The Fire Place and Patio, Inc: what do users think?
Sue Cotton: I have had trouble since buying from The Fire Place and Patio store. Several issues that have not been resolved. Spent a lot of money and I still don't have logs that work. Poor customer service. Make sure your logs work before paying for them.Unhappy customer
Charles Weickert: John was super responsive and helpful with the plethora of questions I had about my non-functioning LP vented fireplace. He was quick to diagnose issues and helped install a beautiful new unit. Will definitely be recommending and coming back for any future servicing needs.
shawn gordon: Place must be a money laundering joint. No gas logs are on display running.
Alex Krohn: John is great, super knowledgeable, and very honest. He led me through everything over email, we chose the right insert, then his guys came to install it. He came out to personally make sure everything was done correctly, and even went out of his way to right a wrong when it came up. I really appreciate his attention to detail, honesty and craftsmanship. I'd definitely recommend him to a friend.
Josh Cohn: Our initial purchase and quality of product and service was good. We had a good turn around time on installation of a gas fireplace; a replacement for an older propane set of logs. However, after just one summer, the remote / pilot light didn't work. I contacted them and only got spotty responses, asking if I checked the batteries. They are pretty busy and supply chain issues have taken their tool, but they did what they could. I took a few days, but I got a response back that they were sending a technician out with new parts to install. The installer did a nice job confirming the issue I reported and installed new parts to get us going again. They honored the warrantee and completely replaced the old burner unit. My only complaint is that I hope next time they give me some time frame for when they expect they can do repairs and be more responsive to phone calls.
Deborah Kish: I tried several times to contact them and never heard back. Now that I read the reviews, I am glad they never did. I did find a good reputable business that will do the install for me and happy that it is not The Fire Place and Patio.
CW: If I could rate them negatively...I would. Started talking with Ray the first week in December of 2019. Ordered a set of doors (he came to our house and took measurements early Jan 2020). Placed doors on order. Was notified after MULTIPLE unanswered emails in March 2020 that the doors were declared lost in shipping and that the door manufacturer was redoing the order. After two months of unanswered emails, Ray finally replied and said we would have to resubmit a new order form and this time we would need to make a template for the door. We did this and sent it to him (Ray did not want to come to our house or have us go to the shop due to COVID). This was June of 2020. I did not hear ANYTHING else from Ray (after I had MULTIPLE unanswered emails and left MULTIPLE voicemails on their work number) until NOVEMBER 6, 2020. Ray apologized, and said he would “make it right, and that the doors were scheduled to ship on 20 November 2020”. I tried contacting them repeatedly to get a status(unanswered emails to Ray and the Yahoo email on their website and their office number) through the end of November and all of December 2020 ....but no answer. Finally in February 2021, Ray reached out and said they were resubmitting the order and that we would have to redo the template. Luckily we had never been asked to pay money to Ray. The absolute WORST communication and service I have had from a business. I truly feel that we were lied to on multiple occasions. My recommendation is to drive 1 mile down the road to another business.*NOTE: We went to The Firehouse Casual Living store (just down the road from Ray and the Raleigh Fireplace) on 6 Feb 2021. We had a professional installer call us on 7 Feb 2021, and they came to our house and took measurements on 8 Feb 2021. Doors were placed on order on 9 Feb 2021.
B: Also know as Raleigh Fireplace and The Fireplace. If I could give less than 1 star I would.I will warn you that once your purchase is complete your warranty is worthless because they will not call you back and you will be stuck. I spent over $5000 for a wood burning insert and have had problems with the blower from day 1. I even called the district manager who promised he would have John contact me. That was 3 weeks ago and I've heard nothing from either of them.Today I paid a local service person who was able to fix it in 15 minutes. Turned out the sensor had not been properly installed. I will glady absorb this cost just to not have to deal with them any more.
Brian Wingo: Extremely helpful. Quick turn around on our gas logs.
Kathy Kastan: I have been trying to get someone to return my calls and my email messages through their website for many months. I've heard good things but I am very disappointed by their poor customer service. Once I did talk to the owner and he said someone would get back to me within a day and he thought they could help us with our difficulties with our Fyre Place log sets. Never heard from anyone. Very Frustrating!
gene knish: John was very knowledgeable and friendly. Huge help on information regarding my gas fireplace and what I needed.
Joe Lapp: I stopped by with some questions about an old insert that I had recently purchased and Ray took the time to answer every question. He was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.
Kim Raynor: Ray is so helpful and honest! Thanks for the help Ray!
David Henderson: These guys were very easy to work with. Others had turned up their nose when I said that I needed new logs for my 25-year old gas log setup, telling me that they could only be sold with a specific gas burner unit (mine still works fine). When they called to say they had arrived - we had ordered a set that wasn't in their store - they even sent someone to drop them off on the front porch. Good service!
kenan johnston: If you are looking for a custom fireplace store in the Triangle, look no further! My wife and I built a house recently. After the plans were finalized, we realized that the designer had a vent less gas log system in mind where he placed the fireplace. After speaking with John and other fireplace stores, we did not feel this was the best fit for our home.My wife and I walked into this store on a whim. Could not be happier to have found them. John spent a long time looking at the plans and coming up with a solution. We ended up moving the location of the fireplace and going with a wood burning stove. Of all the features in our new home, this one is my personal favorite!
Doug Howey: I sent them a message about replacing our old buck stove insert with gas logs. John replied back that a gas insert would be better. We visited their showroom and spoke with Ray who was very helpful. Did the fireplacex design, sent to John who promptly responded with quote. We had the insert installed the next week. John and his crew were very professional, cleaned up and explained how to operate concisely. Highly recommend!
Ben LoCascio: I would not trust this company to safely install a fireplace in my house. I reached out to them as the fireplace experts regarding installing a fireplace insert in my home. They told me I needed to install an outlet in the back of the fireplace for the blower to plug into. After paying an electrician to do this work, I heard from the fireplace manufacture that this unit can not be plugged in behind the fireplace, because it would melt the wiring and could cause an electrical. I then reached back out to Ray to try to understand what happened, and he never responded to another one of my emails or calls. They are a very shady and dangerous company to work with. I would recommend Smoke Alert or Mr. Smokestack. Both are excellent and honest companies.
William Carawan: Had one of their fireplaces for 2 1/2 yrs. Their support and service is excellent!
Ken Mabe: Unfortunately, I can not recommend this company. It started of great, with a visit to their showroom, and Ray even came to the house to measure and make sure everything would fit.Nov15 he sent over the estimate, and I gave him the ok to order it and put us on the books for installation. No Response. Nov19, sent email asking if we were on the schedule to install. Nov20, response, order has been placed, once he gets confirmation of shipping, he can schedule us, "I'll be in touch"With followup calls to the store (9663) on 11/25, 11/26 (twice) - vm each time due to "heavy volumn", then multiple emails just asking for a response on Dec3. No response. The last email was just asking, if you cant do the job, just let us know, no hard feelings, we will move on. But nothing. We were excited to get it rolling, just didnt work out, so, I am unable to recommend them.
Kedron Diddle: I’ve driven to this place multiple times during “open” hours and they are NEVER open!!!
chris lamela: Ray at The Fire Place knows what customer service is all about. Simply amazing people that really know their stuff and won’t try to upsell you. The Fire Place is the ONLY place to go for your fireplace needs in the Raleigh area

Dickerson Hearth Products Inc: what do users think?
L Brown: Purchased a fireplace and logs from them months ago for a new home build. I got the fireplace, no logs. They will not answer the phone. Builder can’t get them to answer either. Very frustrating.
Ed Jacobson: Poor Quality Installation with DELAYS DELAYS DELAYS ! NO CUSTOMER SERVICE OR SATISFACTION !!
Joe Zajac: This company does not respond to the emails I send. Installed wrong color on my chimney. Had to reorder and install. Had roof inspected and used wrong material on the cap. It was rusting and installed with roofing nails. Now it’s been almost a month after I informed them of problem still not corrected. Call today and said they would call me back. There salesman I purchased from does not respond. Joe Zajac
Sarah Jackson: After scouting over several different Hearth/Chimney services, I can assure you Dickerson has the most unreliable service in the Raleigh area. No other service provider that I attempted to work with had an automated telephone service; the others gave me direct lines and I had absolutely no trouble reaching them. With Dickerson, I called and left detailed messages over and over again and received no response. In my experience with home improvement projects, reliable communication between the homeowner and the contractor makes the difference between success and failure. A concerned homeowner will want to entrust their project to a contractor of the highest accountability. Dickerson is not that contractor.
Matt Burns: We wanted to build an outdoor kitchen and fire pit for our house that we're renovating in Raleigh. The guys at Dickerson were awesome to work with; They handled the job from start to finish and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. Would highly recommend their products and services.
Brittnee Rambo: I didn’t have the smoothest experience with my fireplace from Dickerson. I had 3 main hiccups during my set up/start up process. But, I can say they gave each issue their full attention and resolved the issues with a positive and customer-friendly attitude. Charlie did a great job managing each hiccup and coming up with solutions. I appreciate the follow through and the customer service.
Jose Ruiz: I am shure is the # 1..
Dennis Tharrington: You just cannot find a better group of folks or anyone more helpful with selections, advice, installations, ....the whole works! A top-notch company with great personnel.
Merry Ann Cutler: Excellent choice of fireplaces, interior and exterior, mantels, logs, stones, rock. Personal attention and care above the rest!!!
Tyree Gill: Good experience and nice people
cathy morley: If you need more information before buying, dont go here!, Salesman had no clue about the prodicts that he was selling, very limited selection instore as well, but was surprised by the low level of customer service
Byrd Kirby: Dickerson Hearth installed a fireplace for me they knew was faulty without informing me about the issue. Then only after it was installed they advised that the control panel was faulty and it would be a couple of months before the replacement was in. It ended up being weeks longer than originally promised, so we missed the entire first winter's use. Now in our second winter we learn actually it wasn't the control panel it was a different part so after only a couple of weeks of use once again it isn't working and they can't even give me an estimated date on replacement because the manufacturer can only supply a few at a time. Stay away they are dishonest and their product is terrible!!
Kathryn Coley: Best place to get everything related to your fireplace or outdoor kitchen. They have the most amazing products. And the employees are wonderful and kind to work with.
Barbara Conrad: Excellent experience from start to finish. Hill is very well informed about the products Dickerson offers and spent time fine-tuning the selection to our room size and budget. Work started on the day and time promised and Dustin and Daniel knew what to do and how to do it from the start. No second guessing; just worked quietly and quickly until the job was finished. The attention to detail and overall quality is top drawer. Hill is still checking-in with us to make sure everything is working properly. We are very happy with the Dickerson team...couldn't ask for a better sales/install service.
Gregg Davis: Professional and courteous. Great products and great crew. I wouldn't use anyone else!
Ryan Brooks: Extremely poor customer service and very difficult to work with. We paid Dickerson Hearth additional repair fees after the initial installation of the fire place only to find out later, after a professional home inspection, that the repairs were not done correctly. When I called Dickerson Hearth to discuss their poor service they were unwilling to help me or work with me in any way and shouted at me that it would be $125 fee just to look at the fire place.
Eithne Burke: We really wanted to like this business. They do have a nice showroom, and they were very friendly and helpful when we went to look, and we bought a pricey stainless steel fire (good for indoor and out) the very same day (nearly 4K). The problem was that either the wrong package of accessories (vent) were ordered by them, or not at all (fan control) - the wrong wall vent came and was installed by our builder before we realized it was the wrong size……and it delayed finalization of our home extension by over three weeks. They eventually sent the techs out, but the delay was totally avoidable, and seemed careless, and cost us a lot of frustration and back and forth communication, and delay in finishing other aspects of the extension. We also realized we needed a fan control late in the order (the fan is VERY noisy), that should have been recommended initially. It took weeks of and back and forth, with the final decision that a technician needed to install it, (appt made, we waited and waited) only to change their mind without letting us know, and shipped it instead (one simply plugs it in, its simple), with no communication. At the end of the day, its a lovely fireplace (not cheap), it works well (pending testing it next winter), its aesthetic to look at, but it was overall a very patchy service and follow up.
Jhared Smith: I bought a nice new house built by Bill Clark Homes last August. I'm happy with it. We had a 1-year warranty to stamp out any issues, and the builders left a sticker with the numbers and contact info for everyone who worked on my house. Nice! I've called most of them to fix the odd or end here and there over the past year. In the spring, I shutoff the pilot light for my gas fireplace that was installed by Dickerson. At about $8-10 a month, I would end up saving about $50 by the time I needed to turn it on again. Well, based on the current temps, that time is today. Had I remembered to, I would have tried to do so BEFORE my 1-year warranty was up. Egg on my face. The fireplace will not start - the pilot light just will not turn on. I call Dickerson at the number left for me, and give them my lot # and location. They tell me that due to my 1-year warranty being up, I would need to pay a $75 service call fee. For a 13-month old fireplace. No thanks. A quick web search turned up some nice instructions on checking the major culprits. The first thing I notice is that whoever installed the gas valve under this thing did a really terrible job of placing it - the valve is resting tightly against the fireplace mechanics, and these is 0 room for movement. It looks rather unsafe, but only a call to the gas company will reveal that. I remove the front glass panel and checking the piezo ignition. No spark. No matter how many times I push. Great. That explains why it won't light! One $3 bic stick lighter later and my fireplace is back in business. My fault for not utilizing my warranty to the fullest before it was up, but given that this is a product that is - at best - good for only 1/3 of the year in NC, you would think there would be better options for warranty. Regardless, it doesn't sound like you can trust the installation or product quality from Dickerson.
Michael Shea: Very poor. 5 missed appointments to bring a gas grill. When they came, it was not completely installed or built, it took 3 more missed appointments to get them to finish it, and when they did, they removed a leaky gas hose. Two weeks later, they still have not installed the removed hose. Calls into them are met with "Oh, I though that this was cared for" (twice!!). So far, one month in, and cannot use the thing. One lame excuse after another.Do yourself a favor, skip these people. Glad I paid via a credit card, I have a recourse. Never again.

SMG HEARTH AND HOME: what do users think?
Aaron Crownoble: These guys are awesome. I got my product to Arizona 4x giant freight pallets. And it only took from Thursday mid day and it arrived Tuesday the next week at a very reasonable price! Good communication Joe also, knowledgeable and thoughtful. Really like these guys!
David DeLauder: We live in Northern Michigan where the winters are brutal and cold. We choose to install a Pellet stove from SMG Hearth some three years ago. The pellet stove is a ComfortBilt HP 22. I installed it myself and we are still using it with very little problems. I recommended the stove to a buddy of mine and he purchased the same stove. After running Approx. 9 tons of pellets through it became dirty and shut down. During this time he died of cancer and his wife called me for help. I needed parts and help from SMG Hearth.I first called the owner who told me just how to correct my problems and stayed on the phone until I fired the stove. after cleaning and getting the stove ready to go I ran into several little problems.Glen (owner and CEO) was of great help and his technical staff Johnathon and Tyler are awesome and i thank them.
Scott216 Reed111: Quality products and great customer service
William Heller: Absolute best company to deal with. Highly recommend them.
Minh Huynh: Was highly recommend by a good friend and was well worth the drive. I went to the main warehouse and meet Glenn Turley (Owner/Ceo). Glenn was very helpful and spend about 2 hours total in 2 days to help select and setup my new pellet stove. I would highly recommend buying a stove from here vs the big box stores. The quality and design are better then most expensive stoves at the box stores. Best value vs anyone local in NC. Oh and here's the kicker, he has them in stock vs the box stores that have to order them and charge you $150 or more for shipping.

Mr Smokestack Chimney Service: what do users think?
Dan Rutt: Scam artists. Yes, I accidently called and booked an inspection from an email they sent telling me it was time for my chimney inspection. I did ask, "this is inspection to keep the warranty from the work you did?" the response was YES this was my annual inspection of the chimney and gas logs. I later realized that I had scheduled the wrong company and cancelled but they refused to refund the deposit. They knew DAMN WELL I had only got a quote from them but never had the work done because they were over priced and quoted items totally unnecessary to make the repairs. They refuse to refund a $75 deposit. Not only did they prey on me, they are attempting to steal business from other companies with their underhanded tactics. Go anywhere for chimney service but here.
Beth Melcher: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueWe had damage to our chimney and needed to make sure it was safe to use. Andrew and is colleague did a great job. They were timely, thorough, knowledgeable, and courteous. Would highly recommend.Service:Chimney inspections
Lauryn McCord: The technicians who came out were incredible! They explained everything thoroughly and answered every question I had. I would definitely recommend them to a friend!
Champloo Sloppy: Critical:ProfessionalismA Mr.Smoke Stack truck just passed me going around 70mph in a 55 zone and I was going 60mph. The lanes were double soild and they almost caused an accident with incoming traffic. Not smart to drive around crazy with your company logo wrapped around the truck.
Sherry Heft: Mr Smokestack did an amazing job assessing what was needed for my project; including chimney cleaning and repairs, removing a 50+ year old wood burning stove insert and installing gas logs in my 2 fireplaces.Greg and his team did an outstanding job with installation and chimney repair. Brittany (in the office) kept in close contact with me sending appointment reminders and calling with updates. CJ answered all my questions about the whole process and helped me decide which gas log’s would be best for my formal and informal fireplaces. The selection of logs they offer is very nice and they are the most realistic and beautiful logs I have owned to date.I highly recommend Mr Smokestack! Their work ethic and professionalism is second to none. You will not regret doing business with them.Service:Stove fireplace cleaning
Christian P: Drew and Donnie came out to repair our chimney crown. Did a great job and were very professional.
Francine Cerami: Wow! Totally impressed with the service I received. We had our fireplace and flu inspected first. We scheduled our ventless fireplace logs for cleaning and service. We received reminders of appointments and calls and texts when they were in their way. They were always in time. They serviced our fireplaces. We’re respectful of our home with booties etc and extremely polite and neat. Highly recommend Mr Smokestack! Extremely knowledgeable and left a full report for each fireplace.Service:Chimney inspections
Sabrina Kay: The two technicians who came to my house gave me a call 30 minutes prior to them arriving which was so helpful! They were so knowledgeable and took time to explain everything carefully to me! They took good photos of the inside and outside of my chimney which arrived immediately in my email inbox, and they gave me good advice on how to proceed this coming winter. I asked them several questions about a job that had just been done on my roof which affected my chimney, and they gave me excellent advice. They took their time, cleaned up very carefully, and were extremely polite and respectful. I felt comfortable having them in my home as a single female. This is the second time I've used their company, and I am so glad I did! I absolutely highly recommend Mr. Smokestack--I feel my chimney is safe and ready for winter when it arrives. I wish I could give more than 5 stars!

William Sheppard: Mr. Smokestack worked with us over the course of a couple months to get our definitely unsafe fireplace/chimney (uncapped, not swept/maintained by previous owners, and with a slammer lacking a chimney liner to boot) up and running again. Now thanks to a new rain cap, through cleaning, and wood stove w/liner our chimney is secure from further water damage/animal intrusion and safe to burn in for the first time in decades. It's hard to find knowledgeable sweeps, but these guys definitely qualify.Services:Chimney inspections,Chimney repair restoration,Rain cap installation,Chimney cleaning,Fireplace installations

Fireside Hearth & Home: what do users think?
Despina Viniotis Curtis: i get you merged into one big company but have some integrity and desire for longevity…. this is by far the most dishonest, sleezy, negative customer service company i’ve ever come across. chris obrien is our builder’s rep and he took the fireplace order just fine, but then left a whole string of loose ends or issues, even frivolously charged $250 after to “come back and place in framing correctly and rebook to gas line” (funny, they claim they did this and yet we did it since we had inspection the day BEFORE they claim they came) and fell off the face of the earth. no communication whatsoever. i’ve gone several months pregnant banging on the doors asking for help too. they drop shipped two fireplaces to the construction site and let no one know (the super was mad for the upteenth time with their process, but not surprised) and then left them plagued with problems for us to just figure out i guess. so here we were months and months ago and are still, now literally days before i have this baby, trying to hail mary jump through hoops to get inspections on time, correcting and paying for damages as a result of their inexcusable lack of follow though or attempting to do their job because they leave you high and dry. great company values when you sell something you can’t even turn on. warranty? i doubt they’ll bother if there’s an issue at any level. what a low life company. every builder i’ve talked to wants them gone. our builder is now talking about withholding money until they do what’s right. but it’s already cost us more than we should have ever paid. i would never in good faith recommend this company or be trusting any of the people there. i would have saved time and money and stress and resulting damages if i ordered online and installed with a third party company. i’ll be doing my part to report them soon and hope if you have the same experience you do to. otherwise, please look at the shared reviews here and avoid like the plague.
Brian Krakover: Let me start by saying this review was going to be much lower due to problems with delivery, communication and set up. However, one employee’s recent intervention changed that- Chris Faller. He not only got involved in our issues, but he called us quickly, came to our house quickly and resolved issues that had been unaddressed for weeks. It is amazing how one person can effect change. He answered our questions, problem solved and got us scheduled for the next step quickly. Thank you Chris! I only down graded to a four star review because of the issues prior to him- otherwise, he would have earned five stars!!!
Margaret Larson: Horrendous service.Messages left to schedule service call were not returnedWhen we called back several days later, and reached someone, they could not schedule a call for nearly 4 weeks. Today we waited 5 hours and they never showed. We finally determined that well after the scheduled time, they called an old, incorrect phone number and left a voicemail on someone else’s voicemail saying we can’t make it. No apology. No rescheduling.Terrible company. Go elsewhere.
Kyle Brezina: Fireside Hearth & Home acquired Dickerson in the middle of my fireplace installation. That led to some confusion getting final installation booked, but Fireside was very helpful and prompt once we got in touch. Charles came to do the final installation of my fireplace. He was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Thanks!!
Robert Hutchins: The customer service in this place is absolutely HORRENDOUS. Avoid it like the plague. I would absolutely never, ever do business with them again.
Billie jo: Terrible customer service! They claim our fireplace was installed 6 months before our house was built, this means one of our warranties has expired and the house hasn't even been here for a year. So, they are cheating us out of our warranty. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I REALLY wish I could get ahold of someone at their corporate office. Calling them has been useless too. It's automated and the only options you have are different brands of fireplaces. I'm going to keep trying though.
Paul Failor: BEWARE!!!! This company is pathetic…bought two fireplaces for my new house I built… they should have been out to final set up of my fireplaces long before I moved in and they didn’t.., I have now been in for three weeks and no one will even give us a courtesy call back..,I and my builder have called and text Marcie someone that is suppose to set these things up and my sales rep Rodney tons of times.., and neither think it’s important to call back or finish the job they have been paid in full to do…I encourage everyone to find a different fireplace company to buy from.., there are plenty out there… Remove this company from your list because when they get your money they do not care about you any longer!!!
Kenneth Neuhoff: As a building contractor I understand the struggles that suppliers have been having and I also understand the challenges of taking over a company. We have done business with Dickerson Hearth for years with outstanding service. The transition to Fireside Hearth has been the worst that I have ever experienced. I can't tell you how many times our company has called, emailed, and texted to try and get jobs finished. It has been extremely frustrating and in some cases put us in difficult situations with our customers. Now 5 months later we are down to one job that needs to be completed and need a remote control receiver and transmitter for a set of gas logs. We have been holding the full payment until this is completed and have notified Fireside of this and they still will not finish the work.Based on our experience, we cannot recommend Fireside Hearth and Home.
Mesha Batts: Bad customer service when I called. Plus the lady hung up while I was asking a question. Unfortunately the builder used them so I have to continue to deal with this
Duane Everding: Over a year later and we’re still waiting on a natural gas to propane conversion to “come in”. This entire new build neighborhood doesn’t even have natural gas service. We may need to replace the entire fireplace because the current one is completely unusable in current condition.
Mahesh Nettam: Called multiple times for fireplace installation. Agent took my details, no call back.Gave up after multiple call attempts. One star for neighbor recommendation.
Mashimaro Umaru: They never answer the phone!!!I've tried 5 times to leave all my needs online (they never reach me back!)I've tried call them between 7am to 1pm (they never pick up the phone!)What is going on with this business?I closed my house about two weeks. Their 175$ off is a scam. I'll talk to my lawyer about this!
Justin Raymond: I am not someone that leaves reviews. I am also not someone who bashes companies, but I've had enough. I understand that stuff is back-ordered. I know that people are short-staffed, but come on now. We had our fireplace installed by them. The fireplace works fine, but we've been waiting on the refractors (back wall) forever!!!!!!! They finally show up at our house to install them, and we find out one of the refractors is broken. Ok, it happens. We waited and waited. Then received another phone call saying they had the piece in stock and they'd like to schedule a time to come by and install. So we agreed on a time and day. Then I get a phone call the morning of installation... the new refractor we have for you is broken. Really????? BTW... if you call them, it says to text them, and most of the time, they don't text back.EDIT: We finally have everything installed at our house and it works perfectly and looks good. Thank you! They have good products, their installers are vey nice, but the company just isn't good at communication.
William Sujack: Long post: summary (avoid this company if you can). Zero stars if we could. We bought a new home and closed in October of 2021. The builders installed a fireside fireplace and all we had to do was call to get a technician out to turn it on. Easy enough right? Wrong.FIRST appointment was over 30 days after calling and the time of arrival was supposed to be between 12-4. Took off work and no one shows up. We get a call at 7 pm asking if it was still okay to come. Absolutely (stuff happens). One part needed to be re-placed so the job wasn’t able to be done and we had to reschedule again about 30 days out. Annoyed but that’s okay.SECOND appointment was between 12-4 and again I take off from work. 10 MINUTES before our appointment they call and say the part never came in due to shipping delays…10 minutes!? When they knew the part wasn’t going to be installed. Furious at this point for blatantly wasting my time. A simple call to re-schedule or give a heads up more than 10 minutes before would be standard in my mind. Now we have our THIRD appointment (2 and a half weeks later) and again I take off work. I asked to be notified a week in advance if the part was going to be installed (due to not wanting to take off work if it wasn’t) and I was re assured I would get a call for confirmation. Never happened so of course I have to reach out yet again. Day of our third appointment arrives and during the 8-12 window it’s all crickets. No text, no call just waiting around to see if they will actually show up. They eventually come an hour after the 4 hour window I was provided with zero communication. My problem with this company is poor communication and unreachable/unreliable customer service. You can never call and talk to customer service directly. You must call and leave a message for someone to get back to you in about 3-5 business days (or whenever they feel like it).I will never recommend this company to anyone nor will we ever use again. I’m sure I’ll get a customer service rep response stating COVID issues with staffing and they are sorry for my experience, but if you look at past reviews these problems have been an issue way before COVID. Do better please.Only saving grace is their very nice technicians. I waited this long to post due to worries of the company seeing it and not finishing the job. Will
Troy Parrott: We would give 0 stars if it was an option. We moved into our new home in late Nov. and are still waiting for this company to complete their job. They never answer the phone, they don't call back when you leave messages, and someone named Amanda might email you back some time later...I wish builders in this area would start using a more responsive and reliable company. We are stuck with these guys due to 'warranty coverage'... Amanda told us they would complete the work in January.
Paul Satterwhite: I bought two fireplaces and paid for them upfront and it took months to get them installed. I then had to get the logs installed and couldn’t get anyone to call me back or service me. This is one of the worst companies I’ve ever dealt with bar none. Please don’t use them you’ll hate it.
Sarah Chaffin: We have a new home, and our builder’s warranty requires we use this company to start and service our fireplace. We tried for weeks to reach them to start our fireplace with no response. I had to reach out to our builder, who contacted them and only then did Fireside respond to us.We had to wait several weeks for an appointment. They were supposed to come between 12-4 today. To nobody’s surprise, they have been a no-call, no-show, and when I tried to contact the company, their message says they are closed for the day.I have reached out to our builder again in the hopes of getting someone out to start our fireplace. I would never use this company if it wasn’t required for our warranty. If you have the choice, run as far away from this company as possible!
Amber Plouffe: If I could give zero stars, I would. I can't get anyone to get back to me about setting our fireplace up. Been trying for a few weeks now and have heard nothing back. They say they will respond within 24 hours but never do. Avoid this company if you can. Horrible customer service!!
Alan Piercy: If I could give less than one star, I would. We had the misfortune of starting this fireplace journey just before a Hearth & Home acquired a local company we had started working with, Southeastern Fireplaces. The service from Southeastern and their rep had been good, but literally a day after we placed the order, the acquisition occurred and things deteriorated rapidly. Our former Southeastern rep, now a newly minted Hearth & Home rep essentially washed his hands of the process, pled ignorance to the ways of the new company, and gave me the customer service number for H&H (which goes to a call center). Meanwhile, we had been charged for the full amount of the insert with no install date established. After a call to the customer service number, an install date was chosen. However, two weeks prior to the chosen install date, a tech arrived unannounced to install the first part of the insert. No call, no text. Predictably, both my wife and I were on work calls. It was a cluster. A call to the service center was received by a rude, unhelpful associate. Two weeks later, part two of the installation occurred. The tech was rude, never introduced himself, never made eye contact, and never provided a demo of the new system. "It's self-explanatory" he said. Moreover, we discovered the unit was dented after the tech departed. In a world of sub-par customer service experiences, Fireside Hearth & Home managed to distinguish itself as by far the worst customer service experience of my adult life. Hands down, no close second.
Maulen O: Fantastic service!
Steven Godwin: The absolute worst nightmare dealing with this company. Just know, when you call for customer service you are calling into a call center. They are not local to you. The customer service rep I spoke with had an attitude and hung up on me when I asked for her name. Terrible customer service caused by a lack of communication among employees within the company leads to a frustrated customer. Getting a person in the field on the phone is next to impossible. Not sure why they have voicemail setup. It's not like they check it. I will NOT do business with this company again and do not recommend anyone do so either. Would not give them a star but Google makes me give them one. So there, take your participation trophy.

Carolina Chimney: what do users think?
Dr. Cindy Lamm: We just purchased a Vermont Castings Aspen C3 woodstove from Steve. Our experience so far has been a good one. I will update our review once we pick it up and install it.
Scott Johnson: Before hiring Steve, first do this: pick a spot on the wall and then proceed to repeatedly bang your head against it. That will give you an idea of what it is like dealing with him. He was late to follow through and never told me about certain things with our new fireplace installation. What was supposed to be an exciting time for us turned into to one of complete frustration. Completely incompetent!
Bill Warner: Steve Sterling's Carolina Chimney company did an incompetent job in diagnosing and fixing our chimney problem resulting from a lightening strike. He never did and we fired him after paying a lot of money and taking over three months of continuous visits trying things out one part at a time. He works out of his house, doesn't really have technicians and of course no inventory of parts. He doesn't have basic problem solving skills and tries to dazzle you with nonsense about what he is doing. He bloviates and is certainly a God-fearing person which he will tell you all about too. He is the kind of person who when asked what time it is will tell you how a watch is made. Don't even go here. You are in for trouble.
Charlotte Harris: Steve charged me lots of money to repair all the mortar on my chimney. He told me "it will last another 50 years". Three years later, water is POURING in my chimney through gaping holes in the mortar he guaranteed. I was, and still am, a widow on a teacher's salary. I hope this gets out. I would give him negative stars if possible.
Edwin Barnette: Great place
Joe Monday: Steve delivered on every aspect of the job including a SS liner and a Regency stove insert in an old home. Price was 25% less than two other companies. Respectful and honest. Highly recommended.
KL Rogers: They folks are great addition to the community. Tried and true gas log remedy for your home or office and some other fireplace options that not only throw some heat but create a welcoming atmosphere.

Fireside Distributors, Inc.: what do users think?
Robert Fagnan: This place has everything you will ever need for fire features and fireplaces!
Katina Fagnan: Great place to do business.
Chim-Chim Churee Chimney & Masonry: They have great pricing and also a good inventory. Orders always come on time and are never damaged. They are always willing to work with us and explain any details of the different units they sell.
Tammy Beaver: No where near enough room for trucks. They want frieght delivered, but always cars or other obstacles in the way. Hate having to deliver here
Steve Sobczak: This is a phenomenal company to work with. Their entire staff works their tails off to make sure their vendors are on the right path. Great company. Highly recommend.
