoyed their food and how friendly they were in-person.We ultimately chose HL Catering because of the exquisite custom menu they put together to fit our cultures and style...and dietary restrictions! I am gluten free and they were willing to create a custom gluten free menu that lacked nothing - flair, creativity and taste. Our guests would have never known everything was gluten free! They truly helped cultivate a wonderful menu and when we got the chance to finally taste-test the food, we were blown away.Sadly we were unable to have our wedding due to the Governor's restrictions in November and we didn't get to see the full vision of their culinary creations come to life. HOWEVER as a bride who went through the ringer with several Raleigh vendors who were completely ugly during the cancellation process, I was so thankful that HL was accommodating and gracious. They were able to be flexible with us and still help us through the cancellation process that ended up being a compromise for both of us and a win in our eyes.If you're looking for amazing creativity and exquisite food, HL Catering Company is definitely where you want to look. If you want a company that is empathetic, compassion, and treats you with kindness and sincerity, then HL Catering Company is definitely your company!

I have always enjoyed hosting parties at my home for the last 30 plus years, but for the most part, I have prepared the food for my events/parties on my own. However, due to time restrains, I decided to use HL catering for my daughter's graduation party as per a recommendation from my wedding planner. On a scale of 1-10...I'd rate them a 15!!! WAY EXCEEDED my expectations!I wanted my guests to have great, HOT food and HL did not disappoint!!!! My guests raved at the quality and taste of the food which included pulled pork sliders with slaw, Thai Chicken skewers, tomato and mozzarella skewers with basil and balsamic reduction, asiago stuffed potatoes and sweet potato ham biscuits. DELICIOUS!!!!Miranda was absolutely amazing and did an impeccable job with the menu planning, set-up and rental of all the necessary items needed for the party (linens tables, plates and glassware). The display of the food was absolutely GORGEOUS!!!! And I loved the touch of the menu items written out, framed and displayed on my kitchen island to let my guests know what the food items were. Despite the challenges of the Covid-19, Miranda made this party easy, elegant and efficient due to the requirements that would not allow for servers to be present for parties of my size. I will never cook again for my events/parties!!! Thank you Miranda and HL for a job WELL done. Could not be better!!!
The Meadows: We'll shamelessly say that our whole staff volunteers to work whatever wedding HL Catering is cooking for; their food and staffing are both exquisite. Far from conventional wedding fare, their choices are always creative twists on everyone's favorites: bite sized tacos served on slate trays, donut poppers equipped with icing shooters, opulent and edible tablescapes, and more. We can't recommend Houston and Miranda happen to be some of the easiest, most generous, and thorough vendors in the industry. These would be 5 Michelin stars if we had a say!
Shelby Bickel: I think we can all agree that the worst part about the majority of weddings we go to, is the boring “wedding food” – consistently decent is considered the standard at even high budget weddings. If you’re cool with that, and lots of people are because it is an easy place to cut costs, then look somewhere else, because NOTHING about HL Catering is decent, it is incredible. People are still coming up to me and talking to me about the brussel sprouts. And come on – if someone liked the brussel sprouts that much, imagine how good everything else was.Quality of food aside, HL was a dream to work with. Working with Miranda on a taste menu, making edits based on cost, quantity, etc was super easy and she was literally the sweetest. Then fast forward to the taste test – Chef Houston was there himself going over every single thing, from appetizers to stations to desserts and taking notes to make everything absolutely perfect. Then wedding night – food was just as great as it was when we did our small, family sized trial, which is tricky for 130 guests. On top of that, they sent us home with a beautiful antique basket (courtesy of Houston’s mother, so I am told) full of food from the wedding, which came in so clutch around 1AM after a night of drinking!With a rockstar bench of vendors, it is impossible to say who was the best decision we made while planning the wedding- let’s just say that they were phenomenal and tie for first place with all of our other vendors 😉 I can’t recommend them enough, if you are looking for amazing food and an amazing team to work with – these are you guys.

Meghan Spivey: I bought one of their quiches from a market. Cooked it according to the directions, but it didn't set up and was more of a liquid. Even after cooking an additional 20 min, it was a puddle.

The Chicken pot pie was made with shredded chicken, always had diced. Little to no gravy and just a few peas! Never again.Then the beef stroganoff I make it better using hamburger helper! The quiche was ok still disappointing.
